One of the best local coffee shops for sure!
Amazing place — it was so cool to finally visit Tetsu’s café, whose recipes I’ve been using since the beginning for my V60 pours at home!

Amazing coffee! If you can speak a little Japanese, the staff are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. I got by with my half broken Japanese, they really tried to meet me in the middle. You will have a great time regardless, their hospitality and service are great!

Quickly dropped by to have coffee here and was overall happy with mine. Didn’t expect that that won’t be seats, but there were sufficient space to drink and chat by the ledge. Glad we went there when it was quite early in the morning and we can enjoy the slow morning with good coffee.

Very intimate space inside for pour-overs. But they have this really cool sitting area just next door! Coffee nerd haven ⭐

Not a new name to the crowded coffee scene in Tokyo but this is their new location. Philocoffea is a specialty coffee barista who came highly recommended from its original location in Funabashi. This joint sits in the basement of a new complex Green Terrace in Kitaaoyama. The best part is perhaps the aesthetics.
The cafe is situated in a cavernous empty basement with no seating and practically no reception. The staff were very friendly but The coffee I had of Ethiopian origin was nothing special. The selection was also limited which was disappointing. The price is certainly on the high side even in this part of Tokyo.
This is perhaps an acquired taste but I have had my fair share of coffee and this place did not tick off any of the boxes for taste, experience or price . Just paying hard earned yen for mediocrity!

I also run a coffee business in Korea, and I came here just to visit this place. It turned out to be beyond my expectations—everything from the coffee to the people to the atmosphere was simply perfect.

This place isn’t for your coffee chit chat or hang out. The coffee is the main draw and that’s what you should be there for. Observe how it is made and the flavours that come with it. Savour, smile and leave. Hopefully with a smile, like me.
