Philz Coffee

I heard it's one of California's top three coffee brands, so I visited. I ordered the most famous menu, " iced mint mojito coffee." The fresh mint scent was different and delicious. and you can also charge at the table.

The mint mojito iced coffee is just the perfect drink. The only problem I have with Philz is that it isn’t in Canada or on the east coast!

The coffee is fantastic, the pastry is solid nice. The clerks seem friendly but they do not tourists taking pictures in the store. Not enough space for dining that you may have to stand if limited seats were all taken.

Visiting coffee shop owners from Guam. Great experience, warm and friendly welcome when we entered the shop, food was great, the drip coffee with different notes was quite a treat for us as mostly latte drinkers. Great job peeps.

I kid you not, this was the BEST coffee I ever had! Would definitely recommend everyone to try their cold brew in mission style - can’t wait to go back and have it again!! Hopefully I’ll figure out a dupe in the meantime… their plain bagel w/ cream cheese was yummy too :p

Got the philtered soul and the ambrosia coffees, along with the chocolate croissant and "banana bread." The coffees were great. They had unique flavors with absolutely no bitterness-- super smooth. The reason why I removed a star is because the "banana bread" had absolutely no banana in it. They either gave me the wrong item, or the banana bread here tastes nothing like bananas and only cinnamon bread.

The ambiance is cozy and inviting, perfect for relaxing or working. A bit pricey, but worth the quality and experience.

Great place to grab some coffee and a quick snack. I love there bear claws. Service is excellent great vibes and great friendly staff

This review is coming from someone who doesn't actually drink Coffee, but I did order something and spend some time here. My wife and I stopped here a few weeks ago to sign the papers to sell our previous house. We came in around noon and the place was pretty busy, but the line moved pretty fast. My wife ordered whatever drink she ordered and I couldn't help but order the half chocolate chip cookie half, half Croissant. After fighting for some seats (not literally) we found a spot and I dug into the bad boy of baked goods. Now, I'll be completely honest here, I have no idea what I expected from this, but it is exactly what it looked like. It tasted like a chocolate chip cookie and a Croissant at the same time, you think I would have seen this coming. It was pretty solid, but not necessarily something I would seek out to order in the future. Overall, I'm giving this place three stars because the atmosphere here was cool, the music was great, and the baked good was solid. If you drink coffee, this is a much better pick than a big box Starbucks.

Who doesn't love Philz. I used to live in santa monica and it was my go to so I'm glad there's a dtla location now.

Nice alternative to Starbucks. The service is good each time I've gone. I think their cold brew is pretty strong compared to Starbucks'. I just wish the drinks could be ready as quickly as Starbucks. Here you have to wait for a few minutes for your coffee. And then when it is ready they ask you to taste it. That's because they will adjust the sweetness if you're not satisfied.

The mocha tesora is simply delicious. Service was quick and friendly just like most Philz locations. My wife found her drink to be a little too sweet and they remade it to her liking. I wish there was a Philz closer to my house.

Located in the heart of downtown parking is nearly impossible... I circled around a few times before I found metered parking across the street. This location is great for people who work in DT and are able to walk. That's why I couldn't give it 5 stars. The coffee from PhilZ always hits right and this location was no exception. I got an iced Tesora with light sugar and medium oat milk. The inside is your standard coffee shop with tables and chairs available for anyone who wants to chat or get work done. It was clean inside and the barista helping me was extremely kind and friendly.

First time trying Philz coffee. I decided to come early in the morning and there is free street parking before 8 am. I ordered on the app and decide to try the iced coffee rose. Even though it was a simple menu compared to the other coffee shops, this one has interesting flavors. At first I couldn't decide because there's a few I wanted to try, but the rose caught my eye. Even though the app said it would take 10 mins, my coffee was ready earlier than that. The barista was Queenie.. and I like how the barista signs the label on the coffee cup so it feels more personalized. The price is similar to other coffee shops, but the flavors are definitely different. I would come back to the other flavors. But parking will be a nightmare if later in the day.

I love Philz! Who doesn't?! They have everything a coffee shop should have: good quality coffee, variety of pastries (tasty), and little place to sit and enjoy (or just grab and go!) The honey haze and rose coffee are my favorites here. The baristas and cashier are friendly, welcoming you upon your entrance, and even suggesting their Philz mobile app for more convenience if you're a regular. I had a cheesy bagel today and loved it.

This downtown LA location will forever be my favorite. Philzs is truly is "hidden gem" / underrated coffee shop The team /staff are always so friendly and polite My drink(s) is always made to perfection and "with love" even the off menu drinks still amazing The only complaint I have is that there are not many locations in Los Angeles

This coffee spot was in a great location, very convenient from the hotel. The cashier was friendly and gave us recommendations based on what we were looking for. She even gave us secret menu options. I like that the drinks are very customizable since you can adjust the sweetness and creaminess levels. I ordered the Mint Mojito which I've tried before, it was really good! The mint is quite refreshing and pairs well with the coffee and brown sugar. We came back the next day and I ordered a Mocha Tesora. I liked the chocolately taste in it but I might have made it too low on the sweetness.

So I'm from San Francisco. Originally t my Phil's coffee products and I'm friends and colleagues with a lot of the bills, coffee baristas as well as corporate staff. Came into the Philz Coffee located in downtown LA at the corner of 8th Street and Hope Street. When it did my order I gave them a $3 tip with ones. I had quarters in my knapsack. I didn't want to carry which would be 12 single quarters and ask them if I could exchange them out for bills. They said that their policy is not to do that. So a question, their policy I go. I'm from San Francisco and I usually go to the San Francisco fields locations. So is that policy consistent statewide or is it just this branch? She just says it's our company policy but she didn't answer the piece if it was statewide. Said if I give you $5 more of a tip would not help and she's we emphasized.. The policy and while I respect that her tone was not appropriate or professional

This is literally my favorite coffee chain. Good coffee, good food (wish there was more variety to be honest). Given I live nearby, the staff recognize me even if I don't go there as often as I'd like. The prices of the food are a bit high to be honest. One thing I love is the fact they grind the beans for every single cup! Plus no weird names for sizes. I have enjoyed the times I'm sat down and simply had come coffee plus a snack with a friend. Seats are comfortable, the lights aren't glaring, etc. But it does seem to me the place is less warm and welcoming than it could be--but I really put that down to size and location. Honestly, usually I get my coffee to go, thank everyone there, then go home.

Huge fan of this Philz location, love the Mocha Tesora. Service is usually pretty fast and ambience is upbeat.

I want to just start by saying that this is the ONLY Philz Coffee location that gets my order ON POINT every single time no matter who makes it (my order is attached, it's a bit complicated lol). If you didn't know, Philz has a 'no recipe' approach where everyone makes the drinks their own way, they're just provided with the ingredients. It's a very clever approach but then there is no guarantee you will get the same thing over and over again- but this Philz just blows my expectations every single time. It always tastes wonderful and Ive never encountered one rude worker here. The inside is super cozy and cute; parking is a bit tricky but if you order ahead you can just put your hazards on in the loading zones and pop in and right out with no problem. Another thing, my order is ALWAYS ready on time no matter how busy. Love this location!

First time trying this place and the girl at the front counter seemed a bit rude. I only had cash on me and she smirked and said they don't take cash.. who doesn't take cash?? I was able to use another form of payment thankfully after she tried to turn me away. It was an overall strange experience bad energy from the front counter girl. Coffee was pretty good though I ordered the ginger snap but forgot to do non dairy milk Bcus of how rude she came off so I couldn't even drink it.

My favorite coffee chain! Despite the harsh location it's in, this store always exceeds my expectations! Coffee is always made perfectly, extremely clean bathrooms (which is a huge win in DTLA) and friendly baristas. I always leave this place satisfied with my coffee and its price. The only con here is parking but this is DTLA so you shouldn't be too shocked about that I recommend an iced mint mojito with no milk and medium sugar,,, it's delicious!

Had a pick up order from TooGoodToGo this morning. First of all everything in the bag they gave me WAS READY TO GO... Three bagels that seem to be three days old and a croissant that looks like it's been stepped on And oh my gosh the way they just threw everything in the paper bag without packaging it in individual bags is wild...

Really good coffee! I like that you can chose the creaminess of the creamier. I would highly recommend the mint mojito, it's really refreshing. I thought the service was good, however I've only been here twice. All in all I enjoyed.

Philz...what is this? I love mint but damn. This is how much mint was in my medium coffee. Realized that probably only 20% of this cup was the actual drink. People are nice, but this feels like a tactic to make you pay more and give you less? Is this normal?

Finally got to stop by Philz. Since I love mint and coffee, everyone has been telling me that I need to try the mint mojito here. They were right, I loved it. This downtown location is very cute but I didn't have time to stay. I will definitely visit another Philz when I have the chance.

No parking available since it's in the heart of DTLA. Delicious coffee but just not an easy run. They move fast and they are polite but I might have to go to another location that's a bit more accessible.

Super california coffee shop. I have been wanting to go here for forever, glad I finally got to go. I do think this place is over hyped though. I got the iced mint mojito. I don't think my drink was mixed very well because it was bland in the beginning and way too sweet at the end. Good vibes from the shop though.

For the love of mojito mint! I first came to this location 5-6 years ago. It's right on Hope: next to where my meetings were etc. location was great for me. Now I see that they've expanded/ changed the layout. So much more spacious! Also took much longer for each drink though. Too a good 25 minutes for my one drink with 2 people ahead of me. But! The flavors! I got it with the full cream and all. It's just delicious! Unlike getting out of Downeown af 5 pm to go to LAX!! This coffee stop almost made me miss my flight but it was worth it :D

I had the Mocha Latte it was super yummy. We had the bacon egg burrito which was average nothing exciting.

one of my favorite downtown coffee spots!! writing this review to highlight Jason - what a lovely person jason helped me with my order recommending an off menu item that was just delicious! what impressed me most though is how kind he was, not just to me but all the customers. an obviously houseless lady came in, instead of shunning her away or acting different he happily greeted her and offered to help, getting her a cup of water, treating her as he would anyone else. that kind of professionalism and kindness is rare in downtown, jason we see you and appreciate you so so much!!!

Starbucks is overrated truly. Love this spot black coffee or specialty coffee lattes! Rose has become my new favorite and who doesn't like the classic Mint Mojito?! Staff is also super nice and is knowledgeable about their coffee and beans too! Seat Layout of the spot is kinda weird but I love their drinks (:

Philz is probably at the top of my list for best coffee. They don't ever let me down. I love mobile ordering it's simple and convenient. The flavorful tastes and vibrant staff keeps me coming back. I love their vegan options. They have the impossible breakfast sandwich and sometimes vegan pastries. I also love how when you mobile order it shows you a pic of who is making your order(their name and picture) . Gives you that personal touch. I love that.

I was in a rush to get a quick bagel before work and once i opened it up in the car I noticed there was a hair under it. It must've fallen off from the barista packing the bagel up. I didn't have time to go back and get a replacement, so I just had to go ahead and toss it.

It's a nice coffee shop with a great menu of coffee and food. I was visiting from out of town and I passed here a couple of times leaving my hotel. Stopped in this morning, and the worker was so helpful explaining their coffee options when I asked what was good. Kudos to the tasty cold brew honey drink and the very nice worker!

Just walked into get a coffee, wanted to use the restroom first as I had just finished eating lunch so asked for the code to the rest room. The girl behind the register told me I need to purchase something first, I proceeded to explain to her that I was going to purchase something but needed to wash my hands first. She said 'nope' and proceeded to dance like an idiot behind the counter. This was my first ever experience at Phil's coffee and will never go back. Is there anyway I could give zero stars?

If you don't want added flavors in your coffee drink, you will be disappointed with the flavor of their coffee. My five-dollar soy latte tasted so bad I couldn't finish it. The person taking the order was cordial but did not know how to describe drinks to a first-time customer. The barista was plain rude.

Usually I like coming to Phil's coffee but today was the worst experience. When receiving the coffee I ask for a box because I am on bike and had to deliver it and it was not on DoorDash or Ubereats. The woman handing me the coffees was extremely rude and show a complete disregard to my situation. I couldn't tell who she was but she had a mask on and wears glasses. Thanks to her I had a huge spill in my electric equipment. I'm definitely not going to recommend this location. I guess dtla just sucks

Philz is great! My new favorite coffee house - I'm happy my friend introduced me to this location. Working in DTLA gives me the opportunity to visit, at least a couple times a week, to savor a mojito cold brew coffee and enjoy a pastry or croissant from their tasty selection‼

I adore Philz Coffee, period stop the end. I did a long review of the Santa Monica location where I praise the Philz concept and lay out all the basic exposition. For this branch review, let me just say ... a) Whenever I am in a place where I have any kind of access to a Philz coffee, I do everything I can to get my coffee there. b) Because I don't have Philz coffee where I live, this is something I try to make the most of when I travel. c) I used to think that the whole point of Philz coffee was very fine very straight black coffee to get the full power of amazing beans. That statement is still true. But I have had Philz coffee on ice cubes (when it sort of had to be that way because it was 98 degrees out there and I was dying.) Iced Philz coffee is wonderful - and that holds for whatever bean you want to use. I have done the flavored versions. I kill for their rose flavored coffee. So you don't have to be a fussy coffee bean purist to love what Philz does. But oh ........ those beans served straight up, hot and black. Most things in life are better naked, anyway.

You guys suck I just left, and my Hot Chocolate taste like water. And my almond Croissant isn't hot at all

Love Philz Coffee but this location is horrible. Ordered pickup on Saturday morning and I ordered 3 coffees and was waiting 15 minutes to even have an employee acknowledge us. Mentioned I ordered door dash and he said it was going to be 20-30. I already was waiting 15 minutes and to add another 20 was insane to me so I cancelled the door dash order. Contacted support and they said I couldn't get a refund because my order was prepared within 10 minutes. But why did the guy tell us 20 minutes for the order when it seemed to already be ready!?? Now I was charged $24 for 3 coffees that I never received. Honestly the worst customer service never going to this location AGAIN!!!

OMG Philz!!! I finally finally understand the hype! To be honest, the first time I came here I wasn't sure what to order and completely messed up and didn't enjoy my drink... I didn't even review them because I didn't want to leave a poor review. BUT I finally went back and did Philz the right way! 5/5 for sure! Philz Truly lives up to its name, because everyone I know is obsessed with it! Today I tried the ecstatic iced coffee with cream and honey. The iced coffee was delicious and i could definitely taste the chocolate notes in it. Yummmm! One of the best parts of Philz that you can completely customize any drink! I got to choose medium cream and medium honey, and it was so nice to have those options. The staff were also extremely kind and helpful, and of course were very Covid friendly! I will definitely be coming back!

The mint mojito is the perfect coffee for these hot summer days. The caffeine with fresh mint and cream makes you feel cool and refreshed. The team members were nice and kept us updated on their service as they would need to step away from the register to assist with making the drinks during peak lunch hours. The shop was clean, quiet, and cool. Definitely recommend!

Came in here a few times in the past month. Super chill vibes and great staff. I really liked their pour-overs and they had this super tasty breakfast sandwich that was really well priced. Staff were super friendly and helpful, I'll be back

Going to Philz is like treating yourself to something better than starbucks once in a while. Anything I have tried, I have enjoyed. If it's not to my liking the baristas genuinely make you feel like you can let them know how it can taste better for you. You don't get the stink eye here like you do at Starbucks. Some great choices are their Philtered Soul cold brew, iced Philharmonic, Iced Rose coffee or their OG go to classic, Iced Mint Monito! Just make sure to have it Philz way! Their bagels are also tasty :)

During Covid the dining room is closed.Limited Hours of 6am -6pm. Ordering on APP ONLY! Be sure to have APP on phone and place order. Quick and easy pick like the other 12 people in line in the morning. Pretty good choice of Coffees.! convenient location on 8th and Hope Street. Below 8th & Hope apartments. Across from the BLOC. I usually place my order and drive up to pick up my Joe To Go!

Great coffee and service! Being that I was visiting LA, I asked the girl at the front for some recommendations, and she happily helped us pick our drinks based on our preferences. She even let us know which sweetness level or type of milk was best for each drink, so we decided to go with almond milk and honey. Drinks came out relatively quick, taking about 5 minutes. We ended up getting two drinks: Philharmonic and Philtered Soul. Both drinks were so aromatic. They weren't overly sweet like most places, and I loved how you can distinctly taste the cardamom or hazelnut flavors in each drink. If I had to choose, I would give the slight edge to Philharmonic, so definitely give that one a shot! Also, $9.40 total for two drinks is pretty good for what it's worth. Whenever I'm back in LA, I'll definitely know where to get my morning coffee.

Philz is the definition of consistency. Their iced mint mojitos are always on point with their sweetness and minty flavor. If you're visiting the LA area and you're a caffeine addict you have to try Philz. Do note if you want to drink in their cafe you do have to show your vaccination card.

Had a great experience here over the weekend. A very nice and polite young lady (I wish I remembered her name ) took my order and had my drinks ready under 10 mins. Even though I was supposed to order thru the app. I had no idea til I got to the window. She explained to me that's how they work nowadays, she told me she will gladly help me this time since I didn't know. So I downloaded the app in case I'm near Philz again soon. Thank you nice lady for taking good care if your customers. Oh I almost forgot. The mint mojito iced coffee is the best. I drink it with half the sugar. Try it.
