Philz Coffee

I’ve visited this coffee shop 10 to 15 times, and it’s always a great experience. The rose iced coffee is my absolute favorite — it’s unique, refreshing, and beautifully made. Everyone should give it a try! At times, there’s a short wait of 5 to 10 minutes, but it’s always worth it.

Great coffee. They have many unique drinks. The rose latte was refreshing. I'm not a black coffee drinker, I hadn't gotten any cream or sugar mixins and the coffee was smooth enough that it wasn't bitter. Highly recommend. I messed up by not ordering at the right place but the barista was kind enough to upgrade my drink.

Loved this place. Great vibes, the staff was wonderful, and seems like a nice local spot for students/writers etc. Mint Mojito was banger, as advertised.

Philz never disappoints! Their Mint Mojito Iced Coffee is a game changer. The baristas are always kind and take time to make it just right. Great place to relax or get some work done.

In town and had to try the spot that I order beans from and get shipped to home State of Idaho. Excellent brew as always and very relaxed and chill atmosphere to get some with done on the computer using their excellent wifi.

The coffee we ordered was sensational and very strong , will definitely go back. The only draw back were some homeless hanging around which made us uncomfortable.

I’ve been here many times for breakfast. Their coffee must be the most unique one in the west coast. It tastes really special and creative. I would like to say that Philz has novelty and passion in making coffee. I also love their hot croissants, which has been the best coffee mate.

Apparently very popular as the run out of expressos before 10 am! I tried the Turkish delight with a hint of cardamom and it was delicious! Would definitely love more clarity in the menu and more information about pastries and other product, there was a long but fast line outside to get coffee but no menu available for people to see until they get to the cashier making the decision there. The place is nice and simple but the coffee is so good that I wish it could be enjoyed in a better way.

I can always count on the consistent flavor in every cup that takes me back to the first time I discovered Philz. I was never one for coffee and Starbucks doesn't cut it for me. The service is great and they get it right every time. The location is great for a walk after you get your cup of coffee and a chill place to sit and do work too. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

Every Philz is great but beware it may take a while to get your order. It's a bit smaller than other Philz store bc of the layout. The line blends in with the seating area. If it's busy, there's not really standing area to wait for your order, so good luck trying to hear them call out your order. I come here on my lunch break, but it can take about 10-15min if the SJSU students are also getting their coffee. I recommend the ginger snap or iced rose coffee with easy cream and easy sweet. The barista told me getting regular ice for their iced drinks are the best. Noted!

I frequent this Philz location as I work in DTSJ. My go-to order is a Large Philtered Soul Philz way ($5.95) - medium cream, medium sugar. Minus one star for not using the Philz app for pre-ordering drinks. Sometimes it can take up to 30-minutes to get your coffee depending on how busy it gets. I've also had times where I've gotten my coffee in 10-minutes. Some baristas are friendlier than others, but I've never had any issues here. You wait in line, place your drink order with a barista, pay for your drink, then wait for your coffee to be called. There are couches and tables usually taken by studious college students. There is plenty of street parking nearby and also a parking garage with free 90-minute parking.

My favorite coffee place of all time! I've been coming here since my college days over. At least 10 years now. This location is within walking distance to SJSU. We stopped by on our way to Christmas in the Park. I ordered my usual min to mojito iced creamy and sweet. They brew fresh coffee on the spot and make it to your liking. My sister in law got the Tesora which was delicious too. It's more earthy. She ordered it extra creamy. Love this place but it is small. Not a spot you'll sit and hang out in but it's downtown so you can stroll downtown and sip your coffee, walk yo the park, or find a bench to enjoy your drink on. The service is on point too. Everyone is always friendly. If you've never been don't pass it up! Way better than Starbucks or Peet's.

First time going to this location since it's right near campus. The way this Philz Coffee operated in terms of ordering and paying was quite confusing. Could've been managed or set up better but I understand how chaotic and busy it could be. I wasn't really satisfied with my iced mint mojito. I got a large with almond milk and Splenda (healthier option). I used 3 Splendas but my drink was soooooooo bitter. The mint flavor wasn't really present either nor was my drink that creamy. And I tend to get Philz at other locations often so this was a bit sad.

I loved the mocha and Amann. It was perfect amount of bitter and sweet. The Rose was a bit too sweet for my taste, but my husband seemed to love it. It's a sweet spot by the University. There was a long queue, and that only goes to show how much it is loved. Staff was managing well. Good ambiance. It has indoor as well as an outdoor seating. It has wifi too so thats a plus!

Ordered a medium hot Tesora made by Kelly. Her energy is very welcoming and she was so kind insisting to adjust or remake my drink if it does not taste right, but it was made perfectly. The ambiance is also very relaxing, great spot for students to unwind or study.

Philz coffee is one of the first coffee shops I went to during my first semester of SJSU religiously. It's always a safe choice to get and they always cater to your taste. Which is one of reasons why I love Philz. They're very customer oriented and make sure that the coffee will taste right. It does get pretty noisy due to the popularity of the coffee shop, but it just shows how well they're doing! Not pictured is the drinks. My usual go to is the ecstatic with extra sugar and extra creamy or the Cinnamon Toast Crunch. It's not too far from campus so it's always worth the wait and walk!

This place is usually great whenever I have time to drop by but the last few times haven't been the greatest. I do prefer my drinks to be a bit extra creamy but the last few times I got it was pretty watery. Ain't the end of the world they still have great drinks other than the few mishaps.

Came by for coffee the other day and it was a tasty experience. Ordered with the barista at the counter and paid with the cashier towards the door. There was a slight wait to get to the barista. Drinks are made to order and my iced mint mohito was pretty strong, sweet and creamy as requested. The Gen Z barista was super chill and friendly.

Philz Coffee is one of my favorite coffee shops so I'm so happy to have so many locations close by since moving to the Bay Area! Of course, I had to pick up a bag of coffee beans as well for some home brewing. The mint mojito is one of my favorites for a sweet treat and it's one of their classics. They also have plenty of other blends, ranging from light, medium, and dark flavors.

Philz is a staple coffee place if you like coffee. I enjoy that they have an app to pre-order, and they usually are done when it says. Only place you cannot order a head is downtown since they are right across the street from a college and are always busy. You can expect the place to always be busy. I've been to many locations, and they usually do an exceptional job. I usually see dog treats there since its dog friendly in some areas. Minus 1 start since they sell their coffee beans more expensive than they do in the grocery store such as Target. I always buy their beans but not from their store. Ordering for the first time can be confusing since you order your coffee, then pay in 2 separate steps.

Phil's definitely makes a "quality" coffee, however, their continued price increases which I feel are in justifiable has gone too far. Today, I find out that even though I was told you get 25 cents off you drink if you bring your own cup, which I did, they only honored 10 cents. Originally, Phil's was a very nice place to get a good cup of coffee. Unfortunately it has become all about the money. I will not be going to Philz. They have lost my business!

This is my first time here at this location , WOW so deferent than others ones , you have to order with the Barista , after go pay . And you can order only pastries, but everything is so sweet with chocolate no breakfast etc . Like and other ones . Just letting you people know , they are really friendly the staff I love it . Environment and atmosphere are ok a lot of students . Good vibe !!

Best location in San Jose! The baristas are extremely sweet and accommodating. The drinks always come out the best here. Good consistency as well

I used to always go here when I went to SJSU and came here before doing work at the library. I tried the oatmeal cookie latte and it blew my mind. Might be my new favorite drink here.

Been hearing the hype about this place (the original Philz from which there have been many others that have opened in various cities) for years so I finally came to try it! I was not disappointed! Get the Mint Mojito iced! So refreshing! Customer service is great and patient, you can adjust the sweetness and cream level to your liking too. The line was long, going out the door on a Saturday afternoon but they are pretty efficient!

This location has been here a LONG time. Although I don't recognize the baristas from when I frequented as a teenager or college student, this Philz spot is an OG. If you're not a local from SJ, just grab a mint mojito :) loved their Philz bagel sandwich

coffee tastes great. The beans are really nice,smooth and flavorful, just the way I like it. You can tell they used good quality stuff.

Philz Coffee is always a 5 Star in my eyes. Freshly brewed, tasty coffee customized to your liking.... There usually is a wait but it's worth your time every time! Service is considerately quick and friendly. Plenty of seating to enjoy it there, but mine is usually for the road. No picture was taken but the mint mojito light sugar and cream was what I ordered.

I've always had a great experience here and staff are upbeat and friendly. There are a few tables outside for seating. I live closer to the downtown Willow Glen location, but I don't frequent it as often because they don't accept cash. This location DOES accept cash for payment, so I find myself here more often.

Been going here for about 5 years now. Great coffee shop with great energy. I get their iced jack n Jill with oat milk sweet and creamy. Jack n Jill is pretty much half jacob wonderland beans and Juliet's beans. Great blend of coffee. I've also tried the honey haze, mocha tesora, and their new cold brew oatmeal cookie. Overall my favorite is still the jack n Jill. Nothing beats it! Service is always great. The workers give out great energy. There are times where they aren't as consistent on the drinks. Some days they taste great and the next day they taste a little funky. But they don't mind if u make adjustments when the drinks are done. Great customer service. Always will be my go to coffee shop! Very spacious place to study. Very open with plenty of seats inside or outside. Lighting inside is perfect to get some work done. Perfect music playing in the background also.

Nice little coffee shop to hang with friends or study during a gap period. The music always sets a nice vibe and the cushion chairs are very cozy. I'd recommend checking DoorDash pickup to gauge how long you need to wait because it's busy morning to afternoon. The baristas are very particular in crafting your drink so the cool time, sweetness level, and creaminess is always right. Staff are friendly and I think they leave the cap off at first so you can see if your drink is right. I usually see them put a cap on if someone's order has been out for minute. Prices are fair :) My favorite is the iced Tesora (light ice, brown sugar, light cream, sweet). With or without cream it's tasty and isn't too sweet even though I order the highest level. I think the consistency of the baristas and brown sugar contribute to the Tesora being such an enjoyable drink.

Philz Coffee, particularly this franchised location, is my favorite for its unique charm and exceptional coffee. The staff's friendliness enhances every visit, making it feel personal. The only drawback is the need for meter parking, which is a minor inconvenience. Despite this, it remains a must-visit for coffee lovers.

It's true. A coffee does bring joy. It's my favorite potion that brings me BACK TO LIFE. Especially on a Monday! Turns a Monday to a monYAY. I always get the mint mojito with extra sweet cream. I usually go for a small because I'm not exactly sure what Philz be doin' back there but I FEEL AWAKE after a couple sips. Staff is super friendly and attentive to requests. I've never had a bad experience at ANY Philz locations. There's seating inside to enjoy your coffee. Thanks for being a very consistent and awesome coffeeshop. Mobile app ordering available!

I had an iced coffee drink with almond Aroma blend- mint flavor suggested custom like blend. Unusually good. The whole experience here is fun and coffee is stronger than the commercial shops that create chains. I go once every two weeks or so and enjoy it immensely. I m glad they created the concept and it is staying. Whoever created this business knows plenty about coffee

I don't usually like flavored espresso drinks (cortado or flat white are my to go) but the mojito and rose here are delicious! (Little sweet options) Their bakeries are pretty much sold out around 4pm lol

Love myself a philharmonic! The coffee is just perfect! I also like their Leek, Tomato & Olive Focaccia bread, and chocolate croissant. The place is clean and has a fun vibe! Would visit again.

Came here after my husband really said so much good stuff about it. I wasn't really going for a coffee that time but I ended up having so much of his. It was the Mocha Tesora. I love a good chocolate anything and the chocolate and coffee combination here was just amazing. Drink was also not too hot so we could savor this for a long time. Really amazing vibe on the inside as well. Nice place to just come and hang out all day working from here.

I have heard tons of good things about Philz from people that it has the best coffee, but I never actually tried it until a few weeks ago. I got a $25 gift card from my uncle and tried out three kinds of coffee. I ordered a: - iced coffee rosé (3/5) - mocha tesora (3/5) - mission cold brew (4/5) They all smell and taste very good, and are reasonably priced. One thing I don't really like is how they don't close the lid when the drink is ready at this location. I didn't noticed and pick up my drink and spill most of it lol I went to the Cupertino location the other day, and I saw that they automatically close the lids, which makes it easier to pick it up.

Im there like every day and its pretty chill tbh. Coffee bomb asf. Workers already know my order(always tip ur baristas don't be cheap). If you like coffee definitely recommend, especially over Starbucks. Go to Philz. If you want a sweet treat, go to Philz.

Came here on Wednesday and had such a great experience! Casey was so kind in helping me order as I've never been here before and the whole team was so efficient in making my drink. Will definitely be returning!

Well, its a philz so obviously its great. I love the vibe here and its a great place for students to hang out or study. I must add however, the service here can sometimes be a bit confusing. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, but because of the way the ordering process works I often get my order messed up. Love the vibe and the coffee here but maybe if they had a more conventional ordering system instead of just having the baristas memorize orders, there would be better consistency.

I gotta say, this coffee chain has the stupidest process of taking your order. You order with a barista, then pay at the register, then wait for your order. No names are recorded, they just shout out your order and pray to God no one else the same thing. Confusing and inefficient.

Pretty upset with the experience. I guess they don't have espresso? The servie was alright, I got their mojito drink. The place had an ok vibe, I just wouldn't conside the place coffee lol.

Pretty great for the price and the quality. Love the vibes of the cafe, feels very chill and laidback. Service can be slow when its packed...which it always is. I wish the mobile order online worked for this location but it doesn't :( But nonetheless great tasting cheap coffee is a win!

I was the only person in line. Went around opening time. I Waited for 25 mins just to order. They said they didn't know I was in line. Walked back and forth behind the bar making eye contact with me over and over. Finally after waiting so long in line, I had to ask someone if I could order. They told me they forgot about me and didn't know I was in line. Never took care of my drink. Place is very unorganized and the people working here are so ignorant. This place used to be busy, line out the door and you would still be greeted with a smile. Now there is no one in line and you're ignored. Enjoy paying $7 for a coffee and being treated like total trash. They treat the homeless people who they give coffee for free better than actual paying customers. I'm all for the homeless. . . But I've never seen them walk in and out with free $7 coffee and be treated better than people waiting in line that go every single day and are forgot about or ignored. Coffee has fallen off, very inconsistent and if you ask them to remake it they aren't very nice about it. I'm all for a unique family owned coffee shop over Starbucks, but this place is not it. Slow service. Coffee isn't nearly as good as it used to be. Service is 1/10. The way you place an order has changed and gone back and forth for 10 years. I'm sure they will use this as an excuse to blame the customer. Even though I was standing in line behind the ropes where the sign is for 25 mins w not one person to even acknowledge me. Place feels greasy and dirty on the inside. Counters are sticky and dirty. Place looks like a run down shack honestly.

I have not touched Starbucks since experiencing Philz Coffee. Growing up in San Jose, I always heard about Philz. Philz was the go-to spot for coffee and very much an "it-girl" coffee spot. Everyone raved about it so much in high school, but coffee always tasted the same everywhere I went. Even friends in Vegas would tell me how lucky I was to be able to go back home where there was Philz. When I started working in the same area as a Philz, my co-worker decided to take me and it changed my coffee life forever! I've been obsessed with Philz ever since and I have not drank any other coffee since then. My go-to order is a Large Iced Philtered Soul Cold Brew, Medium Sweet, Honey, Creamy, Almond Milk. If they had an extra large, I would order it in a heartbeat! Pro-tip: Order ahead of time online. Or use the secret menu Cinnamon Toast Crunch Milk as a milk choice if you're ordering IRL!

Located downtown - convenient for those attending sjsu or visiting the MLK public library but I'm the type of person that avoid driving downtown to deal with parking so that's a warning on the location here. however am able to do delivery doordash Fast and friendly service - you can actually order first with the barista.. and then go to register to pay. And then wait for your drink. I was confused by the order and set up when I first visited a Philz. There's also a philz app on the phone btw. My favorites creations below - they don't even taste like coffee; they at least don't have the obvious coffee taste. Estastic - sweet and creamy for me. "bold and refreshing iced coffee, with sweet notes of milk chocolate." "With a balanced combination of bittersweet cocoa, a dense syrupy body and a subtle citris finish" - AROMAS: Chocolate, Syrup, Caramel. ACIDITY: Medium. BODY: Full Rose - "Smooth and sweet iced coffee, topped with subtle rose cream." Don't get this if you don't floral hints (like those who dislike lavender). Mint mojito - sweet and creamy. "signature iced drink crafted with fresh mint. Ask for it the House Way." PHILTERED SOUL - unique hazelnut blend. Try it sweet and creamy. Tastes like a flavored latte You can adjust level of sweetness and what creamer (they have different milk) May be a useful study spot for some students or a work spot but I find it too busy for me and I would be distracted. They can even do special requests - I once asked for an estatic but wanted a hint of the rose cream and they surprising accommodated it!

All around great coffee for a good price I'd recommend their secret item Cinnamon Toast Crunch, has a nice cinnamon note with a creamy and strong coffee flavor. Their baristas are also extremely friendly and will redo drinks if needed! Philz over Starbucks for sure.

Love Phil's! I can go to a variety of different locations, and will get the same great mint mojito at any location! Only downfall is waiting as they are usually pretty busy but that can easily be avoided if you order ahead of time online! (:

Found a still alive cockroach chillin in the corner. I'm unsure if they sweep often here or even the cleanliness of their establishment after witnessing this little guy chillin at the corner immediately left of the entrance.

Liked my chocolate babka. The shop was SO HOT like they had no air conditioning. Line was almost out the door too! Friends said the coffee was good at least, so it deserves some stars.
