Phnom Penh Night Market

Cheap clothing, food, and great location. I miss casually walking here. The market itself is small and there’s really not much selection for food (almost limited to just local cuisines) but I liked the quaint vibe here. There’s an event almost every day during my stay, so they utilize the stage quite well.

The Phnom Penh Night Market (locally known as Phsar Reatrey) is a vibrant open-air market located on the riverfront between Street 106 and 108. It is a popular destination for both locals and tourists to enjoy authentic Cambodian street food and budget-friendly shopping in a relaxed, riverside atmosphere. Unlike typical food courts, diners here often sit on large bamboo mats or carpets spread out on the ground to enjoy their meals, creating a communal and local vibe. You can find a wide variety of Khmer delicacies, including grilled seafood, pork ribs, traditional noodles, tropical fruits, and even adventurous snacks like fried insects. The market features a central stage where local singers and performers often put on shows, providing free entertainment while you shop or eat.

People are just sitting on the ground enjoying the local food, with live music in the background, pretty chill atmosphere. Enjoyed the ice cream in the half coconut, only 1.5 USD, and also got free coconut water. Chicken porridge is $2 USD.

The market is fairly small, with multiple vendors selling clothing. However, most items are only available in small sizes, so if you’re a bit curvier, you may have a hard time finding something that fits unless it’s very stretchy. There’s a good variety of food options, and people sit together on the floor to eat, which I thought was a really cool and unique experience. When we visited, there was also a singer performing on stage. Overall, it was a nice stop, but we walked through the entire night market in under 40 minutes.

On the shore of the Mekong river, this night market is delightful. It stretches for almost half a kilometre, so is long and narrow. It is predominantly a food market, and we really enjoyed the Cambodian street food we ate here, but there are also the usual range of typical market stalls. For us the highlights was watching the local dancers, circling around to music in the most hypnotic way, all exaggerated eastern hand movements and slow steps. The dancers, mostly older women and young gay men, were a delight, we were captivated for ages...

Phnom Penh Night Market is a lively spot and worth checking out if you’re already nearby, but it’s not the kind of place that stands out on its own. The atmosphere is fun, with music, bright lights and a steady crowd moving through the stalls. It gives you a quick glimpse of local street food, small clothing stalls and a mix of souvenirs. If you’re looking for something simple to eat or want to walk around after dinner, it does the job. Most of the food options are basic and similar from stall to stall, so nothing feels particularly unique. The prices are decent, but not as low as you might expect from a night market. The seating area is casual and a bit crowded during peak time, so it’s not the most comfortable place to sit unless you enjoy the hustle. The shopping stalls have the usual T-shirts, accessories and small items, but you won’t find much variety. Staff at the stalls are friendly, and the location near the riverside makes it convenient for a quick visit. Overall, it’s fine for a short walk and a light snack, but it doesn’t offer the depth or charm of larger markets.

Lots of typical market items here to buy, didn't find any of the staff pushy at any point. Enjoyed the food section with dinner options and fruit juices, can eat together in a groups on the mats around. This market is close to the promenade and busy drinking area. Not too busy in the early evening. There was some live music as well.

It's open only on the weekend. You can find food and clothing here. A lot of mats are combined and put on the ground to provide seating to enjoy your food and drink. It's near the end of Chaktomuk Walk Street, so you can do this in one go. It's still a good way of enjoying your evening time while trying to find some shirts at affordable prices, just the problem is size. Most sizes here are small.
