Phnom Penh Spice cooking class

Had an amazing experience with Phnom Penh Spice Sreng and his sister, who were so friendly and quick to smile. It truly added to the whole experience. The cooking and instructions were clear and straightforward and while the food was cooking Sreng gave a background presentation on Cambodian food and how it has changed over time. Truly adding a deeper understanding to what we were eating.

Delicious Cultural Experience, Highly Recommended! We had an amazing time during the cooking class, especially learning how to make traditional Cambodian dishes like amok in a coconut. We made our own curry paste and used it for the amok and bbq skewers. It was not just about the food, the experience gave us real insight into Cambodian culture, ingredients, and cooking methods. The hosts were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel welcome from the very start! They are amazing. The class is very hands-on and interactive, so you really get involved in every step of the cooking process. We started by learning about local herbs and spices, followed by preparing everything from scratch. It’s a great activity whether you’re a beginner or already love to cook. What’s also great is that the class is suitable for everyone — whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, or eat meat. The hosts are very accommodating and made sure each person had ingredients that matched their dietary preferences. The entire experience took around 3.5 hours, which was the perfect amount of time to cook, eat, and chat with the owner. The food we made was absolutely delicious, and we even got to take the recipes and spices home. This is one of the best activities we did in Cambodia. Highly recommended for food lovers and curious travelers alike!

My cooking class with Sreng was an absolutely incredible experience. I not only learned to prepare delicious local Cambodian dishes, but I also gained a deeper understanding of the country's food culture and history. Trying new, local fruits was a fun bonus! The class had a wonderfully homey feel, enhanced by all the plants, and cooking the traditional way over a charcoal barbecue was a highlight. I can't recommend Sreng enough for anyone who wants to learn about local cuisine and connect with people from the community. He was both friendly and extremely knowledgeable.

My two friends and I had a really enjoyable and informative cooking class with Shreng. We loved being in a local neighbourhood and learning so much about Cambodian food. I hope I can replicate the recipes when I get home. Thank you Shreng

I had a wonderful experience at this cooking class. Sreng, our guide, clearly explained all the steps involved in preparing each meal and provided a wonderful presentation about the history of khmer food, during the angkor period and how it has developed since then. The food was incredible and a very generous quantity. I'd definitely recommend this class to anyone wanting to learn more about Cambodian cuisine and culture!

We booked onto this cooking class after reading good reviews and it didn’t disappoint. The price included tuk tuk pick up from our hotel. We happened to be the only two booked on so had a private class! Sreng was very knowledgeable about Cambodian food and was passionate about sharing it. We had a great time and would highly recommend.

We had a wonderful class ran by Sreng and his sister. They walked us through everything clearly and explained what each ingredient was and how it impacted the dish. His presentation about Cambodian food was especially interesting including the history of the food, cultural influences and how it's changing overtime. An amazing experience overall and absolutely delicious food!!

Cannot recommend this class enough! The setting is warm and cosy and the food gets cooked in a traditional coal fire. Had such a delightful class with Sreng - he's so kind and welcoming. It's also a great opportunity to find out more about broader Cambodian food and the changing culture around it.
