Pho Kauai

Ambiance is basic. Simple chairs and tables. Service was prompt. Choices on menu included vegan options. Pho broth was full of flavor. Pork and shrimp spring rolls were ok. Pork vermicelli was well seasoned.

My favorite Pho spot on island,the service is amazing and the place is super clean. I always get the #14 and it never disappoints. The wait time to be seated isn’t usually long and the food is served pretty quick as well. Love this place and highly recommend!

I had such a great experience at Pho Kauai! The food was absolutely delicious — the broth for the pho was rich, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The portions were generous, and everything tasted fresh. The service was warm and friendly, and the staff made sure we felt welcome from the moment we walked in. The restaurant has a cozy, relaxed atmosphere that made it a perfect spot for a casual meal. If you’re craving authentic, comforting Vietnamese food on Kauai, this is the place to go. This was a good lunch option for us before flying out of Lihue. We ordered the fried rice with grilled shrimp and another one with Tofu and vegetables. The shrimp & veggies were very fresh and the fried rice tasted yummy with not much oil in it! Will definitely recommend.

Food is surprisingly good and unexpected to have Vietnamese noodle on Kauai. Location is great, lots of parking spaces and close to the airport. Recommend to try.

Great Pho and Fried rice. We try the beef Pho and the New York Steak Fried Rice and everything was amazing. Very friendly staff as well

Small restaurant. Appears to be pretty busy might be because there’s just not much pho option on the island. Service was okay. Everything is so fast and the waiter was constantly running back and worth and shouting things out. Once we got our orders, we never saw the waiter again. Good was okay. Pho was different than mainland pho that I’ve had. The broth was thicker, more oily, and the meat was thicker cut, not as tendered. The spring roll I got was not bad. The ends were dried, this is how you know it’s not freshly made, most remade, wrapped, and stored. Good sauce. Will I go back? Mixed feelings. I want to say No but as I said earlier, there’s not much pho options on the island.

We needed to grab dinner late on a Sunday, after 36 holes of golf. We were starving and by the time we got back to Lihue it was 8pm. Now Sundays are tough here in the island... things are closed or close early. So we were so grateful to find this spot open till 9pm. The food was so good, we ordered a Ox Tai Pho, A specialty fried rice and Gyoza. Great portions, great flavor and the leftists leftovers were just as good the next day. We will definitely be back

Cute little hole in the wall with super friendly staff. Restaurant is old but clean. And the food was good! We had pho, pad thai, summer rolls and chicken wings. It was all delicious! Will definitely return.

It's been awhile since I ate here.Especially eating in.My girlfriend n I came here as our second choice.The original place where we was planning having lunch had some horrible service so we left.So it wasn't bz at all.There are new owners so the establishment looks better then before.Plus their AC is cold n I love cold.Well after ordering our drinks.We started with an appetizer.We got the chicken wings.It was good.Flavorful..Soon after we placed our order.My girlfriend had the number 18.Its consisted of rare steak n brisket.Its her favorite!.I had the number 28.This soup was loaded.The soup had rare steak,brisket,flank,tendon,meatballs and tripe.It hit the spot!!.Also when you add the chili oil over the top good!!.We will definitely come back.I probably will order the same thing who know's?

Friends and I came here for dinner and it was subpar. I think the restaurant is owned by Chinese people because when my friend spoke Vietnamese to our server if they have a type of noodle she wanted, she did not understand my friend. That being said, the food was not as flavorful as other Vietnamese places I've tried. I tried a little of my friend's pho and the soup tasted a bit bland but at the same time, had a strong star anise flavor. My other friend got the vermicelli bowl with spring rolls and shrimp and said her noodles were overcooked. As for my grilled pork chop, it was so overcooked that I had trouble cutting through it and it got stuck in my teeth. We are just visiting Kaua'i but even if we lived here, I don't think we would be back.

Aloha Yelpies, There is a ridiculous amount of ono (flavor) they definitely know how to bring comfort food to you fast and hot. First class service and comfortable environment. Get in here and enjoy

This restaurant used to have Vietnamese owner but no longer the case. We've been going here every time we visit Kauai. Food was really bad and the bean sprouts were brown. I don't know anyone would serve their customers with rotten food. Definitely not going back here anymore

First time visitor here. Ordered takeout- Pork Chop plate, Brisket Pho, & Vermicilli w/ BBQ chicken. The pork chops were tasty but kinda dry and tough. The Brisket Pho soup was average. Disappointed that they did not pack hoi sin and hot sauce. The Vermicilli was average. The sauce for both the Vermicilli and pork chops was very light, could have been more robust.

Oh yes! Love this place! Delicious and made with love! Great service and it was packed every time we passed by. Their pho was the perfect end to our Kauai Trip from Oahu. Can't wait to go back for more.

This was a highly recommended restaurant by friends that come frequently to Kauai. We had a couple of Grilled Pork and Shrimp with fried eggroll Vermicelli bowls. It was a generous portion of the proteins and the bed of cucumber, bean sprouts and lettuce This made the dish healthier and nicely balanced with the amount of vermicelli noodles. The restaurant was clean and the staff was courteous. Definitely recommending this place to you all and returning ourselves for another great deal.

Fast service, and food comes out very quick. Always our go to place for Pho! Kids love the fried rice. They have tables so you can order and eat in.

This place is always a must stop for delicious phó and summer rolls! Kindest staff and quick service!

Change of ownership from Vietnamese to Chinese, which is not an issue except for the fact that the food taste has declined. I ordered the Pho and noticed right away it was not like the times I went before. Too bad because they use to have a decent bowl. Not recommended.

Ok, either I was really hungry or it was really good. Evidence speaks for itself. Service was not bad, as with all Asian restaurants, I didn't expect 5 star, but the waitress was attentive. There's ample parking and the sketchy looking bathroom out back was surprisingly clean.

Food not bad but boy-howdy what lousy service! The 2 people working the front were super unfriendly. I asked if they had 'bun bo hue' and the server just shrugged and looked at me like i asked her the stupidest question in the world.I realize that some Vietnamese places don't carry bun bo hue but I could have used a little less tude.

The Vietnamese owners sale the business to the Chinese ,and the food, portion drastically going down The portion was to small , 3 spoons of the noodles , 5 slices of meat, and half bowl of soup. Isn't worth it at all,

We've had real Raman in Japan and had heard about Saimin and decided to try it and at this restaurant that's been around for a while. It was delicious. I don't recommend on a hot day. Eating hot soup makes you hotter but it was so tasty. I got the shrimp saimin. (Bottom) my husband got the pork (forgot the name). He had a bite of mine and said it tasted better than his. I loved it and would order again. It's a friendly staff, affordable, and fast! It is cash only!

Our whole family loved our meal here. From the outside, the shopping center is nothing fancy - but once inside, you're in a special place. The service is caring and efficient. Owner knows his stuff! Our dishes were fresh and delicious. The mural on the wall adds a really nice touch to the decor. We loved everything from fresh summer rolls to pho bowls to veggie & tofu stir fry. We will definitely be back next time we're on Kauai!

Hankering for Vietnamese food? Pho Kaua'i will satisfy your yen and give you a bang for your buck. Don't judge a family run business by its location in a strip mall. Pho Kaua' was crowded at lunch on a weekday I gave it a try. Excellent Filipino bakery next door if you're craving sweets afterwards.

Big portion, friendly and quick service, delicious pho. Really hit the pho and hot noodle soup craving. Would definitely return again!

This place gets 1 star because it smelt really fragrant when walking in, so I had high hopes for this place. Unfortunately, after ordering and getting my food, it was a big disappointment. The service was fine when we got in and they took our order, however, we weren't checked in on at all after that. They came out with our food which took about 10 minutes, and they tell us they don't have any basil. The bean sprouts in the soup were close to being dead and the soup was not flavorful at all. They also put cabbage in my dad's soup. If you're looking for a good bowl of pho, I wouldn't recommend this place.

Owners told us they have been here for around 18 years! Wow! That's a success story on its own. The food and service was expedited quickly. We ordered and BAM! food showed up in 10-15 minutes. All we can hear are noodles being slurped up at a rapid speed! Soup was HOT, which is how I like it, it had a deep n' rich beefy and star anise flavor - so yum. We also ordered the fried spring rolls... too bad they only give you 2 rolls cut up, wish it was 3 instead because there were 3 of us and we had to fight for the last 1/2 piece :). I don't have any complaints about this place. NOTES: Typical style seating. Sit, eat, pay at counter.

Don't recommend this place. Amy not friendly, not professional, rude. Pho soup without basil, without original ingredients. we'll never come back here.

One of the many times I strongly disagree with quite a few Yelp ratings (obvs, YMMV, not saying everyone should think what I think). You CANNOT hold a pho place in Kauai, or I don't know, Alaska, for that matter, to the same standard as a pho place in Vietnam proper or in Orange County, California. They have nowhere near the raw ingredients (esp herbs) access. With what they have, Pho Kauai is reasonably "authentic" (though even as a Vietnamese who grew up in Vietnam, I'm starting to get sick of that word), plenty flavorful, and very reasonably priced. My broth tasted good, certainly did not use those "seasoning cubes" (as the only pho place on a small island, no one should fault them for using those btw), and had the basic herbs available. When I came in the cashier guy was still preparing some additional herbs (basil etc) so depending on when you come, your experience may differ. My husband had a rice plate with pork chops. The pork chops were questionably seasoned (likely soy sauce vs the typical Viet fish sauce profile) but the meat tasted pretty good. No complaint there. Servers were friendly and efficient. Saw my son and offered him a high chair, something most restaurants (esp Asian) do not offer us right off the bat unless we ask. Would I come here if it was competing against the best pho places in Saigon? Probably not. But when I'm in Kauai? Will certainly come back. It hit the spot.

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner tonight at Lemongrass. I had the creamy Garlic Mushroom Chicken and my husband enjoyed the Seabass. The service was great and food was delicious. It rivals several much higher priced places we have been on the island. Service was excellent as well. Highly recommend

Authentic! Fast service, one my local faves. I recommend the pho and vermicelli dishes.

We stopped by here cause it was a gloomy/rainy day and this place offered indoor dining as well as pho. I ordered the pork chop rice plate and it was fine. Sauce was slightly sweet. Place was packed. If I'm craving Vietnamese food this place would satisfy it.

Food was great. The rare steak soup was spot on. And the shrimp tempura was pretty filling. The peanut butter sauce for the spring rolls was very tasty as well. Service was fast and efficient, our food came out in no time.

Not the worst but not really that special either. If you're looking for a pho fix, it gets the job done, it's just not a 'wow' meal. They don't have the chili oil for the soup like most pho spots have. And they were out of to go containers when I went so I was unable to bring half of my pho home :( and their tripe is chopped versus being in big pieces so it was hard to identify among the noodles in the bowl.

Terrible place with pho too salty. The pinsprout too old and pale. The lady owner not friendy at all and mad when we wants hot water instead of regular water. The Vietnamese coffee tasted like water with condensed milk and cost more than $5. This is made Vietnamese foods looks BAD. All the staff here and cookers Not Vietnamese... No wonder!

This restaurant is currently closed (Autumn 2023). They had a kitchen fire. They do not know how long repairs will take.

Great portion sizes and extremely tasty food! We ate here 4 times during our stay in Kauai. Definitely recommend if you are vegetarian - between my husband and me, we have eaten almost all vegetarian items here and we loved them all! Portion sizes were great. Food arrived quite fast.

We love eating here. never had a disappointing meal. we've explored about 2/3 of the menu. The service is great. glad to see the expansion after the tragic kitchen fire. The ambiance is improving slowly,but had never been unpleasant or uncomfortable. It's usually not really noisey.

Bland, tasteless, and rubbery. Seem like it's the frozen kind. Also had the spring roll. Asked for more Thai basil and got none. First and last time to eat here! They got an xtra star because servers were friendly!

Read some unpleasant reviews so decided to try Pho Kappa which had recommendations from some reviewers. Drove to Pho Kappa and they are out of business till further notice. Drove to Pho Kauai with fingers crossed. We had a group of 8 visiting from Houston. The service was prompt and friendly. As for the food, we all thought the pho was good and on par with just about any pho place in Houston. Wasn't heavy on msg and may not have had any at all. Bean sprouts and basil were fresh. They even have the original Siracha in abundance. Island food was expensive and some places were simply not worth the money. This place had mainland food prices with good portion sizes. If we ever come back will definitely return.

I LOVE pho Kauai. I'm a big fan of Vietnamese food and this place always does the job when it comes to satisfying my cravings. They are super quick as well! Highly recommended!

I came back with a hangover and the egg rolls were out of this ISLAND! so good. Also got the chicken pho this time and man it lifted me right up.

We were craving some pho during our visit to Kauai and Pho Kauai hit the spot for us. In all honesty, it's not the best pho I've had (we have a good selection where I'm based in Toront) but being in Kauai, it was the perfect fix. Staff are friendly and hard working and if you're looking for your basic pho fix, this will do.

We absolutely enjoyed our dinner and this will be the meal we miss when we return home. My summer rolls (shrimp) were nicely sized and full of fresh ingredients. My daughter raved about the garlic shrimp appetizer. I had the shrimp, pork and egg roll vermicelli bowl. My only regret is that my stomach wasn't big enough to keep eating. Thank you for memorable meal!

I got a bowl of pho last night and thought it was very good. The broth had a great depth of flavor.

The owners were WAY too uptight when I asked for hot sauce for a to go order. I saw where the hot sauce was and I asked one of the owners who was in the kitchen if I could help myself to some hot sauce, she got very stern with me and said no that someone must help me, Because of Covid restrictions. Her husband came out and was super aggressive and controlling, telling me to step away from the hot sauce. First of all why not just have hot sauce readily available for to go orders, instead of making a big production out of it? Secondly why not be kind? Thirdly, why are you letting a virus that is being proven to be similar to the flu or a bad cold bring so much fear into an establishment that is meant to nourish people? I will not be coming back to this restaurant again the quality of the food isn't worth it anyhow.

Solid effort by the new folks that purchased this place. They are way nicer and more appreciative of their customers than the old guys. I order 18 with Kauai shrimp.

Breakfast here. Ordered combo pho. Vermicelli pork, spring rolls. Pho was good, maybe a lime or lemon slice would be better. Vermicelli good if you do not want soup. Veggie roll as good as anywhere else. Overall solid place to have pho.

This is my favorite Pho spot on Kauai I was surprised to see some not good reviews and it made me want to leave a good one. Really flavorful broth and the ox tail is just so good every time. They are nice when picking up to go and the service when we dine in is always quick and easy. Heading to Lihue this afternoon just might have to grab some to go

We tried this restaurant bec of recommendations by a guidebook. The broth was too salty and fatty. The sliced brisket was half fat. The summer rolls were lacking any flavor. We were so disappointed. This is Kauai, one can grow mint and cilantro in the parking lot if one tried. They were sorely and stunningly missing.

This restaurant is practically hidden from the main road so pay attention to your GPS! The service was okay. The continuously forgot items and we would ask for them but the ladies and gents would never return with what was requested. We ordered calamari and summer rolls for our appetizers and I wouldn't suggest either to anyone. The calamari was good but literally was only 5 pieces, not worth it. The summer roll was rice paper, vermicelli noodles, lettuce and 2 shrimp. It was bland and defitently not worth it. I ordered the vermicelli with egg roll & beef which was delicious. It was also the perfect portion. My mom had a vermicelli as well but the egg roll in her bowl was spoiled...uh oh. My dad ordered a rice plate which was small compared to the ones we eat on the mainland and it didn't come with a side of soup that it usually does. The rest of our family ordered pho and everyone complained about the blandness of the soup. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant unless you have low standards for Vietnamese cuisine and like your food bland.
