IMHO this shop serves one of the best Pho Bo (beef noddles) in Hanoi! The price is right with generous portions of beef, in the tourist belt vicinity of Hoan Kiem Lake! The shop's street alley atmosphere won't let you feel touristy. The workers are fast & understand English. I ordered a Jumbo bowl beef mix pho (100,000d) with a plate of bread sticks (15,000d) and it's totally worth it

The beef pho here is incredibly flavorful, with a clear, aromatic broth packed with green onions, chopped cilantro, and a generous amount of beef. The location is unique—tucked away in an alley where bikes pass by as you eat, adding to the authentic street food experience. However, for those who are hygiene-conscious or sensitive to strong odors, this spot might not be ideal. The raw meat and chopping board smell can be a bit surprising. Their fried dough 'Quẩy' is firm and oily—not great on its own but pairs wonderfully when dipped into the savory pho broth. A must-try for adventurous foodies seeking authentic flavors!

Pho Tai + Nom 60k VND (2025) Has English menu. Cash or QR payment only. I think this shop is famous as I saw another chain somewhere, and they produce their own instant noodle, how cool is that! I order Tai Nom because I like chewy meat with tendon. A big old good bowl of soup noodle is all I need for a gloomy day. The soup is very flavorful. The meat also very good and good portion of amount. Every spoonful is a very good enjoyment. There is a side stall to sell fried quay and drink, but has to pay separately as they don’t belong the same shop. I fairly enjoy my meal, drink most of the soup. Nice experience

Pho Thìn by the lake offers just two price options — 60k and 80k — for tái nạm or tái chín. The pho is tasty, the meat is tender, and the staff are attentive, but you may wait around 5–10 minutes for your bowl. Seating is limited, with a few tables outside and some deeper inside the alley. You can order iced tea, but it’s from a different vendor. A convenient stop if you’re walking around the pedestrian street and want a quick, satisfying bowl of pho. If you eat light, make sure to ask specifically for the 60k portion, as they sometimes default to serving the 80k one.

Atmosphere, as authentic as it gets, u have to walk thru the entrance to the alleyway and get seated within the alleyway. When I got there it was packed at 9am, but I didn't have to wait long for a seat. Service, served almost immediately. Food, the most savory bowl of beef noodle I've had in hanoi. The northern style is usually more subtle in flavors. This place is definitely savory which is what I like. I ordered the Bat Lon, normal bowl of pho, 60k. Added an egg, 5k. Delicious.

I was almost losing hope, as the phở we’d tried in Vietnam so far hadn’t lived up to our expectations. Having already experienced some of the best phở in Los Angeles and San Diego, we naturally used that as our standard (I know I shouldn’t compare, but Vietnamese chefs in California have done an excellent job representing their country’s cuisine—one of the reasons that inspired me to travel here in the first place). Phở Thìn Bờ Hồ was undoubtedly one of the best bowls of phở I’ve had during our family trip to Vietnam, better if not on par with Phở Gia Truyền Bát Đàn, also here in Hanoi. The portions were generous, and the combination of cuts gave the broth rich depth. The meat itself was tender and flavorful, with just the right balance of textures. I’m really glad we had the chance to eat here. Thank you!
