Phở Thìn Bờ Hồ

You know the food is good when there is only one item on the menu and your choices are standard size or large size. A stall next to this place sells tea and bread sticks - they looked like "you tiao" to my Taiwanese side just sweeter - and who doesn't like fried dough. You have to try it.

This is not like me, I usually am obsessed with every pho I eat in Hanoi but this one for sure disappointed me. It definitely tasted much more bland than all the other ones I had. I came at 9am on a Sunday morning and it was already packed with locals, which is a good sign usually, I was just waiting for a seat to be free not knowing there is extra seatings in the back, which is why they kept giving me a sign of going back but I didn’t get it haha. The room in the back is much less charming than the outdoor seatings in the front. For 70K a bowl of pho and the fried donut, I it’s okay. But there is much better pho around that area in my opinion!

If you are a Pho lover, then you absolutely must check out this Pho restaurant. This is highly recommended by my Airbnb host, as well as other local foodie experts. It's a good sign when you see locals only. The place, a hole in the wall or actually in an alley with two long tables, shared table. This place only offers Beef Pho and does it very well! From the moment you walk in, you can smell the aroma of the rich broth and beef permeating the air. The clear broth, looks simple however it packs a beefy and flavorful with a perfect balance of spices and seasoning that creates an authentic, one-of-a-kind taste. The beef is tender and generous portion. The noodles are perfectly cooked. Topped with a generous amount of green onions. Make sure to pair it with the Fried donuts and tea - must be paid separately. They have condiments available at the table to customize your taste. The garlic vinegar is great, chili oil paste, sliced chili, and lime. The service is fast, despite the language barrier. Just point out what you want. Overall, this Pho restaurant is a must-visit for any food lover.

T ucked away in a small alley near Hoàn Kiếm Lake, Phở Thìn Bờ Hồ offers a unique take on the classic Vietnamese noodle soup. If you want to try Vietnam authentic food, you must try this Pho 😍 delicious refreshing taste, many slices of meat 🥰 eat the cakwe with the soup 🤤 Definitely will come back to eat again when in Hanoi.

I am okay with being served a hot soup dish, but I am MORE than okay when the server explains their dish to a foreign visitor like me. There was so much warmth in both their service and the Pho that I ate that night.

Great local pho restaurant close to the lake. The restaurant was packed with people but we got a seat really easily. The pho was tasty and filling. The little donut sticks of doom were fantastic, they were some of the best I’ve had in Vietnam! The chili sauce was great and spicy. I definitely recommend checking this out!
