Everything here was beyond my expectations. The restaurant is small but well-organised so there are plenty of tables. Foods were amazing. I had the steam rice with grilled pork and fried egg and it was amazing. The fish sauce dressing was so good too. There were parking spots on the street. The restaurant owner is so welcoming and making sure that we had a good experience there. 6 stars for customer service. I would definitely come back once I'm on the island.

I recently dined at Pho Vy in Victoria with my kids, and I had a good experience overall. The food was tasty, and while it might not be the best Vietnamese food I've ever had, it was definitely enjoyable. I was pleased to find vegan options on the menu, including some delicious pho. The atmosphere was nice and inviting, making it a comfortable place to relax. I think it’s a solid choice if you’re looking for a casual meal, especially if you’re in the area!

Hello from California Our family of 20 with age from 2-60yrs old, all our last visit. Good job PhoVy... Keep it up!

Delicious! The meat is plentiful and so very soft! Definitely worth the take out! Can't wait to go in person and try more dishes

Hands down my favourite Vietnamese restaurants in the city! I have been to many, but I enjoyed all aspects during my time. All the soups are good options- you can’t go wrong with the pho. I have been to this place a few times and liked their vermicelli bowls too! Definitely some of the best compared to others. The family that owns the restaurant are from Vietnam and are extremely friendly. Felt like home and a the service was great. Would recommend anyone to check it out! - What we ordered: 22. Pho chin, bo vien: brisket and meatballs. Always a great choice. 16. Bun bo hue: spicy noodle soup with meat, noodles, lemon grass and spicy. Good option if you want to try other soups other than pho.

Always fresh and hot. Delicious every single time! Service is incredibly fast, drinks always refilled without having to wave someone down. Friendly and polite service as well in a cozy clean atmosphere. Can't say enough good things about this restaurant.

Google
$20 for a pho bowl. The food is good, but the service here is awful. Hygiene is also questionable. Twice I received dirty utensils. Garnishes are not fresh. The large size is more like a medium size when compared to other vietnamese restaurants. The older guy server is off putting telling me to go back to my seat when I wanted to give my order at the cashier because I was in a lunch rush. I don’t like that he placed his hands on my shoulder after handling used dirty dishes from another finished table. Pho Boi across the street is a better option.

Google
The taste of the soup is unique, in a good way, it tastes different from other Vietnamese restaurants. The Vietnamese coffee is rather bitter, not enough condensed milk, and it was a smaller amount than in other restaurants. The consistency was also runnier than others I've tried, not exactly the best. The large portion was less compared to other restaurants but, again, the soup tasted better.

Yelp
Solid Viet food, nothing fancy. Got the Pho Vy Dac Biet and the broth was good. Service was quick and kind. You definitely can't go wrong with coming here!

Yelp
I wasn't planning on getting pho during my visit to Victoria, but when I walked by this spot many times and each time saw that it was PACKED inside, I figured I probably should give it a try. We came for lunch on a Sunday, and were able to snag a table before it got busy. Between the two of us, we shared a pho dac biet and a bun bo hue. The portions were MASSIVE and a lot more than we expected - we couldn't finish it all, and we usually eat a lot. The pho broth was great, light yet flavorful and paired really well with the noodles. These noodles are interesting in that they're slightly thicker than the usual thin rice noodles I'm used to. The pieces of meat inside were also really yummy, and I especially liked the beef balls which had a really nice seasoning to them. The bun bo hue on the other hand was also fantastic. Really well seasoned with a strong lemongrass flavor, which also left the broth a little gritty at the bottom. Both soups here were great which is really the key indicator of a good restaurant. Service was really fast an efficient, which made sense because of the high rate at which they need to turn over tables. This was slightly irritating at times, but nonetheless was good because service was fast.

Yelp
Highly recommend! Great pho! Flavorful and great portion sizes. Staff was very friendly and kind.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday night around 6:30ish with my partner. There were a good number of tables filled, but we got seated right away. We both got the bun bo hue and a blended strawberry drink to share. The bun bo hue was actually the reason we decided to come here versus some other Vietnamese restaurants in the area; a lot of other restaurant have "spicy pho," but we were looking for actually bun bo hue in which they use the round rice noodles. It did not disappoint--good lemongrass flavor and it was definitely a good amount of spice! They were generous with the meat as well. The strawberry drink was also tasty--can taste actual strawberry and not just artificial flavoring/syrup. Service was good and prompt. We got checked up on once during our meal, and we didn't have to wait long to get our bill when we were ready. They also gave some yummy guava candy for each of us with our bill! I recommend coming here for a bowl of their bun bo hue if you're craving delicious spicy noodle soup when you're in Downtown Victoria.

Yelp
Was walking around looking for food and walked past Pho Vy. We were lured in by the strong smell of the food so decided to try Canadian pho. Got the combo pho, was a bit disappointed with the variety of meats provided. Broth wasn't that flavorful - maybe I'm used to American flavoring. Pho noodles are a bit thicker than I am used to.

Yelp
A small seating area, but very quick service. The noodles were perfect. 2 of us in the party, we both had Pho. Delicious!!
google avatar

Yelp
Solid pho, nothing fancy. Short, nearly rude staff. Good prices + the medium will fill you up. Spring rolls came ahead of time and were quite filling. Had a lot of awards posted in the windows - nothing spectacular but a good bowl of pho overall.

Yelp
Just what I wanted yum. Will definitely be a regular here. Service was fast and efficient.

Yelp
This is the second pho place I have been to on my trip. I think this one tops the other one. The chili oil is *a chef's kiss*. I ordered number 29 which was brisket and flank. The broth was delicious, I did add a bit of hoisin, hot sauce, and fish sauce to spice it up a bit. I also ordered the large, which is very large and kept me full for the entire day. This spot is also great for lunch because they are speedy even if you want to sit down and have lunch with some coworkers! If you are in town you should definitely check them out. My friends got the Vietnamese coffee and I am a little jealous that I didn't pull the trigger.

Yelp
had the lemon grass chicken and it was so delicious! chicken pho was pretty good too, but would definitely recommend the vermicelli.

Yelp
3.5 Stars because IDK how to give a half star. Hubby and I liked this place, the staff was super efficient and the food your typical pho place. I liked that the pho had a nice beef broth. The location was great. Yes, definitely give this place a try, especially on a cold, windy, and misty afternoon in Victoria. Thanks for being nice to the "flip-side".

Yelp
Having travelled across Vietnam, and making a point to sample Pho wherever I go on vacation or work trips, I feel like I have developed a pallet well-suited to identifying quality broth. Every broth tells a story. It tells a story about the cooks culture, their pride, and the culinary traditions of their families. Every drop of clear, salty, savory, and sweet broth at Pho Vi Tells a story of dedication and pride. The pho has a northern style broth. it's very well seasoned, and cooked by way of a running a continuous boil. The owner takes great pride in how long the broth is cooked. From what I understand, the broth is cooker for at a minimum 16 hours. The non-Pho dishes are excellent as well. I would suggest ordering spring rolls to start, followed by the steak pho and a soft drink. After that I would top it off with a Vietnamese coffee, which they do it very well. The taste of the Vietnamese coffee brings back memories of sitting at a coffee table in Hanoi, motorcycle park, with a pack of Marlboro's on the table. The owner is a very nice man. Make sure to compliment him if you see him. This is a wonderful family business and I'm glad this restaurant is in the city. Below I have attached a photo of the broth, you can see the beautiful quality of the broth by how it glistens, and this is it in take out form. Even better in the resto!

Yelp
This was a disappointing lunch. I've been here once before a handful of years ago, and maybe the fact that I didn't have a strong recollection of that visit should have been enough of a sign, but the place seemed popular and we were hungry, so we gave it a try. Maybe the meat broth is worth it, but the vegetable broth has absolutely no flavor or substance. I can't tell you how many condiments I had to add, but even that wasn't enough to make it more than just palatable. The Vietnamese coffee was at least good. Hopefully next time I'll remember to hard pass on their pho.

John N.

Yelp
Great spot for Vietnamese food! Compares to little Saigon in California. Definitely reminds me of home.
google avatar

Christina L.

Yelp
We ordered spicy chicken vegetable pho and spicy beef ball pho, and only the vegetable pho came spicy. No big deal, we asked for hot sauce to make the beef ball pho spicy as well. The texture of the noodles was very nice, soft and silky. I wasn't a fan of the chicken breast as it was bland, but the veggies were good. I would come back for the veggie pho. I would recommend the large size though. The regular size is tiny.

Yelp
We went to Pho Vy for my boyfriend's birthday lunch with a group of friends. The pho is AMAZING, the staff is so friendly, and the prices are reasonable. Thank you Pho Vy for helping my boyfriend have a great birthday! We are from Boston and will be coming again when we return to Victoria.

Yelp
Picked up an order of salad rolls yesterday and on the way home... noticed there was a hair inside of one of the rolls - I pulled it out of my food (picture for reference). We called the restaurant once we parked outside of our house and the employee said there was nothing he could do. He said he was not an owner and could not compensate us for the inedible meal. After the constant back and forth, he then said to bring it back and he would make us another one but we weren't going to go all of the way downtown just for an order of salad rolls. We asked if we could just get another order another time and he began to tell us that he didn't do anything wrong (even though he was the only worker there so it had to have been his hair) and that we didn't understand where HE was coming from? The employee was getting so worked up and upset at us over a hair in OUR food from HIM! The conversation was honestly pointless and we will NOT be returning - we also do not recommend anyone else going there. You would think that they would be incredibly careful during a time of a pandemic and all we tried to do was support a local business but in the end got yelled at! Unbelievable!

Susana C.

Yelp
Did not like the pho at all. The soup was not tasty and the meat was fully raw when served. The ice tea was good, but it's mostly ice. I wouldn't say it's worth the price. The staff was nice and the food came super fast.

Stephen V.

Yelp
super quick service, delicious food, Pho Vy is hard to beat for Vietnamese eats in Victoria. The restaurant has a good variety of dishes all using tasty fresh ingredients. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff and the food was quick too!

Yelp
I ordered take-out on July 9, 2021. I spoke Vietnamese to to server to order and to my surprise she did not ... so I was not sure how the food would taste. But I was already there so I ordered 3 dishes: bún thịt nướng chả gio, cơm tôm rim & phở đặc biệt ... and to my surprise they were decent. I think if they used the shrimp with soft shell rather than the peeled shrimp the cơm tôm rim would be better. I thought it was strange to have coriander in the phở ... but it was just a garnish so it was ok.

Ayaka K.

Yelp
I tried the bun bo hue here and it was deliciously spicy. There was only one size available for this special noodle bowl, so it ended up being quite a big portion for me. Really great soup. The inside had a good amount of seating, making it good for a big group like ours to be seated together. It was a nice stop on a cold evening.
google avatar

Brett P.

Yelp
Be prepared for a wait. The interior is a little small, so the odds are that you'll have to wait before being sat. I ordered the pho, and I thought it was pretty good, but with it being hyped as the top pho place in Victoria, I was underwhelmed. As far as pho goes, I would say this place is pretty standard. I wouldn't wait to get in, but if there is a spot open (and you're in the mood for pho, go for it).
google avatar

Ryan Y.

Yelp
Not sure why the reviews are so low. I liked this place. It's a bit pricey, but delicious. The special salad rolls and pho special were delicious. I was disappointed that the salad rolls didn't come with peanut sauce. But, their orange sauce was OK. Wish there tendons in the pho special. Broth was solid.
google avatar

Yelp
They use to have a fantastic pho ga. But when they became cash only business it became difficult to patronize. Wonderfully friendly gentleman (manager)? Good staff? I'm sure the food is still excellent.
google avatar

Yelp
Quick summary here: Pho: broth tasted fine but the noodles were the WRONG kind. Real pho uses the thinner rice noodles and not the thick, wide ones. The ones used by Pho Vy were a cross between Pad Thai noodles and Pho noodles. A let down to me though it seems I am in the minority here. Rice combo dish: Much better choice and portion size is just enough. The charbroiled pork chop is marinated well and the dish itself is satisfying. Egg rolls. Crispy but small and pricey at $6 for just three. If I return, rice combo dish for sure. Pho Hoa maybe better for Pho across the street I would imagine.

Alex A.

Yelp
Not sure what happened to this place but am very disappointed in our last order . No cutlery no bowls to eat our pho out of and yes I told them prior not sure what else came with our food but it isn't spring rolls the soup was too cold to cook our noodles or beef. Had to be mircrowaved and we live a 6 minutes from the restaurant won't be returning

Yelp
This is probably my favorite restaurant in Victoria. The decor is nothing special, but the food is awesome. It gets extremely crowded at lunch time (every table full), so whenever I come for lunch or dinner, I always try to come early (11:30 am for lunch, or 5 pm for dinner). The service is amazing, and the ladies are very friendly! Something I love about Asian restaurants in general is no stupid chit chat about life, and how your day is going - just friendly, efficient, minimal banter.

Josh G.

Yelp
Soo good best spring rolls. Super nice people. Clean. What more could you want. Good vegan options. Will definitely be back at some point in my life.
google avatar

Josh V.

Yelp
This place gets one star simply because it's cash only... and has been for nearly a year. It's 2017. Even food trucks have debit/credit. Quit being so damn cheap and invest in a proper payment system.
google avatar

Jennifer H.

Yelp
Pho Vy is not for the posh dining room snobs, but where they fail in decor, they more than make up for in the food. You shouldn't judge a cafe by it's yellow and green sunshine colour scheme. I have traveled to many South East Asia countries and Pho's decor is perfectly in line with some of the best food adventures I've ever had. But enough about the paint. The service may not be the most talkative, but from the time it took us to walk from the car, stand in line, order and receive our food it was less than fifteen minutes. Service hint, order by number. My favorite is number 23, or brisket. Devinely tender brisket slices, vermicelli and a smooth broth. Throw in the sprouts and basil and it is the best bowl of Pho ever. I liken Pho's food to be like something someone's grandmother would make. And the bill is worth mentioning as well. Dinner for two for under $20. Can't beat that.
google avatar

William R.

Yelp
The place looks a bit run down and dirty and unfortunately because of good reviews we tried it out anyway. Mistake. The place is not clean, the food is not good and the service is just what you would expect in a place that is not well maintained: poor. Wish we never walked in the door.
google avatar

Jason L.

Yelp
The thought of offering any genuine Vietnamese pho joint 5 stars or less blows my mind, but unfortunately Pho Vy has earned a "Meh. I've experience better" 2 stars on Yelp. PHO: - Bland soup broth. I agree with the other reviewer who commented on it as being "Chinese" in flavor - Not your typical chewy thin strands of rice noodle, the noodles used here are wide and come in a hot mess in your bowl +/- Meat parts are so-so. The steak slices are fine although not rare enough, but the parts like the tripe and flank are good OTHERS: + Iced drip coffee with condensed milk will leave you with a "wow" on your face + Egg rolls were fine - Restaurant space is dark and ridiculously hot; don't believe me? Try walking in with anything less than t-shirts and a pair of shorts and then ordering a blazing hot bowl of pho If the name of your shop has the word "Pho" in it, I expect the focus to be on the pho. And in this case, their main star is completely lackluster.
google avatar

C B.

Yelp
Interior isn't the most amazing and the service is just OK but man the food is some of the dang best in Victoria and below market average for a plate. Fresh, delicious and healthy every time. Never let me down in at least 10 visits.
google avatar

Marc P.

Yelp
Easily my favourite place to get pho in Victoria. The broth is consistently excellent, the peanut sauce for the salad rolls is brilliant, the steak is of such good quality that you can order it on the side and let it cook in the broth after it gets to the table for a rarer steak. The service is generally quick, and the place is almost always packed. Highly recommended for anyone who loves pho

Ludek N.

Yelp
We ordered 4 different takeout meals by phone and we did not get what we ordered at all. Firstly One meal was a completely different number on the menu (35 became 47). Also we asked for "Com Tom Rim", three big tiger prawns with shrimps and got just shrimps with rice and salad (no tiger prawns to be seen anywhere)! None of the 4 meals were what we ordered as they all had elements missing. The soup we ordered was a sad attempt at replicating a traditional dish and although a favorite in Vietnam it did not measure up and was hard to finish. We were very disappointed with the service and authenticity and even more saddened that upon calling there was nothing offered to fix their mistakes. Would not recommend ordering from here, avoid disappointment and stay away from this business!

Yelp
Was recommended this restaurant by a friendly chap and his puppy Chulo! Glad we went! Papaya salad was sweet and spicy! Lovely salad rolls And Bun Bo Yummy! Iced coffee to finish! Ahhhh....

Yelp
I should have known lol. This place had a bit of a wait outside and positive reviews from customers waiting in addition to the reviews posted on the window from editors etc. I was expecting some really good pho, but since there was no aroma of pho...it wasn't that great. It's funny seeing people who aren't familiar with this dish eat it without dipping the spoon in the broth to get the combination of noodles and broth in every bite. I want to say something, but I can't lol. The broth was actually pretty good, but the noodles were kind of hard and different from the ones I'm used to. They also forgot to give me bo vien. :( It was expensive too! $9 for a bowl, but everything is expensive here so I guess that's a reasonable price.
google avatar

Mary M.

Yelp
Wonderful lemongrass chicken and yummy pho make this my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Victoria. It's worth the wait even if it's busy and the smells will keep you tantalized till your food arrives! *They only take cash or "tap" enabled credit cards.

Steve C.

Yelp
Love their #16 spicy pho!! Best in town!! Try it with vermicelli noodles!! Price is very reasonable for the quality and size of the dishes.
google avatar

Jim C.

Yelp
Used Yelp to find a decent pho place in Victoria and decided to try this place after reading the reviews. Not sure about this place because $11 for a large bowl is pretty expensive. The large bowl wasn't even huge it was probably a regular in other restaurants in Vancouver. The taste was pretty decent and the soup broth was flavorful. But I felt that there should have been a lot more meat inside it. Also ordered the shrimp salad rolls for take out and to be honest, it was expensive at $7.25. The peanut sauce that came with it was bland.
google avatar

Lynzie V.

Yelp
Pho broth was good, not great. Noodles had an unwashed taste to them. Broth to noodle ratio could have been better. I had little broth after mixing everything. I think the bowls should just be a little bigger for more broth?
google avatar

Toni M.

Yelp
Great Pho and Salad rolls! A must try if you are in the area. Good ingredients and a staff that were attentive.
google avatar

Eric M.

Yelp
My favourite pho place in Victoria, #18 Large! been coming here for years. All my friends and family that moved away always come back to have pho here! Family style restaurant.
google avatar

Duy K.

Yelp
Walked passed two Vietnamese restaurants (Saigon Harbour Restaurant and Pho Hoa) to get here based on the yelp reviews. Was quite disappointed, service was slow, portions were small (ordered a regular for 9 dollars, it was borderline medium) and the sprouts\basil were old. The pho broth was meh. I also had a order of fried spring rolls, they were pretty bland. I really don't know how this place has a high rating to begin with. As much as I dispise Pho Hoa, I was thinking at the time that might of been a better choice. Two days later, I went to Saigon Harbour Restaurant and they were a lot better. I would recommend them over this place dispite their review rating.

Nicky T.

Yelp
Disgusting! After I already ate 2 of the salad rolls I noticed a thick long black hair in the last one! Literally threw up! Wear a hair net or something! Wtf! will never eat here again! Dirty! There was a long black hair in the candy dish too! Nasty place
google avatar

Eric B.

Yelp
I'll give it a 4/5 b/c the broth is damn good and finding good broth with pho is really, really hard. I had trouble stopping my slurping of the broth. The rest of the experience is ok - the serving size is a bit small especially for the money. My large 22 was supposed to be brisket and meatballs and the brisket was not fatty and very crumbly while the meatball count was 3 quarters - I'm accustomed to a bit of fat in my brisket and a meatball count closer to 10 than to 1. Worth a stop in my opinion.
google avatar

Amanda J.

Yelp
My boy and I are pho fanatics. Going out for pho is an integral part of our relationship. We had "our" pho place when he lived in Toronto, and now that he's in Victoria, Pho Vy is quickly becoming it's replacement. The service is, well, brisk... and you may have to ask for your pot of tea or your second chopstick more than a couple of times, or see tables that arrived after you get served way before you... But the food is so consistently good that we keep coming back. We actually get cravings for their garlic pork salad rolls, and the pho always leaves you full and satisfied and happy.

Jesse T.

Yelp
Dropped in for a quick lunch of chicken/prawn/lemongrass vermicelli. In addition I ordered a "coffee with milk" which was similar to the Indonesian, Kopi Susu (Coffee with evaporated milk). The coffee dripped into a glass 1/4 filled with sweet milk from a metal filter set on the top. I wasn't entirely sure how to drink it but the after the server/owner filled me in, yum. The meal tasted fresh and was quite delicious. The service was prompt and friendly. The restaurant itself was basic but had a bit of charm. I'll likely return for dinner in the not to distant future. Recommended!

Yelp
The best authentic pho you can get!!!! Very small place and gets packed easily. But worth the wait!
