Everything here tastes amazing! From the appetizers (calamari, fresh rolls, etc) to the main dish pho, everything was delicious. Our party of six ordered six different types of pho, and every dish was flavorful, with tender meat. I especially loved that the broth came out boiling hot—it’s a standard every other pho place should learn from Phonatik. Boiling hot, and absolutely perfect! The only downside is that the big bone option is only available on weekends. Revisit intention: Yes Vibe: Pass Cleanliness: Pass Food: Pass Service: Pass

Great Food, Endless Wait 🙂‍↕️ If you’re someone who values incredible flavors and doesn’t mind waiting an eternity, literally an eternity, to get them, this place is for you. The food here is, without a doubt, exceptional. However, be prepared to dedicate a significant portion of your day. The wait time to be seated was fair, but the time between ordering and receiving our food felt eternal. Would I return? Only if I have nothing else planned for the day. If they could match their service speed with the quality of their food, this would easily be a five-star experience. Until then, it’s 3 stars for me—2 for the food, and 1 for the test of patience. And it’s like this every single time I go here.

Google
Their Pho is delicious! I recommend getting their Salmon Spring Roll and Crab Wonton as well.

Best pho in town but they really need to invest in paper plates on to go orders ...because foam always melted with hot meals, for example like there eggrolls

Google
Place is ok , if you are ready to wait 45 minutes for a starter. Pho is good. I was not able to find salmon in Alaskan “salmon” spring rolls 🤷‍♂️😄 Staff is friendly, but 2 ppl are not enough to serve whole restaurant, everything is lasting soooo loooooong , you can spend 2 hour from seat to check. They also don’t have Apple Pay 🤦‍♂️

All I can say is wow! I have never been here before and it was busy, but so welcoming. The staff right from the start treated me like I was worth everything! I tried ordering to go as I was working and I hadn’t eaten at all today. They told me about a 40 min wait so I politely explained I’m lightheaded and I really need to eat before I pass out so I’ll have to come back another time and cancel the order; The gentleman working the front told me to wait a moment and he (and another wonderful woman!) came out almost immediately with my food for me and made sure I was okay. I have never eaten here before until today, but after this interaction, and some AMAZING pho and crab rangoons, I will be a life long customer now! Thank you all for making all the difference in my day 💗 Even busy, the sweetest staff and I felt so welcome. You guys are amazing!

This restaurant has such poor management, I am so surprised they are still in business.,often, they don't answer phone calls, if lucky, someone answers the phone, often, it takes at least 45 minutes to pick up. They also increase the price so often in the past few years ,one time we waited for 20 minutes no one came to serve, we left the restaurant , the quality of pho combo is not consistent, sometimes so greasy, sometimes not much flavor, sometimes brown dark color, the beef is not fresh, very thin slice, not only they increase the price, they also cut down the quality.A key to success -1: reasonable price 2: consistent flavor 3: great customer service-without customers there is no profit-no wages, no existence of your business. I wish every restaurant will improve their management, we are their long term customers for so many years, we are heart broken their service went down hill,we only pray they will improve and last a long time

Long wait to be seated in a small area. Not so friendly staffs. The place isn't as welcoming as before. Took a long time to get a beer and food. I use to love going there, but I don't think I would go back again. It was supposed to be a place for my daughter's BD.

Yelp
Chilly evening which means a hot soup, in this case Pho, as this is filling and warms you up on a cold day. I can remember when they first opened, and showed a lot of promise, now fast forward, they have matured into the place to go for Pho. The Pho itself has strong yet very balanced depth of flavor, I had the combo which had meatballs, tendon, tripe, brisket, flank, and steak. Broth piping hot, and adding the fresh basil and bean sprouts with just a squeeze of the lime just puts this over the top. Very pleased, and definitely too 2 Pho in Alaska, and the great service just brings everything together.

Yelp
I've been a regular at PHOnatik Vietnamese Cuisine & Lounge, usually ordering takeout at least once a week; it's my go-to spot for delicious pho. The food is consistently excellent -- I always go for the oxtail pho, which never disappoints. The broth is rich and flavorful, with the perfect balance of spices, and the oxtail is tender and succulent. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. While I've never had issues with the quality of the food, the only downside is that the wait times can be a little long, especially during peak hours. That being said, the quality is always worth the wait, and it's clear that they take pride in what they serve. If you're a pho lover, PHOnatik is definitely worth checking out. Just plan a little extra time if you're ordering during busy hours!

Calee C.

Yelp
Just moved up here from OKC looking for a specific broth flavor and i found it here!! The flavor was great even for takeout. They answered the phone quickly, prepared our order by the time we arrived, and the servings!!! That was almost too much meat for me and normally I can't get enough! Definitely worth a try.

Yelp
Wow! Not just because the food was that good, but (and not to sound snobby or Elite-ist) who knew Anchorage, Alaska had pho like this? Salmon or moose or reindeer sure (and will definitely review those when I try it) but ox tail and pho and rolls this good? No way! Anywho, oxtail - excellent. absolutely perfect. whether your hungry or not, get the biggest bowl of it possible (not the man v pho challenge big. or whatever. do what you like). meat falling off the bone. some tasty un-rendered fat. tender. flavor that's only achieved when slow cooked. one of the best I've ever had. pho ga - my girl killed it. rich broth. plenty of noodles. tons of chicken. bun with grilled chicken - fresh and light and filling. great combo of veggies and noodles. liked the way their chicken is prepared - seasoning and grilling did it. only wish we asked for a vinaigrette instead of the side of fish sauce. grilled pork rolls - order a couple and eat as soon as it arrives. nothing better than fresh grilled proteins with noodles and herbs all wrapped up in a neatly hand held roll. Service - Matt was attentive and informative and kind enough to suggest other eateries for us to try. Ambiance - spacious. cozy. very chill. and of course it's in a strip mall. lol.

Yelp
Food A+ Tasty! With amazing flavor to the Pho. Service B- Great service but lack on timing. Ambiance B+ Great selection of music

alexandra k.

Yelp
We ordered the large bowl with oxtail, tripe, and squid. The pho broth was so flavorful, we were tempted to come back for another round a different day! The oxtail had a good amt of tender meat still on it! The service was surprisingly slow for a pho place, but the soup came out hot and was perfect since the place's A/C was running high (bring a jacket!)

Yelp
I was surprised at how nice the interior was . The menu was a little daunting but our server was able to guide me through it .The service was fast and friendly . I met friends there and we were visiting as well as having lunch . Our server did not make us feel rushed . This was especially nice . All in all this was a pleasant dining experience. I gave this place 4stars instead of five because the food was just ok !

Yelp
Cool spot in Anchorage with some delicious pho! We came in on a Saturday early evening, and the place was busy but not yet packed (which changed during our time there!). This is the only pho I've had in Anchorage, so I can't compare it to other options in town (just visiting), but I thought it was very good. The most important part of pho, IMHO, is the broth, and Phonatik produces a flavorful broth without being too salty! I always order my pho with the rare thin sliced steak, though thought it was a nice that they offer a choose-your-own option where you get to select three different protein options from a list of choices, which is what my friend did. The menu also includes an array of fresh rolls and apps, and other entrees besides just pho. My favorite part about eating at Phonatik was our server (sadly I don't remember her name). She was soooo sweet and working hard to cover all of the tables. Just had a very kind energy, you know? All in all, a good experience and would recommend or come back on a future trip to A-town.

Yelp
Pho was excellent and service was quick. Lots of options including either chicken or beef broth. Spring roll was very good with the peanut sauce.

John W.

Yelp
Fast and friendly service. Nice crusty bread on the flavor packed pork bahn mi. Highly recommended sandwich. I had the chicken broth soup with chicken and bok choy. Great flavors and well balanced proportions. I would've preferred chunks of chicken over the thinner slices but it was delicious. I wouldn't hesitate to go back here again.

Terry M.

Yelp
Vietnam pork chops smelled and tasted like lighter fluid ..chicken dish was old and not fresh phos broth very good water served luke warm.

Sinyo C.

Yelp
My first time in Alaska. I was looking for pho which is perfect for cold weather and found this place. They have great food and great service which made the dinning experience even better.

Eric A.

Yelp
Best banh mi sandwich I've had in Anchorage. I live in East Anchorage and it's good enough to travel all the way to Dimond to get again. I ordered the pork sandwich. It is a little spicy, which I love. Also ordered pho to go. Haven't tried it yet but the add-ins to pho were well packaged. Very pleasant service. Short-staffed like many places but they forewarn of a slight wait. I was there Saturday for lunch. Wait was estimated at 15-20 minutes. Received my food at about 15 minutes. Highly recommend. My wife and I will definitely go back.

Savannah P.

Yelp
Best Pho I have had in my lifetime. The food was great, and the soup was steaming hot. Had a strawberry lychee smoothie that was delicious.

Yelp
This use to be a solid place for Pho. We loved going to Phonatik and tell people to go here. Past 2 times were bad and last night was horrible. The only time our server was attentive and smiled was when he handed me the credit card receipt for me to sign and include the tip. The biggest let down was the noodles were slightly crunchy and the Pho was lukewarm. It was the worst bowl of Pho I ever had. I understand a restaurant can have a bad night now and then but 3 visits in a row is disappointing. I really hope they find a way to get back to the standards they opened with.

Lahela R.

Yelp
We eat here often! At least a couple times a month. Our servers are always nice and attentive despite how busy they usually are. The food is delicious. I LOVE their beef stew pho and sometimes will switch it up with a make it yourself pho (the brisket, rare steak, and meatballs are my go to). My husband and the kids usually share a grilled pork plate which is delicious and has a good amount of food. For appetizers we get the fresh rolls (my favorite in town) and the deep fried egg rolls. We will continue coming back time and time again :)

Onaca D.

Yelp
I REALLY love this place BUT! They constantly turn their phone off and so I can't order for pickup via the phone. So instead of ordering ahead I have to go in person and wait 45 min for them to make my food to go. I don't like to do that so I usually just opt for eating somewhere else. Food is 10/10 they are really good about allergies as well which is important for me. They just need to turn their damn phone on. I'm not even kidding one time I called 55 times thinking the line was busy and I ended up going in and the lady at the front desk told me that they turned the phone off earlier and forgot to turn it back on. Now they offer delivery, how are you supposed to deliver when your phone is turned off? Anyway.

Dawn L.

Yelp
Came here for my first time ever having pho and I was not disappointed. The service was fast and friendly, the restaurant itself was cute, clean, and quiet enough to hold a conversation, and of course the pho was super tasty. I've been craving pho ever since I ate here. I think it might be my new addiction. If you're looking for a great pho restaurant, this place is a winner pho sure!

Vahe M.

Yelp
The pho here is very flavorful and yummy but the reason for the 3 stars was the soup had to be atleast 200 degrees when coming to my table my entire gums and tongue are singed and it's been 3 days still affected. Cool down your guys soup!!!

Jessica J.

Yelp
I love this place! The Beef Stew Pho Bowl is amazing, as well as the avocado smoothie. Consistent quality and service.

Sondra J.

Yelp
I love their pork and fried tofu Banh mi sandwiches! These sandwiches rock. I always order them for pickup. The shrimp chips that come with the sandwiches are also a treat, Hands down the best Banh mi sandwiches in Anchorage. Great service!

Veronica P.

Yelp
One of my favorite places for pho! The only problem is that they have super cheap to go soup containers that they tape together with scotch tape instead of buying sturdy ones and 1 of every 3 to go dinners I get end up spilled all over my kitchen or car and then I've wasted money and what is Pho without the broth? I wish I had a picture.. I'll post one next time I order from them!

Julieta R.

Yelp
Sooo good!! I would come back to Alaska just for the pho. Servers were super friendly and was quite quick.

Melody L.

Yelp
I've supported this place since it's opened. I was there from the beginning and even when I left and came back home I supported this place. It's just changed. The quality of food has gone way down hill in my opinion for me. The few times I've been here I've only gotten service once that was nice and always waited on even when it was busy. I wasn't fond of my server at all. She seemed to favor helping the men over me and she still expected a tip. I ended up tipping in the end, but unless you are completely nasty to me, that's when I don't tip. She seemed to have "tried". The issue that really upset me was my Thai tea. They put it in a Togo cup which is totally fine. My issue was it was lacking like an inch of tea. Like it was filled 80% of the way. When it cost $5 for Thai tea, you need to fill it up or you're just ripping people off and saying fuck you. I complained and said, where the rest of the tea? They said it must be the ice it made it look filed up... seemed like they hoped I wouldn't notice. They seem short staffed right now. So I don't know if that's an issue, but why did the table next to me with 3 people and then there is just me at one table get their order first after I ordered way before them? Now, the #1 phonetic pho... it was watery and flavorless. I could taste a little flavor, but if you are Asian and have grown up with pho you know this broth is supposed to be flavorful, powerful, spice full with a soft mellow beefy or a light chicken smooth flavor that warms the soul. It makes you feel...like you're visiting your home country in a way. I ended up leaving 90% at the restaurant I couldn't stomach it. It just tasted all wrong and it upset me because I've been having problems eating and I knew pho was something I could eat and all I wanted was a nice bowl of warm beef pho. I won't even go into my issue with the crab rangoons. They just aren't the same as they used to be. This used to be my go to, but over the past few years I have found another place. I decided to try this place after a few months of my other bad experience, I have decided to not come back. I'll give it 3 stars out of 5, only because I just don't know if this place is really that bad. There are so many positive comments and this place was packed it seems like it's good to a lot of people. I ended up letting them know about the broth in the end and they said they would talk to the kitchen. It just doesn't live up to my expectations.

Dexter R.

Yelp
Haven't been here in years but still tastes the way I remember. We came here while it was busy but the service was incredibly slow. It took about 10 min just from the time we sat down to when our order was taken and much longer for our food to actually come out. I think I will order to go in the future.

Daniella A.

Yelp
I'm rarely in this area for a meal time, but have been wanting to try Phonatik for over a year. I've been to their sister bakery Benji's a few times so I knew I'd be in for a treat. Finally was able to try them out yesterday afternoon since my mom was in town, and was not disappointed! The food was delicious, and I love the decor. Most Asian restaurants I've come across in Alaska have huge menus, and are a combo of more than one country's cuisine. I like that phonatik focuses only on Vietnamese cuisine, and they do it well. Firstly, they're taking COVID precautions seriously with temperature checks, and they are using disposable cups and silverware to serve even dine in customers. All the sauces have also been placed in single serve containers. Service was prompt and friendly! I ordered a mixed berry smoothie for my toddler, but got to drink some of it. What a yummy smoothie! Wasn't expecting the whipped cream, but it was a nice touch. The adults stuck with water for lunch, but they also serve beer & wine which is a nice touch for dinner time. I wanted to order a bit of everything so that's exactly what I did since I had someone to share lunch with. For an appetizer we got the Alaskan signature spring roll. It was tasty. I wish there was a bit more salmon in the roll because they were large, but mainly noodles. For the main course we ordered a pork banh mi, and a large pho "your way". We did oxtail, rare steak and tripe. The banh mi was really delicious. The pork was cooked perfectly, and almost melted in your mouth. The bread was fresh, and the exterior of the bun was crispy with a nice soft inside. The shrimp chips were a nice touch. The pho portion was generous. It had tons of noodles, and nice chunks of meat. The broth was very flavorful just on its own. The Thai basil and lime adds great flavor, and I like spicing things up with jalapeño and sauces. We had more than enough pho to take for leftovers. Overall Phonatik was a very good experience. The food is delicious, and even though the menu isn't huge it highlights some of the most popular Vietnamese dishes.

Yelp
I have been coming here for YEARS so here goes an overdue review. We come here every other Sunday and love everything about this place. They greet you and let you know to sit anywhere you would like. They get pretty packed so we try and get there as soon as they open (noon on Sundays). Staff is welcoming and kind. Unlike other pho restaurants, menu is simple and small which I love!!! To start, the egg rolls and especially the crab wontons are a must try. I find the spring rolls to be overpriced and mediocre compared to other places. Their smoothies a must. Open floor sitting, nice modern vibes, and always playing music I can sing along to (90's/2000s throwbacks). Let's talk about the pho! Broth is amazing 9/10. Only thing I can say is that sometimes they can be a bit inconsistent. Some days the broth hits the spot and other days it taste a little too freshly made without the deep heart filling touch but still good. However, today, the broth hit different and was probably the best I've had from them in years which inspired me to write a review lol. My favorite thing on the menu is the oxtail pho and least favorite would be beef stew. Beef stew was too greasy for me (i did give it a try multiple times). Food, service, atmosphere wise--best place to get pho in Anchorage. Definitely my top pick amongst other local favs.

My'Onjia T.

Yelp
This establishment is the 4th pho place I've been to and I think it's my favorite!! I ordered the classic rare steak pho, reindeer wantons (spicy and delicious) and shrimp/chicken spring rolls. The broth of the pho was very yummy and the vegetables that came on the side tasted very fresh. We visited this place on a Sunday and it was busier than I had expected which is fine because the servers greeted and took our order in a timely manner. The decor was very nice and relaxing. There were many different ethnicities in the place enjoying the Vietnamese dishes that were offered. They even have a manvspho challenge that was pretty cool to see on the menu! I will surely be coming back the next time I'm craving some good pho.

Mary E.

Yelp
Came in for dinner only to be told we would not be able to purchase alcohol by our server. Asked that one who could take our order could come so we can order drinks, keep in mind this is for two people not a full table. The server informed us someone would be by to take our drink order the food was served still no drinks. Then a couple came in as our meal was now done and after 5 mins a server came at took the alcohol order. The bathroom was also very unkept and the Ambiance of the night was rushed inconsiderate and very disappointing. Day time seems to be even busier yet ten staff is more professional and ATTENTIVE!!

Jesse C.

Yelp
Service was very slow. We waited over an hour for our food. We had to ask our server if we could place our order.

Sarah G.

Yelp
The decor in this restaurant is so nice! I loved Keep Calm and Pho On saying on the wall. However, the service was horrible. It didn't take me long to be seated because I went alone. I waited 20 minutes to even place my order or receive water. Then I waited another 30 minutes to receive my small bowl shrimp pho. The shrimp pho only had 3 shrimp in it. The broth was flavorful but I received hardly any noodles. After reading all these reviews, I thought my experience would be better. On the other hand, I will be looking for a new Pho spot to visit when I come back for vacations. It's safe to say this spot did not compare to my go to spot in Florida.

Jarek H.

Yelp
Great service and the food is good. Try the pork spring rolls and Thai coffee! They offer take out and dine in.

Susan S.

Yelp
I've been to quite a bit of Pho places but this place has a nice vibe to it. The service was okay for the time first time going there. The first time we went there they were really busy. We had the oxtail Pho and it was delicious. They didn't bring us out veggies but, I understand they were really busy. The place was clean and the waiter was very attentive. We had to try this place one more time. This time it was not so busy and the waiter knew what we're drinking. This time the service was awesome. I would definitely recommend this place.

Jen J.

Yelp
I like the food from phonation but lord it takes forever. Dine in takes a long time. Take out takes eons. I always give them an extra 20-30 minute on top of the quoted time, because of how slow they are, and it's never ready! I find myself constantly waiting an extra 10-20 minutes in person. I never come here when I'm starving. And sadly, they don't always pick up their phones. Pho Dimond is my go to for a quick, consistent, and reliable pho spot.

Bridget L.

Yelp
I've been here 4 times since moving here a couple months ago. Just brought my co-workers and they enjoyed everything. First off it gets busy so you may have to wait. We waited 15 min last week because we came during the dinner rush. So far I've had Oxtail pho 10/10: SO flavorful, just like they make in Hawaii. Melt off the bone meat with that ginger and star anise flavor. Raw steak pho 8/10: was good but not as flavorful Chicken pho 10/10: one of the better chicken pho's I've ever had. Caliphonia spring rolls 10:10: OMG!!! These are so freaking flavorful and healthy and I could eat them every single day. Going to order again soon. Reindeer won tons 9/10: very good flavor just very spicy for my liking. Thai tea: supa good too. Calamari 5/10: my co-worker didn't like, the pieces were to large and texture unappetizing. Over all this is one of my favorite places to eat, will be back.

Star B.

Yelp
I really love this place, very delicious food! I love the Ox Tail soup and husband loves to get the Hungry Man dish. I would really recommend this place.

Kelly C.

Yelp
It's not outstanding or like a Ruth Chris steakhouse you're not going to get the service you are dying for you were going to get the food you are craving and it will satisfy you on top of that. The service is great. The environment is lovely and the ambience of the lighting is perfect with the foodhighly recommend

Zurdar G.

Yelp
Rare steak pho was hearty and summer rolls with fried tofu were on point. The bahn mi takes a hot minute to make but it turned out delicious, we got it to go. Vietnamese iced coffee was ok. I prefer a little bit stronger. Awesome service, loved the music!

Patsy M.

Yelp
we arrived at 5:30 pm on a Saturday - the front desk asked us to seat ourselves - the bus person gave us water and after about ten minutes I walked up to the front desk and asked if we could have a server - ten minutes later I walked over again and asked if we could have a server - after another ten min - thirty mins total a young man came over and took the order of two women who had just sat down - we flagged down another server and he took out order - though he said his shift had ended. We ordered a spring roll and one pho and one rice bowl - after about twenty five mins of being completely ignored with no food we just left - no one said a word to us. Phonetik was no overly busy - there were several empty tables. no one was waiting to be seated - and there seemed to be several servers and bus persons available. They just decided we we not worth their time. THE worst service ever... horrible - should be no stars

Marcy R.

Yelp
My favorite pho restaurant in Anchoroge. The beef stew is the most amazing dish. Everyone I bring here is instantly addicted. I think and Eagle River location would do well...wink wink.

Yer T.

Yelp
First time here. Locals recommended this place and family who ate here the day before said the pho was comparable to what we have at home. Pretty neat little place. Pho was flavorful. The salmon roll had too much Mayo for the spread, per family members who ate it. Otherwise, the experience was good.

John N.

Yelp
Small spot, but a little more upscale than other pho restaurants around town. You also won't be limited to soup. Their bánh mì is legit. Not a bad choice to take a date.

Timothy H.

Yelp
Easy quick and delicious. Always satisfying. The service is fantastic. Not great for little kids but that's not the restaurant's fault.

Elena F.

Yelp
I came back here after not having a good experience a few years ago. I was recommended their Banh Mi sandwich by an acquaintance. I ordered their Chicken Banh Mi and I have to say that it's one of the best I've had in town. They give you a side of fish flavored chips, which are similar to pork rinds. They're a pretty good side to the sandwich. I love the way they cook the chicken in the house sauce they make for it. It's also pretty good with chili sauce, if that's your thing. I'll definitely be coming back here next time I have a Banh Mi craving.

Richard N.

Yelp
We usually all get the Pho 3 ways and do Triple Brisket. Today I'm getting a Chicken Pho To Go! Judy just can't shake her cold and Grandmom Micki went to the ER today for some hip pains. So I'm headed to them to pick up a care package of PhoLove in a bowl. Love their Bahn Mi sandwich with a yolky egg and their spring rolls too! Called ahead, about 20 minutes for them to have it ready. Just got here and it's ready! Here comes some PhoLove Baby!

Anne L.

Yelp
Food tastes great, broth was flavorful but the price vs the thickness of meat brought it down for me. Summary: Place you'd bring your friends for the ambiance but not your Asian immigrant parents...if you know what I mean I should've learned by now to never get fresh spring rolls in a restaurant... It'll never be as good as home made, but man at the price of $4 something PER ONE ROLL, I thought the meat would be at least as thick as thick-cut bacon and shrimp should be whole but it's not! No where close actually, paper thin meat which I'm pretty impressed with the chef skills... The wait was insane... Came on labor day, COVID, dining-in allowed at half capacity... It took me over an hour to sit (there were tables that needed to be cleared), order my food and eat. Got here around 4:30ish and they just didn't have enough people working. Even the call ahead take out orders had to wait...

Yelp
The lack of service is truly not acceptable. We went in on a busy Sunday and our sever never even spoke to us - instead he stood next to us chatting with friends for at least 15 minutes, ignoring all the tables waiting for someone to take an order. We ended up leaving without eating. Unfortunate because we have loved the food here.
