This old fortress is surrounded by a beautiful park, but unfortunately, activities like picnicking or walking pets are no longer allowed. It’s a bit sad—when I was younger, people used to come here for all sorts of activities, and it felt much more lively. But I do understand the need to protect and preserve the heritage. Maybe not everyone treated the space with the care it deserved.

The park behind the fort is very nice with stunning view to Rama VIII bridge. Many seatings by the river and a public toilet nearby. Big bats flying around tall trees make it a memorable experience.

It is surrounded by a park. I don’t think anyone can enter. Nice to walk around it in the day to take nice photos of it

Phra Sumen Fort: A Peaceful Spot by the River Phra Sumen Fort is just a short walk from Phra Arthit Express Boat Pier—perfect for a relaxing stroll and watching a beautiful sunset. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, this area was full of life, with both Thai and international tourists stopping by. There’s an open area for exercising and aerobics, and a grassy lawn where people used to lay down mats to relax and enjoy the view of the Chao Phraya River. From there, you can see two bridges: Pinklao Bridge on the left, and Rama VIII Bridge on the right. In the past, many dinner cruises from various hotels would sail by, beautifully lit up as they turned around beneath Rama VIII Bridge. The scene at night was simply magical. We don’t know how long it will take for that lively atmosphere to return—but what we can do now is help keep this space clean and well-preserved so it can continue to be enjoyed for years to come.

Very nice park. One of only two of the original forts. Go in the morning and it was nearly empty, very good pics with the sunrise in the background. No smoking or alcohol.

It's a great little park area where many locals and tourists come to relax. Plenty space for a picnic or exercise. Personally, it is my favourite spot to watch the sunset and boats cruising on the river. In the evening there is a chance to practise dancing with local people and listen to the music . Can't wait to go back there. It's one of my favourite spots in Bangkok .

This park is truly a feast for the eyes, with its lush greenery and vibrant flowers. The historic fort stands proudly, a testament to the past. A gentle breeze whispers through the trees, creating a peaceful ambiance. One can easily lose track of time while strolling along the winding paths. It's the perfect place to relax and appreciate the beauty of nature and history.
