10 Cheap Tropical Places to Travel Around the World, According to Travel Experts

Had a really pleasant experience at Phu Quoc International Airport. The entire process, right from arrival to immigration, was smooth and well-organized. The immigration staff were polite, efficient, and helpful, ensuring that everything moved quickly and without confusion. The airport itself is clean, modern, and easy to navigate, which made the whole experience quite comfortable. What stood out was the variety of shops and eateries inside — from souvenirs to snacks and local specialties, everything was reasonably priced compared to many other international airports. It was refreshing to see that shopping here didn’t feel overpriced or overly touristy. The staff at the stores and counters were equally courteous and approachable, adding to the overall pleasant experience. Overall, Phu Quoc International Airport left a great impression — well-managed, traveler-friendly, and the perfect start or end to a tropical island getaway. 🌴🇻🇳

The arrival process took a long time, especially at immigration. It was quite slow despite not being very crowded. However, the airport layout is very straightforward, so there’s no confusion in finding your way. Everything is well-signed and easy to navigate. On the other hand, the departure process was fast and efficient. Check-in and security were smooth and didn’t take much time at all. Overall, a mixed experience — slow arrival, but quick and easy departure.

It is a small airport but modern and efficient. Got all the necessary amenities and services. There are some restaurants outside the arrival on ground level. At the departure hall, there are only cafes with some food option. Immigration and security screening are efficient. There are water dispenser after the security near the departure waiting area. Seats are plenty. Toilets are clean and well maintained.

Excellent Experience at Phu Quốc International Airport Phu Quốc International Airport exceeded my expectations and made traveling to and from the island a breeze. The airport is modern, clean, and well-organized, offering a smooth and efficient experience from check-in to boarding. Despite being smaller than major international airports, it has all the necessary amenities and a welcoming atmosphere. The staff were professional, friendly, and helpful throughout the entire process. Immigration and security procedures were quick and straightforward, with minimal wait times. The terminal is air-conditioned, with clean restrooms and comfortable seating areas, which made waiting for my flight much more pleasant. There are several shops and cafes offering local products, snacks, and souvenirs at reasonable prices. I especially enjoyed grabbing

The airport is small but does the job. However, there aren’t many food options for foreigners most of the food is local, and it’s hard to find something familiar. The only place we recognized was Starbucks. What really ruined my experience was how the staff treated me and my 3-year-old daughter. At security, they demanded that my little girl go through by herself and leave me behind. She was scared and started to cry because she didn’t want to be alone. Instead of understanding that she’s just a small child, the staff started yelling and screaming at her, which made her even more frightened. It broke my heart to see her so scared. Airports should be more understanding and kind, especially when it comes to young children. This experience left a very bad impression on us.

2025.8.7 (Thurs) Waiting at gate 11 now. It’s a small regional airport. Don’t expect much. Rather new (feels modern) but not terribly well maintained. No wifi. Overpriced limited shops and cafes. I agree with some of the reviews here. Staff are not interested in their jobs. Poor attitude.

Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC) offers a streamlined and efficient experience for domestic arrivals, catering to travelers seeking a hassle-free entry to the island. Disembarkation and Terminal Entry: Upon landing, passengers are guided from the aircraft to the terminal via covered walkways or shuttle buses, depending on the parking position. 2. Baggage Claim: The baggage claim area is well-organized, with luggage typically arriving within 10–15 minutes. Clear signage and helpful staff assist in ensuring a smooth process. 3. Customs and Exit: For domestic flights, customs procedures are minimal. After collecting luggage, travelers can proceed directly to the exit, where various transportation options are available. ⸻ 🧳 Facilities and Amenities • Cleanliness and Maintenance: The terminal is noted for its cleanliness and modern facilities, providing a comfortable environment for travelers. • CIP Lounge: For those seeking additional comfort, the domestic terminal houses a CIP lounge offering snacks, Wi-Fi, flight monitors, newspapers, magazines, TVs, and a smoking area. • Dining and Shopping: While options are somewhat limited, there are food stalls and shops available. Phu Quoc Airport is a small yet charming airport surrounded by lush greenery, making for a beautiful and peaceful atmosphere. Though compact, it has all the essential amenities needed for a comfortable airport experience. It’s simple, clean, and easy to navigate. Our flight was unfortunately delayed by 3 hours, and the check-in counters hadn’t opened yet, so we had some time to explore. We headed to Cherry Blossom Restaurant, located right at the airport—and what a lovely surprise! The ambience was amazing, the decor was eye-catching, and the food was absolutely delicious. We tried the avocado smoothie, chicken banh mi, and egg fried rice—everything was fresh and flavorful. The avocado smoothie especially stood out—so creamy and refreshing! After check-in, we spent some time inside the airport where I grabbed a Vietnamese coffee from a small café. Honestly, it was one of the best cups of coffee I’ve had at an airport—rich, strong, and perfectly balanced. Except for the flight delay, everything else about the experience was smooth and enjoyable. A calm, clean airport with good food options—definitely made the wait better!
