I’ve visited Phuket International Airport twice, and overall, the airport is well-maintained and organized. However, I had some frustrating experiences, especially with the baggage handling and liquid policy.
According to regulations, they allow only 100ml of liquid per item, but they threw away my shampoo bottle and even my water bottle at the security check. Meanwhile, inside the airport, they sell liquor and water in the shops—items that are allowed but contradict the restrictions for passengers. This inconsistency feels unfair, especially when the prices inside the shops are incredibly high, and not all travelers can afford them.
Additionally, the airport charges an exorbitant fee for luggage—4200 THB for 20kg, which is roughly 10,000 INR. This felt like a scam, and I ended up losing a suitcase due to the cost of the luggage service. I was really frustrated and nearly depressed, but thankfully, one of the attendants helped me transfer my luggage, which was a relief.
Overall, while the airport is nice and well-maintained, the baggage fees, inconsistent liquid policies, and overpriced shops left a sour impression on my experience. ✈️ 🧳
