Pizza is so Great!!! and also the salad! Must try. All the staff are nice and friendly. Meatball pasta is also a nice option. It is a great place to stay while traveling! ☺️

Yash Thapar

Google
The best place in st John’s to have quality and most delicious pizza. Great options and delicious wine options. Do ask for Tim, very nice and hold good knowledge about the menu and wine. In the photo ignore the chilly flakes. (I love spicy). Must visit.

Google
Honestly really impressed. The soup had way more flavour than I expected, super warm and comforting. Toast was perfectly crispy without being dry. The pizza was authentic in flavour and definitely so good I ordered a take home kit after, and it turned out great at home too. Service was friendly, and the atmosphere felt cozy but relaxed, will come back.

Google
A casual pizza place serving authentic Neapolitan-style margherita pizza. This place was so good I ended up coming here twice during our trip. Tip: their VPN pizzas are the best.

Google
Amazing food! We had the fettuccine and a pizza. Both were excellent. Pizza crust was soft and light, not your typical rock hard crust. The fettuccine was delicious, with nice house made pasta. Tried the meatballs as an appetizer… outstanding! It was quite busy and a little noisy though. Excellent server, too. Personable and helpful.

Google
The pizza was wonderful. Sat at the bar and watched them come out of the wood fired oven. The process of converting the dough to pizza was amazing. None of the pizzas came out of the wood oven blackened which has been our typical experience with wood fired pizzas. We also had the meatballs in marinara sauce which were very flavourful. Definitely worth checking out when in St. John's. Closest pizza to ones we had in Italy.

Google
Lovely pizza spot! Any place that does goat cheese justice is a 5 star in my books. Nice desserts, not your typical menu there but you'll absolutely find something you'll love. If they happen to have the salted caramel gelato.... soo good! And the cioccolato italiano is also divine. Try: Funghi e pancette, with the beet salad!

Google
Excellent pizza. We chose to sit outside because it was warm and breezy. That was a bit of a mistake as there were very large trucks driving down Duckworth (within inches of us) and occasionally the smell of marijuana wafted down the street (I have nothing against marijuana use but I absolutely hate the smell of it). This obviously is completely out of the control of the restaurant and I don't in any way hold them responsible but thought you should know when making your decision about eating inside or not.

Yelp
We saw Piatto's on yelp and the positive reviews were so, so true! We were able to make a last minute reservation and were seated as soon as we arrived. The staff, and especially our server Lennon, were personable and professional. We ordered the burrata, which was amazing, and also one of their wood oven fired pizzas. The servings were generous and delicious. We highly recommend Piatto's to anyone looking for great Italian dining in St John's NL. Thanks Piatto's!

Helen P.

Yelp
Great spot if you're a pizza lover. One of the best pizzas in the city. Make sure that you make a reservation for evening dining. Service can be a little mixed.

Yelp
We decided to have a meal between lunch and dinnertime. The service was excellent. We started with a salad called Barbabietola Artostita, splitting it for both of us. It was excellent. We also ordered an Antipasta called Arancini. That was different than anything we have had either in the USA or in or several trips to Italy. It was interesting but it lacked seasoning. When we tried to order a pasta dish, we were informed that no pasta dishes may be ordered before 5:00pm. So we ordered a Marinara pizza to which we added zucchini. I have eaten in Naples at several restaurants so I was able to tell that this crust was made in the Naples style; very thin and made in a very hot oven. The Marinara sauce however was not just salty; it was extremely salty almost to the point of not edible. That affected both of our digestion afterwards. For dessert we had a Tiramisu. Instead of being a piece cut out of a large rectangular baking dish for a cake, it came baked in a tiny glass jar. It was OK but it was not really a real tiramisu and the portion was quite small. Since we did not have access to anything off of the dinner menu, we cannot comment on those dishes.

Yelp
Love a good wood fired pizza! Great selections and the service at this location is great!

Yelp
We had a great lunch salad and pizza combo with super service. We definitely recommend it.

Yelp
Great pizza & service! We came by for lunch. They had a $14 lunch special 9 inch pizza with choice of soup or salad. I decided to get the roasted tomato with feta soup, Im glad I did it was yummy. I got the Piero- basil pesto base with goat cheese, chicken, roasted red peppers and arugula. It was perfect! The crust was amazing just the way I like it. And the topping went well together. And I added the spicy oil so good. My husband ordered Siciliana with spicy sausage, prosciutto, roasted pepper, and chopped fresh basil. We switched a slice and the Siciliana was yummy but I preferred the Piero. The portions were perfect. The service was great our server was super friendly and attentive. This location is spacious nicely decorated. Bathroom is upstairs.

Yelp
For authentic thin crust pizza it is a nice spot. We went for the lunch special and had salad and pizza. They kindly adjusted for lactose-free.

Yelp
Fantastic experience for dinner at Piatto! We were quite hungry and just wanted good pizza quickly. Piatto was so much more and we loved it. It was a neat surprise to discover original Napoli pizza in Saint John's. And to top that, there was a gluten-free version that was just as mouth-watering as the one I had in Napoli a month ago. Score! The tomato sauce was oh so saucy and delicious and there were neat vegetarian options. We had the Margherita and the Greca, both gluten-free, and had to restrain ourselves from finishing them.. lucky for me the left-overs are in the fridge!

Yelp
Service is always fantastic! The Stephanie is by far my favourite pizza & a most try. Great atmosphere.

Yelp
poor food: wilted salad, chewy pizza ok service: wrong pizza order ambiance: noisy recommend: never

Yelp
So delicious! Some of the best pizza I've had in a while & great wine too. I personally ordered the vegan one and was so happy! The chili oil is the perfect topping too.

Yelp
Great service and great food. We arrived at 9 pm on a Friday evening without reservations. Our waiter was excellent, and he was able to recommend a number of entree options...all of which were fantastic!

Wayne S.

Yelp
Always delicious food . service always excellent. Ambiance perfect. Best Sicilian pizza ever and amazing Caesar salad.

Yelp
One of the best restaurants of our visit to St. John's! Atmosphere was inviting, food was astoundingly delicious. You have to try the prosciutto and honey pizza with the garlic base. All the flavours go really well with each other. Besides the food, the service was probably the best service I've had yet, and the food took no less than 15-20 minutes to arrive. This has to be one of the first places you try in St. John's!

Yelp
Good pizza, all food seemed good. Good friendly service. BUT...they force a %25 tip on you! I like tipping but...
google avatar

Steve B.

Yelp
Order via skip. 2 items of 4 only came. Call skip they couldn't careless, totally useless. We were stuck in isolation in the hotel cause of the covid. We finally call the restaurant directly. They were very nice, send the remaining of the order right away plus desserts as gratuity for the trouble. Food was very good and they experience went from very bad to very good because of they care about the customers..... Piatto 5/5. Skip.......... let skip them for a while.....

Yelp
Had an awesome Fri-date at Piatto! Love real Italian style pizza and this place really does it right! Really cute spot to hang out with friends or as a date spot. I loved the quirky design inside. Just a warning, bathrooms are upstairs, not sure if they have WC access on the main floor Started a bottle of Italian Pinot Noir which was tasty and fairly priced. Meatballs were good standard meatballs. Juicy and delicious, only thing I have to say is that it only came with 3 medium sized meatballs, and for $9 that's really pushing it for price point! "Barbabietola Arrostita" (goat cheese, beets, walnut) salad. The salad on the other hand was soooo delicious! I love anything beet and goat cheese and walnut, but the dressing is what makes it! It was a balsamic dressing that was thick with awesome sweetness. Now reviewing the menu again it's actually balsamic MAPLE dressing. So delicious I need to have it again! As for pizza we had the Cielo (caramelized onions, roasted red peppers, pepperoni, sopressata). The pizza itself was amazing. Deliciously chewy crust, not at all soggy centre, good topping distribution (huge for me). The flavor we chose was good. I really liked that it had the sweet elements, not something I'd usually get, but my date called it "too sweet", but did eat it with gusto and still ordered dessert ;) For dessert we shared the tiramisu. It was good, no over powering liquor taste which was good, but maybe lacked a bit of coffee taste for this coffee lover. Overall a great experience! Will definitely come back again!

Yelp
Visiting St John's and had seen this place on You Gotta Eat Here, pizza was incredible, service is good, I would definitely recommend, with one little caveat, if you're going to serve wine (which they do) how about you do so in a wine glass (which they don't), nothing worse than a nice glass of wine in a glass meant for a child's water.

Yelp
This restaurant's pizza exceeded my expectations. The service was spectacular, the pizza was amazing and my mom and I shared the gluten free crust, which was definitely the best one I've ever tasted. Moist, thin and soft with a crispy crust. Our server also recommended a lovely wine to compliment the pizza. The spicy olive oil also kicked it up a notch. My cappuccino with steamed cream was sensational as I enjoyed the rich dark chocolate custard dessert. Also gluten free! On a slightly critical note, the white wine we ordered was warm and when we commented on it she brought us ice. (This was a first for me.) Also I would recommend a better music sound set-up since the speaker was a bit annoying in our ears. The Caprese salad could use some work as the tomatoes were a bit spongey and the cheese was more chewy than the bocconcini I usually eat. However, the pizza was so phenomenal I will definitely go back here the next time I'm in town.

Yelp
I've been to Da Michele in Naples, whose pizza is to pizza-making as the kilogram block in Paris is (or at least used to be) to the kg. Piatto isn't Da Michele (no other restaurant is), but on a scale on which Da Michele is a 100 then Piatto is easily an 85-90. It's the best pizza I have ever had in Canada and one of the top ten I've ever had full stop -- and do keep in mind that I live in the New York area! It's the real Neapolitan deal, made simply, elegantly, and deliciously. A few variants are available (which I did not try), as is pasta (which I did). The meatballs and spaghetti are both clearly house-made, as is the tiramisu I had for dessert. A wide cocktail selection is also available, including aperitifs and after-dinner drinks. I was so pleased with my experience that I ate here for dinner twice -- on a two-day visit. And I'll be back the next time I'm in town.

Yelp
A lovely meal. Traditional fire blackened crusts. Decent gluten-free option. Thoughtful topping combinations. Great by the glass wine list for a pizza place. Friendly and attentive service. Reasonable noise level.
google avatar

Yelp
Very good pizza made in a wood fired oven. The atmosphere was busy and alive, and both booths and tables were available. We shared a few pizzas and all were different, hot and tasty. Food arrived in a timely manner and waiter was the right amount of friendly and talkative. Free wifi was appreciated since we are on the road. Dessert was good too, though they were out of plain ice cream for an Affogado.

Yelp
This is a really great pizza place! I had the margherita pizza and it was delicious. In particular the pizza sauce tastes really authentic and I liked how the basil was a bit crunchy, which added nice texture to the pizza. I also had a glass of the limoncello which I'm pretty sure wasn't home made but it was still good. The service was really great, our waitress was so attentive, friendly and conversational. I did go in a group and everyone seemed to really enjoy everything they ordered including the espresso and caesar salad. I really hope we can go back before our trip is over!

Yelp
In anticipation of the Halifax location opening, Mike B. and I tried Piatto during a recent trip to Newfoundland. I can definitely say we're looking forward to having one close to home. Being a Newfoundland newbie, I can't speak to the location except to say that the restaurant itself was really lovely and tastefully decorated. The staff were really friendly and attentive, and the food was brought to our table pretty quickly. The food itself was the obvious highlight. We ordered a garlicky focaccia appetizer that we demolished in a few short minutes. I ordered an Americana pizza, which is pretty much just a basic pepperoni pizza. It was delicious - the pepperoni was fantastic, the cheese was gooey and wonderful, and the crust was crisp but soft inside. Highly recommended!

Yelp
My wife and I were referred to Piatto by our hotel desk staff. We're were very tired and hungry after a full day's travel. This was the perfect place to rejuvenate. Kim the hostess was very helpful getting us in and served quickly. The waitstaff was super friendly and gave us a lot of local information that will be helpful for our time in St. John's. The food was fantastic. My wife had the Caprisi Salad and I had the Caesar (beware, it comes with bacon bits). The salads were fresh and flavorful. We then split a magherita pizza. It was the perfect combination of sweet tomato base, basil and fresh mozzarella. Try the house red wine to accompany this pizza. This place gets busy so arrive before 6:30 or after 9:00 unless you're willing to wait twenty minutes.

N K.

Yelp
Amazing food, every single time. I'm always torn between the Caesar, beet, and caprese salads - they're all great! In terms of pizza, the Stephanie is the only one I'll ever have! It's far too delicious to ever change my order. Lemon tarts and/or Dulce de leche for desserts are a must! Their takeout service is fantastic, quick, and really convenient. I see no reason to order pizza anywhere else!
google avatar

Daria G.

Yelp
Pizza is excellent. The only authentic Italian pizza in town. Service is generally nice. Too bad they don't take reservation not even for groups... So on weekends expect long waiting time! Negative note: owner (or manager, not sure) could have been a little nicer...
google avatar

Candace K.

Yelp
hands down, best pizza in NL. whenever we make the drive in from Corner Brook (8 hours away) this is the first restaurant we head to. The Stephanie pizza with balsamic vinegar, carmelized pears, and goat cheese is my personal favorite, but I've tried most of what's on the menu and have loved them all. always great service as well!

Emerson L.

Yelp
BEST Pizza EVER!!!! i got the Dolce in the white pizza section, it's different from i've ever had! You should try it. Our waiter was so sweet and personable and worked our food and table around what worked for us! Great Place! Totally recommend
google avatar

Mark H.

Yelp
Pizza here was nice. Not as deluxe as their menu promises, but in the grand scheme of pizzas it's definitely Boston Pizza at the bottom, Pizza Hut next, then crown to Piatto and that's good enough for me. Also Napoli pizza destroys your life forever once you eat it in the actual birth city, but this is St. John's and the city is improved by the presence of Piatto indeed.
google avatar

都

Yelp
Best pizza EVER! Order 4 flavors and love all of them, especially the meatlover one!
google avatar

Erin S.

Yelp
The Stephanie pizza was the absolute yummiest pizza I've ever eaten! The "regular" types of pizza were very good, but this one kinda ruined the rest for me :). Everything that was eaten was fantastic however make it known to your server that you wish to start your entree's after your appetizer is finished (if you're in a group) We ordered an appetizer, got it within a decent amount of time, finished it and then waited 20min for our entrees. When we asked, we were told that the other patrons had "skipped" ahead of us in the oven since we had the appetizer. So we had to wait until they were done before ours went in. It felt that when we asked we were being annoying (which as a customer service professional, we really were not) :) :) (food fantastic, service sucked)

Yelp
Been anxious to try Piatto since I saw it on you gotta eat here...I have to agree with Catucci. Delicious pizza with great crust. I had the spicy one and my daughter has the Hawaiian. Will definitely be back to try a few more or the different pizzas on the menu. Great service as well.
google avatar

Bryan K.

Yelp
This place is amazing. I would highly recommend it if you are a fan of great service, wine and food! Piatto is a member of the NPA, which is a guild for the authentic Napoleon (real Italian) pizza. The wine selection is unbelievable for a fair price. This place is a must for any visitor!
google avatar

Mathew G.

Yelp
This was place was recommended to us from the airbnb we were staying at. Right from the start as we entered Piatto's we knew it was going to be great! The tables were full so we opted out to eat at the pizza bar. We had a great view of the pizza's that were flying threw the kitchen. The server was very friendly and in a great mood. My girlfriend and I ordered two iceberg beer (which was so cold and delicious) split the soup of the day chickpea and spinach and we had a margarita pizza each. I do not think we spoke much after the food came as it was so so amazing; the acidity of the tomato sauce and fresh cheese and basil (my mouth is watering as i write about it). I look forward to the next time we are able to check out another Piatto again, hopefully one comes to Toronto so we can share the experience with Friends!!

Yelp
This seriously was one of the best pizzas I've had. Spice though and though from the chili flakes but then the honey. Oh my, what a wonderful combination. Open late and a nice ambiance. Great wine selection to boot. Would certainly be a favorite if I lived here Dolce e Fumoso Roasted garlic cream base, chili flakes, crispy prosciutto, smoked Caciocavallo, Grana Padano, finished with a drizzle of local honey + chopped parsley

Maida C.

Yelp
Probably this is what my heaven will look like when I die. I don't mean to sound exaggerated but the pizza I'm sure it's the best one I've tried so far. The place is very charming, with a great atmosphere without feeling overcrowded. Friendly staff, very willing to help out and great recommendations. I started with a chickpea spinach soup and then proceeded to pizza. Accompanied by an iceberg beer. Fantastic place that hit the spot for me.

Yelp
A birthday dinner with family for 11-year old - Piatto was her choice. Very good choice. Excellent service and server fully engaged with the spirit of our day. Very interesting varieties and unique menu. Everyone loved their choices and deserts. Restaurant had a unique feel to it with the decor and pictures. Certainly well worth it and highly recommend for an "authentic" pizza in St. John's Thank you
google avatar

Rochelle C.

Yelp
Great pizza, atmosphere and pretty decent wine list! Pizza is a thin crust style but the beauty part is the large wood fired oven in the back that churns out authentic Italian pizzas in quicktime. Tried a siciliano pizza and a funghi pizza - beautiful flavours and fresh. Service is incredibly quick.. almost too quick. You can be in and out in a half hour, with a salad and pizza. Only downside was the caprese salad... could have done with vine ripened tomatoes. The ones tonight were flavourless and made the salad less enjoyable. Hopefully will change with Spring.

Yelp
Rare is it that you visit a restaurant and the high Yelp rating is totally deserved. This is one such place. The pizza is as authentic as authentic gets - they even have certification from Naples. Lots of choices from red sauce to white to pesto sauce pizzas. It's pizzas only in addition to some appetizers. But that means that they can focus on what they do. They also had interesting drink offers. My wife had the 3 mini wine sampler while I had a Negronj. Ambiance is lovely and the service is typically warm like anywhere in Atlantic Canada.

Anonimo A.

Yelp
I tried their pizza Margherita, and it was delicious, authentic Neapolitan style pizza. Will definitely go back.

Yelp
Excellent food, service and quality. Consistent over the few years they've been around. Overall, a great spot for just about any occasion.

Yelp
Piatto is amazing! I love the atmosphere and decor. Our server was super friendly and very good with gluten free. Piatto just recently introduced gluten free crust and it is definitely one of the best I've ever tried. The pizzas were full of flavour and cooked to perfection. We had the Amanti Della Carne Speziata and Dolce e Fumoso. I highly recommend any pizza lovers to try this place out!
google avatar

Mark B.

Yelp
I was there again last night, and brought another newbie with me. Everyone I bring loves it, because the pizza and service is excellent! I cant say enough about this place, everybody really needs to go there. They now have soup at lunch and have added desserts to the menu. My new favorite thing is the addition of the "pizza of week".
google avatar

Fabienne D.

Yelp
loved it!! the chicken pizza was amazing and the service was great. it s very cozy in place and would recommend it.

Patrick J.

Yelp
I've been in a lot of pizzerias in many cities. I haven't had a better Margherita anywhere. They have a birch-fired ceramic pizza oven that cranks them out; unless it's really busy service is fast. No reservations but they do have a smartphone-based notification system; if there are no tables available you can be wait listed, go have a drink at one of the myriad bars in the area, and receive a text when there's a table available. I do takeout a lot, but if you have the time to eat in, the pizza is much better on a plate straight from the oven than from a cardboard box. Fast and friendly service.
google avatar

Robert B.

Yelp
Piatto is cozy little spot with a great little dining room where you can actually watch the cooks prepare and cook your pizza in a wood stove, old school style. Definitely adds to the appeal of a place when you can see it's actually gourmet and not just stamped on the take out box. Not your average pizza place, especially in a city like St. john's where 95% of pizza is ordered from a local take out spot, doughy and covered in grease. Piatto is a thin crusted, oven baked and offer both "red" and "white" pizzas, and some very unique toppings. (ex; "The Stephanie" was topped with caramelized pears.) Appetizer salad portions were massive, a meal sized one at any other restaurant, so be warned of that if you're not going in extremely hungry. The only downside I can really note on was the fact the menu didn't seem to have any price written on it, now I could be mistaken but after reading it a couple of times I couldn't find it. And I was treated to my dinner the night I've gone there so I wouldn't even be able to tell you if it was a more expensive place to eat. The menu is also very, Italian. It might be a little difficult to read, I know I had trouble and people sitting at the table with us were even pointing to the menu at what they wanted to order because they couldn't pronounce the names. So if something a little more cultured is what you're hungry for, Piatto definitely has it all for you.

Yelp
Great pizza place, it has a lot of character, well decorated and good service. Their Itilian style pizzas are very good and their crushed red peppers are actually hot unlike other places!

Yelp
My wife and I have been looking for a good pizza place since we moved to St. John's in Sept '10. While I prefer New York style pizza over Neopolitan style pizza, this place is definitely a winner in my books (although the search continues for good New York pizza). We ordered Prosciutto Pacchi (mozzarella wrapped in prociutto and done in tomato sauce) to start, which was amazing. I believe there were two of them, which was perfect for my wife and I. We also ordered Napolitana Foccacia, which I think we would skip next time, since it seemed to be the same dough recipe as the pizza. We ordered the Siciliani (mozzarella, spicy Italian sausage, prosciutto, roasted red peppers and parmigiano) minus the red peppers to split between us. It was quite good, and it was more than enough for the two of us (the two appetizers might have had something to do with that) but I think we'll probably try something different next time. Finally we had a lemon tart for dessert, which my wife loved, but I wasn't a huge fan of (mainly because I'm not a huge lemon dessert guy). The service was great, although they did try to give us the wrong pizza at first (it belonged to the people next to us). The atmosphere is really nice too, just a intimate litte place where you can sit and watch them make your pizza, and just hang out. They seem to have an extensive wine list for such a small place, but neither my wife nor I drink, so I can't comment on that too much.
