If you are looking for an authentic Roman dining experience without the "tourist trap" quality that usually plagues the area around the Trevi Fountain, look no further than Piccolo Arancio.
I stumbled upon this gem on Vicolo Scavolino, a quiet little side street just moments away from the chaotic crowds of the fountain, and I felt like I had discovered a secret. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was enchanting—cozy, warm, and buzzing with the happy chatter of both locals and travelers. The decor has a charming, slightly retro vibe with touches of orange (fitting the name!) that makes you feel instantly at home.
The Service
The hospitality here is top-tier. Despite the restaurant being full, the staff treated me like an old friend. My waiter was attentive, funny, and gave excellent recommendations without being pushy. There is a genuine warmth here that you just don't find everywhere. Do not skip the Tiramisu. It was creamy, light, and the perfect balance of coffee and sweetness to end the meal.
The Verdict
To find food of this quality at such reasonable prices in the heart of Rome is rare. Piccolo Arancio offers an honest, delicious, and memorable dining experience. I rolled out of there happy, full, and already planning my next visit.
Highly, highly recommended!
