Pichlmaiers zum Herkner

"Well worth a trip to the outskirts of the city. The inn formerly run by famous Viennese chef Heinz Herkner has been given a successful makeover that combines modernity and tradition – this applies to the warm and charming setting as well as the food. The Austrian and classic French dishes are peppered with modern touches. The pretty terrace extends over two floors." - Michelin Inspector

When the waiter makes the difference. I am not exaggerating. After living 6 years in Vienna, we have met the best service in the capital at this restaurant. Food is great, prices very fair, atmosphere is cool and cozy, drinks are amazing. First time in Vienna that we have given a 20% tip because our waiter was exceptional. Maybe a sommelier by trade he guided us with a wine course to match our dishes, from starter to dessert. Spot on. Knowledgeable , friendly, even funny. It’s a very local place worth visiting.

Fantastic Sunday lunch at Pichlmaiers at the edge of Vienna. Super nice ambiance and excellent food with good wine recommendations. Would return in a heartbeat and they even served a whole Oberlaa cake for my girlfriend's bday which was super generous. Well done Pichlmaiers Team.

While this restaurant is quite a bit away from the city centre, it’s definitely worth a visit! The food and service was exceptional. And the wine was to die for!! If you’re looking for a high quality local dinner, this is the place to be.

It you want to experience high end local Austrian food this is the place to be! Totally worth the little detour from the city Center! Everything was impeccable. I highly recommend the Lamb for the main.

Fantastic restaurant. Excellent fine dining experience. The staff was great and really friendly as well as knowledgeable about different beverages. All in all every course was great and we really had a splendid time. Another plus point is the location. It is well connected by tram and the Restaurant itself is nicely decorated and the outdoor seating area was amazing. Truly a phenomenal experience. Give it a try!

We stayed at the city center when we visited. Took 45 minutes to get there but I tell you: dare to venture out. The restaurant is beautiful and the service impeccable. We very much enjoyed our meal. They had some seasonal dishes with asparagus. We opted for the Tafelspitz and Schnitzel. Simply divine. Highly recommend.

On my first visit here I would have given all 4 stars, but our dinner here a few days ago was a service disappointment. Strangely we had the same waiter as last time...I hope it was just a bad night for him. We were asked 3 times in literally 3 minutes if we were ready to order...each time I politely said we needed a few minutes as I needed to translate a few things for my guests. There was no rush to turn the table, it was just rude. All the other tables were topped up with wine as glasses emptied...not us! When I asked a question about an ingredient I did not know the name of in Austrian dialect, it was as if he could not believe the question. The table of presumably regulars was taking up 90% of his time...order dessert...please wait! Check please...when I get to it! More water please...if you must! We really wanted another glass of wine and a schnapps...but decided to cut our losses and pay. That said the food is still VERY good. The space is comfortable and the wines are great. There is too much competition in Vienna for this kind of service though.

The restaurant is on the outskirts of the city centre but it's well worth the trip. Getting there is quite easy because even in the late hours the tram 43 goes every 10 minutes. The service is really nice. The waiter explained all the food really well and recommended us a very good red wine. We had a wiener schnitzel and a Tafelspitz and both were amazing. Asparagus with quinoa as a starter was very tasty too. The number of items on the menu is quite small which only speaks for the restaurant. We really enjoyed our visit and would come back any time again!

Yelp
I had the privilege to have a great lunch here today. Located in the "suburbs" of Vienna this restaurant is a really great interpretation of a Viennese Gasthaus. With modern furnishing and new interpretations of Viennese classics like a Zwiebelrostbraten or Schnitzel. Because of the great weather today I had the pleasure of sitting outside in the inner court which was really nice. The food was delicious and as mentioned newly interpreted. I tried the ramsom ravioli which were really delicious and handmade. The main dish was cheeks of the durok pig which was slowly cooked and really tender and soft from its texture. That was the best cheeks I have ever tried so far. The waiters were very friendly and helpful and also were quite comfortable with handling some uncommon requests. The prices are higher than average but for the quality provided quite fair. All in all it was a really new experience and I will go there again for sure. A clear recommendation!
