Google
What a great time, Saw Atmosphere and Sage Francis there. Standing room but it was a vibe. Cool joint.

Google
Mihali show is always great, venue is good but layout is different, pizza in house is decent, it's a fun night

Tiziana Moser

Google
Doesn't look like much from the outside but pretty cool barn style "nightclub." Free parking available outside. They do have a cover ( I would prefer it was free for locals). Has a stage where bands perform, big bar. Music was pretty good, drinks are priced a bit on the steeper side but we got a decent pour! Overall, had fun and will be back!

Google
Terrible venue for larger acts. The 7 security guards in sight couldn’t even step in to stop a fight. No IDs being checked. People being overserved and belligerent. Might be fine for your t swifty singalongs. But not a nationwide tour like an Atmosphere show.

The driver for the barrel rider was awful on the way back to our hotel from the club on Sunday night 12/29 around 12:20am (so technically 12/30). He was yelling at riders “Tip your driver! They don’t pay me!” and made one person so uncomfortable at drop off after a 3 minute ride that he just gave the driver $20 because he was so embarrassed how he was being yelled at. So unprofessional. I tipped him $5 for a 5 minute ride and he gave me grief for asking to break a $20, and proceeded to tell me this is all he makes- the company doesn’t pay him, and never thanked me. I will not be returning. Very poor experience. I do appreciate that the bar had complimentary water bottles during the Mahali concert and I like the idea of the barrel rider, just poorly executed. Thank you.

Google
The place is great! 5-Star. But when I realized I may not be able to get a ride home because my Uber ride fell through, the head of security Geo immediately offered to help - got me home safe and sound with a great convo on the way from Killington to Rutland.

Google
Noticed someone said the bar was dead tonight...id say this is worth a $15 cover! Bar is jammed packed and the place is bumpin' right now!! It seems like hundreds of people happily paid the cover! The staff is amazing and super friendly as well. Highly recommend this bar...see for yourself!

Good drinks, great music!

Yelp
Great spot 10/10 recommend don't listen to bs reviews. Gets packed with fun crowd and good bands best place in killington hands down

Yelp
Pickle Barrel Nightclub in Killington, VT, was a pleasant surprise during our recent visit. For a $15 cover, we were greeted by a line out the door, which speaks to its popularity. The energy inside was fun and packed, with a live band setting the tone for a lively night. The music was exactly what you'd expect from a club and less of a bar, high-energy hits that kept the crowd bumping around. Even on a snowy Saturday night, the place was bustling, making it clear that Pickle Barrel is a top destination for anyone looking for a fun night out (That and Wobbly Bar which we weren't able to check out). However, one thing to note is the male-to-female ratio, which was about 5:1 in favor of men. This makes it an excellent spot for a night out with the ladies, but not so much for the guys. Despite this, the vibe and atmosphere more than made up for it, with the dance floor packed and people enjoying the night. If you're in the Killington area looking for a fun, busy spot with good music and a great crowd, Pickle Barrel is definitely worth checking out!

Yelp
It's an old building and that's very cool but it's spread out weird so being able to dance or see the music is iffy and if you go upstairs to dance, the sound is not so good. Free bottles of cold water and announcing license plates rather than have cars towed was very nice. They allowed re entry for the people who had to move their cars. The pizza was tasty! Overall I'd stop in here for a beer and a slice but not for music

King B.

Yelp
What a cool venue for concerts. $2 sodas and free bottles of water to keep the crowd hydrated. Super nice bartenders and chill security made for a great night to see Dizgo at Killington. Had so much fun and re entry is allowed for smoking.

Yelp
HORRIBLE SERVICE. Maybe homophobic?! I HATE TO LEAVE THIS REVIEW, I am not one to ever leave a review but please read the whole review, it was a crazy night... 1. Horrible bus service - I shouldn't complain- it's free right? On the way there they drove by us the first time for when we scheduled. They picked us up 15 minutes later. We tipped them $20. On the way home we tipped the rest of the cash that we had, which was $5. The bus driver started driving away, stopped the vehicle and got out yelling at us that we didn't tip enough. (I am sorry that your company does not pay you enough, but please do not advertise a free shuttle if it is not "free") 2. Horrible, HOMOPHOBIC bouncers - they kick people out for no reason. My friend was demanded to leave the bar by a large, bearded bouncer because he "was seen running his hand through another man's hair". The guy was not drunk. When asked, the bouncer lied and said he saw my friend stumble toward the bathroom. The man did not stumble toward the bathroom. The bouncer's boss, "Jack" didn't help, and just said "we close soon anyway, why don't you just leave now". It's unfortunate because the bar itself, the bartenders, coat check, live music, other patrons, etc, were all great. 5/5 a great night until the end. I just hope the owner sees this and fixes the staffing issues...

Yelp
Been going to killington to ski Super Bowl weekend for years with my friends as it is an annual trip we do. We've gone to the pickle barrel probably three to four times over the last few years. EVERY time we are there they are constantly trying to sneak drinks onto your table when you pay at the end of the night. I know this is true because they are very quick to try to take the drinks off if you put up some resistance. Once I bought a two drinks and paid cash, only had a 50$ bill on me. The bartender gave me 15$ back in change. I almost didn't realize it but then I asked "wait how much was this" and the guy quickly seemed to know exactly how much more money to get out of the register. There are some shady tactics they use to try to steal from tourists so be aware!!! Other than that this is a fun place and worth the cover, just not the scams.

Yelp
People in NY and NJ need to learn how to party like this place .... Security is simply TOP .. I've never seen so many security in one place .. the music is awesome , their sound system is from out of this planet .. had an amazing time Saturday night with a live band .. GREAT VIBE .. GREAT PLACE ... !! Can't wait to go back ..

Yelp
Joe Samba was awesome the venue and bar were great and the head of secusecurity Geo helped me out with a ride home to rutland when I realized my Uber fell through. awesome place, thanks Geo

Yelp
RUN AWAY AS FAR AS YOU CAN FROM PICKLE BARREL. UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SHIT ON. Literally. We sat at a table on Saturday night under a leaky pipe until we realized the pipe that was leaking was what was being flushed out of the toilets. We only realized it wasn't just water because it really started to smell after a while. That's right, we were getting leaked on with everyone's urine and feces. Into our drinks, on our clothes, in our hair. We filed a complaint immediately with the manager. He took me away from other patrons to explain that it was in fact water being flushed from the toilets, and that he's been asking the owner to fix it for weeks. He gave me my money back and told me to "go home and take a hot shower." HOW ARE YOU STILL OPEN IF THERE IS LITERAL SHIT FALLING FROM THE CEILING? People were eating, drinking all around it. I told the manager he needed to block the area off immediately. But, we went back a few hours later just to check what the manager did, and people are STILL standing around, drinking, eating right under this shit storm falling from the ceiling. At this point, there are literally PUDDLES of poop everywhere. And everyone is hanging out having a grand ole time. I have a strange feeling there's a reason why this bar only gives out "bottled water" when you ask for H20. Also, for those who don't mind a little feces, you'll pay a $20 cover. I'm sorry, but you're not that cool. I live in Boston and have never paid that much to get into a bar. I hope you're using this ridiculous cover fee to fix your shitty pipes (PUN VERY MUCH INTENDED).

Andrea K.

Yelp
DO NOT believe reviews. Out of stater here - New York. This place is AWESOME . Yes there was a $10 cover charge but the band was as worth it! Music, staff, atmosphere & drinks on point. Undoubtedly the coolest late night spot for fun in the area.

M S.

Yelp
Really disappointed with how the "bouncers" treated my group. Very clearly treated and spoke down to the women that were with us, because they were with us. Everyone in my group works at the mountain or in the area and this experience will certainly spread. It's pretty clear by reading the reviews you have an unaddressed issue with who you employee for your security. I highly recommend terminating their employment before they blatantly assault another patron like they did the night we were there or do it to the wrong person. It very clear they have some kind of anger or self-esteem issue and can't handle being professional in their positions. They have no right to lay hands on a patron for not liking who the women in our party were with. Last time I will ever go there and will not be recommended to any of the dozen of our rental units.

Ron R.

Yelp
Went here after dinner Saturday night and was looking to just have a drink w my friend. It was 8pm and they have this strange thing where they kick everyone out at 830 to prep the place up again for the rest of the night. The place was packed and it really ruins the mood having to stop partyin while youre really getting into it. Anyways, if we were younger we probably would have been upset by it but we were only stayin for a drink. I ordered 2 budlights and a shot of jameson and was looking for my credit card. Took a lil longer than usual when the bartender (older bald short stocky dude) starts yelling $22 dollars over and over again. Give my credit card. Put a $2 tip cuz of his assholeness and jus shrugged it off. Looked this morning and found a $29 charge instead. Check your bills if you were served by this guy. You might have been overcharged. This guy was super aggressive and there was no crazy wait to get drinks so I didnt understand why he was barking at us. I never write reviews, good or bad, but finding this blatant fraud on my credit card this morning really prompted me to say something, not only for myself but for everyone else that was there.

Caleb M.

Yelp
Absolutley terrible, had my negative test and they still wouldn't let me in. Would never recommend this place to anyone. Manager was standing at the doorway like the governor, 50+ bouncers making you feel very overwhelmed. Absolutely terrible.

April K.

Yelp
Pros: Music was great. Live band was incredible! Pizza served late at night. Spacious with two floors. There was a free shuttle bus (we just ubered bc the shuttle never showed up after 30 min). Cons: $20 cover (though worth it for the live band). Ridiculously aggressive employees running over and screaming at patrons who had their beer over the railing. A somewhat grimey crowd.

Bre S.

Yelp
Oh boy - what a spot. Was here over the weekend for a ski trip, and this was the first spot on people's lips when we asked around about bars to hit. On Saturday night it had a $20 cover, with 2 live bands playing. The main band ("The Zoo") did covers of everything from Sum 41 (shout out to late 90s/early 00s rock fans) to Bob Marley to Katy Perry to Michael Jackson... some of it was better than others, but they are entertaining as all else. Upstairs is more of a low-key, country-ish band that did country/pop/occasional forage into other genres (shout out to the country version of Usher's "yeah" that they nailed last Sat). Both were COMPLETELY different vibes. Half the fun is the insanely diverse crowd - from chilled out people happy to socialize and relax to plastered kids possibly on other substances, it's all here. The bouncers were super on top of things when it did get rowdy, and the people watching is top-notch. Bonus: Call the "Pickle Roller" for free rides to and from the Pickle Barrel! Definitely a perk in Killington, where uber/lyft isn't exactly easy. In a place where there aren't a ton of options, Pickle Barrel's sure to have something for everyone.

Yelp
When we walked in everything was great; courteous, friendly staff and a great band. Unfortunately, that experience dramatically changed for me when I was asked to leave. I was told I had stumbled and therefore, I must be drunk and needed to leave right now. I tried to explain that someone in my path had their foot out slightly (unintentionally) and I did indeed stumble that once, but asked the bouncer to talk to me and make a judgement based on that. I was respectful when asking for this, but what I got in return were threats. He kept challenging me to fight him outside, I said I'm clearly not a danger to anyone or myself, I'm not slurring, or staggering; I had just been dancing with friends minutes ago, why do you want me to leave? Yet, he just kept on challenging me to fight him outside. I saw that this was going nowhere, and out of futility agreed to leave, but I had about a quarter of my beer left. I raised my beer and as I sipped it he knocked it out of my face and into the air, splashing other guests and the coatroom staff. It was an extremely frustrating and humiliating experience and I will never give the Pickle Barrel another dime of business. I was asking around afterwards, and a local at the mountain told me this type of thing happens all the time with this bouncer. If you look through other reviews on this site and you'll see similar stories; I wish I had. The bouncer who challenged me to a fight fits the description of a guy named Chris George; not sure if its correct, but if the management has a camera by the coat room they can see him slap the beer from my face Saturday about 11:30 (if they care about such matters). Either way I will tell everyone I know to stay far away from the Pickle Barrel, the Wobbly Barn is a great place and none of this BS.

Jason B.

Yelp
Arrived at 7:30pm, paid a cover, spent a ton of money and then was kicked out like all of these other reviews indicate. Waited to get back in and was told we had to pay another $20 cover. Will never go there again.

Aaron J.

Yelp
When we got in the door, we had to show our ids, which is normal, they get frisked down by a wand, then paid a 10 dollar cover. It was a bit over whelming being "greeted" like that. Being 10 degrees out, it was a plus they had a coat check - free but tips strongly encouraged. When we first got in, the band didn't start yet and they had security guards every 5 feet. Seemed like excessive to us, but nice to know they were prepared. Does make you think that the place could get pretty crazy. Like the name suggests-- this place is def. a dude bar. Literally "pickles" everywhere. There was even a line to the men's bathroom, like where and when does that ever happen. There was literally one group of females, that only stayed for the first band set, the rest were groups of guys that were overly into dancing with each other. If I didn't know any better, walking in I would have thought this place was a gay bar. ( which I have no problem or discrimination against) The band was great and in between breaks they play club music as well as a second band upstairs. Overall, my girlfriend and I had a blast!! We stayed there till the bar closed and had a 120 dollar tab. The bartenders remembered what we were drinking the entire night and it was very quick getting service/ refills. Didn't want to spend that much but was worth it for a good night dancing.

Robert E.

Yelp
Came here for NYE and it was the absolute worst experience possible. The animals that work here are the most unprofessional and arrogant individuals you could ever interact with. They charged $90 for admission just to get inside and they have coat check that fits about 27 coats. They literally thought this was would be sufficient for a NYE party that costs $90 DOLLARS FOR ENTRY. We arrived at 10pm and the coat check was completely full. They advised we find a spot to leave on coats so we did so on a bench. Right around midnight we found a group hovering around and a girl puking on them. We found security and notified them only to be told "don't worry we cut the girl off". Great, that settles that apparently. Once downstairs, the manager told us we should have "kept our jackets on and it wouldn't have happened". There wasn't even an apology. To reiterate, they charge 90 DOLLARS FOR ENTRY. Avoid the Pickle Barrel at all costs. Go to Wobbly Barn where they have actual humans working.

Payton E.

Yelp
Made us stand outside for 45 min in negative degree weather without the line moving. The line was almost down the parking lot. Eventually gave up and walked across the street to The Garlic. Went to this place last year and it was fun but 1) charged an overpriced cover ($20) and 2) refused to take our coats for coat check. I'd recommend avoiding this place and bringing your business to wobbly barn (even though we didn't get to try it)

Andrew M.

Yelp
A fun place to go out if you are going skiing for the weekend. It's very much a dance atmosphere. Live music is amazing!! There is a balcony that kind of overlooks the dance floor/stage. However, let's talk about the negatives of this place... Because it's one of the only happening places in the area, then can get away with some questionable management choices. For instance, for a $20 cover, you'd think coat check would be free, but NOPE. My friend doesn't drink, and asked for a cup of sprite and they told him it would be $5 for soda... ok well, I think a drink itself is $8 soooo? Water bottles are free so that's a plus. There is a shuttle that will pick you up right in from of the place and take you to various pick-up/ drop-off spots which is a huge convenience because Uber is not really a thing in this area I'll probably come back next time lol

Sarah K.

Yelp
I've been telling my friends back home how they need to come up to Killington and go here. What a horrible impression they got this past weekend. We had a group of 9, celebrating a 30th birthday. We arrived around 8:00pm and paid $5 each for a cover charge. About a half hour later, they kicked everyone out to "flip" the bar. They kicked all of us out of the bar, which we just paid to get into... and said we could go outside (in the pouring rain) and come back in 45 minutes and pay a $20 cover charge?! Shady. Why wouldn't you 1) tell us that the bar would be "closing" shortly when we arrived 2) take our money when you'd just be kicking us out a half hour later and charge us more than twice the price? We've paid expensive cover charges in Boston - that's not the issue. It's that they took our money when they very well knew they'd be kicking us out in a half hour to just charge us again. Left a very bad taste in our mouth. Very disappointed.

J R.

Yelp
2 RBV's, 2 Captain & Cokes, 1 Vodka Tonic, 1 Long Trail, and a $10 tip, all for $49.50! Wait, what?! Despite the very rustic feel, the wood chips on the floor, the $20 cover, the cowboy hats, the acid washed jeans, and the most homogeneous-eclectic mix of people possible in a town with a population of 1100 people, the Pickle Barrel is awesome. Maybe it's great because you've been skiing for 8 hours. Or, maybe it's the 80's cover band playing their hearts out, whatever the reason this place is a blast.

Shirley D.

Yelp
I can't believe this place has just 2.5 stars!! I just came to Killington for the first time to try out the Vermont snow (snowboarding!) this past weekend! We were told about the Pickle Barrel & The Wobbly Barn - the first day we decided to check out JAX and then Pickle Barrel. Needless to say it was a great nice. Pregamed a bit and ate some snacks at JAX, listened to some live music then around 11:30 walked on over to the Pickle Barrel. There was a $15 cover charge but to be honest - completely worth it. I had a blast listening to the awesome band playing some covers. I loved that there were a lot of people dancing/drinking. It was so chill and just so much fun! I wish I wasn't at work right now and just snowboarding and then going out dancing here.

Julie A.

Yelp
Go somewhere else. We looked at the website and saw that "doors open at 8pm" for a cover band. We called their free shuttle, the barrel rider, and after a harrowing ride in the pouring rain, were dropped off at about 8:30. We walked up prepared to pay the ridiculous cover and were told we weren't allowed in because they were "flipping" the bar. The bouncer actually expected us to go back out into the downpour and go somewhere else until they "reopened". After THEIR shuttle had just dropped us off at their door. Basically they kick everyone out (people who had already paid a $5 cover earlier in the evening) so they can "reopen" and charge a $20 cover to re-enter. We asked the bouncer if we could wait in the entry way and he didn't seem happy about it but since it was POURING, we did anyway. Then we watched as all of their customers were kicked out. Soon after a bachelor party of about 15 guys arrived and a manager came out and treated them like kings, told them they didn't have to pay the cover, checked their IDs and stamped their hands. I went down and asked the staff if they knew their website said 8pm and if we'd still have to pay after waiting 45 minutes to get in. The answer was yes and they were all incredibly rude. No one apologized. They acted like we were inconveniencing them by arriving at their bar at 8:30pm on a Saturday night. I've never seen anything like it. Clearly they didn't want our business, so we left. Wobbly Barn didn't charge us a cover, had a great band and a much friendlier staff.

Connor P.

Yelp
Friday night cover fee was $15, Saturday night was $20. The "staff" were pretty annoying with people "leaning" near the rails, but they seemed to forget to yell at any of the attractive girls who did the same thing. It's a 2 start because the bar is pretty fun, large and they don't seem to deal with too big of crowds. Drinks are badly priced. The bartenders made the bar better but the "staff" made the bar worse. Music was OK but nothing more than OK. Unfortunately, there's not too many options of bars in the area, so for what they have, this is a place to keep in mind.

Milton O.

Yelp
I came to this place for first time. I had a great time. The band the music and the vibe were really good. Unfortunately, close to the end of the night one of the bouncers reported me as being intoxicated and asked us to leave the club. Although, we only had few beers we requested to finish the beers and leave but to our surprise they only want us to kick us out ASAP. We feel the bouncers had a poorly attitude and were poorly trained to visitors coming to spend money and bring something different to the culture. Is sad to still see resistance to acceptance of new cultures of these clubs. I hope they have the chance to educate themselves and understand that customers service is a crucial part to the success of this businesses. I could've recommended this place to a highly profile people in Miami. But unfortunately to the bouncers personnel, this is just another little town club with no reason to come back.

Joe T.

Yelp
gets packed with drunk people! And if you happen to look like what they are accustomed to see then they think you are suspicious: a friend of mine was looking at lady who appeared to be available for a dance just to het a female attendant coming ti him to say that by looking at the other lady, he made her uncomfortable! utter non sense! when my asked the lady he was hoping to in invite for a dance if indeed looking at her made her "uncomfortable", she not at all! so to the mgt of this place this female staff attendant was tall white person .... may be she is not used to see diverse people around?

Sara S.

Yelp
I went to a concert at pickle barrel with two other people last weekend. We left from my friends place in Massachusetts and it did not take the 2 and a half hours mapquest had claimed. I guess they had not factored in that the last hour of the drive has a speed limit of 25-40mph so take this into account if you're coming from another state. We had several problems with way the venue ran the concert. They had advertised it all over Facebook and their website as starting at 9pm. They did not start until at least 20 minutes after 9 and the main act did not come on until 10:20pm. Normally this wouldn't be a huge problem but this was a Sunday night and people have work the next day! We had to wait in the car for a few hours considering they did not open the doors til 8. So did lots of other people. I know people were getting angry because I kept seeing them walk up to the door and get turned away. Once we got in I actually did like the venue. It was set up in a way that the stage has a small floor in front of it. The back and sides are elevated. There are tables and chairs if you're not into standing at a show. Something I found odd was while the singers were performing, nobody stood on the floor in front of the stage. People just shyly stood in the back. I guess it's better for me because I went up front and it felt like a private show most of the night. Towards the end of the show people let loose and started dancing. It was pretty odd considering we were seeing a musician who did not play anywhere close to dance music. I felt like I was at a country concert with all the line dancing. I was taking a video at the end and some super creepy drunk man came up to me and kept telling me "put your phone down and dance with me" and proceeded to stare me down for the rest of the show. It was a scary experience and I was grateful to have two other people with me. I would definitely hesitate to return to pickle barrel unless an artist I love is playing there. The drive was terrible especially after the show in the dark. Some of the people who hung out there scared me and were clearly not there to see the show and just look for women. I would even hesitate to go there if I were a local. I can only imagine what goes down when everyone is drunk. If it weren't for my bad experience I would have found this venue enjoyable. I think the people who run the place should be a little more courteous and honest about what time the show is actually starting.

John L.

Yelp
Basically a fine bar, but the cover is $20, and he staff is incredibly rude. After a steam of people came out, the bouncers still wouldn't let us in saying, "no one in one out policy after midnight," which makes no sense. At the end of the day, it gets crowded, it costs too much, and they act like they can treat people terribly with no repercussions.

Noosh M.

Yelp
Had I known that the road to this venue was going to be so narrow and hard to drive, I would not have come. The ticket said door at 8 and show at 9pm. No word on a opener. This being a Sunday I figured the show would be over by 10.30pm, with 2 hours of driving then by 1am I should be sleep. Well I should have known from that long stretch of the narrow drive things would not go that well. They did have an opener, the musician who I had gone to see didn't perform till almost 10.30. Then the performers equipment malfunctioned. To top it all this local creep would not leave my daughter and I alone. We were there to hear good music, instead I was worried for our safety. Of course there was no security insight or aware of this local creep being such a nuisance. This place had many levels, but since the crowed was not large they had closed the upstairs. I've been to this musicians performance many times in a lot of other venues, but the crowed at this location was like a very bad dream.

Devin C.

Yelp
Holy awfulness. Went here for a bachelor party and after paying $20/head just to get in the door realized what a grave mistake we made. The bar set up itself is pretty cool with an upstairs and downstairs and bands on both floors, but that's only good if the bands are good. The night we went was a Fred Durst wannabe. It was so terrible. There is also a reason it's called the Pickle Barrel. If you like "pickles" then you'll definitely find them here.

Charles D.

Yelp
What a wild time. Went here on a Saturday night to celebrate my friend's and my birthdays. My buddy turned 29 so he was issued a new temporary license and JAX bar literally told him he wasn't allowed to drink because it "wasn't a legal document" (which it was), however the Pickle Barrel had no problem with it and let us in. We had a blast. 2 different bands playing at the same time. Good music, fast service for drinks, especially with how many people were there (place was packed). Definitely brought back memories of a crazy frat party mixed with a multi-level nightclub with a tavern vibe. Kinda glad JAX turned us away and we went here instead, because we had such a good time.

Yelp
Pretty girls get free cover. That's the best I can say about it. Wait, what?! A place in Killington, Vermont charges cover (and 20 bucks at that)? Yeah, and that's not the worst. The worst is that my vodka soda costs the same ($8) as it does in downtown Chicago. Yup, you read that right. And Bud Lights will run you $6. I was so flabbergasted at the prices I wasn't quite sure what to make of it. Ok, there's a live band, but meh. Being there on a race weekend, the place was packed, so perhaps they are upcharging for the crowds, but who knows. I much prefer JAX next door. A "dance club" in Killington just makes no sense...

Yelp
Reminds me of Groundhogs Day. Always the same overpriced cover charge, rude doormen who over scrutinize your alcohol consumption and treat you suspiciously. Same type of band every time. This place sucks. The pizza is good. Its sometimes fun during happy hour to go and get pizza. But happy hour has a cover charge too. To be fair, I have had great bar service here. And, yes, I keep going back because this is where people go while in Killington. Kill me now. PS-- people are always farting on the dance floor. i assume it is because there are more men than women in here. COME ON GUYS!

Yelp
I went up to Vermont for the weekend with a few friends and we decided to venture out to Pickle Barrel because 1. they provide a free (tip only) shuttle, 2. they have live bands, and 3. pickles are my favorite food so i love anything with pickle in the name. The shuttle was awesome. We called at around 6 o'clock and they came promptly to our house on the mountain at 9:30. The driver was friendly, and told us that he'd be happy to give us a ride home later but to try to get out a bit before 2 AM to beat the crowds. Once inside, I cringed as I handed over my $20 cover. I know I was warned about this, but I was hopeful that maybe the cover would be less expensive. I'm not really sure why they charge this much -- I've lived in Boston for 4 years and have yet to pay a $20 cover here...so who knows. The bar itself was great. The live band was really amazing and I loved the setup. Downstairs there was a huge dance floor with a bar around the outside. Upstairs there were two more bands and another (quieter) live band. In between sets the DJ played your typical top 40 and I was happy to see lots of people dancing the whole time. The dress was a little bizarre. Some people looked like they were wearing pajamas, others were really dressed up and some had a mixed look, complete with a dressy top and dirty snow boots! My biggest problems with Pickle Barrel were that in addition the expensive cover, the drinks were not cheap. Bud lights were about $6 (plus tip) and although I didn't buy any I heard the mixed drinks and shots were pretty pricey as well. Also, at around 1:30 AM, the bouncers started kicking out random guys throughout the bar. I have no idea why they were doing this (to clear out the bar? to lessen the coat check line? to leave a room full of drunk girls?) but I watched more than a few guys getting dragged out in the last 30 minutes. Strange. Still, it was nice to have the shuttle bring us back home and overall we had a great time at Pickle Barrel.

Yelp
Poor bar, poor service. I went in and immediately ordered 7 shots (surfer on acid) and 1 beer from some middle aged bar tender. Moments later I asked for another 7 shots (Alabama slammers), and was told that she is not making my crappy mixed drink shots. I explained that I was going to order 7 at a time -- she offered shots of fireball or vodka instead. I declined and left. For those who are curious I tipped $1 per drink ordered.

Yelp
This place is not worth ruining your day over. It's dirty and overpriced. Staff is rude and abusive. Go elsewhere is all I can say.

Yelp
Expect it to be exactly what it is. A bar with bar food and plenty of alcohol to drink and on the floor. You will stick to the floors it will be loud with great music and happy people. People come off the slopes to come in and drink and relax to good music. It looks like an old barn renovated, it's very rustic that is part of the charm. Expect drunk locals and drunk out of staters. The bar staff and wait staff were great. Good attitudes and they hustle. Again do not go for the cuisine, it's bar food, go to hang out with friends to have adult beverages and good music.

Yelp
We arrived at the pickle barrel at 830 PM. That was totally our mistake as we did not understand the concept I guess. We had a drink but then realized it was a waste of our time, so we took the shuttle to our hotel and came back at 1015 pm. Whe we came back, they did not charge us cover for the band, and this place was totally rocking! The band really sucked but it didnt matter! We danced and danced, and the music in between sets was actually pretty good! I think its a great place if you get into it... I think there is some kind of rivalry between them and the Wobbly Barn, and I would say do both if you're there more than one night because both are fun, but I think, objectively that Pickle Barn are NICER, and that in and of itself made this night more enjoyable. They were friendly and accomodating and talked to us and made a real effort and I felt it was genuine so that makes for fonder memories in writing this review. And makes for 4 stars. So yay Pickle Barn!

Yelp
Update: Christopher Karr (owner? manager?) took our comments to heart, and suspended the driver who made us feel unsafe. He invested in security cameras for the vans so that everyone can feel at ease using their shuttle service. We are very grateful for the prompt action taken by the Pickle Barrel and we believe these were appropriate and necessary next steps. He was very professional and took the time to investigate our claims rationally and responsibly. Thank you!

Yelp
When I was in Killington, I was with one massive group. The guy in charge of this massive group got us alll VIP passes to this place called the Pickle Barrel. In addition to going to a place called the pickle barrel... we were all dressed like the 80's... yeah we're cool. Anyways, I decided to wear my Chive shirt (fellow chivers out there - holla) and I was having the time of my life. They had a live band there that weren't singing just rock songs, but also top 20 songs too which was actually REALLY cool and really fun! The establishment is 2 stories and they have this balcony type area where you can look over and watch the band. When the band needs a break, they lower the lighting and TV system and play the music videos for the songs. It's definitely a pretty awesome, dancey type of place. I ended up having SO much fun. Without the VIP passes, it would have been way more than just 5 bucks to get in here, so I am very thankful for the VIP passes. All in all - Awesome time, awesome place and great fun :] Enjoy!

Yelp
No complaints about the many memories myself and my friends have had here. I can't even count the number of nights this ski season that my house has come and enjoyed the talented live music and affordable drinks. Thank you for being such a consistent staple in Killington. The "Till I Die" ski house will see you again soon.

Yelp
$10 cover like all the other cheesy places here, and free shuttle home which is good. Pretty spacious bar but drinks were not cheap here as others have said. The best deal going when I was there was $5.75 for an aluminum bud which is not really a spectacular deal for a place in the middle of nowhere. Jagerbomb booth at the front for $8 a pop. They used monster energy which is great and had monster nitrous! The crowd here was pretty much the most diverse I have ever seen. Crazy mid 50's bald dude running all over the place dancing, woman straight from 1980's etc. One area I was standing in all of a sudden became really tall! Like I am standing there and I am like what the fuck I am really short, and then I realize I am surrounded by about 6 guys that are all 6'4 +! Really an odd place. Cover band playing when I got there, then they took a break and the DJ started playing top 40 stuff for a while. I notice some reviews here lamenting about the lack of single women, but I hate to say that all places up here are a sausage party. The only groups of single people that rent out a condo in the mountains are dudes, and the women that come up here are usually with a SO. There was a line of people waiting to get in when I got out of there, and it did not seem very crowded in here. I could not conceive that they would be attempting the NYC style always keep a line so passing people will think it is a hot place since you cant really see the door from the road and most people are not driving there anyway. Nightlife in killington is pretty weak, I guess this would be the best out of the lot.

Yelp
This place sucks... they're scanner system is out of date and won't accept new and VALID Vermont ID's. Waste of time

Yelp
This is a super top 40 clubby vibe in the middle of an otherwise very chill world. They do have some legit performers from time to time, which can make the $20 cover charge worth your while... but if you're not going for the band don't keep your hopes up high. One tip for the non-blacked out.. the upstairs is an infinitely more chill scene than the downstairs.

Yelp
There are plenty of places in Killington where you can get a drink, relax and listen to juke box music and those places will let you in for free. But if you really want to party in Killington then it's going to cost you a little something. The $20 price of admission at the Pickle Barrel gets you: -a live band playing fan favorite dance music - a d.j. in between sets playing top 40's and other dance music -great atmosphere -awesome bartenders -Free coat check After a day on the slopes I wanted to party (i.e. drink and dance) and the Pickle Barrel had the reputation as the best spot in Killington so paying the cover was a no brainer. I danced my ass off for 3 hours and took advantage of everything the Pickle Barrel had to offer. But I noticed some people on the side who never stepped foot on the dance floor and I can see how they would be unhappy with paying the $20 cover. If you are the type who doesn't like to cut it up on the dance floor then there is really no point in paying the $20 cover and should really head over to the other bars in town that don't charge a cover. The d.j. played great music and never attempted any annoying scratching or remixing. The live band played old and new covers and at any time you could get a front row seat because most people were dancing anyways. The place was full but not over-crowded and it was a very diverse crowd age-wise. In summary, most ski towns in the east have nothing going on at night but not Killington. Killington comes alive at night and the Pickle Barrel is the top spot to go if you want to party. I never would have expected to have as much fun as I did in a town of 1100.

Yelp
This place is awesome. We went up here to see our friends band play. There are two floors- the bottom with the band and usually gets really crowded, and the top with a balcony to look at the band as well- not as crowded with a bar and a place to get pizza (whole pie or by the slice). They have a menu if you're hungry- bar food and pizza. The drinks are expensive- $5 for a beer and $6 for a drink... but they make the drinks good. Every Saturday they have Jamie's Junk Show for a Happy Hour band... they have great happy hour wing specials 72 hot wings for $18. Jamie's Junk show is a great 2 piece band - they rock and the place gets crowded for them, but then dies down til the next band comes on. I knew Jamie from when he lived in CT and the band he got going in VT is just as good, if not better. Worth the happy hour trip. At night we went to see our friends band- Darik and the Funbags. It's $20 cover tho, a bit expensive but an awesome time. the place is wild all night long and offers FREE rides to the neighborhood Inns and Hotels!!

Yelp
If you want to have a place to refer back to for a lifetime as that sketchy-barn-bar-in-the-mountains, you are in luck! Honestly, I was afraid to come here for my sister's bachelorette with 21 other women. I was ready to form a circle of protection around my girls - a barrel if you will - from all the *pickled* patrons. I haven't seen this many boot clad men since I taught at an all-boys high school (and had a reunion with two former students from said school at this bar). The house band, the Zoo, was surprisingly good and had impressive range. The pre-paid passes were a godsend and got us in quick with a dedicated space to retreat to. Honestly, I'd give this five stars if it weren't for two things: 1. Two bathroom stalls in the women's room - one of which was clogged. Fun! 2. Not so much a thing as an amorphous cloud being that took on a sense of personhood it loomed so large: The farts. These farts were to my nose what the weird Bird Box monsters were to Sandra Bullock's eyes. While the overwhelming desire to escape by any means necessary did not result in any permanent bodily harm, the moment of impact was not something I'd relive. The fart cloud was so dense it got us wondering what the source was - the VT tap water in the mixed drinks and ice? Do guys really fart more than girls? If so it gives new meaning to the term toxic masculinity. Be warned and hold your breath.
