Craving some tacos? Look no further than Pico. Their menu is creative but selective with good offerings. The meat in the chicken taco & the carne asada tacos were both tender and juicy but they weren’t life changing. The tacos were good though for beach food and the flavor was memorable. No skimping on seasoning here!

Google
This place has a great vibe and awesome tacos! The corn tortillas are the best I've ever tasted: so fresh and tender and flavorful. The roasted salsa is top notch too. I definitely recommend stopping here if you're in Chincoteague.

We were staying in Ocean City for a couple of nights and wanted something of a better atmosphere. Something quieter and more focused on the patron and not the Patrón. Pico Taqueria is a place I will visit again. I visited with my family and it was just after a brief rain storm. We ordered two kids meals (served on a Frisbee for the kids to enjoy in the park), The Maddox bowl, the Pico de Gallo, and the pork belly with kimchi. I must say this place is a step away from the ordinary pizza, subs, pizza, subs. The atmosphere was calm and inviting. There was seating both indoors or outdoors. There is a small bar that looked like it had some good drinks and the prices were very reasonable.

Google
Quite decent and tasty tacos. Not mind blowing, but still really good. The fried cauliflower taco was our favorite followed by the shrimp. The chopped salad was kinda disappointing. And despite the line, it only took about 10 minutes to get our food. Good spot.

Google
Bring a friend and try all eight tacos on the menu (plus the street corn), you won’t regret it. It’s hard to recommend any one of them because each one was better than the next. There’s a bar area in the back with margaritas and other drinks. It’s a must-do if you’re visiting Chincoteague.

Google
Service was friendly and organized. Food was ready for pick up within 5mins of ordering. Empanada special was delicious-fresh, crispy and flavorful. Classic Chincoteague Taco tortillas and ingredients were fresh. However, steak and chicken could use more seasoning/flavor. Hot sauce might have helped.

Google
Best tacos I've had in a very long time! We got the fried fish classic, one of the deep hole (cauliflower), the chicken city & the one with the shrimp. They were all excellent!! The corn tortillas were so soft, very good. The street corn was great. Make sure to get a frozen margarita (adults only), super refreshing.

Google
Delicious tacos, fabulous rice & beans and amazing street corn! Myself and my husband stopped in while visiting the island and we loved this little spot.

Bill G.

Yelp
Back on the island, back at Pico's. As you can tell from our frequent posts, we love this island and love Pico's. Don't forget to check out the outdoor Sand Bar for some great mixed drinks.

Lindsay K.

Yelp
Stopped here after visiting the wildlife refuge based on a recommendation we got from wildlife staff. This is a super cute little roadside outdoor restaurant that made you feel like you were at the beach despite being in the middle of town. It was sunny and buggy when we went, so we opted to sit inside the little screened in porch section they have. In the back there's an outdoor bar with good drinks and a sandy beach to boot! I am usually more of a fan of traditional, "plain" street tacos but they had some very clever taco concoctions. I got the Chicken City taco and it was very good. I'm not wild about cabbage or anything pickled, so this was a great choice. I wish the tortilla was cooked a bit more, but it held together just fine. The plain old frozen margarita was also a delight. Thankfully it wasn't crazy busy when we went, but worth checking out if you're in the area.

Deebs B.

Yelp
Roadside taco joint at its best. Low key, no fuss, no muss but really good tacos, guacamole and chips!

Stephanie D.

Yelp
Everything we had here was delicious, it's not surprise this is an island favorite. I still think about the watermelon lemonade. Chips and guac - amaze. Their specialty tacos - delicious.

Cheryl T.

Yelp
The food was so nice! Had to go twice. Ordered a repeat of the Maddox Bowl--most amazing oyster bowl! This time it came with thai basal (not sauce) and shredded Jicama and carrots. Delicious is an understatement with the addition of the tarter sauce which tastes different than typical tarter sauce! It's special. Also ordered the empanadas for lunch tomorrow. Three of them with avocado sauce. Look forward to trying them. Jim at the window is warm and accommodating. Thank you!

Ashley M.

Yelp
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was delightful. My six year old loved the frisbee that her kids meal was served on. Whatever you do don't feed the seagulls but that's a known fact all along the coast.

Min Z.

Yelp
It's one of the most popular eateries on Chincoteague Island. Every time we passed by, there was a long waiting line. The service was warm, patient, and outstanding. The nice lady who took our order explained to us what to try. We took her advice and they turned out to be very good. There were outdoor seatings and tables with screen doors. The atmosphere was casual. The prices were a bit high for tacos, but well worth it because they were some of the best tacos I've ever had! We ordered: 4*GUACAMOLE: Served with chips: fresh and good. 5*Chincoteague Classic: there were choices of Chicken, Pork, Beef, or Fried Fish with lettuce, pico de gallo, creme fraiche & Cotija cheese. We ordered smoked pork taco: excellent! Very tasty. 4*Main Street-Seared & seasoned shrimp, green cabbage slaw, guacamole, chipotle creme fraiche & queso fresco: nothing exotic but good. 5*The Deephole-Roasted cauliflower, caper pico de gallo, Parmesan cheese, garlic aioli & crispy shallots: creative and delicious! 4*The Maddox-Cornmeal fried oysters, pickled carrots, daikon radish, house tartar sauce, Thai basil: tasty and original.

Samantha S.

Yelp
Food was amazing!!! I had the chicken chincoteague and it was soo good! Cant wait to have it again when they come back next season. Service was quick and ambiance was nice.

Heidi S.

Yelp
Hands down, best street-style tacos I have ever eaten! Judging by the line (that never seemed to get shorter), there are plenty of people that would agree! If I lived on the island, I'd be here weekly, if not more often. I especially love the "beachy" vibe, even away from the beach. I'll give a little tip for regulars - go order drinks and food at the bar and avoid the line at the main window. You'll get a pager to come get your food. Hubs & I had a couple of beers. He tried 2 tacos and the street corn while I had a bowl. Everything was SO unique & flavorful. I practically licked my bowl clean. We sat at the bar while we sipped and dined and the bartender was super friendly and attentive. There is no reason to miss this place. Go, now!

J R.

Yelp
Delicious! Very tasty food, and very friendly service! Only suggestion I'd have would be to allow half orders of the bowls - we had two tweens with us who didn't want the kids meal but the normal bowl was much too big.

Christie W.

Yelp
Just go! Super yummy! It can be a bit of a wait to place your order but typically it's worth it.

Kathy W.

Yelp
Adorable beach vibe at this roadside stop. They have a bar in the back and tables set up outside. We ordered a few different varieties of tacos to try and the empanada special. The Philly cheesesteak taco was delicious. The fish taco was unfortunately bland and oily. I think it was flounder, but it was very thin and then sliced so all you tasted was breading. It also needed a little squeeze of lime or something. I didn't finish it bc it wasn't worth the calories imo. The Carne asada taco was good but the shrimp taco was meh. The empanadas were tasty. Overall would try it again with a different selection of tacos.

Kyra H.

Yelp
Sometimes you just want an authentic taco without all the shit!!! This places serves up tacos with a bunch of shit. I ordered the lamb Thai which came with too many toppings to even mention. Also I appreciate a good homemade sauce and this place does not have that. My carne Assad taco with pickled cucumbers and red onion relish was the best one.

Sarah K. P.

Yelp
Swing by here for lunch after time on the beach and it was pretty busy, but the line moved quickly. We found a space to sit inside the screened in area (also where the bathrooms are). Food came pretty quick and was tasty! The pork taco was a little on the salty side, but the carne asada bowl was delicious!! Will definitely be back!

Larissa N.

Yelp
Love their tacos. We were visiting for a week and ate there 3 times. I think that says it all. Casual outdoor seating and fun bar area, would highly recommend!

Isabella H.

Yelp
Went here 3 years ago and came back today and the quality is just as I remembered it. I love meat but the chokehold deep hole tortilla taco has on me is crazy!! The cauliflower in it does not disappoint with all the seasoning and texture! Best meat substitute ever and I'm not vegetarian. The tacos with steak and chicken are also good but the flavor in the deep hole is unbeatable!

Greg T.

Yelp
Terrific food and owners. Fun atmosphere and good music on the weekends. The drinks are also a plus

Stephanie G.

Yelp
I wish we lived closer! The overall vibe here is fun. The food was delectable-- truly. We ordered chips and salsa, and their Deep Hole bowl. As I placed my order, the super nice lady, who I can only assume is the owner, asked if I'd like it vegetarian or vegan. Be still my beating heart! She was more than happy to make the adjustments I requested. The end result was delicious. The cauliflower was well roasted and seasoned. My kiddo even loved it. 10/10 would eat here again. Parking was a little tight, but there's plenty of seating. Also, they say they close at 8, but the line was still going strong at that point. Oh, the line to order is long, but moves swiftly.

Kasey P.

Yelp
Our favorite spot on the island. Every year we visit the island we make a point to stop at least once to our favorite taqueria!!! When we first came to the island it was based out of a food truck and it's not surprising to see why and how they finally got their own space to call home. My favorites are the deephole (a great veggie option) and the ridge. The chicken city is my go to on most occasions. Flavorful fresh and delicious.

Mel L.

Yelp
Love this spot on the island! Delicious food and they are pet friendly!! We had chicken quesadillas and the classic taco bowl. Awesome! Looking forward to coming back here with my pup.

Yelp
First night in Chincoteague and decided to grab tacos from Pico since it came highly recommened and got great reviews. On a Friday night, 30 minutes before closing, the place was pretty busy. Despite there being a sign pointing towards the way to go to order (there are two windows for ordering and one for pickup), people were still going up the stairs towards the pickup windown forming their own line to order. We tried the beef and shrimp Chincoteague Classics, the Ridge (x2), and the Chicken City all with flour tortillas since we were taking them to go (recommened by the worker). Hands down favorite was the Ridge, which wasn't a surprise thr taco came with carne asada topped with pickled hot peppers and red cabbage slaw. The carne asada was tender and flavorful. The chimichurri sauce was a nice touch as well. Both classics were also good and came with lettuce, pico de gallo, cotija cheese a crème fraiche. Preference was for the steak over shrimp (seared) of course. Least favorite was the Chicken City. I thought the corn and black bean salsa took over the taco and I could barely tell there was any blackened chicken. I enjoyed the avocado cream, though. If you are in the mood for tacos, give Pico a try. Don't skip their Ridge tacos! I saw they also had a bar in the back sand area and an enclosed dine in area. Parking could be a bit rough, especially if you have larger vehicles.

Yelp
Delicious food. Fast service. This is primarily an outdoor dining experience. Flies were bad today.

Cheryl W.

Yelp
Great place for fresh unique food. Tacos are fantastic. Daily specials always unique. Fun atmosphere and great staff.

Tracey D.

Yelp
Always great! Never dissatisfied and are fully satisfied! Service is great and Tacos are amazing!

Melissa S.

Yelp
My husband and I enjoyed Pico on two occasions during our stay in Chincoteague. We had the empanadas and they were so yummy. Perfectly crispy, yet not greasy. My husband also particularly enjoyed the La Pina at the bar out back. The best sweet treat we had during our stay came from Pico as well - the zucchini brownie. Definitely get one if you can!

Megan B.

Yelp
Po'tot'tos Bravas was delicious! my boyfriend had the classic and i had the main street, both were fantastic and all for a reasonable price, and it all came out pretty quick! will absolutely be back!

Erik L.

Yelp
Probably the best food we had on the island- fresh and tasty, though not sure we've ever paid that much for tacos. Seems the way of things. We would go again!

Tiffany D.

Yelp
Average tacos. Kind of expensive for the value. It was nice to see the variety of food down on the small island. The outdoor ordering and small seating area was Covid friendly. I recommend bringing your own wipes/ spray, as it didn't appear that they come out and wipe the table between guests. There was plenty of parking on site, which was nice. I would try them again, but the overall experience was just average.

Kate C.

Yelp
Ordered the house lemonade, the Chincoteague Classic and main street tacos on flour tortillas and the street corn, all of it was amazing. Great service, quick, especially considering how busy they were!

Valorie E.

Yelp
Great food and good drinks! If you sit at the bar...they have a little fan to keep the flies off. If you sit at a table outside...you 'll get flies. They do have a covered tent area, but we weren't too bothered and our food didn't sit long enough!! :) Between my husband and I, we tried just about every taco and they were excellent. We had chips and salsa too and the salsa is SO good a fresh! Highly recommend!

S G.

Yelp
A place for locals and tourists. Delicious, quick, refreshing food and drinks. Open air and screened in eating areas. Bar and bathrooms, great service with humor...what more could you want?!

Paige L.

Yelp
Excellent food. Great service! Recommend The Chicken City and The Chincoteague Classic.

Kyle M.

Yelp
This place, these tacos, are tacos I literally drive two hours to eat. I have literally planned weekends around these tacos. I suspect these tacos are part of the reason my wife agreed to marry me. Pico Taqueria is to date the best food on Chincoteague. Not the best tacos, the best food. Before I get too deep let me make one thing clear. These tacos are not "authentic Mexican." Nor do they ever really claim to be. Pico very much lives in the culinary world of fusion. Okay? Good, let's move on. In my experience, Pico Tacos are the best tacos in Virginia. Everything they serve is fresh, hand made and hyper packed with flavor. You like guac? I've yet to have guac that rivals Pico's. Tortillas? The corn tortillas are better than they should be. Don't ever play yourself; they offer flour tortillas, but why would you cheat yourself of the bliss of those amazing corn tortillas. And then we get to the protein and toppings. There is definitely a respect for old world cooking here, but each taco is crafted with its own creative twist inspired by modern techniques and flavors. There is a reason why this taco shack went from being a good truck to a brick and mortar, to even building a bar with its own menu and delightful house created cocktails. Great flavors and fresh ingredients coupled with swift and professional staff speaks for itself. Ditch the tourist trap sit down restaurants, and don't be afraid of the long lines. If you come to Chincoteague, you must get tacos here. Someone should make that a law or something.

Nida E.

Yelp
Two stars for friendly service. Too many flies if you sit outside Food was extremely salty and way overpriced Guacamole was so salty we couldn't eat it and had to throw it away.

Kevin R.

Yelp
The Tacos are still the thing that so many restaurants these days are constantly trying to out do each other with lengthy descriptions of exotic combinations. Pico Taco is in a perfect location with a captive summer population and a fair amount of people who are not leaving in the winter anymore. But none the less most folks don't really have to leave the Island. The Tacos we ate today were good, not bad, but sadly not great. The flavours were hit and miss and the Corn tortillas were not warm and they tasted raw. The real surprise was one of the BEST EMPANADAS I've eaten north of Orlando. Simply put they were incredibly well prepared and had everything right going on at once. It's a shame that the Tacos were not half as well prepared as the Empanadas. The Ambiance is outside Beach sand and picnic tables. It's basically a hip place to hit while visiting the island but I'm not sure I'd return twice in the same week if that's all I had ?

Anthony K.

Yelp
The food is simple and extremely well done. The atmosphere is exactly what we were looking for. Laid back beach town vibes

Patrick D.

Yelp
Pretty awesome taco joint! Came in for dinner and it's not fancy but it does serve great food and also has bar service, too. If you want to eat outdoors at picnic tables and enjoy really great tacos - then I think you'll like it. They have an excellent variety of flavor combos with chicken, beef, pork, shrimp, fish, and vegetarian options. Everything we tried was tasty among our group of 8. Service was quick, friendly, and there's not really anything negative to say. If there was a minor thing it was how many flies there were around, but I guess that's expected with outdoor dining. Having said that - they do have a screened section of seating, but we opted for outside.

Art T.

Yelp
My only regret: we both got a bowl, so we only have those entrees as our experience. Because let me say, if the tacos are as good as those bowls were, then we missed out! We stopped in to pick up a couple of bowls and a quesadilla for the kiddo to go. The food was really tasty and very fresh. My Chincoteague Classic with beef was more than filling and very good. I couldn't finish it and the only other thing I got was a lemonade! So, not only was it good, it was huge! btw... the special lemonade that day was Watermelon. Yumm! Very refreshing! My wife got the Main Street with the shrimp. This was also really tasty! I'd consider it myself next visit. I'm sure I'd be a regular here if we had more time or if I lived nearby. This place was really good, and I'm glad it's in town.

John G.

Yelp
Since they were roadside stand have been eating here. They expanded with sit down booths and outside screened in pavilion. When our kids come to visit, they always eat there . Never disappoints. Wishing, They were open all year.

Alexia B.

Yelp
Everything was delicious! Our favorite was the pork tacos. You can tell the tortillas (flour or corn) were homemade. The best Mexican we've ever had. There's a small cantina around the side that serves the tastiest $7 margaritas, don't miss them!

Gabe S.

Yelp
Food was out of this world amazing food really good recommendation for Chincoteague classic. our worker was really nice and he helped us a lot. It's a beautiful outdoor eating area casual love it.

Sam E.

Yelp
This place was packed when we stopped by. They sell T-shirts as well which is cool. I do like the outside ordering and seating. I agree with the previous Yelper on value. Tacos are little pricey. My husband had the Main Street and Ridge tacos. I had their special taco (adobo pork) and the deep hole taco on corn tortillas which fell apart. I used a fork. I was a little disappointed with their street corn as well. The service was good. The setup is cute, there's a bar to the right towards the back where you can get alcoholic drinks.

Judy L.

Yelp
Great spot! Casual , walk up and order then sit outside by the bar or on the screened in patio. Waited only a few minutes for our order to be ready. Had oyster and blackened chicken tacos with corn tortillas that were yummy and shared a blackened chicken bowl that was also very tasty! We went for lunch and it is clearly a favorite in the area from the traffic. Highly recommend!

Zolboo B.

Yelp
We all had tacos from both places (taco loco and tacos). Taco loco is an authentic Mexican. Tacos is an American Mexican fusion. Ihmo: Taco Loco Pastor is the best of all

Billy C.

Yelp
So I feel like I have been slacking here since I've been eating at Pico on the regular for a few years now and haven't left a review! If family owned, locally sourced awesomeness is your thing then this is the place for you! Many great taco combinations with fresh ingredients and flavors. The staff here are outstanding and the owners are some of the best people you will ever meet. Grab yourself a variety of their deliciousness and enjoy the atmosphere of their outdoor dining areas.

James R S.

Yelp
Food was very good. This place is always packed, and now I know why. Will definitely be going back next time I'm in town.

Courtney K.

Yelp
Bottom Line: Tasty tacos served food-truck style in a park like setting. Pico Taqueria is kinda like a food truck except they have a caravan of small buildings and trailers that make up their kitchen, ordering window, storage facility etc. The logistics are that you order at one window and get your drinks and a buzzer. When your buzzer goes off you head to the pick up window to get your tacos. It's a casual setup and very charming. As far as the food goes, I appreciate that Pico focuses on doing what they do best - tacos! My husband and I tried a variety of tacos including the Chicken City taco with black beans, Main Street shrimp taco, Chincoteague classic chicken taco and East Side fried fish taco. We had our tacos on flour tortillas but corn is an option too. The tacos were tasty and hit the spot after almost four hours of kayaking. As far as drinks go, they have various bottled beverages as well as fresh made iced tea and lemonade. Since Pico Taqueria is basically a roadside stand their seating is minimal. There is a picnic table and some Adirondack chairs. There is also some counters for those ok with standing to eat. If none of those options are appealing to you, you can always get it to go. The staff is friendly and they have cornhole boards which is a nice diversion while waiting for your tacos.

Richard L.

Yelp
This review was a tough one to dabble together. I was flip flopping on this just as much as he-who-shall-not-be-named-but-rhymes-with-Dr.-Mauci on masks. But before we go down that rabbit hole, let's get to Pico Taqueria! As much as I thought the tacos were just good, but not great, they still somehow managed to pique my taste buds with each bite. That said, not all the tacos were on the same level. Perhaps there is some bias in being in Chincoteague and not expecting too much (check your biases!). So with that, I threw them a fat 4 stars for the solid street corn and the Maddox taco (aka fried oysters). Three tacos, one street taco. This is how it went down: - The Maddox: Several decent sized pieces of fried oysters. I was actually impressed they didn't skimp too much on the oysters. These were good and the Thai basils were a nice touch (that cross-culture diversity in a taco, or it is cultural appropriation? WhTF knows, it changes every day)! Regardless, I thought the only improvement could have been a bit more of the tartar sauce. (5 out of 5) - The Eastside: Fried fish taco, a classic at any taco place. However, this one did the dirty dirty by throwing in some grapefruit salad. While I can applaud the courage in pushing the envelope, I think they might have mailed the wrong envelope on this one. It wasn't bad, but it just didn't click. Something was off, and I'm pretty sure the grapefruit just wasn't ready to get down with the rest of the party. (3 out of 5) - The Ridge: Carne asada taco, another classic. The cabbage slaw and house peppers really carried this to the finish line. The carne asada was like any other, but those garnishes were a nice touch that added a bit of bite and punch to these. (4 out of 5) - Street Taco: These are to hard to get wrong. Just lather them up with some cotjia cheese and a nice tasty rub and you got yourself a winner. This was no different and I lapped up all the cheese and powder from the bottom of the tray at the end like a ravenous dog. All in all, this is worth a visit if you're ever in town to check out the wild ponies (although don't be dismayed if you just see a few horses grazing in the field like you would at a regular farm). Apparently the majestic views of a team of ponies running around and frolicking in the waters isn't as common as you might think. After a day of gazing at ponies, my goal would be to grab some tacos at Pico Tacqueria and then head over to Black Narrows Brewing for some solid beer.

Yelp
Excellent food! Amazing menu-- very popular with visitors and locals ... Highly recommended.
