Have heard about Pie Town, New Mexico, for several years, finally made the journey there today. We are staying in Socorro, New Mexico, and Pie Town is about 90 minutes west. I was not disappointed. We ate at Pie-O-Neer Pies and the food was first rate! Friendly staff, too. I got the chicken pot pie and it delicious - top and bottom crust, lots of tender chicken, plus veggies. It came with a salad that was yummy too, plus a Pecan pie muffin, yes, you read that right PECAN PIE MUFFIN! My wife had the green chile quiche which came with the same salad and muffin, plus potatoes and apple slices. We also got pie (duh!) and it was also delicious. The crust was perfect and the fillings were excellent. I had the cherry - tart, not too sweet - and my wife got the lemon chiffon with a meringue crust (gluten free). This place is the bomb! Highly recommended.

Google
What a cool place! We found Pie Town in February when we came to visit the Very Large Array and decided to come see what it’s all about. I love how you feel like you’ve stepped back in time here. The sweet lady working asked where we were from and she had connections to Colorado Springs as well. I didn’t catch her name but she was lovely. We got 4 slices of pie to-go and all 4 were so delicious! Personally, I loved the French coconut and the apple🥧. It was so peaceful and quiet in this town, I honestly just stood outside and soaked up the silence for a while😆Also, I think we were the first Cybertruck in Pie Town, so for any EV drivers curious if you can make it here coming from Santa Fe: it is possible if you charge extra in Socorro!

Google
Worth going a little out of your way to stop here. Menu is small and seems to change based on whatever they have but everything was really good. The pizza "pie" was homemade crust made to order. Their cookie was amazing, we tried a few different pies and they were all amazing (not just grocery store reheats). No idea what the prices actually were because it wasn't really listed but the overall ending bill even with pies and drinks was cheaper than a lot of the random diners we stopped by on our trip. The wait staff was all super friendly. I wish they had a bit more fun "pie town" merch!

Google
Thus was our second visit to Pie Town, NM, and Pie-O-Neer, where the pies are hot and tasty, and the people are welcoming. We were there the day before the Pi Day celebration, so we didn't get to try the food. We did enjoy a few different flavors of pies. We also bought their famous Clyde Norman apple pie and New Mexico Apple pie 🥧 Looking forward to trying the NM apple pie because it's made with Hatch green chilies and pinions (pine nuts). It's definitely worth the stop!

Google
Does this place live up to its name, yes! The pies deliver the goods. Lunch time options very daily, it’s a shoot from the hip kinda place with two to three options. But do you need more,NO! The food is great, pies are killer, coffee is top notch!!!

Google
Food here was absolutely incredible! You may have to have some patience for the homemade food in how long it takes, but the wait is well worth it! Staff were super friendly and I would gladly be back!

Google
We came from near albquerque to have pie the owners and owner were very nice and the pie was really good my 79 yr old mom wanted to mark this place off her bucket list the owner was so nice to my mom step dad and I and gave us some coffee cups to take back home with us thank you so much my mom loves that coffee cup.

Google
We had spinach mushroom quiche and blueberry pie. They were delicious and naturally sweet without added sugar. It was a surprising discovery on the drive to New Mexico and we were glad to find it.

Yelp
Everything I had hoped and more. Got there later in the day so some of the food and pie options were limited--but didn't matter because what they had was awesome. Chili with corn "bread" (was more like heavenly cake) and salad was delicious. The pies were as good as you could want. Super fresh. Service was fantastic. Couldn't have been more friendly. This is a stop worth planning for on any trip through the area. Couldn't recommend more highly.

Yelp
This is homemade food-not fast food and it was delicious! A simple tasty menu that changes daily. The service was quick and friendly, even when it got busy. A rustic country setting that was clean and shared the history of the town. We had the green chile tomato quiche, the far east feast, and the deep dish pizza. So much food. Each served with its own little dessert. The Oreo cream pie was rich, thick, and meet all your chocolate needs with a buttery flakey crust. The perfect little spot to stop driving through.

Yelp
Friendly service and delicious pie! A must stop if you're in the area. Had a delicious pie in here 26 years ago and it's still awesome.

Yelp
My students and I visited Pie-O-Neer Pies during our summer school session of June 2024. My coworkers and I brought 7 middle school students. Sara and her wonderful workers Isabel, Irene and Heather were all so patient and kind to our students. We enjoy their pizza and the students were able to each make their own mini 6inch pie. We all went home with different slices and 6in pies as well. Trying a variety of types, peaches and cream pie, New Mexico apple (with the secret ingredient of green chile), chocolate cream pie, triple lemon cream, cherry pie and Las Cruces pecan pie. I truly enjoy all the memorabilia hung inside the cafe and how much pride Sara takes in her cafe the pies and caring for her customers and staff. Worth stopping in when driving through New Mexico on Highway 60. We also got the pleasure of meeting the Infamous Paul of Pie Town.

Yelp
This was our first time here and everything was amazing. I pies were great, the people are amazing and so nice, and the entire interior is just so homey it's wonderful. We came here after being less than impressed with the pie shop down the road that we had been going to for so long and I think we just found our new favorite pie shop.
google avatar

Maranda H.

Yelp
Mmmm the pot pie was a clear winner-it's a heavy meal don't let the size fool you-bring a friend and share. They also have cold pie to go if you're in a hurry.

Yelp
So I was on my way to Truth or Consequences New Mexico. Yes that is the correct name of where I was going. Saw this huge sign on the road that said, 'Stop' Now I took this not as a warning but as a suggestion. I went to this restaurant and saw the most Delicious pies on display. It was very cozy and quaint inside. Much like all the establishments in New Mexico I'm noticing. Well, I had a multitude of choices I decided on the blueberry. I waited till I got to my hotel and had it after my steak dinner. It was the most delicious pie I've ever had.

Yelp
What do you expect when you come to a wide spot in the road called Pie Town? Me - stop with any cafe with Pie in the name. So we did. Long motorcycle ride, about halfway around a loop and needed time to get out of the saddle, eat and quench the thirst. We entered a building probably out of the 1930's knickknacks galore and historical pics of the town in the 40's. Small menu board at the counter - only 4 items to chose from. Chicken & green chile pot pie & a slice of coconut cream pie. A generous slice of pie was served 1st. Sweet & topped with toasted coconut it was delicious. 1/2 way thru it the pot pie is delivered. Pot pie is hot, nice brown crust and a good sized amount of green chile on top. No it doesn't compare to anything I've eaten before. Not much broth in the middle. Instead loaded with slices of chicken, cheese & chile. Comfort food at its finest. It was a lot of food - couldn't finish my dessert or entree. Cost was on the higher side. But again large portions and it was a meal - not a snack. Out of the way, wide spot in the road serving up a great meal.

Yelp
Pie Town, NM is one of those places you could miss if you blink. But keep your eyes peeled, because this fabulous little pie shop is worth the stop. Fabulous, homemade pies. Sunday supper is fun and unique, and at the whim of the chef. Don't be in a hurry. Just relax and enjoy some pie.

Yelp
Super good pies, I stopped by on my way to go camping in the Gila, picked up a 6inch snickerdoodle and a slice of strawberry lemon. So tasty and love the sweet tea. The walls are decorated with pie town history which was fun to read while I waited. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Always wanted to have pie in Pie Town and the trip didn't disappoint! Everyone I talked to consistently said that all the pies were good - so pick whichever sounds yummiest to you. My friend had the New Mexico Apple with (lots) of ice cream. I ordered the Lemon Blueberry Buttermilk. They were both amazing. Portion sizes are very generous - ended up having to box up what we couldn't finish. Also bought a slice of the Peach to go for my friend who couldn't make the trip. The atmosphere is super cute and folksy. Lots of local goodies available for purchase. The owner was very friendly and we struck up a wonderful conversation when things slowed down enough for her to chat.

Yelp
The pies are fantastic but get their early or call ahead and they will try to make your favorite . My husband loves the green chili apple pie and I love the triple berry and the coconut. Everyone is so friendly. It's a very good day out!

Cindy C.

Yelp
Passing through on the way to Socorro. Hubby and I both had a piece of coconut cream pie. It was amazing. Next time I want to try the pot pie!

Yelp
Our family stops in here every 6 months or so as we visit relatives in New Mexico. First off, you walk in and the decor is everything! It is country eclectic with a very homey feel. The staff is welcoming and even remembers our family when we stop in. The pies... oh the pies! there is always a wide variety of homemade never store bought (there is not a super market within 50 miles of this place) pies. You will not be disappointed when you stop in for a quick bite or a leisurely afternoon. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND PIE-O-NEER.

Alan J.

Yelp
Long drive, but worth it. The pies are like your great-grandmother would have made if she made really, really good pies.
google avatar

Kevin S.

Yelp
This is a gem of a pie shop! Pie-Town you did not disappoint! Great combinations of flavors and traditional pies. We hope to one day be back through and visit the fine people of pie-o-neer. We each had a different flavor of pie, 5 of us, and each one was excellent. The best was surprisingly the Triple Lemon pie my daughter had...

Missy R.

Yelp
Really good chicken sandwich! Fresh and tasty! Got a variety sampler of the pies, husband said the Apple was the BEST he has ever had! Trust me when I say he had tried a whole bunch of apple pies, this one is absolutely TOPS!!! Stop in and try for yourself!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Oh, my.... What a treasure in the middle of nowhere. Well, don't get me wrong, the ride there was phenomenal scenery. The pies (yes, I had two slices) were too good yet true. The quiche was fresh, hot, served with a salad and a muffin. Yum! Friendly crew, great stop for lunch!
google avatar

Deirdre E.

Yelp
Everything on the menu is out of this world delicious. You can't go wrong with any choices at Pie O Neer. No matter where one may roam, this place will be a stand out. It is obvious that Sarah, the owner, puts her whole heart into the quality, flavor and service at her incredible establishment. Everyone who works there is terrific, too. In a world that has forgotten the value of thank you, welcome, uncompromising standards and a smile, this place is a desert oasis. I have come every day they are open for the past week and can't wait to return! Oh ya, and the pies are stratospheric greatness, anything but ordinary. Enjoy!

Yelp
I stopped here on a whim and I am sure glad I did. I got to speak to the pie lady and she was the best. Amazing customer service that made you feel like family. Am I family? I think I might be. The place is so cute inside. Rustic and classic. Real wood burning stove for heat. This place is one of a kind Oh and the PIES!!!! Get there early before they run out!!!

Mar O.

Yelp
Eating pie shouldn't be a political experience, but like so many things in our society today, apparently it is. They're entitled to their political opinions, and we're entitled to take our business elsewhere. Never did get to the pie part.

Pat J.

Yelp
We drove over 2 hours. Got there at 12:30 and it wasn't open yet. Some people had been waiting over an hour. Finally opened the doors and were told pies weren't ready yet. Would be an hour or so before they were cool enough to cut. What? Also website has menu listed but they do not serve food. Cool building but obviously won't go back.
google avatar

Conni K.

Yelp
You have to love it when dessert is served first, and then wait for the meal We had the pozole, and the pepperoni pot pie Home cooked deliciousness, absolutely worth the stop and small wait Food was sooo good!!! The servers were very kind

Yelp
What a gem in a gorgeous part of New Mexico. I couldn't move to NM and not visit a place called Pie Town. So glad we made the drive. We were greeted by the smell of baked goodness and iced tea. Then, we waited. This is obviously the small town hang out and food is made to order. Be prepared to wait for your food. I took the time to look at their merch and souvenirs for sale. The food was worth the wait. I got a half sub (which was still huge) and the bread was amazing. Rivals hoagies that I've had in Pennsylvania. Next time, we'll order the pizza. The orders of pizza around us looked delish. The real star of the show was the pie, of course. We ordered the coconut buttermilk, as it had just come out of the oven. It was decadent and tasted like a macaroon pie. We'll be back. May order pie first while waiting for the remainder of our order. Why not eat dessert first when you're in Pie Town?

Thomas A.

Yelp
Very nice pie place. The inside is warm and inviting. Gives the feeling of a very relaxed laid back oasis off the road. Very nice ladies serving pies and explaining what each pie is. Wonderful...

Lucinda E.

Yelp
A Must Stop for NM travelers!!! We stayed off freeways from Alamagordo to Flagstaff after a truly awe inspiring visit to White Sands Missile Range Museum. On the way to Flagstaff, we were lured to the Pie o Neer shop. The best pies and legacy photos of Pietown awaited us. The owner took time to walk through the historical photographs and memorabilia. A great experience!

Bobby D.

Yelp
In the middle of nowhere NM, there is Pie Town. And in Pie Town, NM, there is pio-o-ne'er pies. I had apple berry pie (apples and blueberry. It was flavorful and delicious.

Billy P.

Yelp
Excellent food, the pecan pie muffin is delicious and went back the following weekend and had chocolate Oreo pie and it was amazing as well. Staff is very friendly and it's a cool little cafe.
google avatar

William C.

Yelp
The food is great, the service is great, very friendly staff. Ambiance is old time and pictures are hung to help with its local history. Very interesting place to stop in, get a slice of pie, learn a bit of history, shake a few hands then be on your way.

Yelp
Today my partner and I drove from Flagstaff. Pie Town is the half way point where we met a friend to pick up our new Pug. The owner and staff could not have been any nicer accommodating us with our dogs. This place is absolutely adorable, and nostalgic without being totally kitschy. Now onto the food. Of course I was expecting good pie, but our lunch was amazing. The menu is limited, but I actually like that because you know they are paying attention to detail. I order the taco salad and my partner and friend ordered the tamale pie. Keep in mind the menu changes, so this just happened to be the specials today. My taco salad was beyond good. Everything is scratch made. It's not your Taco Bell shell. It was freshly made and fried to perfection and filled with delicious meat and all the things you expect in a taco salad. Super fresh and flavorful. They swooned over the tamale pie and freshly fried chips. The server then brought out 3 apple pie breads. A take on Navajo fry bread. It was light and flaky, with sweet syrupy apples on top. Of course we couldn't leave without getting a slice of pie to come home. I chose the sweet potato pineapple pie. I haven't eaten it yet because I'm still full from lunch. This place is a gem! We can't wait to go back.

Yelp
The friendliest cafe in pie town with the best food! Worth waiting for- don't bother with the other ones, this one wins for atmosphere, the best cooking and baking, and sweet employees. Have visited a few times, and always so good!
google avatar

Brooke D.

Yelp
Worth the stop! If you're in a hurry, do yourself a favor and at least stop for pie. They usually have a variety of fresh baked pies to choose from, a slice or the whole pie. Last time we passed through, we got six different slices and they were all amazing! Today we stopped for lunch. They only had pizza available (day before Thanksgiving, they were so busy filling all their pie orders ), and it was so good! Took about 25minutes for food to be ready, so we settled in and looked at all the pictures on the walls and fun memorabilia. Everything was so fresh and delicious, their supreme was unlike anything we'd ever had, each bite an explosion of flavors. Service was excellent, lovely conversation all around. If you stop, don't be in a hurry. Slow down and enjoy this Pie Town gem!

Yelp
Amazing place. If you always wonder "make America great again" and wondered when it was the greatest, this is it. Small town. Everyone is super friendly. Food is amazing. Very very good. Everything around you is old Americana. Wonderful stop on a road trip.

Steve H.

Yelp
If you find yourself in this remote location, stop by and have some pie. I was on a long cross-country trip and a major interstate accident forced me through here (I was familiar with it from an earlier trek). Last time through we were there before opening. This time, I didn't plan to stop for a meal or table service, but I bought a $36 pie. Worth...every...penny! I know it seems like a lot but it was really good. Enough said.

Yelp
ONE HOUR and 30 MINUTES!!! Yep, 90 minutes and no food! We were seated, had our drinks and ordered as a car club arrived. 16 in their group. How do I know? I heard the guy headcount for the waitress. We ordered from our table as the car club scanned the day's pies and ordered from the counter. We asked for a BLT and bowl of chili. (Menu said best BLT in the world so of course we wanted to try it). And then we waited. Finally after the car club got their pies and coffee we thought our food would arrive. But no. The table next to us said service is slow, "real slow" one guy says with raised eyebrows. So we asked and were told by a woman from the kitchen (who looked overheated and overwhelmed) that she hadn't even started our order. Honestly, we weren't mad. We said ok, canceled our order. We paid for a soda and mini pie. Yet the owner acted defensive and insulted that we were leaving. Which was confusing. Why were we considered at fault? Did she really think we would wait even longer? For such a simple order. (I believe she was unaware of the situation. Still she was rude/unprofessional). Even our waitress kept apologizing to us over the owner's grumbling. Again, AN HOUR and A HALF! I was shocked when we got in our car and it said an hour and 45 minutes we had been there. (I'm not counting the time we took to sit down before ordering). Can't give a pie review, the whole experience left us ignored and unsettled so we threw the pie out. It's a cute place, be aware it's not the best managed place. Yet for pie and coffee, which is what we should have done, it's probably just fine. And remember, service is slow, real slow

Yelp
Delicious pie. Delightful owner and staff. A real throwback to the stuff that matters. Good food. Good service. A nice atmosphere. That's it. Makes you feel connected again. PS do yourself a favor and take a New Mexican Apple pie to go. Yes, a whole pie. You'll be glad you did.

Jeff K.

Yelp
Pie-O-Neer is the best! I've been here 3 times. Last week, I drove over from Alpine for lunch and had a great Black Forest ham wrap. Then, the higjlight - apple pie al a mode. Oh yeah, plus coffee, since I had some driving ahead of me. Do yourself a favor and stop in. The pie is unmatched. You will not be disappointed
google avatar

Yelp
We've passed this place so many times and never stopped. So glad we did today. So cute inside and out with rockers on the porch. But the best is inside. Starting by being greeted by a very busy lady behind the counter. She still found the time to welcome us. The menu we asked for was a blackboard with 4-5 items. I remember seeing quiche, but home made pizza was it. After all it's pie! Then came the hard part, picking slices of pie. All looked wonderful. I chose apple with chilis. Had to try it. Beyond yummy. Wishing I'd bought the whole pie. Hubby chose pecan. He said the best he's had. They brought our slices of pie first! Beyond delicious. Then came the pizza along with a fresh greens salad with a delicious vinaigrette. Of course had to have something to take home. So chose a mini fresh peach pie for tomorrow. That is if it lasts that long. You must stop here. The place is filled with original photos of the people who've come before us. Who made this place what it is. Friendly staff, wonderful atmosphere, and the best ever food and PIE!!!

Yelp
Arrived at noon on a Friday and they were out of pies. How does a "famous" pie place run out of pies? Don't waste your time driving there for just for a photo op.
google avatar

Cheryl L.

Yelp
This little restaurant is fantastic. Food was cooked to order, delicious and portions were huge! There is a large variety of great pies-we were so full we had to take our pie to go. Service was excellent, the cafe was spotlessly clean and it was decorated with historic local photographs and nostalgic items. Great ambiance!

Janice B.

Yelp
I didn't have super high hopes, given how small and weathered Pietown is, but this place blew me away. Yes we had to wait a long time for our lunch (45 min) but they let us know ahead of time and when our food finally came (spinach/cheese quiche and beef stew) it was absolutely delicious, plentiful, with an excellent side salad and pecan muffin. We topped off with coconut cream pie and apple pie and they did not disappoint. If you're passing through Pietown, don't miss the chance to stop and enjoy.

Yelp
We were extremely disappointed. We drove out of our way due to recommendations and at the request of family to get some pie here. The sign on the door stated a noontime opening. There was a group of hikers on the porch and more and more people gathered outside, but the shop remained closed. The wind was howling and the hikers were freezing. Someone called the number in the door and it went to voicemail. People came and left. Around 12:30, a gentleman came up and said he had contacted the owner and they'd open soon. A short time later frazzled woman opened the door and said they weren't going to open. Then she noticed the locals in the group. She said she would let people inside, but they couldn't ask for anything. She said it would be an hour until any pies would be ready. What a terrible way to treat customers. So shameful. I'm glad the hikers got to go inside and warm up, but overall, it was a bad day in Pie Town.
google avatar

Becky D.

Yelp
The New Mexico apple pie was the bomb! Such an interesting blend of flavors and good crust, too
google avatar

Kurt P.

Yelp
We stopped in at 4:15pm, after the posted closing time and were warmly greeted by the staff. We had 4 pieces of pie and coffee. My wife is a pie expert, and she proclaimed her cherry pie "great!". I had the Apple Macaroon, and I really liked the eggy top crust. It's hard to serve fresh pie all day long, but considering we arrived after closing the crusts on our pies were nice and flaky. Nice touches: fire burning in the wood stove, art gallery. I wish they had more than 1 bathroom (unisex), but if that's all I can complain about that indeed is high praise. If you are passing through this is a must-stop.

Shaun D.

Yelp
Really cool little restaurant near the Continental Divide serving great meals and delicious pie. Really enjoyed the small-town ambience, friendly locals and great service. I'm definitely going to figure out how to work this place into any future road trips through the Southwest.
google avatar

Tommy A.

Yelp
What a wonderful little restaurant. They have a limited menu but lots of wonderful pie. When we got there the front porch was packed with musicians playing country music and happy people eating their favorite pie. The main reason we come to this restaurant and this part of the state is the annual Pie Festival. This will be are 6th year going to the Pie Festival and it seems it only gets bigger and better every year.
google avatar

Marin K.

Yelp
We had cherry cherry, very berry, and apple green chile piñon pie. All of it was fabulous! We took another apple green chile piñon and a coconut cream with us for tomorrow. It was storming like crazy and the power went out so we hung out and chatted with pie master Kathy. Awesome lady, awesome place! Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Yelp
I struck Gold at Pie-O-Neer ;) Indeed a charming & rustic cafe full of lots of love & pie memorabilia all over the walls, you definitely know alot of love & passion was involved in this little "goldmine" I had the pleasure of speaking with Kathy over the phone a month ago about coming down and by golly she is the sweetest most passionate woman "Pioneer of Pies" you will ever speak to! She truly is such a gracious & lovely lady on the phone as well as in person. So glad to meet such a genuine & humble owner like this! We took the boys on a short road trip back in June and thought it would be the perfect weather for some sweet "Summer Skies & Pies". The drive down yonder is quite picturesque and not long as the scenery is simply peaceful & tranquil! We were the first to arrive as Kathy mentioned loads of folks come on down in anticipation of getting first dibs on the selections of Pies and she was right......glad we listened we ordered 4 different slice, blueberry, cherry, chocolate cream and the number one "Sweet Molasses" I really enjoyed all the pies however I do think they could be ALOT sweeter but hey maybe that's just me as I like to be extra "Sweeter" you know! The Aroma of fresh delicious Pies made with lot of sweet love and stellar customer service is what Pie-O-Neer stands for and certainty this little "Goldmine" should be on everyone's bucket list!~~~~Y'all come back now, y hear?~~

Yelp
Great pie, great service , fun atmosphere!! Very much worth the drive on US60 in NM! We will be back for sure ! The tart cherry/pecan pie was fantastic
