I went for karaoke on Saturday night and the two twin Grey haired brothers were extremely rude, singled out their people and took my $20 tip after denying me a turn to sing "and I waited for hours".. They let me sing last, very begrudgingly. I will not be giving Pied Piper my business ever again nor referring my friends going there.

Very, safe cocktail lounge, great ownership, great location n surrounding businesses/ Restaurant's everywhere, Everytime I stop by n have a soda pop, I meet, another person, I grew with from the San Francisco Bay Areas, San Jose, South Bay, Monterey Counties included. Bill owner- Pro Surfer in his younger day's in Santa Cruz , CA. Where I hung out and grew up. Always someone bring a nice spread of pizza' , Jamaican food😝donuts etc...yy Sacramento CA s

I went there for karaoke one night with my friends, and had a marvelous time! Everybody there was nice and it was really chill there. Hopefully that is still the case.

Actually, this wasn't a bar, it's the Jamaica restaurant next door that we vacated. Very friendly and down to earth family style seating. Music, playing was an island vibe.

Love Love this Bar! It's a dive .but u will have more fun here with the cheap drinks great Bar tenders Big Mike Jannie, Karie , Mike,really make make it a memory u wont forget., we have karaoke , darts, shuffle board. A hidden, little, dive bar treasure.. with some of the cheapest drinks in town. karaoke Friday and Saturday. This can be a fun little place when people come out, and the right bartender is working .. they do tend to run out of things often .

Absolutely friendly never a negative experience here no fights no one gets buligrent and loud just real conversation yes older folks some young but calm fun setting with fun karaoke and I've used the men's rest room here and I'm female multiple times over span of 3 yrs. I've attended here and feel very safe! the bar tenders know me and I look younger then I am but just positive everytime with every one I interact with

Pied Piper brings "dirty little bar" vibes to life, literally! I don't visit the establishment often, nor do many others. I've never seen more than a dozen people there at any one time during the last several years since it was one of the last Lounges in Sacramento to be forced into becoming a non-smoking establishment. These days, there's a sprinkling of patrons, even on karaoke nights. It's truly unfortunate. If the ownership spent a little money on scrubbing the nicotine off every surface in there, gave it a face lift, possibly partnered with the 2 or 3 neighboring restaurants right next door to offer food, they could bring this place back to life. It's adjacent to the newest luxury movie theater in SacTown, lots of residential and multifamily housing, employment centers like Kaiser, Town & Country Plaza, Costco, etc. People like to get off work and grab a drink together or grab a drink before seeing a movie. I am not a fan but I could be. The Pied Piper has potential. Truly, outside of that they really just need some directional signs to inform patrons that parking is provided for in the rear. The front lot only accommodates a handful of cars (maybe 8-10) and is shared with at least 3-4 other businesses.

My kinda crowd 24/7... 365. For myself , Originally from the " Bay" . Last Sunday it stopped by, not knowing 95 percent of the crowd. The female bartender said where are you from? San Jose... Her & I went my to exactly all the same school's... She couldn't believe that.. with that said Im5 Tommy from Sacramento now 25 years here. Love it.

The staff is always friendly and humorous, maybe a bit spicy too but all in fun. They make the best bloody Marys in town! The crowd is mixed and fun! I enjoy talking to Charlie. It's clean and nice with very comfortable bar stools. Karaoke night is very entertaining to say the least.

Super dive bar that looks right out of a 60s or 70s movie. Nothing to write home about except the nice old timers that were killing it doing Karaoke. The place needs a Deep clean from top to bottom but other than that it was okay. Oh and they let you bring in food from the restaurant next door.

Loved this place! Mike the bartender was great! Friendly and knew when you needed a refill 30 seconds in advance. Good music. Tvs. A true dive so some potty mouth could be heard throughout the bar but this fella was not offended. Look forward to returning next time in the area.

Interesting idea for an establishment near El Camino and Watt within a golf drive of Country Club Plaza. Food? Nah, not here, but there's a Domino's Pizza next door which trickled in steadily. Lovely, dark and not really shady at all, a friend suggested this place so he could enjoy a cigar while drinking. While I didn't put a stogie up to my mouth, today it feels as if I had done exactly that. Aroma? Yes, I have the essence of smoke coming from my body this morning. Excellent combo with the alcohol consumption? I think that's their shtick.

This is a great neighborhood Dive Bar, everyone is welcome from bikers, LGBQT, mixed couples, rednecks, cowboys, and any other group that I may have left out Sorry I'm trying to say it's inclusive, if you don't feel comfortable tell somebody. Yes there's the occasional "drama king/queen" but it doesn't last. You can play darts, or sing Karaoke, ....! Stop on by

Great little dive bar. They have craft beer on tap for $5, and a great selection of bottom to mid shelf spirits for a reasonable price. They also had watermelon and some charcuterie out for free. The bartender Mike was very professional and courteous. I played some darts for really cheap and had some great conversation with some of the other locals. I saw a sign for live music yesterday that I missed, would love to come back and see it. They also have happy hour 4-6 and with craft beer at $5 a pour normally, their happy hour prices must be insanely good. I'm so glad I found this local hole in the wall and I will definitely be back. If I could leave a 0 i would. I came in for 2 drinks and gave the lady my card. When I was trying to close out she couldn't find my card. Patrons told her they saw her take my card. Basically told me she doesnt know what to tell me but call my bank and cancel my card. How do you lose my card in 15 minutes. Very unprofessional place she looked like she was tweaking. First and last time here.

Old hag bartender is rude and looks drunk. Never coming here again.from the reviews it looks like we're not the only ones and the place reeks.

We came in for a drink after having dinner next door. We were a little hesitant at first...all we saw were old biker dudes hanging outside, and there was a strong odor of smoke wafting from the inside. It's a dive bar and there was a karaoke sign, so we sucked it up, and followed the Pied Piper. Even though I saw people smoking outside, I think they may still allow it in the bar? The female bartender greeted us right away and there was a handful of customers sprinkled about. Cool place for no pressure karaoke singing, and the karaoke host has got some pipes (like he would be a definite 4 chair turn on "The Voice!")! Our friend bought our drinks so I don't know the prices, but it was a fairly decent pour. We probably would've stayed longer for karaoke, but the smoky stench was too much for me.

2 stars is being generous. Never order anything but sealed bottled/canned drinks. Terrible service. Bartender is always drunk at work. Cant pour without spilling all over the place or over-pouring. Even as early as 9:30. Glasses are not washed properly. Drink garnishes are never fresh. Ice bin is dirty. Bartender over-serves customers. Restaurant next door blasting music and having a separate party in the parking lot letting kids play near everyones cars. I go out to have a good time. Not to be nervous about my car and personal health snd safety all night.

I've always seen this place but just stumbled into it with a friend last night. Super nice and cool bartender named Kam. Drinks were cheap, place was divey but clean and tidy, karaoke was happening. Would recommend!!

3.5 stars, rounding it properly to 4 stars. Nice bartender, lotto machine, smoking inside (what?!), shuffle board, dart boards, karaoke, happy birthday signs everywhere, and cheap drinks. But I can't breathe in here though.

This is the most divey-ist bar I've ever gone to! Folks are smoking, bartender is smoking , LIVE KARAOKE is going on ... OMG. WHERE DID MY HUSBAND TAKE ME?! Overall I had a blast. Everyone is extremely friendly and I spent the majority of time laughing. I will definitely be back haha Cheap drinks, Great company YES.

Closer to 3.5 stars... Pied Piper is right near my house and I finally made a point to visit. We walked in around 8:30 to find mostly older patrons, TVs playing assorted games, shuffleboard and other bar games. "Sway" poured from the jukebox and filled the low-lighted room. At the end of the bar a tall older man dressed in all black and a cowboy hat danced the mambo to Dean Martin's words, and tried to convince the bartendress to join him. I promptly fell in love. We grabbed a table and had some cocktails. The mixed drinks were a mixed bunch- some were great and some were not as good. No problem, we figured next time we'd stick to beer or straight alcohol. I also liked that smoking is allowed inside, though at times it got pretty stuffy in there. By 9/9:30 most of the older patrons left and people our age were showing up. The jukebox stopped playing classics and started rap and hiphop. A man started setting up for kareoke. Girls with bedazzled jeans showed up. None of this ruined Pied Piper for me... hell, I sang along to a Westside Connection song. But admittedly I like the vibe of the place when I first arrived, cuz I *love* me a nice cozy dive bar. I'll come back again, just probably a bit earlier :)

So Im not ashamed to admit that once in a blue moon I partake in what my friends and I have nicknamed "day drinking". You guessed it...drinking in a dive bar when the sun is out and I should be doing a hundred other more responsible things. Oh well. Stopped by this little joint with a couple of friends... felt like I was in a Reno casino with all the smoke and 80s feathered hair, but hey you're right off Watt Ave so you get what you get. The bloody marys here are strong, spicy, and best of all cheap as hell. Want to get buzzed on a budget? This is your place.

Having said that...this place is Smokin'!!!! They offer lots of smoking and lots of karoake singing. We didn't smoke but we sang a little karoake. The Ice Cold Red Budweisers in a special aluminum bottle were VERY cold. I needed mittens. $3.75. We attended because we're part of the Dive Bar Connoisseurs group. Otherwise, I would not hang out here mainly because of the cigarette smoke. Second hand smoke is tough for me to deal with. Maybe if I did smoke it would be easier to hit the low notes on a Johnny Cash tune. If you like to smoke and sing this is your Nirvana.

Don't bother if you not a reg or of color. I've went there a lot alone after catching bus home. It's close to where I live and it's nice if you don't want to drive after drinking due to sac RT transportation. 3/4/20: went in with husband and we sat at table by the shuffle board. There was not much seating for two together at bar itself. We waited for twelve minutes and left. The older man with glasses behind bar never once acknowledged my husband and I. My husband even walked to men's room, came back and asked if he took our order. I said no. Even if bar key had asked us what we wanted from his side of bar would have been fine. We could have walked up and gotten it. He never asked or looked our way. I don't want to say he's racist, because I'm Indian and have been served many times without hesitation at this place. Could this shitty service be because my husband is black/white? I order well drinks. My hubs orders top shelf Long Islands or Hennessy. We pay and tip well being that we both worked in dining establishments let alone dive bars. I wanted so bad to say "do we come up to bar and order?" But he just never acknowledged us. He sat there serving his bar seaters and sipped his coffee with hand on hip. My husband said he didn't want his fat lazy ass serving us shitty drinks IF we even were to eventually get served. So we left and went to Ernies down the way. They have HH until 7. Sad because not many dive holes serve patrons who drink alone and make them feel comfortable. This place used to do that. Not anymore. At least for me. I like the lady with pretty long hair. She would have at least seen and served us, regardless if we were sitting at bar or a table in front of bar. Go to Ernies. They are nice after a long day at work. Skip this place if old man with glasses is behind bar. Sad, I used to venture here. Not anymore. Y'all missed out on at least a $20 tip for two Long Islands.

We were looking for a dive bar with classy cocktails and service, and these guys were on point. Service was kinda drag but they are busy and short staffed I'm sure

As divey a bar as you can get, but if that's what you want for the night, this will do in a pinch. I haven't been to an establishment (drinking or otherwise) in Cali for YEARS that allowed smoking, but this place does! Crazy. But, it kinda went with the ambiance, so I didn't mind so much (and I'm a non smoker...go figure). Came here to have drinks to celebrate my friend's birthday (they have a monthly birthday board, which I thought was pretty cute). They also have karaoke which makes any event more fun and lively. The drinks were strong yet tasty, and the crowd is definitely diverse.

I'm here the overwhelming majority of my nights, so I definitely owe this place a fifth star. The bartenders here are awesome, with special acknowledgement to Monica, Alvin, Terri, and Mike. Monica runs the weekends and her regulars are dedicated, friendly, and reflect her general awesomeness. I come in on Wednesdays just because Alvin is that cool. This is a dive bar. People who expect otherwise should take their entitlement issues elsewhere. If you just want a friendly place to hang, this will do or I do not like you.

Had a good time here. They have Karaoke here on the weekends. Bartender was awesome. Crowd was friendly.

I love the atmosphere and the employees, they always acknowledge you. It's a pretty chill bar I highly recommend trying them out. :) my boyfriend and I love this place.

This Bar is our Favorite! I don't Smoke, and it's only outside in back or front away from the door! Patrick has the most wonderful voice, he could totally record! He is the Karaoke host and Janey the Beautiful Bartender is wonderful! Karoake starts at 9:00 on Friday and Saturday! My fiancé and I always are entertaining when we come! We do songs and dance together, and I always have my Tambourine!

Management seems nice. Looked dead from outside but when I walked in, the long bar was full. Everyone in here smokes so if your a smoker, you'll probably like the place. If your bothered by smoke, this is not the place for you because the ventilation isn't very good. There's a light haze through out the establishment.

Holy 1983. For better or worse, the interior of this bar reminds me of the one in "The Accused" circa the same time period. Dated pictures and trinkets adorn the wall, the jukebox blares out songs that are three decades old and the clientele is all 40+ and smokes heavily. This may sound like a disastrous combination, but to anyone who enjoys a good authentic dive as much as I do it's heavenly. I came in with three buddies just for the experience. I'd heard about the piper from some barfly legends I occasionally chat with and wanted to see if it lived up to their praise. Everyone was raucous and friendly and it had a genuine warm vibe that made me want to glue myself to a stool, drink cheap and stiff gin and tonics and waste the evening away. The only downside (and this could be a deal breaker for many) is the smoking. They allow it, state laws be damned. If you're okay with some cigarette fumes to go along with your equally unhealthy alcoholic beverage, this is a place you could really enjoy.

As far as Bars go, not so much As far as Dive bars go...Nothing tops it. If you want a sense of how the other half live, the Arden Arcade Dive Scene is the place to roam. This is the greatest dive bar I've ever been in and I spent some time in Wisconsin. What's on the menu? Alcohol and cigarettes. Yes, there are still places that you can go and share your smokers breath with others in close proximity and not worry about them whipping you with a lawsuit. The beer is usually cheap and so are the hair cuts in this place. If you're lookin for tail, guys, hope you like the cotton tops or women with dental work that is long over due. Ladies, well I can sometimes be found here when my alcoholic friends are dragging my from seedy bar to seedy bar. So if yer lucky we may just meet sometime. Like any bar, ladies, you will be mugged and groped by several men who are older than your father and haven't realized that Viagra is certainly necessary but may give them a heart attack or stroke. I've never seen a single girl in this place under the age of 40. So if yer a male cougar cub, bless you my son. Make an older woman happy and go knock the cobwebs off those rafters. They have karaoke on Saturday nights, but so does almost everywhere else. It is however located next door to a domino's pizza and they will bring your order over for you. The bartenders are usually friendly and pour heavy. So go knock yourself out and cough up a lung tonight.

This place is horrid and completely illogical. The "owner" personally questioned myself and the group I was with about our ages; when we showed him our Official CA licenses and after he accused us of having fake IDs, he asked one of us what our horoscope sign was, being that we aren't superstitious, we didn't know. So we were kicked out. Mortal of the story, don't waste your time with this trashy bar.

A fun little dive bar... no dress code (we wore jeans and tee shirts)! We went for a friend's birthday party... it was a blast! The "locals", or "regulars", were great! The bartender even gave us a free round for getting on the karoke stage for the first time! There was plenty of seating avaiable and a pretty good song selection. The bartendered was awesome... fast and freindly!! The crowd was a little on the older side (about 40-60), but a ton of fun!! A couple of younger groups came in here and there, so that added a little to the mix. OMG... the bathrooms (at least the ladies room) was awesome! Clean, smelled good, spacious, stocked, recently remodeled... it was a nice surprise! We'll be back!!

Ever find yourself in the Arden-Arcade area and looking for a cheap drink?. Stop on in and say hi to Cherry. She keeps this bar fun and the regulars in check. Karaoke on the weekends, Domino's open late next door. Yes, it's the kind of bar you can bring outside food into. You can smoke in here, or not. Either way, you're going to smell like smoke when you leave.

Slow night or busy, this place is hoppin'. Monica and crew pour good drinks and tell great stories, and the regulars are what makes this place *the* place the be any night.

BEST DIVE BAR AROUND!!! Ya it's a little smokey, but you can't beat free shuffle board and karaoke!!! The decor is all original and the service is great...Cherry is the best in town. It's a great place to go with a group of friends when you want to dress down and get your drank on!!!

Jason makes the BEST BLOODY MARY'S I have ever had! Amazing! I will return for the bloody mary's for sure. As a smoker I like being able to smoke while I drink HOWEVER I hate smelling like cigarettes. So no 5 star rating for me. :( Great dive bar!

Divey, smoky, and absolutely a good time. The crowd is rather elderly and they are a drinking kind of bunch. perfect for a hair of the dog kind of day. Everyone is always respectful and the bartenders are attentive.

The bartenders at this place are awesome. Especially Monica and Mike. Here at the Pied piper everyone is welcome and we always have a good time here!

I love this place. I'm a local and I come here for the indoor smoking, the shuffleboard (great way to enter the local scene) and the amazing drinks and karaoke. Come out on Friday through Monday night for a good reasonably priced time. The bartender Monica is awesome. A definite reason I come back again and again.

If it were not for the extremely rude and unprofessional "bartender" I would give this bar a much higher review (probably 4 stars). I came into the Pied Piper on a Saturday night with some friends. Walking into the bar, it was a flashback to the 90's. It was fairly muggy inside the bar...no fresh air anywhere. I think 99% of the patrons were chain smoking and were 45-50+ years old but all of the customers that I engaged with were happy, friendly and very quick to offer a smile or a kind word! There is a shuffleboard and darts...no pool table. I'm not sure if the a/c was working, broken or just not being used. Either way, the management should fix it or use it! I think it would have been a fun night and that we probably would have returned again if it wasn't for the bartender! Her name was MONICA and she was as nasty as can be....no smile or "hello" came from her mouth to any of us. She was yelling at a group of people who were sitting at a table across from the bar in between the alcohol shots she was drinking! All but one of us was drinking beer so I can't say if she could make a decent drink or not since the drink was a single shot. We were there for about an hour and met several of the "regulars" and they all were nice and friendly. It took the bartender several minutes to "notice" that I was standing at the bar trying to get another beer because she was busy defending her actions to another customer who did not appear to agree with her. She simply looked and behaved like an angry middle aged woman.... I don't know about others, but I certainly don't want to experience anything like that when all I wanted to do was have fun, relax and have some drinks with my friends! Thanks for the buzz kill MONICA! We surely will not be back on your watch!

Unfortunately we no longer frequent this establishment. It's just not safe to go there at night.

This place is awesome. The place for a working stiff to blow off steam in a grown up atmosphere. We need more places like this. The kareoke rocks.

Nice little dive bar, the bartender (a young guy, I don't know his name) is awesome and always attentive, even when they're busy. Karaoke on the weekends, electronic dart machines, and shuffleboard! Smoking is allowed inside the bar, and its never been too crowded when I've been there on the weekends. The crowd here is usually pretty mellow, love this place. If you like little divey bars, the Pied Piper is your place.

Why is smoking allowed ? Its suppose to be illegal to smoke in bars, was there fot a memorial service for my uncle and no one in our large group smokes and yet we were subjected to it. I couldnt wait to get out of there so i could breathe. I coughed for several days afterwards .maybe that is one of the reasons my uncle died was because he hung out in there for many yrs and all that second hand smoke. A bunch of bums in there too. Will never step foot in there again and im positive our family wont either. The state ABC needs to deal with this place and move the smoking to outside only.

Adore this joint! But...I was there on June 17th and overheard that all the "Hiphop" was deleted from the Jukebox. Ill look on my next visit. Why would management do that unless they didn't want a certain clientele there? Suspicious

Ive been going to the pied piper about ten years. Alot has changed bartenders trends but what can i say i love this bar. Great atmophere karaoke with patrick thur fri sat. People are friendly darts shuffle board. Cherry jason are so cool! Its like cheers where everybody knows your name:) its like family and i will keep going till they close shop. Number 1 bar.

This place feels like home. A nice quiet bar for a daytime drink. Bartender pours generous. lots of fun will return !!
