Nice restaurant. Overall the food is are good and with good price. Most people ordered the steak. The steak is nice except the fries. The fries are not fresh. Sitting at second floor is a good idea as the window is opened and with better ventilation. Also, quiet. You can enjoy your meal there.

Google
Ive been to Pierre Victoire a few times and the food and service is always incredible. Would recommend this place to anyone, even if it’s something you wouldn’t usually like the way they cook food here is unreal! You must get the moules when coming here they are my favourite dish ever !

Google
I came here last week for Dinner and had a wonderful experience. I had the 2 course meal option with Tartiflette for main and Cheese Cake for dessert. The main was dense and full of flavour, so rich and cheesy. I only wish there was more! As someone who is learning to appreciate Salad more, the Tomato and Shallot was a nice companion to the Tartiflette. Same for the dessert. It was fresh and tasty. It was gone before I could pour more cream onto it. The atmosphere was delightful with larger parties sat around us and the decor was pleasant. I would highly recommend a visit if you have not, well worth it.

Google
Lovely little French restaurant, it’s £36.50 for a 3 course meal and the portions are generous. I’ve never fully completed a meal and this is my second time back here. I recommend the mussels they are a huge portion and very tasty!

Google
We arrived right on time at 12:00 noon, and the restaurant was completely full within 45 minutes. We ordered one two-course and one three-course lunch set. For the starters, we had calamari and French onion soup. The calamari was tender, and the soup was well-seasoned and perfectly balanced with the crispy bread. For the main courses, we had slow-braised duck leg and fresh mussels. As the menu stated, the mussels were incredibly fresh and creamy. They really whetted our appetites, and we couldn’t stop eating! The duck leg was tender and flavorful. The most amazing part was the rösti underneath, which absorbed the orange sauce and made the dish even more incredible. The chocolate mousse was the perfect ending to our lunch. The staff are polite and efficient. An excellent experience for our Oxford trip! Thank you!

Google
My husband and I absolutely loved every bit of our meal! He had the ribeye steak and I had the duck. We both had the chocolate fondue. We raved about it for days afterward. The service was also great! ambience was charming. Such a great find! Can’t wait to come to Oxford again literally so we can eat here again! Loved it.

Finally I was able to book a table and enjoyed a wonderful brunch with my bestie. And I just realized that online booking access is open on their instagram page!! Truly, highly recommend it to y’all. Their chicken liver is very tasty, like melting in the mouth. Love it!

Google
We celebrated our anniversary at Pierre Victoire and couldn’t have asked for a more delightful evening. From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely lovely—attentive without being overbearing, and clearly passionate about what they do. The food was absolutely delicious—elegantly presented, perfectly seasoned, and bursting with flavour. Every course felt like a little celebration in itself. The setting was cosy and intimate, with just the right balance of relaxed and special. We left feeling so well looked after and utterly content. It’s rare to find a place that gets hospitality, atmosphere, and food just right—but Pierre Victoire absolutely does. We’ll definitely be back!

Yelp
High-quality food that's affordable, with nice ambiance. They have a dinner deal, 29 pounds for a starter and main dish. I got the salmon tartare and duck. The salmon tartare was a great starter, with fresh ingredients. It was well-seasoned, and not too heavy. The duck was quite rich and the portion size was massive.

Yelp
Got there to Sunday lunch, food was great real value for money. However service was exeptionally rude, unattending and unfriendly.
google avatar

Yelp
Lovely little place hidden in Little Clarendon Street serving French food. The food was just amazing, if expensive! There is a cheat opportunity- lunch menu is much cheaper, however, as it says, it's lunch menu, therefore you have to come earlier. There is also pre-theatre menu option that allows you to save pennies. I would recommend to book - we have been on a school night and the place was full.

Yelp
I was visiting a friend in Oxford when I started debating whether to eat in Oxford or central London. I found this family run French gem tucked away in a cute little alley. The food was excellent and the service was prompt. The prices were very reasonable. I tried the soup of the day and the sea bass special of the day. Both were very good.

Yelp
Prompt service ...great atmosphere.. very french.. very good food at very good price.. really buzzy but not too loud.. good wine.. fabulous pork cassoulet ...the opposite were so good ...the crispy pork skin (crackling) and the delicious soft lentil wine sauce .. . and great lemon sorbet for desert... !! what more could you ask for!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Yummy yum yum!! The food here was absolutely delicious! I order the salmon rillette which was amazing like omg mouth watering amazing. I wish I had gotten the large order and skipped out on the pork belly as the main entree. The pork belly was also delicious. Tender and flavorful and delicate all at the same time. I was not a fan of the sauce but omg I would have gladly had a heart attack for that delicious crackling. It wa Amy last meal in Oxford and it will not be forgotten!!

Yelp
I had lunch here a few days ago, and I was extremely happy with what I got! I went with fried Camembert as a starter and butternut squash risotto and it was fantastic! Especially, because the price is more than fair compared to what you might pay at other places in oxford!

Yelp
The taste here is really worthwhile, the taste is very authentic, the French is very authentic, I really like it.

Yelp
Excellent small restaurant! We came the day after valentines day and the lunchtime menu was very affordable, excellent quality food and a very good authentic atmosphere! The waiters are French and very attentive and friendly, which definitely created a welcoming environment and breaks the stereotype of an arrogant french waiter most people would have experienced on holiday. I will definitely be back and I recommend this place to friends!

Yelp
Best restaurant in oxford. Call for reservation if you can. Had lunch and dinner. Helped with gluten free needs. Even had g-f bread for me. Sea trout was a dream -risotto was creamy delight Had an appetizer so couldn't make it to dessert. Small wine list but good. Delightful service no matter how busy

Yelp
Whether you're a foreigner finding the pound exchange rate quite pricey or properly living here you'd be missing out if you skipped on the lunch specials at Pierre Victoire. For about 6 pounds I had a fantastic crab risotto for lunch in a lovely sunny French cafe setting. Service was lovely if a bit slow (well, three of us ordered some type of risotto, after all). The place wasn't too crowded or too empty on a Thursday at lunchtime. Would I return? Mais oui, cherie, just tell me when!

Yelp
Great lunch deals here. Duck confit for 5.90 pounds? I'll take it A nice waiter ushered us in, but the waitress who ended up taking our orders and clearing our plates was your classic stereotype of a rude french b****. She was extremely impolite (she nearly shouted at us to stop our conversation and move so she could clear our plates...wtf???). If I could give her negative tips, I would.

Yelp
Quite a nice French place on Little Clarendon Street. Food is good, it's no Le Manoir, but i've always ate well. The website is currently under construction, but i can tell you that the menu is extensive without being OTT. Yelp
Great independent (according to their website, they are NOT a chain) French restaurant with a reasonably priced menu. The staff is very friendly but a little slow. The classic French menu is done well. We especially enjoyed the Dark Chocolate Fondant. Prices are reasonable for what you get. A positive experience overall. Will visit again!

Yelp
Wow. I didn't realize Pierre Victoire was a chain until I read the other reviews. Either I'm a rube, or it's especially good. Maybe both. I usually avoid chains, but the food here is excellent. Simple French food prepared well in a simple, almost rustic, environment. I was, however, disappointed when I visited in December and found that they were only serving their uninspired British-style Christmas menu, which did not appeal. So it's a great choice eleven months of the year.

Dom C.

Yelp
Nice little find as a friend of mine had visited before and recommended it to me. I like this restaurant and against popular views it IS independent. Lovely food and not that expensive (especially for Oxford). Waiters/Waitresses were a bit slow and the tables a bit unsteady and unclean. Also, it can get very loud during peak times and especially lots of small children shouting. All in all - i would definitely come again and would recommend to anyone on a quick break to Oxford. Lovely French cuisine. April 2014 - group of 2

Yelp
Thank you other Yelpers for your reviews of this bistro. We were on a coach trip today to Oxford to see a matinee play and I booked a table at this restaurant which was easy to find. A little bit of France in the centre of Oxford and I wish I lived nearer so I could return often. It had a delightful relaxing atmosphere, a rustic feel with wooden tables and very friendly efficient French staff. There are two floors, although we didn't see upstairs. The ground floor felt intimate and quiet music was playing. It was a fixed price menu and the bill was approx £37 only. My friend had a delicious warm duck salad as a starter, and her main course was pork loin with a rich lentil sauce and a side of chips which she also said was very good. I had the fish dish of the day which was cooked in a tasty creamy sauce and comprised mussels, prawns, salmon, cod, calamari etc served with new potatoes - lovely. For desert I had crêpe of the day which was filled with banana and accompanied by a chocolate sauce, piping hot, and very moreish! We both had a glass of red and, although the restaurant had become very busy by the time we had finished our meal, we did not feel we had to leave. Incidentally a lady in a wheelchair was arriving as we left and there is a portable ramp to gain access into the restaurant.

Yelp
The food here is always great and also not too expensive. Service and atmosphere are authentically French too! Love PV.

Yelp
One of my favourite restaurants. Always busy and for a good reason too. The food is fantastic and reasonably priced. They deal really with groups too. They serve beautiful duck dishes and their fillet steak is always perfect. Staff is always pleasant and smiley which makes the evening that much more enjoyable.

Yelp
This is one of my favourites in Oxford, a real little gem on one of Oxford's nicest streets, Little Clarendon Street. Excellent food, everything here is spot on. I've been a few times with different groups of people and none of them have had a bad word to say. I love the starters here, all just enough for a taste of something special without being too filling or stodgy. The main courses are always very subtle and full of flavour without being overbearing. I like their chicken dishes in particular and I'm told they do good Moules too. A fantastic wine list, I've had a few bottles from here and they've all been excellent - clearly carefully chosen to match the food. The service is excellent (although last time I was there it did take some time to get the bill, obviously they were hoping we'd have another drink!). The atmosphere is excellent too, good for dates, family meals and a night out with friends.

Yelp
C'est magnifique! All around fantastic restaurant - atmosphere, service and prices are all excellent. And most of all, the food was delicious

Yelp
Great French restaurant in the Oxford area. Serves a la carte option, or a fixed price three course meal for 25 quid with limited options (excluding some of the lamb or steak dishes). Delicious food, very quick service, and amiable wait staff. Would recommend the house red wine. Overall great meal and cool ambiance!

Dan H.

Yelp
I took my wife, daughter, and in-laws here for a dinner while on vacation. The staff was very friendly, and even though the place was quite busy (it was graduation weekend), the wait staff was attentive and patient. The food was tasty and reasonably priced. I enoyed the Tartiflette aux Champignons. We also shared the Fondue Savoyarde, and every last bit of that was consumed. We were a party of five, so it was probably good that we called over to reserve a table. The staff were expecting us when we arrived. The entire family had good things to say about our meal. Considering it was one of the least expensive dinners we had on our entire England vacation, and considering how picky my family is (isn't everyone's?), that's high praise.

Yelp
I was here for one evening while visiting Oxford and after numerous attempts browsing menus from a couple of restaurants around the area, I decided to go to this french restaurant for dinner. It was very typical french, were the host/waiter were full of themselves...rude, curt, etc....I did not care much and ordered the food since I wanted to eat french food...and avoid thinking about the annoying host, etc. I started off with the mozzarella/tomato appetizer which was excellent! Followed it up with Salmon and for dessert ended up getting the chocolate cake with pistachio ice. Overall...food was good, atmosphere was good...but owner/staff...not so good.

Yelp
Excellent food. Not that expensive. It seems it gets full very quickly. Service is courteous. Will come back again while I am here.

Yelp
Pierre Victoire is surprisingly good for a chain restaurant and doesn't have the air of a generic corporation about it. The staff seem genuinely French and are polite, although they seated us next to the till despite there being lots of other seats. The paintings on the wall are full of obscure French words and entertaining images of food, which is tasteful and thought-provoking, and the atmosphere is nice, with a good rumble of conversation, but not excessive amounts of noise. The food is good and quite filling, and although not the cheapest, it is enjoyable. Try not to fill up on bread at the start! It's not entirely traditionally French, but it tries, and it's well-cooked. And when you've finished eating you can walk down the fairy-light lit Little Clarendon Street and feel warm and fuzzy.

Yelp
Great cheap 3 course lunch in the week and food is good and consistant for the last 10 years.

Yelp
My husband took me here for our wedding anniversary and it was amazing. The ambience is so warm and welcoming when we sat down. Everything we ate was delicious. We had French onion soup, duck a l'orange, Filet Mignon, and tarte tatin. The wine was delicious as well (Cote de Rhone) and very reasonably priced. The service was great too. We found it appropriately priced and very affordable for the quality. Overall highly recommend!

Steven C.

Yelp
Ordered cheese Fondue. Decent amount of food for the price, but took 40 minutes to arrive. Mediocre wait staff and the fact that the cheese itself wasn't delicious made for a throughly average experience.

Yelp
I love Pierre Victoire - I'm always surprised how cheap it is, especially for lunch. I think it's part of a chain but you'd never know it. The friendly staff seem to be all French and the atmosphere is typical casual French bistro with rough wooden furniture and candles etc. The food is not fancy but always reliably good - the mussels always a good bet and their reasonably priced steak is hard to beat. It's always busy though - probably best to book.

Qype User (Dungee…)

Yelp
Une belle piece de France en Angleterre. Gerry and I popped in here for the first time this evening (we didn't want to queue for Edamame) and we were very impressed, especially as this is part of a chain! I think we got lucky getting in without a reservation - we saw the somewhat fearsome maitre d' turn down several less fortunate couples! As for the food, Gerry and I were both pretty impressed. Gerry started with the Asparagus, topped with parmesan, poached egg and hollandaise, and it was a really lovely dish (though I would have preferred it without the parmesan. I went for Moules Marinieres which was excellent, and the first time I've ever had fennel in a Mariniere, but it worked well. Mains-wise, G went traditional with the Duck a l'orange (excellent and the duck nice and pink) and I tried the Pork in Mustard which was equally good, sitting atop red cabbage and bacon. A bowl of frites went down well with both dishes! I think the only negatives for me were the slightly slow service (not in terms of the food, but in getting extra drinks and paying the bill etc), and as already mentioned the Maitre d', who is pretty fearsome and seemed quite abrupt, though not rude. Overall though, at £55 including drinks, coffee and service, this is a pretty good value place and certainly one we'd go to again - though perhaps we'll book next time!

Yelp
Fantastic restaurant. Consistently excellent food, cooked to a very high standard. Lovely atmosphere with very friendly staff and excellent service. Highly recommend it!

Yelp
In my opinion, this is one of the best restaurants in Oxford. The food is consistently excellent, varied, interesting, and delicious, and the prices are very reasonable indeed particularly if you get their lunch special deal. They bake their own delicious baguettes on the premises and have a well-stocked wine list. The place certainly feels very French with good décor and French staff, and the upstairs section is particularly cosy. I can't think of many better places to eat in Oxford, and its location on Little Clarendon Street is handy for St Giles and Jericho. Great place very highly recommended.

Yelp
Lovely ambience, all white and blue, you'll think you're in a Riviera town. I had the Tagine, which comes in a lovely pot and is a great vegetarian dish. Service was good. It's a nice central oasis for some good French fare. Try to go at a quiet time as the rooms are not very big and can feel crowded.

Yelp
Decent food, evening ruined because a hen party came in and sat near us- It a reasonable expectation that when you book a table for 6:30 you should be able to enjoy your meal and engage in a quiet conversation with others in your party - Sadly at the Pierre Victoire this doesn't seem to be the case. We have had this booking at the restaurant for a couple of months and we confident that we could have an enjoyable celebratory dinner not so - unlike a more fortunate party who had arrived after the cast of TV reality show wannebees , who were able to cancel their booking and go off elsewhere - we had already ordered. Instead of being able to sit down and enjoy a leisurely meal with a couple of bottles of wine, sweets and coffees we rushed our main course and exited as soon as we could, and when I questioned the manager suggesting that as our evening was ruined we should get some kind of discount - I was greeted with the universal gesture which one associates with romance and travel. On the other hand if you are planning a hen party and are frustrated that no decent Oxford restaurant will accept your custom, why not book here, the staff will happily supply you with endless bottles of their cheap pinot grigiot, and smile benignly at your raucous yelps and other animal noises

Qype User (posses…)

Yelp
Pros: authentic French-bistro atmosphere Cons: - food isn't actually that brilliant - the authentically French, brusque and unhelpful manager Conclusion: A small pleasant restaurant trading on (and charging for) its French-bistro-theme rather than the quality of its food. Brasserie Blanc on Walton Street is a significantly better bet

Qype User (Isling…)

Yelp
Used to go here when I was a student, and on a recent visit found that the place is as good value as it was nearly a decade ago! We stopped by on a Saturday night without a booking so were seated upstairs at the unfortunate table where one diner must share his place with a fire extinguisher (it's right next to the chair). We had to give up the table in an hour, so service was very brisk and no-nonsense. Efficient, though. Food was as it ever was - reliable and good for the money you pay. Now a Londoner I smiled at the pricing, which wasn't much different to what they were years ago - a good meal for under 20 quid! I had the moules which was delicious and the partner had a duck dish which was ok, not blow-your-mind good but nice enough. I like Pierre Victoire and nostalgia is admittedly part of it. It's not dazzling, but it feels so warm and cosy and you can't go wrong here.

Ann S.

Yelp
BEWARE OF THIS PLACE! they will lead you to believe their Prix fixe menu includes everything without a single disclosure on neither the menu nor from the waiting staff. Then will attempt to bill you. Very disappointed- food was decent but not so good as to justify being subjected to such deceptive practices. The owner should be ashamed. Avoid this place
google avatar

Natalie W.

Yelp
Great little Place, We always go to Pierre Victoires for a steak fix. I've heard the rest of the menu is wonderful as well! It sits just outside Jericho so perfectly placed for an evening out. It does get very busy at the weekend so I would always book a table!

Yelp
Delicious French food and not too pricey.

Qype User (svente…)

Yelp
Had lunch here today and suddenly realised I have been coming here for over 10 years and I have yet to eat a disappointing dish. The food is always fresh and always with a slight twist on classic french country food. No airs, no graces just an amiable atmosphere with friendly long serving staff. Not some profit conscious portion control, straight from the freezer national chain, a proper family run independent restaurant cooking from fresh. More power to your baguette.

Qype User (jkr…)

Yelp
Beautiful french food in an authentic French atmosphere. Lovely staff.

Yelp
A wonderfully quaint and charming restaurant. Good food with a lovely atmosphere. They do a good lunch deal.
