Pierrot Café & Restaurant

A stylish and attentive restaurant right in the heart of Old Town — the live music inside creates a really nice vibe, and the service was quick and friendly, which we appreciated a lot. The staff were great and deserve a big thank you! That said, the food was a bit disappointing for me. The goose meat was quite tough and hard to chew (I finished it because I was hungry, but it wasn’t enjoyable), and the dessert tasted pretty ordinary and nothing special. Maybe other dishes on the menu would have been better. Overall, the atmosphere and service shine, but the food could use some improvement

A 15% service charge is automatically added to the bill. We therefore did not leave an additional tip. The staff member seemed displeased, gave only a brief “Enjoy,” and did not bring back our coats. The food and wine were very good, which makes the experience somewhat disappointing.

The waiter serving us was very, very serious about the quality of the meal and it was very good food indeed. I had the Chicken Paprikash which is pictured and my wife had the goulash soup which she enjoyed. The craft beers are worth trying. It was the best beer I had in Budapest. We thought the bill was good value for the quality and they told us clearly that there was a service rather than hiding it as some restaurants do when dealing with tourists. I recommend it.

The service was impeccable – attentive, friendly, and genuinely caring without ever being intrusive. The food was absolutely outstanding. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavour, blending traditional Hungarian influences with a refined, modern touch. The ingredients were clearly top quality, and each course felt thoughtfully crafted. We especially loved the seasonal specials and the wine pairing suggestions, which complemented the meal perfectly. Pierrot is the kind of place that makes a special evening truly memorable. Whether you’re visiting Budapest for the first time or looking for a refined local dining experience, this restaurant is a must. We will definitely be back!

An absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. The staff were incredibly polite, welcoming, and attentive, which made us feel comfortable right away. The music and atmosphere were perfect relaxing yet lively and created such a great vibe. On top of that, the food was flawless, full of flavor and beautifully presented. Everything came together perfectly. I can’t wait to come back!

Very nice hole in the wall that should be visited if you are in the castle district, offering up tasteful Italian/Hungarian dishes with great selection of wine. Beautiful setting that had live piano music at the time and nice outdoor seating away from the street. Our waiters Gellért and Levi also went above and beyond to make our dining experience memorable.

A must visit if you’re in Budapest! Absolutely beautiful place with live music and a warm, Romantic ambiance along with simply great food and drinks. If you have the opportunity, ask for service from waiter Henrik and your dining experience will be unforgettable!

This was by far the nicest restaurant we went to during our short stay in Budapest. A hidden gem. My partner who had tried goulash at 2 other restaurants said their Goulash at Pierrot was a cut above the rest. We decided to go here on our last night as we knew it was a pricier restaurant than some of the others we visited. However it was worth it - however you get what you pay for three fold. There is a three course set menu offered also. Pierrot was the only restaurant where I had a desert and their creme brûlée was divine. Situated by Buda castle it’s easy to get to by bus. The restaurant walls have pictures of stars who have eaten there and we had fun trying to guess their names. The resident pianist set the mood also. Loved their sugar free raspberry lemonade also (note it’s raspberry and rosemary but I asked for fresh mint instead). Service and attention to detail was excellent and the toilets were clean. Suggest you book.
