Stunning restaurant that is a welcome reprieve from tourist traps and stuffy white tablecloths. If you’re craving natural wine, inventive and delicious food that isn’t pretentious, and a relaxed atmosphere, Pietra Rossa is for you. We had the asparagus, ravioli, riz e bis, guinea fowl, and ricotta dessert, and everything was divine. Wine pairings were also exceptional, and service was 11/10. An underrated gem.

We had the three course set menu plus a dessert. The restaurant had no difficulty accommodating my wife who is celiac (gluten free) and pregnant. The dishes were fantastic. It was a fair distance from the more touristy areas but everything is close enough and within walking distance in Venice. A really cozy restaurant which we would recommend to anyone (including anyone who is gluten free).

Beautiful food. We ordered a bunch of simple, elegant modern takes on classic Italian and Venetian classics, with plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. Sat outside, and the decor is modern and idiosyncratic, with a lovely outdoor patio. Most importantly, Andrea and his staff are incredibly hospitable; it was fantastic service from the moment we walked through the door, and I really enjoyed chatting with them. Order a coffee before you leave, and try the excellent biscotti, which is made by Andrea’s mother! Highly recommend.

one of Venezia’s hidden gems & a restaurant in which I’ve returned to many times with friends, lovers, & co-workers & have been pleasantly satisfied each time again ❤️ cosy & intimate, tucked away from the busy tourist pathways, they work with local purveyors to bring the most beautiful, thoughtful dishes to the table! i always get the “Fa’Ti menu” which is a 3-course “surprise” menu chosen for you by the restaurant, there is also a natural wine pairing to go along with it ❤️ Pietra Rossa never disappoints, a special dining experience! graziemille Andrea, Sandra & the whole team for the great service, your passion & dedication. I hope to visit again soon ❤️ would recco making a reservation on their website, especially during the busier months. photos are from my multiple visits over the past year ❤️

What a wonderful place! I booked online for our first night in Venice having read some great reviews despite being a newly opened restaurant. We let them chose the food for us and paid €49 each for 4 surprise courses, all of which were amazing. We also chose the wine pairing option, and the wines were matched perfectly to the courses. This was a great option as we got to try things that we probably wouldn’t have picked for ourselves, and certainly felt like a more authentic Venetian experience. Sat outside in the courtyard with fairy lights strung across the top, it was so pretty. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. We loved the first night so much that we booked again, for our wedding anniversary meal. I accidentally booked their social table, which meant that we sat with two Italian couples on a group table facing the kitchen. My husband and I are both pretty introverted so my initial reaction was one of apprehension, however that quickly melted away as the other couples made us feel welcome and showed us the famous Italian generosity! This time we chose from the a La carte menu and it was again a wonderful meal. The open ravioli might be the best thing I’ve ever eaten! We felt that the prices were reasonable for what we ate and drank, and would expect to pay more for this quality back in our hometown of Oxford.

We had a wonderful experience. They make excellent italian food that is both based on tradition and has the right amount of new, fun elements. It's a lovely courtyard. They locally source all their ingredients. Definitely two notches above the typical restaurant for tourists that you find in Venice

Nestled in the heart of Venice, Pietra Rossa is an exquisite culinary haven. The experience here is nothing short of delightful. Upon arrival, guests are welcomed with a complimentary glass of Prosecco—a charming touch that sets the tone for a special evening. The staff, warm and enthusiastic, make you feel immediately at home, and their wine knowledge is impressive; they don’t just recommend wines, they guide you through the story and character of each, making dinner a mini wine education. The meal began with two exquisite bòcons (bites). The bòcon of raw langoustine with porcini mushrooms was a delightful surf-and-turf, combining the sweet, delicate langoustine with earthy porcini and a hint of savory pork. The second, a bòcon of light beef tartare with poached oyster, smoked buffalo ricotta “snow,” and sweet-sour seasonal vegetables with leeks, showcased inventive pairings that were both surprising and harmonious. For a lighter course, the fresh borlotti bean salad with lentils, chickpeas, marinated red onion, and parsley sauce offered a refreshing option that was both hearty and vibrant, with a tangy bite from the marinated onions. The spaghetti pasta by Mozzo featured a beautifully balanced lemony sauce with a hint of saltiness, topped with fresh red tuna tartare. A balance of delicate flavors creates a bright, lively pasta course. The Busara of langoustines sauce with langoustine and Mangaliza lard pork was a standout. The rich, flavorful sauce paired with the sweet langoustine and fatty Mangaliza pork created a unique dish that felt luxurious and satisfying. Another impressive option was the pork chop from Maso, grilled on a Kamado grill and served with chard, turnip, potatoes, and a touch of mustard. The Kamado grilling technique brought out the natural flavors of the pork, leaving it juicy and perfectly cooked. For dessert, Pietra Rossa brings creative twists to classic flavors. The spiced carrot cake with tomato jam was a delightful surprise, with warm spices and a touch of sweetness from the jam. The sorbet of persimmon with chestnut honey, millet-rosemary crumble, caramelized pine nuts, and molasses was both refreshing and indulgent, a fitting end to a beautifully balanced meal. As a final gesture, the meal is wrapped with a plate of delightful cookies, a sweet send-off that adds to the overall experience. The atmosphere at Pietra Rossa is joyfully unique, with cute heart stickers around the space, adding a lighthearted touch. With its friendly, knowledgeable staff, vibrant vibe, and expertly crafted dishes, Pietra Rossa isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a must-visit experience in Venice, leaving you warmly welcomed, and eager to return.

This was my absolute FAVORITE dining experience of our 12 day Italian honeymoon! Andrea and his staff are sweet, knowledgeable, patient, and friendly! The location is such a hidden gem. And the FOOD, oh my lord it’s heavenly. Definitely try the suprise menu AND add the wine pairing with it! The tastes are sensational and you are educated about each dish and wine. We loved! Our only complaint might be that the portions were a little small. It was all fantastic though! I still dream about the lingcod tartare with olive oil and pistachios. 🤤
