We booked Pieve Di Caminino for two weeks for July/August as a base in Tuscany and are so glad we did. A rustic authentic, historic farmhouse apartment with incredible views. A very welcoming arrival with nice wine from the family's own vineyard in this old church that houses the family's art collection. There are 7 apartments on the property and we stayed at Bifora that has a terrace with endless Tuscan countryside views. Location was perfect. Anywhere in Tuscany you need to drive as a starting point. We took in several hilltop towns as daytrips, vineyards but also the seaside because it is just half an hour away. I think this balance makes a longer stay best. You can do your beach days to relax and then again the exploration. Very kind and helpful owner Emi that made us feel so welcome. Self-catering stay here was wonderful. A kitchen to cook in when you felt like it. Supermarkets etc all close by. Don't forget to take walks on the grounds of olive trees. Nice tranquil swimming pool with views. Laundry service too. Thank you. Tarja and Yasar

So surreal and perfect, that my wife and I got married here a week ago. |EMI (owner) is an absolute legend, this property and the legend himself embody what Tuscany is. Could not recommend this place more. Its rustic and imperfection makes it perfect. The buildings and monastery is beautiful, well kept, and the history is amazing. This is a hidden gem in Italy, trust me, you won’t regret it.

We arrived in this beautiful, historic estate and were absolutely wowed from the onset. From that point on, everything went from excellent to even better at each subsequent step. The owners, Emiliano and Chiara, are sheer masters at the (almost lost) art of hospitality. The apartments are clean, super cozy and simply delightful - I mean, famed world personalities have slept there! The breakfast in the morning was unbelievable given the frame provided by the beauty of the location, the nature, the wide open surroundings and marvels of Southern Tuscany countryside. Emiliano always keeps the mood on the positive tone with his signature warmth and attentions. I sincerely doubt anyone to have a dull moment in a place like that with such a great guy as a host. We truly made wonderful memories in Caminino and a day and night to remember, no question. The walks and visits that are possible around the property and nearby areas also are something truly spectacular, which we enjoyed with great gusto. The former Church! Emiliano - an architect himself - converted what was previously a church, now no more consacrated, in the most clever and interesting living room with fireplace that I have ever seen. At departure, Emiliano went above and beyond by gifting me with an impressively well written art book about the life and works of his grandfather -famed '900 painter Romualdo Locatelli - that I had shown interest in during the stay and our conversations on art. Well, let me tell you that I loved that book as much as I loved staying at the property. Extremely highly recommended!

The hotel has very interesting historical and artistic features, has a large green area with olive trees, a swimming pool and parking. The reception from the owner, Mr Emi, was fantastic. we were welcomed with great wine and coffee, and received valuable suggestions on places to visit in Tuscany.

This is my first review using Trip Advisor. In fact, I almost never post reviews. The exceptional experience I have had at Pieve di Caminio compels me to make an exception.||||This is my second trip to Italy. Five years ago, my wife and I came here, and we considered this the highlight of a trip that was absolutely amazing. This year, we decided to return to Italy, this time taking my Mother who has never been to Italy. I had great expectation for this trip, and my expectations were exceeded.||||Everything about our seven day stay in Tuscany was beautiful. The home that Emiliano (Emy) has opened up to his guests is beautiful. Such a thrill to be staying in such a historical building that dates to about the time of the European discovery of America (Think Vikings of the 12th Century – if I have that time frame correct). The 500 hectare (1250 acre) estate/olive grove/wine grove/cork woods/wild estate only adds to the ambiance. The views from our room (La Bifora), are beautiful. Every morning my mother and I would take a walk on the estate, and this alone made our day.||||Every day we would see Emiliano and he would greet us and make sure all our needs were met. I am very curious about nature and history, so every time I saw him, I would pester him with questions on what we had seen or the history or the region. Although my questions were certainly not of the phd level, he was sincerely happy to share his knowledge with me.||||Emiliano recommended several sites and restaurants to us. Everything was a great experience. For culinary experiences, I cannot stress enough how good the gelato at the local town is, which is made from the milk of local cows (ask Emiliano for directions). In my opinion the town is not worth a detour, but the gelato is. My wife and mom are huge fans of gelato, and every town in Italy has great gelato. My wife and mom said this was the best gelato they have ever had, and I agreed. Even better is the local medieval hill top/castle town restaurant of Da Nada in Roccatederighi. The town itself is absolutely worth a visit – the views are spectacular. The restaurant is worth it just for the view, but the food was the best we had on our 14 day vacation. My only regret is that we waited until the last day of our stay in Italy to visit the restaurant. Many food options I wish I had tried.||||Before we visited Pieve di Caminio, we spent five days in Venice at the Hotel Danieli. I am not bragging, I could never afford this beautiful Venice Hotel on my income. We were only able to stay at this hotel in Venice because of the frequent hotel stays I have accumulated that are a result of my job. Why am I mentioning this? Two very different experiences. Both were dream stays. Pieve di Caminio is not the Hotel Danieli. The Hotel Danieli is like staying in a palace, which it is/was. The staff is great. We very much loved our stay at the Hotel Danieli and would absolutely recommend it to others. Pieve di Caminio, for what we want for our vacation, is even better.||||Maybe not the review I want to post – We want this place to ourselves.||||Thanks Emy!||||Eric Willey

We spent 9 days in this wonderful place and can only recommend it to anyone looking for the perfect Tuscany hide-away to relax and unwind. Very helpful and kind hosts, cozy apartments, and in great driving distance to the beach (30 min) and other various highlights in the beautiful Maremma. Thank you, Emy, for a wonderful stay! We hope to return one day.

My wife and I stayed at the Caminino for several nights in October as part of our honeymoon through Italy. It became apparent during our drive from Florence through this part of rural Tuscany that we were entering a unique place with immense beauty--and that was capped as we pulled through the gate at the Caminino and then entered our room in a building from the eleventh century where Emy already had a fire going for us. The Caminino, and the accommodations, are an historic gem and were immaculately restored, but with all modern comforts and necessities. The grounds are perfect for walks to enjoy and to see the Caminino's operational olive farm. Excellent wineries are abundant and accessible, as are many historic towns that are fun to explore and offer an array of dining options. ||||My wife and I recommend this place very highly and cherish our memories there.
