This is my first review using Trip Advisor. In fact, I almost never post reviews. The exceptional experience I have had at Pieve di Caminio compels me to make an exception.||||This is my second trip to Italy. Five years ago, my wife and I came here, and we considered this the highlight of a trip that was absolutely amazing. This year, we decided to return to Italy, this time taking my Mother who has never been to Italy. I had great expectation for this trip, and my expectations were exceeded.||||Everything about our seven day stay in Tuscany was beautiful. The home that Emiliano (Emy) has opened up to his guests is beautiful. Such a thrill to be staying in such a historical building that dates to about the time of the European discovery of America (Think Vikings of the 12th Century – if I have that time frame correct). The 500 hectare (1250 acre) estate/olive grove/wine grove/cork woods/wild estate only adds to the ambiance. The views from our room (La Bifora), are beautiful. Every morning my mother and I would take a walk on the estate, and this alone made our day.||||Every day we would see Emiliano and he would greet us and make sure all our needs were met. I am very curious about nature and history, so every time I saw him, I would pester him with questions on what we had seen or the history or the region. Although my questions were certainly not of the phd level, he was sincerely happy to share his knowledge with me.||||Emiliano recommended several sites and restaurants to us. Everything was a great experience. For culinary experiences, I cannot stress enough how good the gelato at the local town is, which is made from the milk of local cows (ask Emiliano for directions). In my opinion the town is not worth a detour, but the gelato is. My wife and mom are huge fans of gelato, and every town in Italy has great gelato. My wife and mom said this was the best gelato they have ever had, and I agreed. Even better is the local medieval hill top/castle town restaurant of Da Nada in Roccatederighi. The town itself is absolutely worth a visit – the views are spectacular. The restaurant is worth it just for the view, but the food was the best we had on our 14 day vacation. My only regret is that we waited until the last day of our stay in Italy to visit the restaurant. Many food options I wish I had tried.||||Before we visited Pieve di Caminio, we spent five days in Venice at the Hotel Danieli. I am not bragging, I could never afford this beautiful Venice Hotel on my income. We were only able to stay at this hotel in Venice because of the frequent hotel stays I have accumulated that are a result of my job. Why am I mentioning this? Two very different experiences. Both were dream stays. Pieve di Caminio is not the Hotel Danieli. The Hotel Danieli is like staying in a palace, which it is/was. The staff is great. We very much loved our stay at the Hotel Danieli and would absolutely recommend it to others. Pieve di Caminio, for what we want for our vacation, is even better.||||Maybe not the review I want to post – We want this place to ourselves.||||Thanks Emy!||||Eric Willey
