Great brunch this morning at Pig In A Jelly Jar. Place is small, but works efficiently. Order at the counter, then they will tell you where to sit and bring you your food and drinks. Food is fantastic and kids that work there are good at what they do. Eighteen percent gratuity is always added to the bill so no need to tip…unless it’s stellar and you want to give them a bonus amount!

We walked a bit to get here but it was so worth it. Service was friendly and helpful. Food was fast and hot. The pineapple smash was yummy and tart. The mix they use has black peppercorn but it tastes like cayenne to me. It was still something I would drink and make. Non-alcoholic options here are good. Buy a pair of socks and they donate socks.

Absolutely will be back. You order first at the counter and pay. Once a table is ready they will seat you and bring your order. You wait inside for them to call your name. Really good service. Ordered 4 dishes for $60 which is pretty good and portions were large. My favorite was the chicken and waffles!

A Salt Lake City breakfast staple. The service is always impeccable and the food is almost always on point. You can never go wrong with the chicken and waffles (which is what everyone kind of knows). I got the sausage gravy and biscuits which could have been a bit better. The biscuits were kind of hard and I wish there was just a bit more sausage in it but it was still good but definitely wouldn’t be my go to on the menu. Ordered an Orange Juice and received the LARGEST glass of orange juice I’ve ever seen in my entire life (delicious and definitely worth it). All of the employees are super kind. Jesus in specific was on his game when we went! Thanks :)

I came to eat breakfast here, and the food tastes so homemade. You just have to have patience because this place gets full, it’s a small place, and the wait time can be long. It’s worth the wait. Great customer service, and the place looks nice. The downside is that it's tough to find parking around here.

Google
Bright my friends to lunch at Pig & a Jelly Jar and had an enjoyable meal. Between the three of us we ordered the hash, pulled bbq pork sando, and the Nashville hot honey chicken. The hash & bbq pork sando were great! The hot honey sandwich was hot and not overly spicy, and the chicken was beautifully cooked. The fries were kind of lacking. Super friendly staff, quick service, and a good lunch. We did not leave disappointed.

Google
This is good, and the start of something great. Fun atmosphere, High use of technology. Tasty food. Was asked to wait 15 minutes to clear out the restaurant, which was a bit off putting. Everything must be ordered before you are offered a seat, which is different for a similarly set up dining place. The biscuits were a tad on the dry side. No sausage in the biscuits and gravy (maybe I should have specified, don’t know). The plates, utensils, serving ware was spotless, but there are a lot of high use items that need refreshing (games, tables, etc). Staff is super friendly and move at a moderate pace. Aside from the detailed critique above (every needs some honest feedback), it really is a good restaurant. Delicious and flavorful. High quality, just needs some refinement and a few rough edges smoothed out. This place rides along an edgy cultural ledge, but seems a bit rough in a few spots.

Google
When I get a hankering for chicken and waffles, pig, and a jelly jar is the place to go! I was sad to see the holiday. Location closed yet delighted the one on fourth E. and ninth south was real fast and ready for me this morning! I also tried the hot chocolate, which is very interesting and very good. I confess I got whipped cream on it, which I almost never do, and it was delish! Notice the tips included in their fees, so no need to leave an additional one.

Yelp
I Absolutely love Pig and a Jelly Jar. The people that work here are so sweet and I could talk to them all day. I love there waffles so much. Sweet and savory at the same time. Just a lovely homey place!

Yelp
I really liked this place for breakfast. Sunny on the inside; new twist on classics; quiet when i was there. Fun name good locale. Just not anything really catchy.

Yelp
Four of us eating together tried different items. First, the coffee seemed really good to all of us and it was nice to eat outside on their patio. Thank you for the patio. Plan to order from your phone or go to the register. Both ordering formats worked for us. The patio is a huge plus try it. As for the food we had fried chicken with waffles and that was good The waffle was good but the fried chicken was best. The breakfast sandwich, well, nah, move on down the menu. The bread was ugh, the egg was dried out. The biscuits and gravy, well, keep moving down the menu there too. Thenbiscuits are kind'a dry. Oh, the gravy is really good. I suggest getting the gravy in the side, an egg & ask then to toast the dried biscuit. That's the solution for me. Just a heads-up for you. and waffles was really good. A crunchy waffle with nicely cooked fried chicken worked well together.

Yelp
Dog friendly restaurant! We got the chicken and waffle and shared it between two people. The food is good, but I didn't think it was mind blowing. I did appreciate the chicken was moist and crispy. The dog friendly patio outside is covered, but it is right by the trash cans. We went on a breezy day and I would get a whiff of trash smell while I was eating. Not the most pleasant, but I understand this wasn't the restaurant's fault.

Yelp
Just a heads up, you must order your food first. The folks there are friendly and full of energy on a Sunday morning. The ambiance is very chill, with a hole in the wall vibe. I had the chicken and biscuits, I was not expecting it to be as a sandwich. I also had a side of sausage gravy. The biscuits were standard, it wasn't truly flaky and a bit on the dry side. The potatoes was slightly undercooked. Then the fried chicken was not seasoned at all. Also the gravy was a slightly sweet. So overall this dish was underwhelming. The waffles on the other hand was delicious. My other parties food seems to be good. They didn't say anything. So it could be up in the air. I'm not a big breakfast person, so I wouldn't come back. But that should not deter you from coming by!

Yelp
We had gone down to Salt Lake City but quickly got hungry and yelped for a brunch place. Thankfully Pig and a Jelly Jar was still open and we were able to join the waitlist via Yelp. By the time we parked, we only waited a few minutes before being able to go up to order. They have a variety of southern food options. From green eggs and ham to chicken and waffles as well as hash and sandwiches. I opted for Sausage and gravy biscuits with a Wasatch Brewery Ghost Rider. The serving was generous. I do wish the gravy had a bit more flavor to it but thankful that the biscuits were soft/fresh. I would love to come back and try out their beignets. Be aware that there is very limited seating. You order at the counter and then find a seat for them to come and drop off your order. There is also some outdoor seating although when I was there, it was a bit too chilly to be out there. ** Note: they add an automatic tip to your order. **
google avatar

Christy K.

Yelp
The outdoor patio is fantastic, especially when you have dogs. The service is great and you cannot go wrong with their specials. Five bucks for chicken and waffles? How can they afford that?
google avatar

Chelsea C.

Yelp
Fast and friendly service with helpful suggestions when it came to picking something on the menu and the food came out quickly. Overall the food was okay, it tasted good and they had quality ingredients. However, the dishes seemed like they didn't have identity. For example my boyfriend got the fried chicken with biscuits and gravy so he thought he was going to get fried chicken and biscuits with gravy however it came out as fried chicken on biscuit sliders topped with peppers (?) and a side of gravy. So he didn't get what he was expecting and the food didn't seem to know what it was trying to deliver whether it was comfort cooking or some kind of southern dish with fusion? I'm not sure. The food tasted good though. We would definitely give it a higher rating if there was more of a focus on the menu.

Yelp
Pig & a Jelly Jar offers an unbeatable Tuesday brunch deal with their delicious chicken and waffles at an affordable price. The charming atmosphere adds to the overall experience, making it a delightful spot for a midweek treat. A must-try for those seeking a tasty and budget-friendly brunch!"

Yelp
Ok, people may not agree with me. Don't get mad, but I feel like this place has too much hype. seating inside is limited. They do have outdoor seating which is nice. The girl taking our order was nice. I ordered the breakfast sandwich. We got seated. Got our drinks. My mom had to ask the waiter 2 times for water. He then seemed to have a little attitude which I was surprised. Anyways maybe he was having a bad day. Ok we got our food. Sandwich was ok... potatoes were good, but I've had a better breakfast Sandwich. The egg in the Sandwich was light and fluffy which was good. But I didn't like the bread. Wasn't toasted or warm.I ended up just removing the bread and eating the egg and bacon. The whole thing was meh. I think my sisters liked their food better then me. My sister liked her waffle she liked that it was light flavorful and also crispy, My other sister ordered the chicken and waffles and said chicken had no flavor the breading outside did but inside tasted bland. Waffle was good. Orange juice tasted really good. Freshly squeezed Coffee was either burnt or extremely strong.. I don't know. I am a coffee person and my first sip was like eek. Would I come back... maybe to taste their lunch menu. But honestly my friends hyped this place up to much IMO.

Yelp
This place was so cute and cozy. I tried the hot chicken sandwich and ham hash. The chicken was dry and overcooked. The fries were yummy that came with the chicken sandwich. The ham hash was delicious though! I got my eggs scrambled instead of over easy. The service was super fast and the employees were very friendly. There was an 18% hospitality charge which I was unaware of. I love that this restaurant pays their employees fair wages but I didn't want to tip on top of that charge. Just be aware that you will be charged this hospitality charge even if you get an order to go.
google avatar

Dylan C.

Yelp
Reports of pig and a jelly jar's decline have been greatly exaggerated. I was reticent going in since I've been hearing that this place just isn't the same. Luckily it was all nonsense. Service was fast, seating was easy to get, and the chicken and waffles really are still the best in salt lake. I also like that most of the place is surrounded by windows so you get plenty of light and can engage a bit with the neighborhood. Will return, they've still got it.
google avatar

Jerry C.

Yelp
Stppped in for lunch. I had those delicious biscuits and gravy with eggs. Was excellent Friendly staff and nice interior.
google avatar

Valerie W.

Yelp
We were able to be seated immediately when arriving to the restaurant. I ordered the chicken biscuit with potatoes and I loved my meal. It was flavored well, I loved the type of bread they used and the aioli gave it a tangyness that was delicious. Wish we had one where I live! Thanks for the great service. I also love the punk yet cozy feel of the inside of this building.

Yelp
Went to visit Utah for the July 4th weekend. Was looking for a brunch spot within SLC before heading to southern Utah and found this place on yelp. The vibe in the restaurant was nice and the service was great and did not have to wait too long to receive my food. I would say the food is good but not great. Pretty mid and basic to be exact and I've had worse. The one thing that threw me off was the 18% service charge that they add to your total. Overall this place isn't bad its just basic brunch if that's what your looking for.
google avatar

Deondre J.

Yelp
Small little dinner. Note: I'm an out of stater, but the food looked good via Yelp. The service is suitable for sure! It was a lovely day to sit outside. The food was OKAY. The chicken wasn't seasoned, but the waffle was good. Mimosas were only available after 11:30, but the dinner closes at 3 p.m., ugh. I definitely would go back to try for lunch. Still worth a try!
google avatar

Allan L.

Yelp
Cute little place with all the potential to be great. We had a party of 8 and their service was on point. They moved tables and chairs around and set our tables with water and utensils. Everything came as ordered but is still missing a little special something. Perhaps it is missing "taste", perhaps its missing finesse or is just off on our preferences. The famous chicken & waffles were just okay. Chicken was dried and missing taste but the waffles were great. Kitchen sink scramble was also just okay but the potatoes were great and crispy. All in just okay and we would not be back due to all other establishments to try.
google avatar

Chief S.

Yelp
Food: Had the chicken and waffles with breakfast potatoes. The waffle was very good. The chicken was ok, not crazy about the seasoning; could use some salt. The potatoes were cold. Service and ambiance was great.
google avatar

Allison G.

Yelp
The service was great here! Lots of non alcoholic beverages to choose from as well as regular cocktails. Featured a nice all-day breakfast menu as well as a few lunch options. Several people in our group tried the chicken and waffles and enjoyed them! Nice covered outdoor seating area that is dog friendly. Would recommend to anyone exploring the area!
google avatar

Skyler B.

Yelp
Nice little neighborhood location. It was different than I expected as you order and pay ahead of time and then sit down. Service was good. I had the chicken and waffles and it was delicious. Reasonable prices too. I would go again if nearby.
google avatar

Sydney R.

Yelp
Highly recommend getting Chicken & Waffles if you come here! It was a big portion and very tasty. The chicken was perfectly crispy and paired well with the sweet waffle. I added some hot sauce for a kick! Happened to end up here when all the nearby breakfast places had long waits. Happy to land here since breakfast ended up being so good, but was a bit bummed to see the limited menu and seating. They had lawn games outside which I thought was a cool idea!
google avatar

Brittany N.

Yelp
Ordering experience was weird and the vibe felt off. Food was okay, I've had much better. The outside patio furniture was hard and uninviting. The food did come out fast, my daughter liked her breakfast sandwich, but the biscuits and gravy were soup. Just ok.
google avatar

Omari D.

Yelp
Not a big place so I wouldn't recommend it for groups over 5. We waited about 20-30 mins for the 5 of us. Outdoor area has more space but wasn't staff. It was a family reunion spot for my cousin and I (some 20 years) so we spent the time catching up. When we finally got seated, they were out of some key items... no champagne for mimosa so we settled for the sparkling wine (not a good choice) & they were out of jams... That's pretty much saying no brunch. The staff was friendly and we only ordered the Kitchen Sink Scramble, the Ham Hash & Beignet donuts. Nothing super spectacular but still a good meal. Lots of other choices all around SLC... I'd come back but I'll ask before waiting if they have items available before committing.

Yelp
This place is always excellent. The pulled pork sandwich is excellent and just a little on the spicy side. Be prepared to eat it with a fork!!!
google avatar

Lilly K.

Yelp
the BEST chicken & waffles in utah (and i have tried just about everywhere)! I absolutely love coming here for a quick brunch. You pay before being seated and service is pretty fast. I love getting the blueberry lavender jam on the side (so sweet and refreshing) to dip my waffle in as well. The breakfast potatoes are also so well seasoned. I have been going here for years and still crave their great brunch food!
google avatar

Jennifer R.

Yelp
AMAZING food! Loved the location and that there is parking near by. I hate counter service where you pay ahead but the food was worth it.
google avatar

Allison N.

Yelp
This breakfast spot is so good! Have been here a few times over the years, ordering both dine-in and to-go and the portions are big and the food is really tasty. My favorite item on their menu is the kitchen sink, which is basically a big scramble. Huge portion of food and was very tasty. My husband ordered the ham hash and that was actually even better than what I ordered, so highly recommend. We came here most recently during the middle of a weekday, so wasn't quite as busy, but can definitely get pretty packed on the weekends.
google avatar

Jonas W.

Yelp
I want to like this place so much. The atmosphere is pretty much everything you want in a brunch place. And the little patio is fun and nice on a weekend morning. The wait staff is very attentive and really eager to take care of you. Which is the main reason I've come back. The menu looks awesome and has a lot of options but of all the times I've eaten here the food has left a lot to be desired. I have to dress it with salt, pepper, whatever I can find, to give it flavor. Maybe it's just me. People really love this place. I'll probably end up eating here again, hopefully the kitchen staff surprises me.
google avatar

Yelp
Biscuits and gravy were 10/10. Made this Texan very happy. Casual vibes and quick service.

Yelp
Second time at Pig & a Jelly Jar. Never did my review from the first time, but we're back and we enjoyed it again! We did a 1 mile walk and enjoyed the Kitchen Sink, Beignets & Waffles. It wasn't crowded and we sat inside this time. Food is ordered at the counter and brought to your seat quickly.
google avatar

Rachel C.

Yelp
I'm very sad to say that Pig and a Jelly jar has gone downhill for me. To be fair, Covid affected a lot of businesses especially restaurants for the worst. However I just can't justify a 5 star review after the last few experiences we had there. To start, I'm not sure if this is due to Covid and how businesses have changed their setup i.e. less contact for ordering, payments etc. But this is a little strange. You walk in and no longer is there a nice open seating area. There are very few tables inside and now there's a counter to walk up to order. This used to be a full service restaurant now it's like fast casual almost. The person at the counter seats you, and with a completely empty patio, she sat us right next to the only table out there. Our table was also extremely wobbly but you don't have a server, seems like just busboys (or "buspeople" to be more PC haha) and food runners, so we couldn't let anyone know about it. We ordered chicken and waffles which was always my favorite there and my husband got the Nashville hot chicken sandwich with fries. We also ordered beignets for dessert. Our food was delivered and took a really long time considering there were only us and another table whom had already received their food. On top of that everything was lukewarm at best. A cold, runny egg on top of a waffle isn't exactly appetizing. Both of our chicken was completely dry and just really disappointing. Not at all what I had remembered and loved about Pig and a Jelly jar. The Nashville hot chicken sandwich was not just underwhelming but strange. It tasted like it just had some chili sauce on it for heat which was pretty much non existent. Not what you'd expect for a "hot " chicken sandwich, and chili sauce is really not my thing, maybe if you like spicy ketchup on your sandwich, this is for you. They used to have great homemade fries, now they are frozen crinkle cut fries. To top it off, our beignets that we wanted for dessert, came out at the same time as our entrees, getting cold, while ironically our entrees were already cold. I would never call these "beignets". They were not light, fluffy pillowy sugary goodness like I had hoped, instead they were leaden dough that was more like an overworked, dense biscuit. Not fried, nothing redeeming whatsoever. It pains me to write such a harsh review, but I honestly could not in good conscience recommend this restaurant to anyone. There were no check backs and no refills on drinks, even our waters. We left disappointed and likely never to return again. I hope things change for the better for them because in their heyday I felt like they were a Salt Lake go to. Wishing the best for the future Pig and a Jelly Jar. Make Chicken and waffles great again!!
google avatar

Doug W.

Yelp
I used to live in the South so I go here to get biscuits and gravy, which are great, filling, and served on an oddly small plate. I love that they automatically add 18% gratuity (and clearly post this) so that they can pay their employees well. Very polite service.
google avatar

Jen N.

Yelp
Find a decent breakfast place is not an easy one in SLC. Food: we had Chicken and Waffle that's was okay. We lived south for a long time, so we have a different taste idea, but is was okay here. Service: what? Not sure what their service offering is. We found their concept a bit irritating. The hostess gave us a menu and when I wanted to order she as me if I am in the wait list. You order yourself, and then food and drinks are brought to the table you get assigned when ordering (once you made it on the secret waitlist). Again, not sure what they SErVIcE. Ambiance: causal searing, nothing really worth to mention.
google avatar

Tony A.

Yelp
The food was tasty, I would come with a lot of time to spare as it can take quite a bit to be seated. The tea place next door was really great too. Killed some time in there to avoid being in the cold. Parking is also a challenge so be cautioned if you go past 9: 00 AM.
google avatar

Ara B.

Yelp
We did not enjoy our visit. The manager said we could not sit down until we ordered! I was not feeling well so I sat down anyway as my man ordered our meals. Good was just ok. You can LEVEL UP YOU WELCOMING SPIRIT.
google avatar

Jason K.

Yelp
First try. Counter seating. Sunday brunch. Not a terrible wait (1:30p). Food was ... nothing special especially for $18+. Potatoes undercooked. Burger nothing special either; toppings and seasoning bland... will try other brunch options before coming back.
google avatar

Yolanda M.

Yelp
As soon as we landed in Salt Lake City, we went straight to Pig & a Jelly Jar. It was recommended by a friend, as well as it came up as a favorite in all of my research. It did not disappoint! The food was amazing and the service even better. They were friendly and suggested their favorites since we were not familiar with the menu. It's a pretty small place, but we were lucky that it wasn't super busy and were sat right away. Definitely recommend it if you're in Salt Lake City!
google avatar

Sidney S.

Yelp
Was not expecting such a small place. The place probably has 8 tables in total. You have to order at the counter. Our food came out before our drinks which was just waters +sodas and teas. So that was weird. I had the chicken and biscuits which was worse than Popeyes biscuits. I almost choked from how dry they were. The combination of the biscuit, chicken and mustard wasn't so bad but still overall dry. The potatoes were really seasoned and peppery. Kind of spicy. I also had a waffle which was pretty basic. Everyone at my table thought the food was nothing special. Overall, Mediocre at best. You can definitely skip out on this place while visiting in SLC.
google avatar

Jessica H.

Yelp
There is ONE dude working the entire dining room AND cash register and he is ROCKING IT. There was a line to the door when we got there and we really didn't have to wait that long. Also, the most recent review on here with the word gluten in it says they no longer have gf options and I'm here to tell you that's wrong. I brought my own gf bun and the waiter said they have their own! I was so pleasantly surprised! I do have to say they have some of the worst water I've ever tasted. Bring your own from home or buy a drink. I think they're using water from plastic containers that have been sitting for years I got the pig burger and it was fine. Ask for a side of aioli to add to it- much better when it was less dry. The fries were also just okay. I enjoyed my hot cocoa- it was very good for being dairy free! I tried some meat from my friend's pork sando and it was very good. Definitely get that instead of the burger. I was limited to sandwiches because I was using the female foodie card but the breakfasts looked and smelled really good!
google avatar

Hayley G.

Yelp
The food here is pretty good and unique. A cute little place to take family or friends who are visiting. I would recommend trying to get in early or you might have a long wait time. The service is pretty standard, nothing to boast about but I feel I always get my food in a timely manner.
google avatar

Bob C.

Yelp
Thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast outside with our pup. My eggs and hash were amazing and Lori's chicken and waffles were equally delicious. The restaurant was short staffed that day but you would never have noticed! Service was very personable! Btw, the fresh orange juice was well worth the extra cost! Thank you Brenna and Jacob!

Wynter M.

Yelp
The food was amazing! We sat outside and it was very nice, not a lot of seating. The service was great!
google avatar

Carolyn C.

Yelp
I first saw this place in a vlog and it looked really good so I wanted to check it out. We were told that the wait would be around 30 minutes but we only ended up waiting around 10 minutes. I ordered the Bacon Egg and Cheese Sando with Potatoes which I really enjoyed! I definitely missed having eggs due to the egg shortage in California, so I savored every bite of this sandwich. We also ordered the powdered doughnuts because we thought that they served beignets, but I guess that's a seasonal offering. I personally really enjoyed the powered doughnuts, and I hope that the next time I come back, they'll have beignets on the menu. Overall, I'd come back to this spot again. The service was great, the portion sizes were pretty large, and the restaurant felt small and cozy, especially because it was snowing outside.
google avatar

Rosaly S.

Yelp
My friends and I ordered 3 breakfast sandwiches, coffee and champagne. Breakfast sandwiches were really good! Just wish it had more bacon. We were lucky to sit outside, we loved all the details. Our food was brought out pretty quickly, and some of the staff were really kind!
google avatar

Ed S.

Yelp
Good food. Very small restaurant. Fun menu. Service was really good. My wife had the waffle with blueberry and strawberry. I had the hot chicken sandwich. I was hoping for more heat but the sandwich was delicious.
google avatar

Jane E.

Yelp
Wow! Compliments to the chef! The food was perfect. Every flavor was well balanced. The blueberry lavender jelly..... delish. I honestly can't compliment the food enough. The employees were top notch, professional and kind. I will definitely be coming back and bringing others and out of towners.

Yelp
It was our first time in Salt Lake City Utah, and we were looking for a breakfast place that was family friendly. We automatically knew it was a location that was worth a try because the waiting time was long. However, the food looked delicious and we were willing to wait. All of our dishes were to die for, but I remembered the beignets does where my favorite, they were just delicious and mouth watering. Everybody was really friendly however, it is a small place I do recommend you come ready to wait for your table.
google avatar

Yelp
Good coffee, small cute place. The food was just ok, if your looking for a quick breakfast, this would be a good place to stop.
