Pig Hill Inn

Had such a charming stay here back in August 2025. It had the exact quaint, cozy, small-town vibe I was hoping for from a romantic getaway. Chose the Enchantment room because of the jacuzzi tub, which was so luxurious. Delicious breakfast in the beautiful atrium was definitely a highlight. The location also can't be beat. Walkable to everything, including the train for those coming in from the city.

We have stayed at the Pig Hill Inn, having been seduced by the building’s beautiful exterior after a Breakneck Ridge hike, three times. This inn is an exceptional value, particularly compared to similar options in the Hudson Valley. I can see why some visitors are unhappy, because everyone has different expectations when it comes to a B&B experience: this is a vintage-y inn that has been lived in, not a trendy new renovation funded by a VC partner. But that’s part of what makes it special: things are not brand new, but they don’t need to be. There is charm and character and the overall inn feels cozy and a little nostalgic. The inn owners offer great conversation, and the morning breakfast service is generous. Waking to a personal sit down meal in the glass conservatory is our favorite part :) My favorite room so far has been Windsong - spacious, well decorated with nice windows, and has a wood burning stove. Victorian Elegance has a great tub and the lighting is beautiful at night, but not so good for natural light during the day. The red color scheme of Enchantment wasn’t for me, although the selling point there is the jacuzzi. |We will be back!

The location was perfect, the service was amazing and the rooms were so cool!!! Everyone was so nice and the breakfast was great and you get to eat it in the cute little sunroom. The decor and rooms themselves felt like another era and our room even had a wood stove ! The staff was great and helpful. Overall, we just had an incredible time!! Def going to go back

My wife and I had a great experience staying cozy during a cold weekend. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. Would recommend to anyone looking to take a quick trip from NYC. The town of Cold Spring is out of a story book. Will come back!

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time staying at the B&B. The room was super clean and cozy. The staff were super helpful and incredibly kind. Most importantly, the complimentary breakfast was AMAZING! Cannot wait to stay here again.

This was the most wonderful B&B experience. We stayed in May while we were there for a wedding. Vera is the epitome of friendly and welcoming host and made us feel like family. She is a gem! The location was perfect and we enjoyed walking around downtown Cold Spring as well as walking through the West Point Foundry. The rooms were all so wonderful and made for a delightful weekend. Each night there is a delicious dessert, as well as tea and coffee. The breakfasts were delicious and we enjoyed sitting out in the greenhouse and feeling so relaxed. Thank you Vera for a wonderful stay!

To begin, the Pig Hill Inn is a very quaint, cozy Inn located right on Main Street. Our room was very nice, and the breakfast was delicious. The staff was being accommodating and friendly. Now to the best part.||Vera, the proprietor, is one of the sweetest, most genuine people I’ve grad the pleasure to meet. Our group had the benefit of getting to spend time with her, and her kindness and compassion as a person even exceeded the excellent service she provided as the innkeeper. ||We will stay here again, not only for the Inn itself, but more because Vera and her team really make you feel special. Do not miss a chance to stay here!

Charm and grace were on full display from the moment we were greeted by David at check-in. My wife and I enjoyed our stay in Cold Spring made more special by the " little things" that Host Vera and David did for us; the fresh pot of coffee at 6:30 a.m. left with 2 cups on a silver tray ( Thanks Dave! ), to the yummy breakfast the next morning made more delicious by our host Vera with whom we chatted and laughed throughout. We look forward to getting back there for another " charm fix".

We had such a lovely stay at the pig hill inn! It's a great quaint getaway from the city. In addition to the great hospitality (tea and cane always available, clean towels/rooms/sheets), the "breakfast" part of the B&B was really delicious and full-service. Overall a fantastic experience! One note on allergies: make sure to be super clear and advocate for yourself if you have dietary needs like celiac. A girl near us was served regular toast despite repeating her gluten free needs multiple times. Just be careful. Otherwise a great experience!!

We loved every second of our stay at Pig Hill Inn, from the moment we saw it as we walked up from the train station not five minutes away on foot. We were thrilled we had reserved our room there! It is a European style oasis in a tiny town offering the most delicious breakfast, rooms, and hospitality. Vera, the Proprietor, is beyond lovely and welcoming. We were completely enchanted by her and by her elegant and fabulous European style of hospitality. Our room was perfect. We were there during a heat wave and the air conditioning throughout the whole B&B was perfect, including a completely quiet, adjustable, excellent unit in our room. The home-cooked breakfast was several courses, each lovingly curated for the maximum delight of the guests. Honestly, I have traveled all over Europe and much of the US, and never have a tasted such a delicious omelette as we were treated too each morning for breakfast. Even better, we were welcomed into the exquisite enclosed greenhouse that Vera designed and built onto the existing house which is fully air-conditioned and just beyond wonderful! On top of it all, Vera make sure there are snacks and tea in the afternoon, including the most delicious little lemon muffins and chocolate muffins I have ever tasted. Pig Hill Inn is exquisitely appointed and detailed to make you feel like you are traveling in a first class European hotel, and that you are truly welcomed and appreciated! Thank you so much, dear Vera and Dave and the wonderful staff that made our stay there so fantastic. We hope to see you very soon again!

Vera and staff went above and beyond our expectations, their hospitality makes The Pig Hill Inn a truly great experience. This is my first time visiting Cold Spring, what a quaint town! Normally in October we'd come to the Hudson Valley, dine at the CIA and stay in a nice hotel. 2020, we're dining outside but I was able to find this gem of a Bed & Breakfast. Checking in was easy breezy! Vera was at the front desk and welcomed us warmly. We walked up the stairs and opened the door to our room. From the sleigh bed to the cast iron tub, this was a unique Bed & Breakfast. Once we unpacked, I brought a bottle a wine for us to enjoy in their lovely garden. Vera came outside and said, why don't I give you cushions to sit on? It's the level of hospitality that truly shines at the P.H.I. While we were leaving for dinner, there was a hot apple pie cooling on the counter. I couldn't wait to come home and trust me, it was deelish! The next morning, we walked into the dining room and was served a full breakfast. The morning hostess was cheerful and made sure we always had hot coffee in our cups. She was another welcomed presence during our stay. So why the 4 stars? This isn't a white glove, impeccable establishment. The cast iron tub was a nice touch but getting in and out of the tub was challenging. There are 3 tight parking spots on the side of the building, if they're taken then you'll need to park on the street. The Pig Hill is an quaint, older Bed & Breakfast in the center of beautiful Cold Spring. The hospitality alone is worth the stay, it was the highlight of our vacation.

We had a lovely weekend stay here. The place is so charming and the owner is very nice. It's also perfectly located in cold spring for a nice weekend in the town. We had the breakfast on one morning (blueberry pancakes for my dining partner and an omelet for me) and we were very happy with it. We will stay here again.

I'm really not someone who ever leaves reviews, but anyone who is currently or soon-to-be staying at the Pig Hill Inn, please know that there are bedbugs at least in the Mountain Vista room on the third floor. I received what I thought were mosquito bites all throughout the weekend of June 20-23 (2024), but the morning of my checkout, I saw a bedbug crawling on the bed (photo attached) and the telltale sign of a blood spot on the sheets. I alerted the front desk in person, and they offered me a $50 refund. They have since ignored all email requests for a full refund, even after I re-sent photos of the bug and all my bites in the last 48 hours. I am now having to quarantine, treat, and/or throw away my belongings altogether to hopefully prevent an infestation in my home.

Cozy, lovely, and conveniently located. A perfect oasis in Cold Spring. We had a very comfortable stay here and it was located right on Main Street steps away from many shops and restaurants. The accommodations were charming and the complementary breakfast was enjoyed. Staff were courteous and kind, especially Dave and Vera.

My parents and I had such a wonderful stay here over the weekend. They graciously accommodated the 3 of us in one room and added a cot/fold up bed which was very comfy! The whole inn is so cozy and we loved sitting and reading/chatting by the fire and there are also board games/cards you can borrow which we loved. Breakfast was delish and the greenhouse you eat in is stunning! Vera is so kind, welcoming, and helpful, will definitely stay here again! Also the baked goods in the afternoon was the best surprise

We had a really enjoyable stay at the Pig Hill Inn this week on a quiet Monday evening. We met both Dave and Vera who were friendly and approachable and felt our time here was peaceful and private. We bumped into other guests maybe a couple of times during our stay but the innkeepers did an amazing job in terms of covid safety guidelines. No more than 2 sets of guests at a time were seated for breakfast, allowing enough space and time for all the guests to enjoy leisurely breakfast in peace. The inn is in an older building with lots of antique-y touches but we never felt like there was sanitation issue. Our room was clean and there was hand sanitizer available in the room too. We drove up with our car and had no problem with parking - there are spots right outside of the inn's sunroom where breakfast is served. We stayed in Tranquility room with a magnificent four poster king sized bed with a canopy, wood burning fireplace, and amazing jacuzzi tub. It was such a special treat. Tub was perfect to soak in after walking around town. We made hot chocolate from the ground floor pantry and brough the cups to our room, resting them on top of the fireplace kept them warm while we enjoyed the fire. The inn is right across the street from Cold Spring Apothecary (love the scented candles and skin care products), which was closed on Monday and Tuesday, but it's another favorite spot of ours whenever we are in Cold Spring. The location of the inn is perfect for exploring a small and charming town of Cold Spring. We had great breakfast of fresh croissants, fruits, omelet with asparagus and ham, and blueberry pancakes with bacon. Coffee and orange juice. The room is gorgeous in the morning, with abundant light flowing through the glass. Overall, we had a lovely stay at this charming inn and will surely come back when we are next in town, perhaps in another room to taste each room's quirky charm!

This is a quaint inn with a fantastic location in Cold Spring. Lots of great hiking trails nearby. The breakfasts were fantastic, with several options each day. The staff was warm and accommodating, as they allowed us to use their refrigerator and ice machine freely. I would stay here again

My friends and I ended up here after our Airbnb fell through at the last minute. While in Flowercup Wine explaining what happened to us the owner told us she knew Vera the owner of the Pig Hill Inn across the street and would give her a ring to see if anything was available. Keep in mind this was Saturday at 5pm. Next thing you know Vera drove over and met us. She gave us a tour of the rooms available. Vera couldnt have been more friendly, welcoming, kind, caring and hospitable. We took two rooms and both were charming and had everything we needed. We were also treated to a delicious breakfast in the morning. The next day Vera checked to make sure we slept well and had everything we needed. She is simply the best. I urge you to stay here. You will not be disappointed!

Spent a lovely July weekend here! This lovely B&B has ~9 rooms, each unique in their layout and colors. We stayed in the Danish Blue room on the second floor, which had its own bathroom (tub and shower head) and view of Main Street. Air conditioning and ceiling fan kept the room nice and cool on a hot, humid weekend. WiFi was strong. Everything was clean. What made this place really stand out was the service and friendliness of everyone there. The owner, Vera, greeted us warmly at the entrance, walked us around the inn, showing all the features (including apple pie!). She was so pleasant without being the least bit intrusive. The other staff we met were also kind. Last but certainly not least, the breakfast offered was delicious! Usually a choice between a basic omelette or French toast/waffles and some sort of breakfast meat. The bread basket each morning was delicious and coffee was perfect. And it was served in their lovely "greenhouse" glass room. Can't wait to stay here again!

The Pig Hill in was clean, welcoming, and all around wonderful for a stay in Cold Spring. Nestled in the center of the village's lively Main Street and only short walk away from a number of incredible Hudson Valley hiking trails, the location truly can't be beat with the only thing better than the location being the excellent and attentive staff. All around great stay, we can't wait to go back!

Just stayed here for the second time and still love it as much as the first. My partner and I came here to get away from NYC during the COVID-19 pandemic and Pig Hill In did not disappoint. The eclectic/vintage/farmhouse decor is cute as ever and sets a calming tone for the stay. We were in the Danish Blue room which was beautiful. Our breakfast of egg and asparagus omelette was an awesome treat. One thing I love most however is that the staff allow you to hold your bags there after you check out, and there is always something freshly baked as well as a tea bar to relax and unwind. We will be staying here every time we come to town!

More like Pig Hill (w)Inn.. For me, giving five stars really means that the establishment has gone above their obligation to ensure that I, as a guest, enjoyed my time there. Considering that this was a bed and breakfast, the fact that this was the case was indeed quite the treat. We arrived later in the evening for Cold Spring (~11pm) and the person in charge had left a key for us to enter AND there was freshly baked apple pie in the kitchen! Not sure if the baked goods are to be expected, but we sure felt lucky. We stayed on the third floor in the 'Mountain View' room, which had a four poster bed and a view of Main Street (as well as the mountains..now I get it) with a shared hall bathroom with the other two rooms on that floor. The bathroom was a shower with a tub, but from looking at other rooms online there are definitely options for a private bathroom with a bath tub as well (because honestly, what more could you want?). There is also a complimentary breakfast offered that one can choose to partake of either inside their room or inside the indoor garden patio. I recommend the patio, it is very greenhouse-esque. There is also an outdoor area that would be lovely in the spring or summertime. In November there was still snow on the ground, which made staying inside but still being able to view the outside terrain very cozy. My personal favorite part of our stay was the living room area of the bed and breakfast. There is a fire place (pictured) and board games and magazines for use of the guests at any time. There is also a little bar where you can get a glass of wine or a beer while lounging fireside. We were invited to help ourselves to a cup of tea or coffee while we were waiting for our train and just sat by the fire and read some local papers. Be sure to sign their guest book while you are there and let them know where you are visiting from. Thank you Vera and Dave and the rest of the staff at Pig Hill Inn! We felt very welcome and at home. Hope to return soon and bring you a pig from a far away land.

My wife and I stayed here for a few days in September, 2023, and it was just wonderful. The breakfasts are awesome and everything about the place is quaint and lovely. The woman who runs it is awesome and very helpful. It's located right in the middle of town and super easy to get to. We are already looking into booking another trip! Wonderful experience, highly recommend.

The Pig Hill Inn's greatest flaw is its location, Cold Spring, which is unfortunate for a bed and breakfast. The charm of a bed and breakfast is the offer that you and your person might spend a quiet weekend in bed somewhere other than home, perhaps wandering a bit for meals and some entertainment. That was the plan that my boyfriend and I had. We arrived on Saturday afternoon and by Sunday afternoon, we experienced our first racist incident. I complimented a man on Main Street for his two large beautiful well-groomed dogs. The man was sitting down and declined to respond. I was stunned. There were two other more ambiguous incidents in the two days we were in Cold Spring. Three incidents in two days. After I got home to Jersey City, I looked up Cold Spring politics. It turns out that Cold Spring is Trump country. A mere 90 minutes from the magic of NYC is a little town that thinks it wants tourism but isn't ready to act like it. I spent a weekend in Beacon (about 8 miles north, the next Metro-North station) a few months ago and it was lovely. Beacon is a slice of NYC in the woods. If you're looking for a relaxing romantic getaway around trees, go there instead. On the hotel itself - This is a 3/5 star review because while I didn't care for it, it wasn't actually bad. Pluses - Vera, the proprietor, was nice. Breakfast was delicious. The conservatory where they serve breakfast is very sweet. The shower was great. The inn is within walking distance of some easy hikes. Minuses - I found the décor cluttered. I thought it wasn't as clean as it could have been. I would have liked healthier options at breakfast. Our bathroom door didn't fit well into the frame and I'm not particularly strong so every time I went to the bathroom and pulled in the door, my boyfriend had to help me open the door from the outside. This was certainly a comical bonding experience but probably not one that was intended.

I have wanted to do a little getaway here for a long time, and I am so glad I did. The Inn is lovely, and I had a wonderful room (Victorian Elegance). The breakfast and decor are also charming, and the owner and staff are great. Recommend!

We booked a mid-week overnight trip to Cold Spring, staying at the Pig Hill Inn, hoping to escape the city for 24 hours while being pampered at a quaint inn. However, it was not the romantic little getaway that we had anticipated. We arrived around 1230 and had expected to leave our overnight bag at the property while we were out. Vera, the owner, told us that our room was ready, so we popped in and put our carry-on inside. She gave us a key to the room, and one to the Inn in case no one was there to let us back in. We returned about 5pm and sure enough no one was there. We went to our room and noticed quite a few things that were broken or dirty. There were 2 chairs, one of which could not be used because the arm was completely cracked. A ceiling light fixture was hanging down in the bathroom. The trim on the shower door was falling off and covered in mold and mildew. There were cobwebs. And even a dead bug smashed and left on the bathroom wall. And the room had more than one layer of dust on its baseboards and door hinges. The shower head was corroded making the water all but trickle out of it. But the worst part of it all, no one else was staying at the inn that night, not even the innkeeper. We were left alone in a strange house in a dirty room that was in disrepair. In all fairness, we were told by Vera to call if we needed anything, but it's highly doubtful that they would have come back to the inn that night to make repairs and to clean. We chalked it up to Covid perhaps causing the innkeepers to lose business and thus being low on cash flow to make the repairs. However, upon checking out the morning of October 29th, Vera told me that they had been incredibly busy and even showed me that their calendar was full. That was her reason for having no one stay at the inn with us that Thursday night, she needed a break. Also, her co-worker had hurt his back, so he was unable to stay as well. The more I thought about it, the angrier I had become. We had just paid almost $200 to stay in a dirty and decrepit room and all the owner could basically say was that she needed a little respite. So I had written her an email from my train ride home explaining everything. She called and cried to me saying that she was sorry, but she did nothing to make it right. No partial refund, no credit voucher for a return stay...nothing. She had eye surgery a few weeks back and Dave had hurt his back. That was her excuse. We had a decent breakfast in our room that morning. And we were certainly ALONE. The Pig Hill Inn is in a fantastic location, however we won't ever be going back.

Incredible. Really love this place--took the boyfriend here this past weekend for his birthday. We stayed in the Tranquility Room, and it was beautiful! The place is charming and warm, small in that cozy kind of way (but not cramped). We were greeted by Dave, who proceeded to give us a tour, immediately offered us apple pie and tea (which we devoured in the lovely greenhouse dining area), then took us up to our room. And what a room! The four poster bed with the swaths of gauzy cloth, the chilled bottle of bubbly, the wood burning stove, the huge bathroom with the 2-person Jacuzzi...amazing. The room (and all the other rooms...we peeked around during the weekend) is much bigger than we expected, and the other rooms were so prettily done, each appointed with its own charming character. The best part for us was breakfast. Pig Hill gives its guests an option of having breakfast either in the greenhouse room or having it brought to them at the time they request (we did this both mornings...it was sooo indulgent and lovely). The food came fresh, hot, and delicious--we didn't want to get out of bed after eating! The town is quiet, quaint, and full of antique and craft shops and art galleries. There are a couple of good restaurants here, but the main point is, this B&B fulfills what its guests seek---pampering, comfort, and indulgence. We can't wait to be back!

My wife and I had a pleasant stay here. The food is amazing, the staff are friendly and accommodating, and our room was luxurious with a jacuzzi. A couple things I wish I knew in advance: It's tough to keep food and drinks cold. We were able to figure out how to get ice the second night, but it was back in a staff-only area. The parking situation is also fairly precarious on weekends. We parked about 5 blocks away and walked quite a distance with all our belongings. That said, it was great once we were there and settled in. Would definitely recommend!

I really can't stress enough what an amazing time we had staying at Pig Hill Inn. Vera has such a warm, welcoming presence, making everyone feel right at home. Each room has its own theme, which means every time you visit, you get a different experience! And the food- OH THE FOOD! Dave is the man, what else is there to say? Every day, around 4 pm, he bakes something warm. The first day it was a delicious pie, the second, brownies! We were there for New Year's, and so they made appetizers for the guests and even popped open some champagne. The breakfast meals were also great. I don't think I'll eat a better blueberry muffin! It's located in Cold Spring, just a few blocks away from the Metro-North station. So if you're like me and you live in the city and you hate renting a car, then this place makes for the perfect, affordable and romantic weekend getaway with your significant other. Really can't stress this place enough. The only thing that could've been better was the fact that the other establishments in the area weren't as good! Some of the restaurants we ate at were just so-so and compared to Dave, they have some catching up to do! I'd also recommend going in the summer time as there are more outdoor activities you can do, like Shakespeare in the park and better hiking. Thank you Dave and Vera, we can't wait to return for another visit!

I was in need of a retreat form the crazy city life and came across Pig Hill Inn several times in my search. Fate was on my side. I booked a two night stay and wished I booked a three nighter instead. As a B&B first timer, I had my reservations but they went out of the window when I arrived - its so close to the Metro North station (so convenient! btw). I was greeted by one of the owners, Dave, who immediately showed me around. The inn is so cozy, historic and has a small boutique filled with nuances and an impressive display of bags. The breakfasts were a pleasant way to start the day plus the tea and snacks were bonuses - plenty of food!! I highly recommend this place for those traveling solo, with a significant other or a small group of friends. The inn is spacious, clean and welcoming.

I absolutely ADORE this place ..... I travel into Cold Spring from NYC often and when I spend a night there I will only stay at PHI ! --- would never stay anywhere else !!It is the most wonderful, comforting, friendly and welcoming place to stay, relax and get away from the city - especially in the fall/winter with a beautiful fire burning in the fireplace in your room .... just so delightful. I look forward to seeing Vera and Dave and the all of the girls each time I visit... I posted some pics of my favorite room............ GO! RELAX ! ENJOY !

We stayed here over New Year's for the long weekend. We seem to have been the only couple staying there for the first time. So clearly people love this place and keep returning. We stayed in the Mountain Vista room on the 3rd floor which was a very small room. But very clean and cozy. A nice aspect to the rooms is the fact that we control our own heat. We had a hallway bathroom, which was OK, although a VERY small bathroom and had no place to even hang a towel except one tiny hook on the door. Every morning has a lovely breakfast, and they were easily able to accomodate my gluten free and dairy free issues, which was great. on the 3rd morning, the pancakes were absolutely burnt to a crisp and unedible, but my boyfriend didn't mention it to them. I'm sure they would have redone them if asked. But we were shocked they came out that way. Each night there was a pie for tasting, and teas available. The staff was extremely nice. Cold Spring is basically one street and very cute. We had some decent food and a nice relaxing time. We took the train from New York City (about 75 to 90 min) and it was a 5 minute walk to the Inn.

This was my first visit to Cold Spring and first time at a B&B. The Inn: cozy and charming, the owners obviously put thought into every part of the space. The Victorian Elegance room was comfortable and had a woodburning stove which would be fun to use in the colder seasons. The food: really looked forward to the big breakfasts in the mornings! They offered tea, coffee, juices, baked goods, fruit, and your choice between three entrees. You can sit in the beautiful greenhouse or in their outdoor space in the back depending on the weather. In the afternoon they put out a dessert of the day which was always delicious. The service: everyone I encountered was lovely. The owner is nice and accommodating. Location: perfect. Located on Main Street by all the popular shops. A five minute walk to the metronorth and 10-15 minute walk to the main trails. I would highly recommend staying here! One tip (not related to Pig Hill Inn): definitely look up where to eat in the area as opposed to wandering and picking a random restaurant, some of the food spots leave a lot to be desired.

Everything about the Pig Hill Inn exceeded our expectations - from the friendly and helpful inn keepers, to the nice fireplace and selection of board games in the common room, to the beautiful green room for breakfast dining (with delicious options). The room itself was also impressive, with a lot of space, a comfortable bed, and cozy sitting area. Quiet atmosphere, perfect central location... simply put, we can't wait to go back again!

This quaint charming B&B is a wonderful getaway that we have frequented many times. The rooms are beatufilly decorated with antiques (every one is different) -- we love to stay in the Enchantment room with its jacuzzie and wood burning stove. A gourmet breakfast is served to you in your room. They have a beautiful living room downstairs for the guests to hang out by the fireplace. My partner and I over the past couple of years have stayed at the Pig Hill Inn several times and have absolutely fallen in love with the Inn and Cold Spring! It's a charming and quaint spot- the perfect place to relax for a weekend getaway. I have had several lovely conversations with Vera, the owner, who is always welcoming and so friendly. Dave makes a delicious breakfast (my favorite being the asparagus and cheese omelet with waffles!). The Inn has a warm and cozy feel- I love relaxing on the sofas in the lobby area and reading one of the many books available. There are wonderful personal touches- like the yummy home made baked goodies sitting out on the kitchen counter every evening for you to enjoy. My favorite room is Morning Ivy- it faces the back alley and is quiet and includes a little balcony for you to look out. I've had special memories here, including a quiet relaxing New Years Eve and even my honeymoon. I can't wait to go back again!! Whole heartedly recommend for anyone wishing to visit Cold Spring.

The innkeeper, if that is what he is, was rude, disinterested and the antithesis of hospitality. The room we stayed in was dated and the bathroom sported brown water out of the tap. The parlor was dark. Save yourself the aggravation and don't stay here. Who needs to be a recipient of someone's bad attitude especially when you are traveling? The guy is a first class jerk.

This establishment is the quaintest bnb you could find, beginning with the warm homemade desserts they greet you with, to the comfortable living space of each room - each featuring a different theme. We stayed in the Victorian Elegance - an adorable little room with a traditional-style bathtub and a wood- burning stove that is perfect for curling up next to with a deck of cards and some wine. Vera, the proprietor, is a lovely woman whose extremely welcoming nature makes you feel right at home. The inn features a delicious breakfast with an amazing view and a bunch of board games. There are a number of shops, cafes, restaurants and antique stores right around the inn. We are planning on revisiting the Pig Hill every season with an attempt to try every room and it's creative theme.

My girlfriend and I had an absolute wonderful experience staying at Pig Hill Inn. The rooms were beautiful, enjoyed a lovely cup of tea in the wonderfully charming foyer before heading to bed. Only to wake up to a terrific breakfast served in the beautiful green house off the back porch. Great location to town, wonderful clean rooms and incredibly accommodating staff. Perfect weekend get away. Also would be a great spot to use for hiking to beautiful trails throughout the year!

We stayed midweek in an empty inn during the slow season. We took the most expensive room and requested early check in, which they accommodated. As stated in other reviews, I don't know what the problem is of the inn keeper/chef, Dave. Vera, the owner says they're lucky to have but I've read multiple reviews and my own personal experience with him is that he's rude.. here's my account: I go downstairs to get a cup of coffee and find none, just hot water for tea. I hear movement behind the thin door where there is obviously cooking going on. I call out "hello" a few times to no response. Finally, I give a little knock on the door. I hear Dave let out a pissed off, "f*ck!" that I disturbed him. Score one for hospitality. I requested my coffee and told him I'd send my friend down for it. Dave must've realized his "f*ck" up because he delivered the coffee to our room on a tray with all the trimmings and then canceled housekeeping and told my friend we could stay until 5 pm. Perhaps this is a regular occurrence for Dave and he prevents bad yelp reviews using this method - I nearly didn't leave a review because I forgot I started this months ago - but we had such an amazing experience at a competitors B&B on a return trip that I felt compelled to document this. He never issued an apology to me and in fact, was curt to me as we left. (Hey Dave... they have medication and talk therapy for that. Don't take your $h,¡t out on your guests.) Super update... we've been back to Cold Spring three times since we stayed at the Pig Hill Inn, and stayed at a competitors place, and had the opportunity to speak to other prior guests of PHI. They had similar experiences and won't return either. LESSON? You can have the prettiest, quaintest place with the greatest fireplaces but if your host/cook is a shmuck your business is going to fail. (And btw, I also got that "do you know how to use the internet?" Line from him as well when trying to book. Unfortunately for Dave... I do.)

*Calling to make a reservation* Me (pleasantly): Hi, I'd like to make a reservation. Receptionist (ambivalently): Do you have access to the Internet? Me (very confused): Umm...yes...I do... Receptionist (condescendingly): Why don't you go online and make the reservation? You can see all the options and make the reservation online. Me (flabbergasted): Ok...I will do that... *Hangs up phone...what. just. HAPPENED??!!* What I wanted to say was, "Hey, B*TCH, what is with your attitude?! In all my not-so-young-anymore years, NEVER has anyone in the service industry basically told me to go F*CK myself in response to potential business. And actually, at this very moment, as we are both on the phone, I am on my computer, which by the way is connected to the Internet (or is it Internets? I don't know...it's all so technophamorphously confusing...), having checked out your website and I had some questions. So THANK YOU for managing to be SO OFF-PUTTING as to render all my subsequent queries and any desire to book with you completely moot. Ever. xoxo!

I had originally booked for Halloween to do something different with my 10yr old son. We were supposed to go see Blaze at the Cortlandt Manor. We live on Long Island and hurricane sandy was coming. I had to reschedule our stay and was really worried about the cancelation policy. Dave was very understanding and let me reschedule for the following week. The day we were supposed to leave a northeaster was coming. It was not going to ruin our trip!! When we arrived Dave showed us around. Showed my son how he could make his own hot cocoa. My son loved that he could get up and go make his own hot cocoa. Plus there was a basket of fresh cookies. Our room was absolutely adorable! I picked the sunrise room w/ twin beds. They were very comfy. The bathroom was a perfect size. My favorite was the fireplace room right outside of our room. Perfect space to have tea, read a book, just relax. My son watched his cartoons in the garden room while I was able to relax by the fire. In the morning we had our delicious breakfast. Hot croissants and muffins to start, fresh fruit, and whatever else we wanted. I had a delicious omelette and my son enjoyed his chocolate chip pancake. Thanks Dave!!! As we were eating I checked my email to find Blaze was cancelled again. I was worried my son was going to be disappointed, but he was having such a good time at Pig Hill Inn that he didn't care at all! I have told so many people about our lovely time. I can't wait to return again!

We had a fantastic time here! Vera was extremely hospitable and gracious and helpful and we got more of the same from Dave, who also cooked great breakfasts!

Oh, Pig Hill Inn. I love you so. My SO and I got married last Valentine's Day and we wanted a romantic and secluded honeymoon spot. This was perfect. Cold Spring itself is a really cute little area, very close to the water (which is beautiful even in the winter, but I'm sure lovely in the warmer weather). The Inn itself is literally only a few minutes from the train so the walk is pretty foolproof. It's worth noting that we're a same-sex couple (two women) and had some anxieties about choosing a honeymoon spot because a lot of desk workers or owners like to say things like "but don't you ladies want a room with TWO BEDS? IS THIS FOR GIRL'S WEEKEND AWAY?" which is always awkward. BUT, we experienced none of those issues and in fact the whole staff was really friendly and normal. So I definitely recommend it for other same-sex couples. Vera, the owner, was who greeted us and brought up a bottle of champagne to our room which was sweet (!) and did a really nice job of showing us around. For everyone else: yes, it's still awesome. We stayed in the Enchantment room and it was really lovely! Comes with a fireplace and a Jacuzzi tub. The room itself is also much bigger than the photos on their site make it look. We had a look at some of the other rooms which were open while they were cleaning, etc, and in particular the Tranquility and Victorian Elegance rooms looked really nice, too. Breakfast is *awesome*! We had breakfast in bed both times and it was delightful. Huge, huge spread and all of the food is a really good quality. You can sign up for it the night before and you can also note if you're a vegetarian/other dietary needs. During the day, they also leave out fresh baked goods in the kitchen area -- the snickerdoodle cookies in particular were delicious. When you're in Cold Spring, you're also really close to Dia Beacon, a really neat art museum only a town over. We didn't do any hiking because of the cold in the winter, but I can see how the area would be fantastic for it. Get a room! It is so nice!! You will definitely not regret it.

It's a very warm and cozy place. Nice breakfast. Nice dessert. We would consider it again if we come back the next time. But we live on the third floor... there is no elevator =S they nicely offered to help with our luggage though =)

I cannot say that I had an amazing stay at the Pig Hill Inn, because I unfortunately did not get to stay there. But I can say that I had and amazing experience there and cannot wait to go back. I made a mistake in booking and showed up to the Inn a day early. (I know. Idiot.) I had tried to book a nice weekend out of the city (Manhattan) for my partner's birthday but somehow got my dates mixed up. The Pig Hill Inn has a stated 14-day cancellation policy and I thought I was doomed because not only did we not have a place to stay, but I wouldn't have any money for any other birthday presents or festivities, as booking a room was already a splurge for me. I felt awful. Vera warmly took pity on me and recognized that I had made an honest mistake. Not only did she not charge me but she offered to look up other hotels in the next town over (Cold Springs was completely booked out that weekend) and she even offered to drive us there to avoid high cab fares. I couldn't believe it. Vera is a beautiful person who runs an honest business. The Pig Hill Inn looks like a completely charming place to stay and I cannot wait to actually stay there!

A few weekends ago, my husband and I took a weekend trip to Cold Spring and our stay at Pig Hill Inn was absolutely lovely. We used a bedandbreakfast.com gift card given to us by my father-in-law, so part of the positive experience may have been due to the fact that it was nearly free. The breakfasts in the beautiful garden room were absolutely fantastic. Fresh fruit, cranberry muffins and delicious coffee start off every breakfast. I had a delicious vegetable omelet the first day, and the ethereal blueberry pancakes the second. My husband had the decadent bananas foster french toast on day 1, and eggs in a basket on the next. All breakfasts are served with a side of bacon. The decor is so charming, there are piggie decorations everywhere, which I just adored. Our room, the rose room, was a normal sized bedroom, with lots of windows looking out onto main street. I have to comment on meowella s.'s 12/15/2008 comment: "No soap, shampoo in the room, no wifi, no tv, no phone, pretty much no staff whatsoever" -- We stayed here two weekends ago, and as of then, there was soap, shampoo and lotion replaced daily, free WiFi, and the staff was extremely helpful, providing good restaurant advice, and offering us fridge space for our farmer's market purchases. And as for tv, I didn't actually look for one, but a bed and breakfast is probably not a good place to find a tv.

Stayed 2 nights over the weekend. -Super quick walk from the train -Wonderful staff -room was cozy and adorable -the water pressure in the shower is unbelievable (claw foot tub!) -breakfast was delicious and they leave tea and tasty, homemade desserts out for the guests -loved working by the fireplace on the first floor -some of the best hikes in the state are a 20 minute walk up fair street Can't wait to return in the spring!

Pig Hill Inn is a great place for an escape when you're sick and tired of the noisy, obnoxious city. Dave was so friendly and helpful, he made our stay extra special. The breakfast was brought up to our room at the time we specified; it was delicious. We stayed in the Morning Ivy room, it was clean and tidy. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because something opened our door at one point and there was nobody outside. I was a bit creeped out. Beautiful town and the food is superb. I highly recommend this place.

We enjoyed a wonderful night at the Pig Hill Inn after a day of walking around Storm King. Cold Spring NY is a really cute town and the scenery around there is lovely. Nice bars and restaurants all around the Inn and all walkable. They also serve a wonderful breakfast. Delicious fresh muffins, jelly, butter, juice, coffee, tea, and eggs anyway and the day we went you could also choose an asparagus Swiss cheese omlette with toast, along with bacon or sausage. I would highly recommend this B and B! I thought Vera and Dave were very nice!

One of the best B&B we have stayed so far. You get captivated by the cozy and romantic atmosphere since the moment you walk inn. Dave was very attentive and helpful; but Vera - the owner - gets an AA+. She is very sweet and takes care of every single detail. We chose the Windsong room, which is located in the 3rd floor. Very quiet, silent, and comfortable, Sheets are super clean, as well as the private bathroom. Needless to say that the breakfast was delicious, with everything home-made style. Lastly, you cannot avoid the evening treat (whether it's chocolate cake or apple pie) with a nice cup of tea/coffee. A MUST stay when traveling to Cold Spring, NY. We will definitely go back!

I definitely recommend staying here if you're visiting Cold Spring. It fits the entire ambiance of the town itself, which is "quaint." It has a cozy main living room with a fireplace and a charming sun room that you can eat breakfast in. They always have treats out (cake, brownies) and tea that you can help yourself to. Breakfast was enjoyable; we had delicious french toast and a brie and spinach omelet, as well as plenty of coffee and OJ. My boyfriend and I stayed in the Bella Rose room, which was cute and cozy. The bed was comfortable and they provided plenty of pillows and blankets and towels. The staff was really friendly and welcoming. They have free WiFi. No complaints here. I will definitely be staying here again when I return to Cold Spring. We peeked in the Morning Ivy room and it looked beautiful, so I'll probably try to nab that room next time!

I couldn't have asked for a nicer hotel stay. The staff was very courteous and other guests were friendly. It was easily accessible from metro north, which was great since street parking was off limits from the ice storm. The down side was that we stayed here during an ice storm, which ruled out the hiking we were looking forward to. All the antique shops were still open, though and lounging around the room suited us just fine. Great restaurants in the area too. Take the time to head up to Beacon and visit the Dia museum. Very cool space.

Just got back from Pig Hill Inn, and we had a perfect trip. My fiancee and I were treated very well by the staff (don't mind Dave, who's a little curt - he's very helpful and nice despite his affect.) Vera (the owner) is wonderful. The room (we chose the Tranquility Room) was perfect, clean, comfortable sheets, clean bathroom. Shower with great pressure and a two-person jacuzzi. As everyone knows, the free breakfast is delicious. If you're going up hiking/relaxing in Cold Spring - especially if it's a romantic getaway - stay at the Pig Hill Inn. Can't recommend it enough.

The Pig Hill Inn is the perfect place for a little getaway from NYC or wherever you might be. It's situated right in the heart of Cold Spring's shopping area, which is replete with quaint antique shops, bookstores, and cafes (think Stars Hollow in Gilmore Girls). The accommodations and service are top rate, with baked goods and tea available all day, and an excellent, home cooked multi-course breakfast. This spot is certainly worth it for the price! I highly recommend it!

Just left this darling B & B and want any potential guests to know- This is a wonderful place! Vera is delightful and incredibly interesting if you are lucky enough to have a long chat with her. Dave is the perfect compliment to Vera, he's point blank honest and very knowledgeable about the Inn and town. Dave, you had us at "Hello". Oh I should also mention that Dave cooks the fabulous breakfast and you won't be disappointed. Our room had plenty of space, the bed was comfortable and lots of hot water for the shower. Book early, cuz they fill up!
