"Though Iowa may have a reputation as flat farmland, the 500-foot bluffs of Pikes Peak State Park allow you to look over the Mississippi River and feel like you're standing on the edge of the world. While you're here, explore Bridal Veil Falls (an appropriate venue for engaged couples and newlyweds), archaeological treasures like Bear Mound, and the park's abundance of bike trails and campsites." - Travel + Leisure Editors

I took a motorcycle ride down the river road. Stopped at pikes peak state park. There's a camping area. Lots of trails. The parking lot is paved and painted. There's restrooms. There's also a guide center. It was closed when I was there. It was a beautiful park. I could've sat on the lookout for hours. It was the most peaceful place I've been to in a long time. Im from Wisconsin, so looking towards my state was humbling. The bluffs along this stretch of road are magnificent!! I highly recommend you stop here and take in the views of the Mississippi river and the bluffs. The only bad thing I have to say is people scratched their names and other things into the railing.

Bring the whole family. There is a campground, accessible pathways, good hiking trails, and lots of picnic tables. The overlook is beautiful, and the view changes with time of day, weather conditions, and the seasons. Definitely worth a drive, but dress in layers for changing weather conditions.

Great campground and places to hike! Campground has been recently updated. Every site is electric. There are several water spigots placed around the campground to access if you don’t want to drive to dump station to fill up your rig with more water. There are 2 dump stations. 5 sites have FHU, but those are near the most activity of entrance, dump stations, and bathrooms. Easy access to great hiking and gorgeous views. Effigy Mounds National Monument is a 15 minute short drive away. That’s another gorgeous place to hike. All dog- friendly. Clean. DNR funded with busy camp hosts! We shall return -

Very nice park with great views of the river & hillsides. Park was clean with ample parking. Gift/snack shop was very decent priced on items & lady working was friendly & polite. Great place for some pretty views.

Beautifully well maintained park. The views are spectacular and plenty of walking trails to adventure out on. The restrooms are clean and stocked. There is a little refreshment area that also sells snacks, t-shirts etc...if your in the mood to pack a picnic, this will work nicely, lots of shady trees and plenty of picnic tables.

Great views of the Mississippi, large parking lot. Not being from the area things could have been marked a little better to help me find where I needed to go. But once I found it, it was certainly a good time.

Don't get over this way very often, but it is DEFINITELY worth a visit. Any time of the year works, but the fall is just stunning here !! Do some camping, take a hike, go on a picnic, enjoy the fantastic scenery, and cherish what all is around you.

We only enjoyed the views from the overlook points not far from the parking area. I hope to return and do some hiking. The kids and I did enjoy some ice cream treats from the store. Very friendly staff from my limited interactions.
