5 of the best locally owned businesses in Seoul - SilverKris

"Run by exhibition production company Glint and set on the slopes of Namsan, this multifaceted cultural complex is loved for its rooftop city views and ambitious exhibition program (past retrospectives have included Ryuichi Sakamoto). Current shows include “White Red Pink Green,” a production by German theatrical designer Peter Pabst inspired by the work of Pina Bausch. The ground floor café encourages communal dining at a single long table, while the building also houses a Michelin-starred restaurant on the upper level and a greenhouse supplying herbs used in the kitchen." - Robert Koehler

Piknic Electronik combines the chill vibes of relaxing in the outdoors with the excitement & fun of a music festival (depending on which part of the site you're in) almost every Sunday from May to October. There are two stages; the more intimate Banque Nationale stage surrounded by stairs that double as seats, and the Fizz stage with its huge dancefloor (partly a wooden platform, partly on the ground) interspersed with tall, lit up trees. The VIP Piknic Terrasse is located to the right of the Fizz stage. This mini-fest is located right next to the Calder statue, Trois Disques, also known as "Man". The site overlooks the river on one side with La Grand Roue and the Cirque du Soleil tented arena in the background which makes for a lovely backdrop, particularly at sunset. Farther from the stages there's a section of trees where they hung up lights, with hammocks & picnic tables to get off your feet and relax. There are food trucks sprinkled all over the main site, with a lot of the typical fast food but also a couple healthier options including veggie options. You're also allowed to bring your own food, just check the website for the exact rules. Lots of different bars at each of the two stages as well as in the main site towards the center of everything. Like most Piknic-ers the bucket drinks are my favourite; they're the best bang for your buck in terms of alcohol & amount, and they have the more creative cocktails. Of course they also have ready to drink cocktails in cans, beer (Sapporo), and non-alcoholic options. Cards only for payments. Water is available at water fountains on site so bring an empty reusable water bottle. The buckets and cups the cocktails come in are reusable for the entire rest of the season, but if you're finished with it you can return it and get refunded 4$ for buckets and 2$ for cups. I've kept a few buckets over the years! There's so much to love about this fest, I could go on and on! It's a great way to spend a Sunday.

I’ve been a season pass holder at Piknic Électronik for several years and have had countless amazing experiences, so much so that I’ve rarely felt the need to write a review. However, after this season, I wanted to share some honest feedback in the hope it reaches the right people and helps improve things. This year, my wife and I decided not to get season passes and instead attend select events, including the Black Coffee show, which we were really excited for and had invested in financially. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. Despite changing spots a few times, the sound quality was consistently poor, not just in volume but clarity as well. There was a noticeable echo in the space, which made it hard to enjoy the music. It felt like the setup wasn’t designed with sound in mind. It seems like a lot of investment went into the two big screens at the booth, but the trade-off was a layout that felt overcrowded and disconnected from what makes Piknic so special: the view of the Montréal skyline. The charm and atmosphere were completely lost. It also seemed like the sound system wasn’t scaled properly for the new layout both in terms of speaker quantity and placement. I truly hope future editions prioritize sound and crowd experience over flashy visuals or squeezing in more people. Even without screens or major production, an amazing sound experience in a beautiful setting is what made Piknic memorable in the first place. While my experience this year would rate closer to 1–2 stars, I’m giving 3 stars out of respect for all the great memories from past seasons.

Went for Bayo (presented by Michael Brun), one of the coolest event in the Haitian musical industry. Vibes were immaculate, the sound was bit weird hence the 4 stars but I had a blast.

My first and LAST experience.. waited for real good music to start and it never happened.. left after couple hours couldn’t take it anymore. Also only food available was fries. I’d only go there for the island itself it’s a nice ride.

I love this place, the energy is amazing! The music is invigorating and I love that everyone is dancing and having a good time. The Djs are great can't wait to go back!

Love this festival, I have the season pass which is a really good deal. The tickets themselves are not expensive, however on site the drinks are a bit pricy as any event. I would recommend the white claw and shot deal as the white claw bar only, best deal for liquor. Unless you want to eat poutine, I would recommend eating beforehand. They have a lot of porta potties bathrooms, but also 3 buildings on site with real washrooms so if you want a real bathroom you can easily wait in line and have access.

Super fun and just good vibes. Can’t wait to go back for other weekends throughout the summer ! Rain or shine it’s just a great time.

Google
Great atmosphere and location. Best place for concerts or festivals. The Montreal city back drop is amazing the space is large and the people working make you feel safe. The in and out management before event starts and after it ends is great was a bit slow getting out; which is only normal.

Yelp
Festival seemed fun, never got to go cause of weather. They said refunds would be processed, horrendous customer service. Months now and they will not process it, saying they tried to call. false.

Yelp
Dude. If you're going to be in MTL anytime near Piknics running schedule, DO NOT MISS IT. Well, miss it if you're a lame that hates alcoholic beverages and good vibes and good music. Miss it if you're a translucent shut-in hermit that is afraid of aural goodness. Miss it if your idea of a good time is being surrounded by your 30 cats and finishing a knitted sweater you're making for one of them. Don't miss it if you're fun and have rhythm. You know what, if you don't have rhythm, even more reason to come! There should be plenty of able-bodied people willing to teach you a thing or two! I came to Piknic not knowing what to expect. I met a couple of travelers from my hostel here and immediately after entering, the place was just absolutely mental. We spent 90% of our time here at the side stage grooving to Alexa Jurjan. Super talented and easy on the eyes, it was probably one of the best DJ sets I'd ever had the pleasure of attending. She had the crowd just absolutely wavy, and I didn't want it to end. Ev-errrr. (The Sandlot) Make sure to get a bucket to drink. Sure, it'll set you back about $20 but at least you get a cool pail to take home! And you can't complain about the price of drinks when it was only 10 USD to get in. Again, don't miss out. Make sure you print out your tickets before you get here. Buy a bucket. Dance your pants off. Sweat as much as you can. High five the cops on your way to the metro station.

Yelp
If you're not a big fan of live drums, that's the other option to get it on on Sundays. Picture this: a huge gathering of party people dancing under the sun from 3 (the site opens earlier, but it's getting real busy by the mid-afternoon) until 7ish, on Sundays. It features local and guest DJ's: Akufen, Mini, Tiga as well as Rob Mello, Richie Hawtin, James Holden. It will alleviate you of 5$, which is worth it. To get there, it's not too complicated, you just take the metro and ride it to the Jean-Drapeau stop. It's on an island, to make it a lil' more exotic.

Yelp
I love dancing outdoors! Especially to electronic music. You get a great view of Montreal and the St. Lawrence while dancing and enjoying the sunset. I had a great time here! I came to see Misstress Barbara in August and it was better than I could have imagined. And for $5 you really can't beat this!
