Used to love Caron's studio and how she managed her studio with her team of instructors except for a particular pushy and patronizing instructor Shannon H. who teaches on Tuesday late morning. Shannon H. cannot commit to teaching early Tuesday classes before 8 am because it is too early for her but she kicks patrons out if you are few minutes late.
The worst part is she pretends and tells you that it is to avoid you from injuries. Ridiculous when clients have been coming to the studio regularly for years.
I would have rated this studio a lot better except for my experience with Shannon two years ago (stopped coming to Shannon's classes) and this time. Since Shannon works as an instructor of this studio actively teaching and representing this studio, I am entitled to post my Yelp review based on my most recent awful experience with Shannon at this studio without being discredited or intimidated to remove my 1-star review.
I have been avoiding taking Shannon's Tuesday after 8 am classes like a plague over two years. Two weeks ago, I inadvertently signed up for one class with Shannon thinking I was signing up with a different and great instructor Jasmine. A huge mistake!
I should have only taken 10:30 am HIIT class taught by non-Shannon instructor and avoided any chances of accidentally going to one of Shannon's Pilates classes. On this date when I showed up to Shannon's class few minutes late, there were several Pilates reformers (Proformers) not being used and available for me to use without disturbing others. There was absolutely no safety concern to others, Shannon, and me from joining the class session few minutes late. Shannon stopped me from getting onto one of the available Profomers instead of teaching the class. She said that as an instructor of this studio will not let me join the class because I missed few minutes of core warm up. I tried to inform her that I'd been coming to the studio regularly about 5 times per week and would not hurt myself by merely skipping few minutes of one signed up class. Shannon stopped me in mid-sentence of my explanation and kicked me out of her class.
It was complete waste of my time showing up to Shannon's class only to be ousted, and Shannon's suggestion of yet wasting more time by coming to her later class was even more infuriating.
Over the last three years, several wonderful Pilates instructors like Sharlize and Jenny taught at Caron's studio and left. There are still great Pilates instructors like Caron, the studio owner herself as one of the Pilates instructors, Whitney, Hillary, and Jasmine at Caron's studio. I enjoyed taking their classes, and significantly improved my fitness level and knowledge in Pilates from regularly taking their classes 3 - 6 times per week over the last three years. As a loyal client in support of Caron's studio and my endeavor to continuously grow with her studio, I held unlimited-classes membership when this recent event took place. In my experience, Shannon's my way or highway of Pilates teaching method was insulting and non-inspiring. It is my unbiased opinion that Shannon is a horrible Pilates instructor. After the most recent experience at this studio, I would never intentionally take Shannon's class ever again or keep membership at a studio that supports her insulting teaching method and discriminatory behavior against clients.
I am grateful for Caron's support in the past and agreement to terminate my membership contract. I've moved on and happy that I don't need to be stressed out at my fitness center of inadvertently running into a horrible fitness instructor, who is allowed to turn away for being few minutes late based on her baseless discretion, or incurring additional fees from no show and late cancellation if I encounter unexpected schedule conflicts.
