Pillows Grand Boutique Hotel Maurits at the Park (Amsterdam, North Holland) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Even in summer, there’s a crisp, collegiate, fall-is-in-the-air atmosphere at the Pillows Grand Boutique Hotel Maurits at the Park. It’s an impression that makes perfect sense when you learn that this luxury boutique hotel makes its home inside a restored university building that dates back to 1908. With its elegant brick facade, high-arching ceilings, and large windows overlooking Amsterdam’s leafy Oosterpark, it’s more like the movie version of academia, and its light-filled rooms, with bespoke beds, heated floors, and Diptyque bath products, are a far cry from a college dorm. The best suite even has a grand piano and a marble bathroom with a soaking tub. Complimentary snacks and drinks are available around the clock in the modern guest lounge, and a collection of restaurants and bars — including a chic brasserie and a roaring twenties-style cocktail lounge named after F. Scott Fitzgerald — add to the appeal." - Tablet Hotels

Our stay was extraordinary! We arrived early a.m. after a flight from the U.S. . Check in time was not until the afternoon so we were able to leave our luggage and relax and refresh in their beautiful lounge with coffee and a snack.|Every staff member was friendly, helpful, and accommodating with making plans and purchasing tickets for transportation or attractions in Amsterdam or surrounding cities.|The entire property has a clean, fresh, quiet, and calming atmosphere and our room, along with every area was sparkling clean. I fell in love with the aroma of the public areas, Rosemary I think ❤️.|The property was easily accessible from public transportation. In fact we liked the location of the property next to a pretty (and safe) park. The property has their own gardens that were still lovely in early October.|Breakfast every morning was delicious, beautifully plated, and served graciously.|And don't leave without going to the speakeasy bar! Again, service was amazing and the cocktail menu was innovative and the selections we had were excellent.

A lovely new hotel a bit away from the center of town. Cool and chic design. Rooms and bedding, products are excellent. Service is outstanding from a young and motivated staff. Fitz bar is nice with old style jazz and inventive drinks. The breakfast is wonderful. So many choices and they are all really good. The Spring Brasserie was so good we ate dinner there 2 out of three nights. We will look to stay at other Pillows properties. Very impressive group.

Hotel staff were exceptional. Restaurant staff were exceptional. Rooms were spotless. Front staff, especially Chris J, were so welcoming and helpful. The concierge staff were able to acquire tickets for us we were unable to obtain. They went above and beyond. I highly recommend this hotel and both restaurants for an extraordinary experience!!!

This is an excellent SLH hotel. The reception team gave us a warm and friendly welcome, and the room was just what we needed. The gym is small but perfectly suited for a quick workout. The restaurant is also great and bar is very cozy A special thanks to the concierge team—Stefan and Joram were especially helpful and welcoming. All in all I had very good, but short stay. I’ll definitely choose this hotel again on my next visit to Amsterdam.

We stayed here for six nights and it really felt like a little haven away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre and the busy tourist spots. After long days exploring Amsterdam, it was lovely to return somewhere calm and comfortable. Our room, while a little compact, was thoughtfully appointed and came with beautiful views over the park. One of the highlights was being able to open the full-length window and hear the sounds of the local community enjoying the green space – it gave the hotel a welcoming, lived-in feel. The room was spotless throughout our stay, with fluffy towels, quality toiletries, and the nice touch of complimentary tea and coffee alongside a luxury mini-bar selection. Breakfast each morning was varied and plentiful, with something for everyone. That said, we did notice that the attention to detail with service dipped slightly as the week went on, though it didn’t detract too much from the overall experience. We particularly liked the concierge desk set up in the lounge (called The Living), which was a great touch for helping plan outings and get quick advice. It was just a small shame that non-alcoholic drinks were no longer complimentary in that space. The location turned out to be ideal. Tram 14 took us directly into the centre quickly and easily, while trams 1 and 2 were perfect for getting to the museum quarter and nearby bars and restaurants. On several evenings, we opted to stroll back from the centre, which was a real treat – the walk is pleasant and gave us the chance to stop off at little cafés and bars along the way. The only slight drawback was the lack of storage in the room if you’re staying for more than a few days – not much in the way of drawers or shelving. However, the receptionist was incredibly proactive in finding us a solution that worked perfectly, which we really appreciated. Overall, this is a lovely hotel in a great location. While perhaps not quite a full five-star experience, it certainly made our stay in Amsterdam memorable, comfortable, and relaxing. We’d happily return and recommend it to others looking for somewhere stylish yet welcoming to stay.

It is the second year we’ve stayed at Pillows. The first time (Sept 2024) was impressive! As we crossed the street, the gentleman walking on the driveway noticed and asked if we were headed to the hotel. He offered to help me with my luggage. We then found out he was the concierge as we checked in. That attention to detail made us come back this year, the same month. This time, a training front desk, Finn, with Bea, had that attention to detail. Finn remembered the reason for our stay is to celebrate my birthday, and he made sure to greet me on my actual birthday. The following week, since I forgot to buy the room spray from the shop, we came back, and Finn remembered us, and we had a short chat. Unfortunately, this time he was working with a lady at the front desk that was not so pleasant and appeared to be annoyed that we are there. The rooms are a bit small. All the room lights are good for ambiance but not optimal for applying make-up (it creates shadows), and the face mirror in the bathroom is installed for women that are at least 6 feet tall. But the charm of the building, signature scent, Fitz Bar, Oosterpark, are all good reasons to come back!

We stayed at this hotel after our flight was cancelled to Mexico. We were very tired, had no luggage and incredibly stressed. The receptionist Beatriz was fantastic. She made sure we had everything we needed including face cream, toothpaste and brushes. We are so grateful to her and the team including the restaurant who understood when we cancelled at the last minute because we were so tired. They really dod bend over backwards. ||Thank you so much
