This is the place in Deventer. Never had a better place here. The staff amazing. The rooms 8 stars. Service food and breakfast al great. The view over the IJssel is the best here. The small ferry is ideal to be fast in the old city centre. Sleep here!

**Incredible Stay at Pillows Hotel: A True Gem!** From the moment I stepped into Pillows Hotel, I was enveloped in a warm and welcoming atmosphere that immediately set the tone for my stay. The hospitality here is unparalleled, with every staff member radiating friendliness and a genuine desire to ensure guests have the best experience possible. What truly stood out to me was how the team handled a situation that would typically be inconvenient for most hotels. Their prompt response and willingness to accommodate my needs showcased a level of professionalism and care that is rare to find. It’s clear they prioritize guest satisfaction above all else. As a trained chef, I’ve had the privilege of dining in some of the finest establishments, but the culinary experience at Pillows was nothing short of extraordinary. The food surpassed many five-star places I’ve visited, each dish meticulously crafted and bursting with flavor. It’s evident that the kitchen is passionate about their craft, and I couldn't help but savor every bite. The wine list was equally impressive, featuring an exquisite selection, including one of the best South African Chardonnays I have ever tasted. While I regret not noting the name, the memory of its rich and complex flavors will linger long after my visit. Attention to detail is a hallmark of Pillows Hotel. From the thoughtful notes and delightful chocolates left in the room to the charming surprise provided upon my departure, it’s the little things that truly elevate the experience. These small gestures made me feel valued and appreciated as a guest. I also encountered a minor issue with my invoice during my stay, but a quick call to the front desk resulted in an instant resolution. The efficiency and effectiveness with which the team addressed my concerns further solidified my impression of their exceptional service. In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Pillows Hotel to anyone seeking a remarkable stay. The combination of outstanding hospitality, exquisite dining, and meticulous attention to detail makes it a standout choice. This was honestly one of the best boutique hotel experiences I’ve ever had, and I’m not just talking about within the Netherlands, but around the world. Everything from the room, service, breakfast, restaurant, staff, location, view, atmosphere, etc. It’s everything a boutique hotel should be: full of small-town charm, staffed by a genuinely warm and well-trained team, and offering impeccable, personalized service throughout. Check-in was a breeze. Literally every staff we’ve encountered throughout our week-long stay was attentive, polite, high-spirited, and always eager to do anything in their power to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The room design is understated, sleek yet functional. The bed was very comfortable, and the AC/heater works very well. The only issue we have with the room was the drainage system of the standing shower cubicle, which is too small and drains a bit slow, so water might flow out of the cubicle at times. The breakfast was absolutely one of the highlights! During our very first breakfast, I casually asked for some sausages and mushrooms to go with my fried eggs, if they had any. They checked with the kitchen and said they had some tomatoes and onions, which I was totally fine with, and the result was delicious. What surprised me was the fact that one waiter came back to our table 5 minutes later and said that, since we’re staying for quite a few days, they’ll just make sure to order the sausages and mushrooms for rest of our stay. I mean, if that’s not good service, I dont know what is! Absolutely mind-blowing, better than any 5-star hotel you can find in Amsterdam for sure! On the third day of our stay, they left us a note in the room to invite us to enjoy some bubblies and light bites at The Living (their lobby lounge area). We took up on their offer, and enjoyed some exquisite mocktails and bitterballen one afternoon (pictured below), while taking in the stunning view of the Deventer old town across the IJssel river. During our stay, we also ordered from the hotel restaurant “IJssel Restobar” and have it delivered to our room. Every dish was carefully-crafted, well-presented and delicious! Before our check-out, they even left us a thank-you note in the room with a little toiletry bag filled with a full set of Pillows bath products. What a sweet, lovely surprise! To be honest, I would rate this hotel 10 stars if I could. For anyone visiting Deventer and wants to have the best hotel stay experience, look no further, Pillows is your best (and only) choice!

Apart from some ants in the bathroom and on my nightstand we had a wonderfull stay at this hotel. From this hotel you have a great view of Deventer at night. Wooow! Welcoming us was also very warm and they took the time to explain everything, not at the desk but in.a quiet place in the restaurant. The rooms and bathroom are very modern. Breakfast is not a buffet but a la carte and you can choose from a selection of items as many as you like including drinks.|The ferry to bring you across the Ijssel is just around the corner and no waiting time. It's a nice way to enter the center of Deventer.||Just 2 things I would like to mention in this review:|* When booking the website mentions that you can have a room with ijssel view. So when booking we mentioned that in the comment section. Day later we received the actual bill for the ijssel view room (€35 extra per room per night). |* You receive a few ferry tickets, we thought they were free, but when checking out they were added to the bill. It's not a lot of money, but you have to be clear about that upfront.

I stayed here for two nights in April 2024, for work. ||The hotel is beautifully located right next to the river, with wonderful views across to the town. | |The bedroom was spacious, the bathroom was simple and perfectly clean. The underfloor heating was a nice touch. A very good quality mattress and really great pillows made it a comfortable stay.||The staff in the hotel helped to make this one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had (and I’ve stayed in hundreds over the years). The first night we didn’t arrive until after midnight but the welcome was still warm and helpful. Breakfast was served in a different place from usual while their restaurant is being refurbished but it was all faultless. ||The next day we were unexpectedly back in the area so chose to stay again. There was a handwritten “welcome back” message in the room alongside the complimentary chocolates. On arrival they gave us a list of recommended local restaurants, checked to see if we could make a reservation at the time we needed, and booked the table for us. ||All in all, this place is a gem and a wonderful find. The team create a welcoming atmosphere and nothing is too much trouble. I’ll definitely be back, this time with my wife, for some rest and relaxation. I’m looking forward to it already!

Comfortable stay, good bed, pleasant environment, free parking in the back yard. You do have to cross the water by (paid) ferry or about a kilometer walk over a bridge with a nice view. The breakfast is relatively pricy, that was a bit of a surprise for us.

We celebrated our wedding at Pillows Ijssel Hotel. The Location is amazing as it is located close by the Ijssel with a view on Deventer. The location itself is beautiful with its interior design and high ceilings. We can definitely recommend the location for these kind of celebrations. The staff is very friendly and professional. The dinner was perfect, it was one of the best food we had. The organization went very well and even if we had to change plans on a short notice, they showed flexibility and arranged everything so well. We are very happy that we have chosen Pillows Ijssel Hotel for our wedding.||||Note: We couldn't rate the category "sleep quality" as we haven't slept there. Therefore, this has been left open.

Tried emailing Pillows to book a room three times. Did this over a period of a week. Needed to book direct as needed extra bed in room and couldn't book online. Never received a reply. Eventually emailed Pillows Amsterdam who responded immediately but said they couldn't help with reminding Pillows deventer to email me back. Absolutely shocking waste of time. Dreadful service. Stayed at another (more efficient) hotel in the end.
