The People Lyon is a great place to stay for solo travelers. The dorms are good, although you do have to be aware that the bed boxes don't have a lot of head room. The women's dorm I was in actually had two separate bathrooms so never had to wait to use the bathroom or shower. The bathrooms were cleaned and stocked daily. The guest kitchen is clean and pretty well stocked so cooking was easy. There is also a chill out zone attached to the kitchen area to sit and work in. The staff is excellent. Cheerful and helpful. The location is the only drawback as it is a long way from the train station and up a very long hill. For older guests this could be an issue. Lyon is a city with lots of hills and staircases. If I ever come back to Lyon I would choose The People again.

Rooms are a bit basic (only one towel and very little furniture) but very clean and functional. (We stayed in a private room). Heating was completely off due to being broken which was quite a surprise given it was -4 degrees outside. However, the staff provided a temporary heating solution and reacted fast that worked very well. We were there over NYE and there was a party, which is fine but the music was very loud until 3AM despite being on the 5th floor, might be taken into consideration in the future that stopping it around 1 or 1h30 AM would be more considerate. The staff is very nice, and the location is good but might be good to know that it is very uphill.

Great and comfortable for digital nomads! The beds were nice, offered plenty of privacy in the cubes and I slept incredibly well. The coworking space downstairs was excellent (one of the best I’ve used among The People hostels in France). Breakfast was great, the beer and wine on tap were solid and the internet was fast and reliable. There was a nice and fun, yet chill atmosphere the whole day. Some staff members are also kind and enthusiastic. The only downside was that on the 6th floor there were no shared bathrooms. I’m not a big fan of ensuite dorms, and in an 8-bed room it meant long lines in the morning for a single toilet, shower and sink. I’d absolutely stay here again the next time I’m in Lyon tho! Thank you!

This place deserves a 4.5 stars (no one gets 5 but Google doesn't accept 4.5s) I had a 4 person dorm. We were quiet. (I never even saw my roomies) The beds are comfortable. (And the long wise structure was actually surprisingly calming). I slept well for the first time in a week. The in room bathroom was a bonus. Despite people's reports of cleanliness, I found things in very good shape. (No mold in the bathroom as at Slo) The People is just more sophisticated than Slo. It runs a serious restaurant and café. To note: there is no communal kitchen (that I could find) . So no DIY pasta and tomato sauce. Prices were a little higher than I'd expected from their website (36e vs 21e) but I think that is the premium one pays for having fewer beds (than 12 or 16) and that works for me. The breakfast filter coffee is, like Slo's, not very good. (For a good fun breakfast head up the hill to Croix Rousse area, which hums) No secure bike storage I was told.

Not a very easily accessible location, you need to climb uphill and there’s no shop/supermarket nearby, only one single convenience store. Twenty minute walk down slope to reach the more busier area that has shops and some tourist attractions. The bed was ok, pod with curtains so more privacy. Locker provided but need to self prepare lock and key. Toilets and bathrooms are separated, no queue. Shared kitchen has fridge, stove and cutleries but no coffee or tea provided. Common area is connected to kitchen, tatami style that requires you to take off your shoe. Paid washer, dryer and locker room available. The locker room was full when I checked out so the receptionist helped me keep my luggage at the front desk. First floor of the hotel is a restaurant, we couldn’t sit downstairs at night. Breakfast buffet was decent, but you need to go early.

The hostel had a good location, very very nice common facilities, food and drinks. Nice and friendly staff. Possibility of late check in. Comfortable and private dormatory. Private charging area and light by the bed. Locker for each bed and in general very clean.|There was sadly no way to manage the room temperature, so it was a bit cold. Also the bed cubicle was painted black, would have been nicer with a color to not make it so dark even when light is turned on.

Cool place I was in an 18 person dorm but it wasn't full and I had a great time here, didn't find it very social but I wasn't looking for that either. I found the common areas and my little pod really clean a few other reviews mention bed bugs and I think its quite hit or miss whether you get a clean bed, I did luckily but was paranoid at night about bed bugs. so didnt sleep well. Before you come here learn the signs of bed bugs and check your bed pod here before you get in. The sleeping area was super quiet though felt private. I had a great time in lyon its a great city and this hotel is well located. Big lockers too.

The location is quite challenging to reach if you take the bus C13 from Lyon Part Dieu. You will be met with some serious stairs and more steep hill after. Once. you are there, the check in and open space is modern and cool. Most staff are nice and some are quite rude. I had a 8 female dorm and all had curtains. My gripe is witht the beds. The head clearance for bottom bunk is insanely low and i am quite short. I cant imagine if you are tall or big person. Then, you make your bed, which is fine, but when you do, you will be met with a thin plywood board underneath that will pop up if you move one side or the other. What the heck? The low clearance and board popping up is a stupid design and painful to hit your head while trying to make your bed. They also do not seem to clean the bathrooms regularly. I stayed for 3 days and it stayed the same and the trash just piled up. Some of the staff are a bit rude and others are just great and kind. I met Noam and Alice at night and they could not be kinder. When i asked for their names, everyone got super paranoid and wanted to know why. No need to know if you are doing your job well.
