A lovely hotel! Not a 5* boutique.
The pros noted by others do stand for the most part, but 5* boutique suggests intimacy & attentiveness, that was not our experience:
- Cold welcome - on arrival, we were told the only way to check in is via an app (eh?) zero human interaction, we were not told anything about the hotel, the area or recommendations. There was a whole basement area we didn’t discover until the last day.
- 2 cocktails to the room took over 30 minutes. We didn’t order again.
- surprisingly had to explain that vegans don’t eat eggs, even after doing so thoroughly I was brought an omelette.
- I was refused a cup of tea at 10pm because ‘the coffee machine had been turned off and there are no other sources of hot water’. A simple request any 5* establishment should handle with no questions asked.
- The kitchen extractor fan on the outside of the building made the balcony smell of fried grease, it was so strong that we couldn’t use the balcony in the evenings while the hotel was preparing dinner. Maybe this is just the case for room 1211, shouldn’t be for any.
Not tragic, but the aesthetics are ‘try hard’ for the quality of the service - we certainly won’t be returning! All the best.
