The Pilot amphora is a beautiful hotel with amazing architecture and the aesthetic is gorgeous. We (young couple) stayed for 7 nights in an indulge room with private pool. The room itself was gorgeous, the bed is extremely comfortable and the private pool was a great size but very cold and was always full of dead insects which can’t really be helped due to the trees above. The location is great and shops restaurants and bars are within walking distance. We also dined at the sister hotel buffet which was surprisingly really good and great value. Our only complaint is the overall attitude of the staff, some were helpful but most are very quiet and reserved and some seemed cold towards us. When we arrived late in the evening we didn’t get a welcome drink and were just handed our key and made to find our room ourselves. The cleaning staff also took/threw out one of our possessions without asking during our room cleaning. Overall we would return but would recommend a room without a pool as it wasn’t worth the extra expense in our opinion.

Wonderful, small and quiet boutique hotel situated close to the centre of Georgioupolis and a few minutes walk to both beach and shops/restaurants. The rooms are modern and stylish, the beds comfy and the shower is amazing. Food is great, breakfast is buffet style with lots of choice and dinner is 5 courses (with options for those who don’t want to eat meat or fish). The thing that really makes this place special though is the staff. They are friendly and thoughtful, professional, kind and hardworking - nothing is too much trouble from the cleaners to the multitasking front desk/hospitality team. They are led brilliantly by Panos, the hotel manager. |We recommend taking the local bus to Rethymno and asking the hotel to organise e-bikes (we had a great half day out exploring the local area and the bikes made easy work of the hills so we could benefit from some amazing views/scenery). |We did visit the sister hotel Pilot Beach located on the other side of Georgioupolis - but it was very loud and busy - and we couldn’t wait to return to the quiet sanctuary of Pilot Amphora. |Thanks to Panos and his great team for a wonderful relaxing holiday.

Recently returned from a weeks holiday staying at the Pilot Amphora. The hotel stay was excellent from start to finish. The manager was visible and approachable every day, ensuring all was well and he and all his team worked hard with attention to detail and in a calm, courteous and unhurried manner. The food was great, particularly the buffet breakfast which had lots of choice and all fresh and tasty including the choice of eggs cooked to order. Our room was very comfortable and a good size and the shower was perfect. Rooms were cleaned daily to a high standard. The location of the hotel is great on the periphery of the town and was very quiet and peaceful. I would certainly recommend this hotel and would also love to return in the future.

A lovely hotel! Not a 5* boutique. The pros noted by others do stand for the most part, but 5* boutique suggests intimacy & attentiveness, that was not our experience: - Cold welcome - on arrival, we were told the only way to check in is via an app (eh?) zero human interaction, we were not told anything about the hotel, the area or recommendations. There was a whole basement area we didn’t discover until the last day. - 2 cocktails to the room took over 30 minutes. We didn’t order again. - surprisingly had to explain that vegans don’t eat eggs, even after doing so thoroughly I was brought an omelette. - I was refused a cup of tea at 10pm because ‘the coffee machine had been turned off and there are no other sources of hot water’. A simple request any 5* establishment should handle with no questions asked. - The kitchen extractor fan on the outside of the building made the balcony smell of fried grease, it was so strong that we couldn’t use the balcony in the evenings while the hotel was preparing dinner. Maybe this is just the case for room 1211, shouldn’t be for any. Not tragic, but the aesthetics are ‘try hard’ for the quality of the service - we certainly won’t be returning! All the best.

We traveled with a couple of friends and we all had the same experience: This stay was One of the best vacations we have ever had.||Everything was absolutely outstanding!!||The breakfast buffet was well presented with all you could wish for including very very good coffee free of choices as well as different kinds of eggs prepared by the chef next to the bar area. ||The 5 courses dinner every evening was absolutely amazing: tasteful and very beautiful arranged at the plates. We definitely recommend to try this. Big/huge compliments to the chef.||Spacious rooms which were very beautiful decorated . The rooms were cleaned every day, fresh new towels every day and not to forget: free body lotion, shower gel and shampoo of top quality.. The cleaning ladies did a very good job even though they were busy all day long.||The pool area was beautiful placed in the center of the hotel - all peaceful and luxurious - and plenty of possibilities to find a spot in the sun in a comfortable sun lounger. || But most of all the manager Panos and all his staff made this vacation unforgettable for us. The service was over the top EVERY day. Friendly, helpful, familiar, smiling and good for a joke too - we definitely felt welcome and part of a small “family” ||Our very very best recommendation to this hotel. You will not regret to go visit this place. ||So again: a huge THANK YOU to all of you at the Pilot Amphora Boutique Hotel and thanks for taking so good care of us - hopefully we will see you again

There isn't much I can add that others haven't already mentioned but I must say that this hotel is pretty close to perfect. The staff and the rooms are as fabulous as many others have said. It had a coffee machine, balcony and fabulous shower that was as hot as you wanted, when you wanted! It has a lovely pool and seating area, but what made it extra special for us was the food. We were half board and fully expected a buffet of an evening in keeping with our previous trips to Greece but this was a la carte and although not everything was amazing or delicious, most things were. We have never had food as good in any Mediterranean hotel.|The hotel is very well situated for the town centre and although its not on the beach the relationship with the "sister" Pilot Beach hotel meant you could stroll along the beach and use their loungers/ umbrellas and facilities. You can also choose to dine there if you were to decide the a la carte at the Pilot Amphora isn't for you or you just want a change. The restaurants at the Pilot Beach are buffet. This can all be done via the hotel app which ideally you should download asap as you do need to book dinner each day and this is easier to do via the app. The app also contains a lot of extra information. There is a shuttle bus between the two hotels should you not fancy the walk along he beach (about 15-20 mins). |If you do use the beach facilities at the Pilot Beach don't forget to try the smaller Kalivaki Beach at least once. We loved this smaller beach (you can rent loungers and an umbrella for 8 euro) and particularly watching the Kingfishers flying around near where the river joins the sea.|Georgioplois itself is lovely. Much quieter than its bigger neighbours and for us still retaining the charm we first discovered in the Greece of the 1980s. The town and the Hotel were almost entirely occupied by German tourists, which we prefer, but English was still the predominant language and the staff in the shops and restaurants all spoke English. |I would say however that late October might not be the best time to visit. In our second week the mountains to the South of the village were almost completely covered in cloud which meant that so too was Georgiopolis. An option would be to hire a car and visit the smaller resorts on the South coast. We did this and had full sunshine everyday. Unfortunately the staff at the hotel did not mention this, but luckily we had discovered that the south of the island has much better weather late in the season on a previous visit.|We also took the bus to both Chania and Rethymeno. The hotel is only around 10 mins from the bus stop and the buses were cheap and efficient, though only run hourly. It was 3.7E to Rethymno and 4.7E to Chania (one way).

As a frequent visitor to Amphora’s sister hotel ,Pilot Beach Resort, we were unsure what to expect from this small boutique hotel. To say we were extremely impressed would be an understatement! Everything was exceptional. The hotel is very small with only 34 rooms so therefore there was a smaller number of staff which really created a ‘family’ atmosphere. Everyone works tirelessly to ensure that the hotel is presented in the best way possible, from the wonderful housekeeping team, the amazing chefs and the front of house staff. |We had a first floor Indulge room which was spotless. The bed was so comfy and the waterfall shower was incredible. Each room has a safe/air-con and a Nespresso machine. The swimming pool and bar area were very intimate with gentle music piped around. As this is an adults only hotel, it was peaceful and relaxing with no-one ‘hogging’ sun beds! There were plenty of sun beds for everyone. You can order drinks to have around the pool or sit in the shady bar area too. The hotel also has a snack menu where you can choose from sandwiches, pizza, etc throughout the day. The food at the hotel was excellent. Breakfast was a mix of buffet with an ‘a la carte’ egg menu if you fancied something different. Freshly squeezed orange juice was complimentary every morning and champagne was included every Sunday too. The evening meal consisted of 5 courses! Soup/entree (usually with fish)/salad/main course with a choice of meat, fish or vegetarian option and dessert. All were delicious.|Being in the heart of the village was great as it meant you could find more entertainment if you wanted it and it was lovely to be able to walk around in the evenings absorbing the vibe. |Amphora provide a daily shuttle bus to Pilot Beach to enable guests to make use of their facilities too (great if you fancy a bit of aqua-gym each day) including the free sun beds at the beach. If you stay in the village, a set of beds with a brolly and table by the beach was approximately €8 -€10 per day. |We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Amphora and came home feeling totally relaxed. Would definitely recommend the hotel if you want peace and quiet on your holiday.

This was our second stay in this hotel for our summer holidays. As last year, we had great time here. The hotel is well located in Georgioupolis, it is very quite and peaceful and close to the beach. It is very clean, the food is good from breakfast to diner. What is the most important is the kindness of all the staff (cleaners, waiters and manager). You feel even better than at home. We fall in love with this place and will come back for sure.
