Pinacoteca Civica di Ancona

A typical small regional pinacoteca. I saw several excellent paintings by Francesco Podesti and some less well known Italian painters of regional significance. There was also a temporary exhibition of modern art, which was quite interesting and some metalwork. All in all, it is worth spending an hour in this museum and the ticket price is very reasonable.

Wonderful museum with great works of great masters (Tizian, Lotto, Olivuccio, Crivelli etc) and local artist Podesti. No tourists, good pictures - the best place in Ancona!

While this is a small collection, it has some wonderful works, including three by Corrado Cagli, who was born in Ancona. The staff was extremely generous in hunting a book down for me too. Interesting juxtaposition of older and contemporary works. Local mannerist Lilli well represented.

It has a lot of archeological instruments like old knives which were kind of sharped stone.
