Yesterday I had a pleasure to visit Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo and it was much more interesting than i thought. Before visiting I did some research and found out that it is not vary big gallery but that it mostly houses works of venetian and lombardyan artists (Raphael, Vincenzo Foppa, Giovanni Girolamo Savoldo, Romanino, Moretto da Brescia, Lorenzo Lotto, Giacomo Ceruti, Antonio Cifrondi, Andrea Appiani, Francesco Hayez, Antonio Canova, Bertel Thorvaldsen and Luigi Basiletti to name some). Upon arriving I discovered that some gallery in Genoa has loaned a work by the iconic Peter Paul Rubens (Portrait of Giovanni Carlo Doria on Horseback to be precise) and it was absolutely mesmerising. They also had some loaned works by Duch artist Matthias Stom which were also stunning especially “The Incredulity of St Thomas”. The museum itself is not vary big but definitely bigger than i thought, the price of tickets is 15€ per person and 8€ if you are under 26 which i think is completely acceptable. If you are visiting Brescia I would definitely recommend you pay Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo a visit and not only that rather I would say that it is a must see if you are visiting Brescia

The Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo stands out as one of Europe's finest art galleries. The level of detail in each room and the generous space dedicated to every artwork elevate it to another level entirely. Visiting is a true pleasure, allowing admirers to fully immerse themselves in the masterpieces within a meticulously cared-for environment. The extensive restoration of the site, completed in 2018, combined with the exceptional quality of the works, delivers a standard rarely matched by other pinacotecas. This gem is an absolute must during any trip to Brescia and obligatory for art lovers.

Absolutely fabulous art gallery displaying brescian style art from middle ages to 18th century. Located in a palazzo, the walls of each room are covered in vibrant fabric that perfectly reflect the art. I have not seen this style before; it really makes a statement about the sense of colour.

Very impressive exhibit, looks like Italian renaissance artists spared no color on their work! It is not very big, in an hour and a half you can walk around it and not be tired. One of the rooms is devoted to Raphael's works which is definitely worth to see

To be honest I’m not a huge fan of endless galleries where you can see tens of similar artworks, which is why this one was ideal for me. The gallery is organised really well, with just a few artworks in each room. There are explanations of the art inspiration and times they were created at the beginning each room, which is interesting as it adds basic understanding of the works you’re looking at. The artworks are impressive and the way they are exhibited in the different coloured rooms adds grandeur and nice taste to the whole museum. I highly recommend visiting this place.

A compact, robust gem of a painting gallery with truly outstanding works by Moretto, Romanino, Savoldo, Raphael and others. The newly renovated galleries are accentuated by a truly bold choice of velvet wall coverings, shocking at first but ultimately successful. A free audio guide is also available through an app, though some of the selections didn’t seem to be available. Everyone was very friendly, and there is a charming piazza out front. No cafe that I saw, just a small bookstore. Well worth a visit for appreciation of unsung masterpieces from Brescian painters!

First in the gallery and had it mostly to myself. Not too big to overwhelm but there are plenty of top class artworks. Raphaello and Canova and art from the region.
