The hotel has lots of old quaint character and plenty of places to relax by the pool (very cold!) or in armchairs on the patio or next to the room. It’s a 25 minute walk to the town centre and although there are some restaurants nearer we were warned not to be strolling outside after 9pm. There are buses but they only operate once an hour so a car or taxis are really needed. It was great to chat to other guests on the long table for breakfast but there isn’t a choice for the main option in case you’re looking for bacon and eggs every day! There were a few things that just let the service down. We had to ask for replacement milk, bathroom shampoo and soap and our bins to be emptied. We were told the cleaning staff were new but a quick check by the supervisor would have quickly solved the problem. Unfortunately my shoes trailed quite a lot of sand along the corridor and up the stairs, not intentionally, but I was told by the manager she was having to clear up after me! On check out I advised we had taken some crisps and miniature pringles and told were $15 only to discover I had been charged for chips not crisps, and should have been $10. Mistakes are made but it was how it was communicated that it was my fault, with no apologies, that irked me. There was no how have you enjoyed your 6 night stay and was everything ok when we left hence why I’m writing this review. The hotel is nice but those little service touches need improvement!

Trust the reviews, this place is fantastic! From the minute we walked in we were made to feel welcome. The property is a sanctuary in the middle of Broome. Gorgeous grounds, nice pool area, spacious rooms, delicious home cooked breakfast but what really made it special was the effort our hosts went to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Especially Ronaldo who takes great pride in making sure you have the perfect stay and that your travels after are filled with great experiences (ask him for tips about WA- he’s a font of great ideas). He’s a super star!! We extended our stay twice because we loved it so much and will definitely be back again.

Lovely getaway where you can feel at home and meet other guests. The breakfast, service and pool are awesome. You can walk to the brewery and night market, but for cable beach etc. it’s better to have a car as it’s a bit too far to walk and the bus wasn’t very reliable in our case. Or just stay af the pool :)

So glad we chose McAlpine House! After we’d visited several hotels we were grateful we’d made this choice. Charming turn of the century homestead that’s been renovated into a guest house, while keeping the tropical ambience. Garden Room was plenty big with a King bed. Used the patio for morning yoga, but otherwise enjoyed the grounds when we wanted to have a break outside – plenty of shady and comfortable spots. Shower is huge, towels and sheets quality. In room fridge with complimentary tea and coffee via kettle (incl milk for tea/coffee). Breakfast does not offer choices (this is a B&B, not a hotel), but the food is great and cooked to any dietary needs. And there’s fresh baked sourdough, loose leaf tea and excellent coffee. We enjoyed meeting fellow guests at breakfast, too. The pool looked lovely and well maintained but we weren’t there enough to use it. Staff is super friendly, as is the little corgie. It’s an easy 20 minute walk to Chinatown or 10-15 to the Museum and Town Beach. You’ll need a taxi to get to Cable Beach ($30!! And it’s $20 to the airport!); taxis here are not cheap. The bus service is sporadic at best; we did ride it once from Cable Beach, but it was 50 minutes behind schedule! Having gone to Cable Beach twice, we were glad we had chosen this location instead of over there. Several VERY good restaurants within 5-10 min walking distance, plus whatever’s in Chinatown. I think all others you would have to taxi, but you would also have to taxi from Cable Beach. Super friendly and helpful staff.

All out outstanding! Do yourself a favor and save your bucks you would otherwise spend on the big, expensive resorts and book this hotel immediately. The staff went out of their ways to accommodate us and gave us dozens of tips on things to do in and around of Broome. The breakfast was exceptional, the atmosphere was beautiful. The best hotel I‘ve ever been to in Australia.

Fabulous house nestled in large trees and generous privacy this adult only stay was a perfect choice for our Honeymoon destination. We were humbled every morning with a cooked breakfast by our wonderful hosts. We were very well looked after, from complimentary Champagne and cheese plate on arrival to in house laundry service and experience bookings made on our behalf. Highly recommended!

Amazing hotel! The staff has helped us from day one very proactively planning our stay there. The room is perfectly clean and nice with a lot of charme and the pool area is beautiful too! And I haven't even started with the breakfast. Absolutely fantastic hotel, 10/10!

We really enjoyed our stay at McAlpine House. It's a lovely building in a quiet residential area. The owner is a delightful lady - friendly and accommodating and so helpful with suggestions of things to do and places to eat. ||Our room was comfortable, with a lovely bathroom which was both modern and spacious. We did have some difficulty finding space to put things as there wasn't a great deal of floor space and the wardrobe wasn't shelved. A minor inconvenience, though and understandable when an old building's converted.||Breakfasts were good and had a different cooked element each day, although it was unusual not to be offered fruit juice. |The main plus is simply the "feel" of the property. There are plenty of places to sit and relax, if you have the time. The pool and its surroundings are lovely. ||This is a great location if you prefer to be away from the main tourist area but still want to visit Cable Beach. There is a regular bus service throughout the day and plenty of taxis available if you don't have a car. Nearby are a couple of good, lively restaurants and bars. The town beach jetty area is a pleasant place to wander and the Broome Historical Museum is well worth a visit. The jetty to jetty trail makes an interesting walk, too.||Thoroughly recommended!
