My family and I have been a guest at the Pine Ridge Inn for a number of years, continuing to support them since they are one of the last remaining locally owned hotels in Bend. We have always had a pleasant experience, and I will not neglect to mention that the rooms are quite spacious, the continental breakfast and fireplaces in each room are a nice touch, and we feel the location (about 5 minutes by car or 30 minutes by foot) to downtown Bend is perfect. These are among the reasons that keep us coming back to the Pine Ridge Inn after all these years! I also want to give a special shout-out to Ginny, who is incredibly helpful and has never failed to provide wonderful restaurant suggestions in the area after all these years. Thanks, Ginny!||Unfortunately, I witnessed something I haven't seen in several decades (!) upon a recent visit to the inn, that seemed serious enough to merit a review. My family was coming downstairs for the hotel's breakfast and somehow must have been quiet enough, down the stairs, that the woman at the front desk didn't notice us. She was sitting behind the front desk, perhaps looking at her phone or something behind the counter, and was SMOKING...yes, on shift, visible to the public, and inside the property. When she finally saw us a few feet away, she went to extinguish her " HABIT " and waved away the smoke, perhaps to cover it up. Of course, it was not my place to comment -- what good can one guest do -- and I was also not 100 % certain that smoking is forbidden inside. (A simple Google search confirmed this) I do not wish to exaggerate the scale of this --- but I felt it was only proper to comment so that future guests may be aware of this hotel's policy on smoking. If they accept employees smoking on shift, who is to say what goes on elsewhere on the property!||Thankfully there were my family's 4 sets of eyes that could confirm the sighting. But, these suspicions were also confirmed the next day, when we were returning from a hike and noticed a man talking to Ginny downstairs. He, too, had apparently witnessed this same employee smoking and was politely talking to Ginny discussing what he observed. Unfortunately, I did not have the time to make a similar complaint, and perhaps I should have done so instead of posting more 'publicily' here, but it seemed worthwhile to, at the very least, have a record. Thank you.
