It was our first trip to Utah and we fell in love with the place. We stayed here for several days and did the first part of the trip before heading south to Zion NP. We hiked, did Capitol Reef NP, rock hounded near Hanksville, played all day at Goblin Valley, played in the dirt, hiked some more, and made this lil gem our base camp. We went north, south and every other possible direction. We did 9 mile canyon, and the whole trip down to Escalante. Some days we went 100 miles in a direction and came back late at night, tired but totally blissed out. It was a perfect base camp for 9 days. Way better than a hotel. WAY better.
Steve and Debbie are wonderful hosts, the place was absolutely immaculate and they checked in on a regular basis to make sure all was well. If it's your first time, know the local restaurants around are ok but nothing knocked my socks off, so grab something at the grocery store and throw a burger on the grill one night too. There's a great little coffee house in town, the name escapes me, but it was a nice way to spend an afternoon with a book when we wanted a break from the trail for a day. The cabins are pretty remote, and sometimes I had phone connection, others I didn't. I enjoyed not having it more :)
Overall though, this is a place to enjoy the outdoors, and I can't think of a better place to crash at night than these lovely cabins. We got some groceries and had breakfast in the cabin most mornings, used the dorm room sized fridge to keep stuff to make a lunch for hiking, then had dinner out most nights. It was a good mix of the best of all worlds.
Pricing was very reasonable, the beds were way comfy, the little town was quiet and the whole experience was lovely. I can't say enough good things about Steve and Debbie. Don't hesitate to book with them, you won't be disappointed.
