Great place to fish, hike, camp, bbq, mountain bike and so much more. Your Utah state park pass won’t work here, neither will your national park pass. You still need to pay an entrance fee. But it is much cooler here than in Washington county Utah during the summer. I highly recommend this for family day trips or short outings. There is a restroom in the first parking lot on your left after you enter the park.

Pine Valley offers some truly majestic mountain scenery just a short drive from St George - a great respite from the heat in the warmer months and a great place for fall foliage when the lower elevations are still baking. There is a great network of paved walking trails that circle the reservoir. A great number of locals fish here - from what I could tell they were catching quite a bit!

Gorgeous valley with lots of water and green meadows. Wonderful place if you like to fish or go for a peacefully walk. If you like to dip feet in the creek as you enjoy sunset ,it will do as well. Much cooler than surrounding area but summer tends to be over 90F up there. By end of the summer there is tons of cows wondering around meadow. They make a bit of noise at night but it's quickly forgotten as you look at surroundings. Love it!!

I’d almost rather not post a review so that this place remains a hidden gem! It was an absolute lovely camping weekend on these beautiful grounds. Wonderful camping spot and nice camp hosts. Well spaced out, no hook ups. The lake had some great fishing (trout). The trails around were really nice and easy to just wander about. We (surprisingly) saw no wildlife but did hear the coyotes at night.

Such a great, peaceful place. The weather is great especially if you are trying to get away from the Las Vegas heat. It would be gorgeous with all the snow in the winter. There is a nice little pond that people were fishing in. There is also a 100% paved trail that you can hike or bike. You can also go camping here. We will definitely be back!

Great place for Camping, Fishing and Hiking. We took a walk along the paved trail of the Santa Clara River, was just wonderful. If going by yourself or with the whole family, you will enjoy the time. You should definitely check this place out, so worth it.

I've always loved this area, and having grown up around it - it has always been the spot to picnic, sled when there's snow, and explore. Be warned, back when I was 11, my 6 year old sister and I ran down the mountain side to where we thought our picnic/family was and ended up getting about 2/3's of a mile off and very very lost and scared. Be careful with children.

The Lake is a good size for fishing maybe kayaking. I went around April and the weather is great for hiking also mountain biking.

Yelp
Not too far outside of the St. George area, you'll find an entirely different terrain-no longer the red rocks and dirt, but tall, lush trees, a stream and a respectable sized reservoir. This is Pine Valley-located in Dixie National Forest (yes, there's a fee-$8 per vehicle). There are picnic areas and space for fishing. At the guard station, there's a handwritten sign telling visitors not to be a "fishnicker"....I inquired about this new word and learned that it's a person who comes to fish but parks their vehicle in a picnic spot, making it unavailable for people who want to picnic there. Makes sense-if you're here to fish, park in the fishing area and leave the picnic tables to people who will use them. There are several walking/hiking trails and they are beautiful! We did the Santa Clara River Walkway which was an easy walk through the trees with pretty views. There's plenty of available parking at the trailhead and clean bathrooms before you start your hike.

Yelp
Definitely our favorite spot to get away from the 100 degree weather in Vegas during summer. It's about 2 1/2 hour drive from Vegas so it's not that far of a drive. Great place to picnic and grill with family. We usually bring our portable gas stove and do a little bit of cooking while my boyfriend enjoys fishing.

Yelp
First off the government website says $6 and they charge $8, which doesn't even give you a map. The camp hosts is extremely rude , yelled at for stopping in the camping area even thought it was completely empty. Has some sort of an ego problem. The staff here is all rude.

Yelp
The first time I heard about this place is through a friend. We finally made it here yesterday. Pine Valley Recreation Area is located in Pine Valley, Utah. The valley is on a higher elevation so it's provides a nice escape from the heat of the southern Utah desert. The scenery is spectacular. Very pristine with abundance of nature and wildlife. Activities includes fishing camping, hiking and more. You will see beautiful forest of ponderosa pine, oak, juniper, Mountain mahogany and sagebrush surrounds the landscape. Hiking and horse trails vary in length from 2 to 35 miles. Some trails allow mountain biking. Shoreline fishing for rainbow trout is a popular activity on the lake. We had a picnic, make sure you bring bug spray as well as water and snacks and other essentials. We did not see anyone at the entrance so we didn't pay for day use. We saw few campers. The restrooms are clean and wifi service is spotty. Great place for nature lovers.

Yelp
Beautiful lake and nice campgrounds. When you get to Pine Valley, turn right from the highway and by the church turn left and go, eventually you will get to the lake. Lake is very small but has clean water and lot of trout. Lot if campgrounds there. No beach there, so no swimming, just enjoy the scenery. Nearby Navajo lake is bigger and ok for swimming, but more wild.

Yelp
Beautiful and immaculate! Loved the size and positioning of the campsites.
