Again not many options on fire island so not much competition…The food is mediocre but good upscale option for the pines to have. Staff is always friendly atmosphere is nice.

We went there in september food was not outspoken for what the interior let it look like. they made it look chique when actually the food was just average you pay for the interior clearly and on top of that they confused our order so we payed 70 dollar from someone’s elses order and they said they would deposit the money but we’ve never received it till this day a bit sad.

The paella special was 💯. Enjoyed the wedge and chicken milanese, but don’t ignore the specials!

Outstanding and unusual. Much like Fire Island itself. Order one of the specials.

So picture this: we arrive in the pines from Cherry Grove, my wife goes upstairs to see if there's a table available at The bistro. They say no, there's not a table available until 9:00. This is about over an hour wait. So then we send a male companion upstairs to see if he can get a table. He can get a table immediately. Boy when we arrived did these guys look embarrassed. Having said that the food was quite good and the server we had was very good. Females be aware, you may not want to eat at this place. My opinion, extremely misogynistic. Oh, a friend told me to say "PJ train your staff".

Didn't feel welcome, we were first to arrive, and got the "last" non reservation table. There were 8 tables available the whole time we were there, but thankfully we got the last. Whew! The plates weren't warm and the food wasn't either. Meh overall, should have stuck with the free options we brought with us.

We found the restaurant almost by accident. It’s not easy to find, they could do a better job of making themselves known. It’s the only real sit down restaurant in the pines. The food was good, there was nothing wrong with anything, I just think it had a lot more potential. We got the seafood spaghetti and the steak. It was good. Prices are above average, similar to top of the bay, but not as nice of a place. The best word I can describe this place is normal.

Even though this is the only dedicated restaurant space in the Pines, it's not bad. The food is good (not outstanding) and the atmosphere is nice enough. It's pricier than it should be but that's to expected given the location. I would definitely recommend it for anyone looking to take a night off from cooking.

Yelp
Located on the second floor this delightful small restaurant is the perfect spot for a nice sit down dinner. Our food was delicious and the martinis were great. Make sure you book a reservation online.

Yelp
Friendly service and a nice space which feels like a very conventional upscale classic Italian restaurant. There were virtually no vegan options other than by modifying two dishes and they did not offer gluten free pasta -- which has come to be almost expected in Italian restaurants. I was hoping for a little more. There is no menu listed on their website but it generally follows a very traditional italian menu style.

Yelp
I accidentally found this little gem of a restaurant, and I could not be happier with it. The staff were so friendly and so helpful! The restaurant is located on the second floor of the main pavilion. As you walk into the restaurant you are greeted by a beautiful room, the purple wall color was truly beautiful. The restaurant has a lovely wine list. I had the pinot noir and found it quite good. I found the menu extensive and very accommodating for vegetarians and vegans. I got the vegan "salmon" over vegetables. I really liked this dish, the asian flavors really shown through. The portion size was also very very generous. For dessert I had the NY Cheesecake. It was to die for. Overall This restaurant is my new favorite Pines place to dine!

Yelp
Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. Our server Gio worked hard to make the birthday dinner an enjoyable event. Pines Bistro does a good job keeping reservations on-schedule without making diners feel rushed. One of the managers graciously offered us a drink at the bar as we were paying the bill which was both a nice touch and kept the next reservation on schedule. Diners need to be sure to confirm phone bookings since only requests are taken by voicemail. We will definitely return.

Yelp
No menu shown on their site. The last time I ate there I told the waiter I was vegetarian. Because I was alone they made me sit outside which I didn't I want. They served me meat and because it was so dark on the deck I ate a bit. I complained The waiter never returned and someone much later just handled me the check, No apologies

Yelp
AMAZING! Sat our party of 9 and every single person raves about their food! Top favorites were the tuna, the penne Alla Vodka and the Rig with sausage

Yelp
Four of us dined here last night, it was DELICIOUS!! Thai calamari was light and very flavorful. The mussels/clams appetizer was outstanding, we asked for more bread to mop up every last bit of the delicious brothy sauce.. Caesar salad was perfect (i would have loved a few anchovies) We order the Ahi Tuna entree The Seafood pasta entree both were very very good. The standout was the eggplant parm w/a side of penne.... All four of us agreed this was the BEST eggplant we have ever eaten..... And big shout out to our fabulous waiter Mike:). Warm, friendly, attentive, and makes the most perfect Cosmo!!! Thank you Chef and all at the Bistro for a fantastic evening!!

Yelp
This is a hidden gem! We had visited the pines for a weekend and were looking for a restaurant in the area. We had tried every dish on the menu and each one was spectacular! Because of the amazing food we cancelled all other restaurants for the weekend and only ate here. The waiters were friendly and fun. I highly recommend checking them out.

Yelp
Came here with some friends on a Friday night to grab a bite to eat for dinner on the later side (9:30 pm). We called for a reservation so we were able to be seated right away. To start off the meal, they bring out crisped bread with a tangy fruit salsa that was decent and a nice way to start the meal. I also ordered a caesar salad and the whole table split an order of the calamari--both of which were a good size and had good flavor. I especially enjoyed the lemon dipping sauce for the calamari. For my main entree, I decided to go with the chicken and artichokes. While there was not a lot of groundbreaking flavors in this dish, the combination of everything went together really well and provided a nice bite. Overall, the ambiance here is great and the service is friendly. The food is a bit overpriced--especially for entrees, but they are a decent size and well done.

Yelp
Service was wonderful. Specials fantastic. Too many tomato sauce entrees. This is my go to in the Pines. Not cheap though.

Yelp
Don't come if you want to eat. They never have anything but pasta. All the good things are always sold out. Horrible experience and service each time we come. The only reason we keep trying is because it's a monopoly and the one owner pj has cornered the market and we live here as homeowners and is clueless.

Yelp
Good food for sure, but a dog dining at the adjacent table? Really? Was bad enough that in a nearly empty restaurant our reservation landed us at the table right by the entry. However, when the 4th party to enter was seated right next to us, with a dog that soon was removed from its carrying case, the dog ended up roaming on the bench-seat to neighboring table, and sitting in the owners lap. In most towns that's a Health Dept violation. In any town that's gross. As punishment, upon our request to be reseated, we were given the table by the kitchen door and restroom. The food was definitely good. Our crew had mains of Rigatoni with Sausage and Pasta Primavera. Dessert of NY Cheesecake and Flourless Chocolate Cake were great. Our server Paul M dropped the check on the table while we were still finishing desserts. Tacky, as no one was waiting to get seated. $25 corkage is steep. But happy that I brought our own wine, given the options/prices on their list. If I was the host, I would have at least apologized for the inconvenience posed by the dog. Oh well, it's pretty clear we won't be back!

Yelp
We had a reservation for this restaurant, located next to Sip-n-Twirl, but we had another friend who joined us. The manager made us wait for 30 minutes so he can plan it out and seat us. I look around the restaurant and see there were 3-4 empty tables, so I don't understand what was so hard with seating 3 people at a table and making us wait for 30 minutes? We finally got seated and ordered our food, and let me say, the fod here is absolutely delicious. From the bruschetta they serve you at the beginning, which I was addicted to, to the crabcakes, and the mussels. The food immediately took away the bad mood I had from waiting, and I would definitely be coming back here. But the manager needs to plan better for situations like this.

Yelp
So amazing! Everything was delicious! The portions were very generous and it was reasonably priced! Will use again!

Yelp
The Bolognese is excellent and I always have the Caesar as my starter. We brought a cake Saturday night for my friend Justin's Birthday and they were very nice to cut and serve it at no charge. Actually surprised the reviews aren't better. We've been a dozen times over the years and the service is always great.

Yelp
Went for dinner and was pleasantly surprised. The staff was cordial, the service efficient and the food was delicious. We started out with the crab cakes and Caesar salad. The crab cakes were incredible; the Caesar was ok - a bit on the bland side but still good. We had the chicken Parmesan and the carbonara. The pasta was done to perfection and the flavors were rich without being overwhelming - we'd definitely order them again. All in all this was a great dinner! Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
We've dined here a few times over the course of the season and have found it overall very good, which one would expect at these prices! However, last night was rather disappointing. Perhaps their head chef left after Labor Day? Our food (Chicken & Asparagus, and Rigatoni w/ Chicken in Vodka Sauce) were both overly salty. Service continues to be very courteous and efficient.
