How to Plan the Perfect Trip to Universal Studios Hollywood

"I appreciated the easy access to a CityWalk outpost of the legendary Pink's Hot Dogs, bringing its iconic menu to visitors without needing a park ticket." - Carly Caramanna Carly Caramanna Carly Caramanna is a theme park and travel journalist who has spent her professional career in New York City, Nashville, and Los Angeles. 😀We spent the day at Universal Studios and chose to have dinner at City Walk, after the park closed. City Walk is right next door to Universal Studios Hollywood and is full of little shops and restaurants, ✨The night view with all the neon signs is really beautiful. There are 2 levels at City Walk. Most of the businesses upstairs are fast food restaurants. It is set-up like a food court. Many of the restaurants have a couple of tables inside where you order. There are many more tables set-up just outside each restaurant for bigger parties or if you and your friends and family each want something different to eat and then all meet back at a table to eat together and people-watch the crowds below. 🌭Pink's Hot Dog is one of your dining choices. They are open for lunch and dinner. It will probably cost you about $20-$25 for a hot dog(or burger), fries, and a drink. But, just to be fair, all the restaurants on this level will cost about the same per person. I ordered the Chili Dog and fries combo. The employee who helped me was very friendly. My order was ready in about 5 minutes. The chili dog had-Mustard, diced onions, and chili. the fries seemed to be seasoned. It was a good meal. 😋

It was pretty cool to go to a Pink's Hot Dog location. They have a lot of pictures on the wall typically of celebrities that have gone there. The food wasn't very good quality, and very pricy for the quality of the food and service experience that we got

A friend was surprised I’ve never had Pink’s so we ate here after seeing a movie. I had the chili cheese dog and he had the chili cheese fries. Other than the bun being ever so slightly stale (friend said they use better buns at the og location?) I thought it was great.

Atmosphere- 3 stars- This is located on the upper level of City Walk. Very small inside with few tables. More tables outside that are shared with the other fast food options. Service- not the friendliest or welcoming employees on the day we went but they did serve us in a timely manner. Food- We got a Mulholland Drive dog (bacon, chili, mushrooms and onions) and a chili cheese dog. Both were good but really messy. Need lots of napkins. Fries were good as well. I’m sure there are better Pinks locations in the area.

I got the 12" el cucuy with fries and a coke. The total for these three items was $31.22. I thought, for that price it better be good. It wasn't. The jalapeño dog was just off. The flavor was kind of like a kielbasi, but over concentrated or over done, I could not determine. The bacon was chewy and also had an off flavor. The rest of the condiments did nothing to support the flavor profiles. It was like they just threw a bunch of things together and never tasted it before they put it on the menu. Pinks was recommended by my tour guide. Maybe a plain dog would have been better, but I won't risk another trip . One star.

My friends and I each ordered the Betty White combo. The cashier double checked we understood we were buying naked hot dogs (which we did). The hotdogs themselves were pretty decent. The fries were really good. We enjoyed sitting at the tables outside. We visited on a Wednesday so it was pretty quiet. The service was fast and the food was light enough to not cause us problems in Universal Studios.

I recently visited Pink's Hot Dogs at Universal Studios LA and ordered the Nacho Cheese Chili Fries. The flavor was good, and the chili had a nice kick, but the cheese was a bit too much for my liking—it overpowered the other ingredients. Overall, still a tasty snack, but a little less cheese would have made it perfect.

Honestly worst food I ate, I wanted to pick it because of the reputation. But hot dog is way below average, fries were cold when I went back because I wanted hot fries they looked at me weird, but took 10 minutes to get my fries after 10 other people and after I finished my food. Honestly worst food I tried in years. I wouldn’t recommend eating here. One hot dog for $10 is crazy because cosco hot dogs are 10 times better and not as sloppy and dry like this one.
