Went to Pino on a Wednesday evening. The restaurant was rather empty, but not too surprising since it only just opened. When we walked in we were greeted by four smiling waitresses that told us we could choose any place we'd like. Obviously we chose the upper floor that allowed us to peek into the kitchen, one of the many nice things about this place.
The menu of Pino is nothing very subversive: Pizza, Burgers, Pasta, and salads. They also serve some meat and fish dishes, and a couple of desserts. However, they aim for quality, with locally based ingredients that are often homemade, such as the pasta. Pizzas are cooked in a wood-fired oven, which is a nice touch as well. The taste of the food was great, pasta nicely al-dente, the burger pink and juicy, the pizza crusty, and the ribs came right off the bone.
Nothing to remark then? Well, the fries could have been a bit browner and crustier.
The serving personnel was friendly (definitely smiling more than you'll normally see in Krakow) and dressed in crisp white shirts. One remark: underlining "Service not included" on the bill is not a very classy move (Enter Reservoir Dogs discussion on tipping).
All in all a very nice place to take friends or family for dinner to, but it remains to be seen how it will compete with the many other establishments that are fishing in the same pond.
