Pinstripe Bar at the Viceroy Ubud is an exceptional destination that delivers elegance, craftsmanship and genuine hospitality from the moment you arrive.
Entry through the striking Art Deco inspired doors beneath a crystal chandelier immediately sets the tone. Inside, deep forest-green walls, rich timber panelling, brass accents and warm amber lighting create a refined speakeasy atmosphere. Back-lit spirit cabinets line the walls like a gallery, showcasing an impressive and thoughtfully curated collection, while leather lounges, a substantial central bar and a beautifully appointed billiards room invite guests to relax and linger.
We visited on a Friday evening during live jazz, which added a smooth, relaxed energy to the space, with the pianist happily taking requests.
We chose seats at the bar. Highly recommended as watching the bartenders work became part of the experience. My partner enjoyed an Old Fashioned Negroni, while I sampled the martini flight, followed by a Bloody Red Shiraz Four Pillars gin sour, each cocktail impeccably balanced and beautifully presented. We also shared burgers, crisp fries and the small beetroot bites, which were satisfying and well suited to the relaxed pace of the evening.
Bayu, the mixologist, was warm, enthusiastic and clearly very talented. Ferrari, the Bar Manager, was especially welcoming and knowledgeable, taking the time to show us the cigar room and explain the philosophy behind Pinstripe.
What truly sets this bar apart is the team. Polished, friendly and genuinely engaging. What began as a casual visit became a relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable four-hour evening.
Pinstripe Bar is a standout in Ubud. Refined without pretension, luxurious without excess, and well worth a visit.
