Great and interesting collection, every piece tells its story. Many models and historic objects. Friendly and knowledgable staff. They normally open during Summer. If you visit during off season, call them ahead of time. They might be able to specially open for you (just like me). Even though the museum looks a bit small comparing to the number of shown objects, it is packed with aviation history. Many of them are from previous aircraft accident. I highly recommend this museum for those who love aviation and those who study aircraft accident investigation.

With a cheap entry fee and lots of Alaskan aviation history, it's hard to pass this place up. There's an interactive helicopter exhibit for aviation enthusiasts of all sizes. If you need a place to get away from the big crowds, make a stop here.

This is located in pioneer park. It is a smaller museum but does display some interesting exhibitions.

Great place to just walk around and view the scenery. When available you can see some of Alaskas History or visit the shops.

First, visitors to Fairbanks should note that this is a seasonal museum; closed during the winter. This is a pretty small museum, but it the space is crammed full of interesting exhibits that are a thrill to aviation fans like myself. It does a good job of telling the story of flying in Alaska.

They had some really good exhibits- but they completely left Joe Crosson out- Joe Crosson and Gilliam found Eilsens wrecked plane in Siberia - Joe was known as the Mercy Pilot for his role in settling Alaska- leaving him out was a blatant move - and we were not happy- my husbands father, Lon Dean Crosson, was Joes first cousin- we came all the way from Atlanta to follow Joes time here- very disappointed!! Joe Crosson’s archive collection is the largest at the Rasmussen Library- you need to spend some time researching!

Very worthwhile to attend while you are at the park. All kinds of planes, helicopters, and history. I saw and was able to sit in a Huey helicopter which was used during the Vietnam war. Very sobering experience looking at all of the past sorts of air flight, including a Hoovercraft. Lots of time was well spent setting this up. I was totally amazed. It's costs 4 bucks per person after 5:00pm. I was there before 5:00pm, but still my wife and I left a donation.

Yelp
Facilities look amazing but nothing is open. Their wet sore needs to be better managed. I saw the sections regarding Memorial Day to Labor Day but on google and their own site it shows them open when they are not. Called their info office and got connected to Mayors office who also didn't know when they are open. Very friendly staff.

Yelp
Pioneer Park Pioneer Air Museum grabs your imagination as you walk past a giant radial aircraft engine on your way in. It costs five dollars to go inside and it is very much worth it. Inside, Alaskan aviation history is being preserved. The building is dome shaped and circular inside and a person can venture off in any direction and still end up seeing the whole display. There are entire small aircraft hanging from the ceiling or parked on the floor. You can sit in vintage airplane seats and watch a well preserved historical program on large screen T.V.s. The antique photographs, parts and pieces of wreckage and ancient engines inspire dreams of time travel. There are a few very unique armature built planes donated from local aviators, one of them used the pilots' seat as the gas tank to reduce weight. Some of the first wooden propellers ever made are on display and they are arranged so that a person can see how the technology evolve. The staff is bright and helpful; tours are available from knowledgeable guides and there is a small gift shop to help support the museum. I would recommend it to anyone who visits Pioneer Park.

Yelp
My Dad got a kick out of it. For me it was a bit stale. Lots of planes but not many stories to go along with them. Perfect for people who are into the history of airplanes.
