I came here years ago. So long ago it used to have the longest lines with Japanese tourists that would flock to eat here. Then covid hit and I stopped going. Today we decided to go again and it was after lunchtime, so perfect. No line! We ordered outside and went inside to grab a table. When we got to there, all tables except one big one were taken.
We ordered mochiko chicken, a side of fried baby tako, as well as their special negi shio chicken. We then sat down and waited for the food. We must have waited no longer than 10 minutes and we got our plates in take our boxes. Great for you don't need to finish all your food and then ask for a take out box. It's already in it!
The portions aren't your local style heavy plates, however the portions are enough for you to share with another person with a small appetite. The mochiko chicken was juicy, however it didn't have much flavor to it. I don't know if I could have ordered a garlic mochiko chicken but it was rather bland. The frying of it was also a bit on the burnt side. However, I have to say it was super juicy so we just added sriracha= all good. The Negi shio chicken was too salty for me. I ate three little pieces and had to eat all my pasta salad to take away the salt. I know shio=salt but this was too salty even with rice. I wish I could have tasted the chicken more. It's ok, that was a choice on a whim for it was a special but I cannot eat so much salt on my food. A little disappointing for me. Then the fried baby tako seemed to be tasty. The price for side order was $14!! That was a bit high but I guess everything is expensive now!! The rice was great and the pasta salad was good too.
The girl at the cashier was very friendly as everyone else. Nobody kicked us out as we sat and talked and also ordered delicious shaved ice from next door for dessert!! Was good going back, however the food wasn't what I remember it being years ago. It's ok. Support local businesses. The ambiance is chill as long as there aren't a billion people inside.
