Pirofani Taverna

I never usually leave reviews on places but I had to leave one here. Straight away Theo made us feel welcome, he’s been the highlight of the whole trip… his sense of humour and wit made us laugh and filled us with joy. This is what dining is about… we ordered the gigandes beans. Heavenly melt in the mouth full of flavour. Then the seabass, the portion sizes and quality of the produce was 10/10. Only regret is that I wish we discovered this place early so we could have gone here again. The place was completely full. Says it all really. You have to go here! Thanks Theo and team!

We have been coming to Hydra since the 1990''s. Our first ever visit was to stay in a small pension in Kamini and we used to eat at Theo's Pirofani regularly then. It had the feeling of being rather like an elite "club" for elderly ex-pats, as the paintings on the walls inside testify. The two curries on the menu are as good today as they were then! Still a great experience Theo! Liz and Alex, your Surrey neighbours.

We visited in July and found it to be an amazing meal. The staff seems to just be a husband and wife. The meal is clearly thoughtful and made with intention.

All of my meals in Hydra were good. Pirofani’s was my favorite! The bass and fava beans were incredible. The white table wine was enjoyable. The location is laid back with charming cats under beautiful trees.

Magical. The Gigandes Beans was one of the best dishes I’ve eaten in my life. The ambiance was a dream, the food is simple and perfect. Theo is a great host. Our favourite restaurant on Hydra. We walked from Mandraki and it was well worth it.

Charming setting, simple yet well chosen menu. Modest prices and wonderful classical music in the background for a change. The food well cooked and the desserts are exceptional. The owner thaws into engaging as the evening progresses. A good borrowing bookshelf inside for holiday reads. After the meal, take in the glorious after sunset glow a few yards from the restaurant over Kamini harbour.
