In This Paris Suburb, Most Kids Can’t Swim—a New Olympic Aquatics Center Might Change That

"Reopened after renovation, this pool features improved energy performance and a retractable sunroof for open-air swimming. Originally built for the 1924 Summer Olympics."

In my opinion, the best pool in Paris. Mainly because it's big, but the lanes are organized by style (crawl, material etc) and that helps you find a lane that works for you. Can be busy at times, but somehow it all works. The hours are variable since they share with schools, but the schedule is po sted and clear. Nice history too...olympic pool from 1924!

Always my favourite pool. Everything is great. 50m pool with plenty different lines, good for swimmers. But it would be prefect if some work can be done for the toilet. I don’t use the toilet that much. But it’s quite dirty and smell is so strong every time when I walk passed. Actually avoided using it. *update-construction has been done in the toilet. Everything is great 😊

A nice pool located 20mins metro from central Paris. French customs (mandatory swimming cap / swim shorts forbidden) are enforced.

Fermé depuis 2017, c’est enfin ouvert ! (16/07/18) A nice pool with a rising floor to adjust water depth. Large swim lanes and partially open roof. Good for tanning. Showers have been redone but still some glitches. For some reason they closed the women’s showers and lockers on the day I visited and so everyone was sharing the men’s area.

The pool hosted swimming events for Gay Games 10. The pool may be set for 25 meters or 50 meters. The retractable roof is a great feature, and the facilities are spacious. The pool is easy to find, located only 1 block from the Metro.

Cool pool / could be better with a few Accessories to work a bit out of the pool .. a bit too essential

Located near Porte des Lilas, piscine Georges Vallerey may seem like it's too far to get to, but should you make the trek you will be rewarded. This pool is spacious, clean, has recently renovated gender segregated change rooms, and a retractable roof. The lane rules are simple - they are only regulated by the type of stroke, not the speed. Where the rules at other pools only lead to confusion and therefore a general ignoring of the rules, there was much greater rule compliance here. This is a deep pool, there is no shallow end. There is deck space to sun yourself if the roof is retracted.

A great pool. Very clean and a nice retro design. Remember you'll need a cap (can be bought in vending machine at ground floor).

Yelp
Piscine Georges Vallerey is the swimming stadium among the pools in Paris. The Basin does not qualify to be called "Olympic" anymore by the current standard (50x25 Meters and Piscine Georges Vallerey 'only' has 50x21), but who gives a damn? 50 Meters length, plenty of lanes, and no shallow end. The biggest basin in(side) Paris and real Public Pool for Swimmers. Thanks to a variable floor on one side of the basin, they can use this pool in different configurations over the days, so if you want to use all the 50 Meters of length, make sure to check the website when they are operating that way and not in other configurations. The best bit about this Pool? In Summer they can open the roof. Why only 4 Stars then? Piscine Georges Vallerey is not without fault. The last big renovation was 1989 and the pools age is showing here and there. The starting blocks were rusting. Showers and the dressing-room area (men and women separated in both) are quite dark and unwelcoming. Not many individual changing cabins and those who are there are rather small and marked with lots of Graffiti and Stickers. Toilets are not up to modern Standards. The pool hall itself was quite cold when I was there, it was a lot warmer in the other areas.
