I would like to start this review by saying I've frequented pita paradise many many times and for many years because I live on Maui and I love their food and service.... That is, up until today.
I have a gluten allergy and I always order the same thing. Their ahi tartare without the chips that accompany it.
I made this clear to the server, Whinie, yet the order came out with the chips anyway. The server was a little rude in telling me that I said "capers on the side". There was no apology, but she still had it remade. That alone is fine. It was an honest mistake.
Unfortunately when the new one came out, 2 bites into it, I bit into a fish scale that literally cut my gums. It had a flat jagged appearance which I honestly thought was sharp piece of plastic at first.
The servers reaction was extremely nonchalant saying "this is normal, that's how it is when you eat fish" in a condescending manner. Belittling me as if I don't know what fish is. There was no apology, but I digress.
I told her that I unfortunately didn't want to continue eating it anymore and had pushed the plate aside. In that same trip she dropped the check, and she still charged for the dish that cut my mouth.
I approached the server asking if there was a mistake if maybe her manager didn't get the chance to remove it yet. Instead she proceeded to argue with me about how it was made twice, and how I had told her that I didn't it after the findings, so she took the plate to toss etc.
After some back and forth, she finally spoke to the manager and removed the dish from the check. I had to basically pry it out of her on why I didn't believe I should pay the restaurant for the liability of a foreign object that caused me harm.
I am a server. I've been a server/bartender for nearly 15 years. I would never treat a guest the way she treated me and unfortunately, I will not be returning to pita paradise anymore.
