Pixán Taqueria & Cantina

We stopped here before an event in the area for dinner. We didn't realize it was walk up & order or that it was so casual. It wasn't a negative aspect, just unexpected. We sat outside on their picnic style seating, thankfully they have umbrellas which helped from being in the direct sun. I ordered the pork shoulder braised in pumpkin seed mole, served with warm tortillas & taco fixings (shredded cabbage, pickled onions, a jalapeno, cilantro and a lime wedge). It was a big portion and ended up bringing 1/2 home. It was very tasty and loved the pumpkin mole. My husband ordered the Bistec, which was a grilled steak in a creamy mushroom so frio, charred scallions and chili butter. It was also served with warm tortillas & taco fixings. He loved it. He also had a classic margarita which he really enjoyed. Fresh and clean ingredients. We decided we would come back to try the tacos if we are in the area after 4pm (they open at 4pm- and it was a heavier meal than I normally eat at that time, which is just a personal preference). It was a wonderful experience. The staff were all friendly and upbeat.

It isn’t the typical Mexican food but more like Fusion Mexican. Everything we ordered was tasty. We shared lamb, pork and fish tacos. Watermelon Salad for a starter since we weren’t very hungry. We had a choice to Bo eat burgers but so glad we tried this place. It was a weekday but very crowded. If you want indoor dining, I Recommend reservation so you don’t have to wait 30 min in outside table. Friendly and relaxed service.

Lived here for 17 years and really want it to be good as there is a lack of food options in town if you are a local. Service has gone downhill, the lady behind the register -rude. No customer service whatsoever. Counter service and bus your own table, then they expect 18% tip minimum? The last two times we ate here there was a small child pounding the keys on the piano, then yesterday "The Doors" record blasting. It was off-putting and we would have moved outside but is was hot. Good food would have been a redeeming point but It wasn't. This place used to care more when they first opened, not sure what happened. A smile and a thank you would go far, after all you are in the customer service field.

THE BURRITO!!! 🌯 best we’ve ever had! The chips and guacamole are delicious and presentation beautiful. Kind staff and very kid friendly spot. Would definitely come back! Looks (and tastes) gourmet for a very reasonable price!

Laid back atmosphere. Place orders at the counter and then food delivered to your table. Different preparation than I would have expected, but wow,excellent food. I had a taco bowl. Delicious. Others really enjoyed their food also.

The papas and the mushroom tacos were really good. Had the avocado vanilla shake that was amazing. The loaded fries are more like giant potato wedges, they weren’t bad but our group of three barely made a dent on the plate. Beautiful space, great service.

The food here is very good. The burrito bowl was very filling after a long day in the mountains. Had a couple tacos, could only finish one because I was so full from the bowl. They like their beans here and give you a lot. I also like beans so that worked well for me. Also enjoyed the agua Fresca. Good chips and salsa. The service was confusing. Since the last time I ate here it switched to counter-order and self service. it felt a little confusing, but easily navigated. The food was delayed 30-45 minutes (they were busy) but they were upfront about the delay so I wasn’t too upset.

The trout was so perfectly done…crispy and crunchy perfection. It was so tasty that I ate the whole fish. The pumpkin seed mole was full of umami. The flan….omg…the salted toffee made it amazing! The margaritas are delicious and strong so start with the 10oz 😉
