Sitting in my hotel I pulled up Google and wrote "Best Pizza in Milan," to no surprised Pizza AM came up near the top and it was a block away from my hotel so I took a walk to try it out, I had high expectations considering the number of reviews this place has.
I walked in and was greeted by the staff, handed a sandwich and a glass of wine which I returned back to them. Not only am I not really a drinker, but I also got flashbacks of the men trying to put Elephant bracelets on my hand at Il Duomo, and being from New York, no one gives you free stuff without finding a way to get money back later. The whole entrance experience made me feel so awkward I felt like I walked into a tourist trap, and being someone who speaks fluent Italian I was almost uncomfortable to the point I wanted to pull a 180 and walk out but I figured I'd roll with the experience.
The menu is extremely limited, the pizzas on the menu are basically all the same if you look at it. I ordered a simple Margherita. The pizza came and I was extremely disappointed, there was so much water on the top of this pizza it was way too wet. The dough wasn't crisp and I had to tear it with my fork and knife because I couldn't cut it.
So again, after this visit, I will no longer base any of my meal plans on reviews because I don't know if I caught a bad day or if the people giving this place 5-stars are hypnotized. This place also charges you $2-per person on your bill for no reason, so that's them trying to recoup the "free gift" you thought you got when you walked in.
