When visiting South Africa, you quickly realize that pizza is likely not the same as what you’re used to back home. And honestly that’s ok because you should experience what the local culture and customs experience. But every once in a while you just want to eat what resembles what you’re used to back home.
And my GOODNESS! The Napoli crust at Pizza Connection is just so so good. That puffed up crust and paper thin center is just so good. The flavor and the texture of the dough is as good as everyone raves about.
Now my husband loves a good white pizza and he ordered the Johnny Love which is EVOO, Parma Ham and Burrata. I think you have to be an absolute purist for that pizza because that’s really all you got. The dough for his pizza seemed to puff up like a pita rather than sit like the other Napoli doughs. The pizza and the simplicity of the ingredients was delicious, but I could tell that he slightly regretted his pizza choice. Thankfully we try to order different items so we can share.
I ordered the Amatriciana on a Napoli crust. Wow, it’s just so delicious. The tomato sauce, the cheeses, the bacon, the dough, just so so good. And on top of that, they bring out these cute bottles of garlic oil and chili oil in what looks to be face moisturizer bottles or something. They’re so cute and the perfect vessel to adding a bit of extra flavor to your pizza.
The setting is a tight location filled with people all looking to have a fun time. We went with a group of 11 for dinner on a Friday night so we were thankful we could get a reservation. But was it loud in there, not really the spot you want to go to for conversations. But if you’re going for the food, get a red sauce Napoli pizza and you’ll be happy.
